Daily Fail saying both Mackie and Cox are talking to Reading. Another double transfer on the cards?

1.) 05 Aug 2014
Blackpool will have a bigger squad than us at this rate! :- (

{Ed034's Note - we have signed nine players

2.) 05 Aug 2014
SP did mention in his interview on BBC Nottingham that 2 more might be out of the door this week.

3.) 05 Aug 2014
Yep I have seen it too
No problem if it creates space for new strikers
COYR

4.) 05 Aug 2014
Shame about Mackie but got to wonder where he fits in tbh even with his great work ethic.

Would be very happy to see Mackie go, mixed opinions on The lad but for me he's not got enough quality to be first choice for a side with ambition.

Cannot fault Mackies work rate, team effort and willingness to fight for the badge but unfortunately his touch is poor, he doesn't score nor does he create enough goals, weak in the air and consistently offside. Looking at what we have already brought into the club with the likes of Burke and Pato plus some potential new signings competing out wide it's time for a change.

6.) 05 Aug 2014
I hope Pearce knows about these transfers. What do u reckon Ed, I know u are a fan of Mackie due to his workrate, bad decision to let him go to a rival in our devision?

{Ed034's Note - Pearce has said both players can go if we can find buyers. He wants a smaller squad but wants two more strikers. We can sign nine players and not expect some to leave

7.) 05 Aug 2014
It's one thing selling but to promotion rivals, really? Lol timing is everything. Would. Look better if we got replacements through the door first. I just can't find the words anymore.

{Ed034's Note - wend signed nine players and need to move some out before signing others. It's not soccer manager where you stick then on a transfer list she get several clubs offer similar amounts.
We have been offered money for them by reading. We need to move them on before signing

8.) 05 Aug 2014
Ed people have opinions why do you always have to chip in with a condescending tone it's pathetic. I'm aware it's not "soccer manager" have more respect. I thought this was a site that respected fans opinions not to shoot them down in a patronising manner. Grow up.

{Ed034's Note - dont make childish and silly comments then. Everyone in the league is a rival. Who do you think we are going to sell them to?? It was a silly comment.
If you think it's that easy to sell players, you are either very naive or have been playing too many management games. It sounds like you are saying you are not the latter, there for naive it is then. In that case I apologise as you don't know different....good at this patronising lark aren't i

Watch them both come back and haunt us,bankers to score when we play them.Any idea who is being lined up Ed? Hope they are quality.

{Ed034's Note - Antonio sounds a done deal.

10.) 05 Aug 2014
Ed 10 players left end of season when contracts expired. Who's next pato he scored some fantastic goals last season
Surprised no one as come for him.
I'd want 5m for him.

{Ed034's Note - as I said, Pearce has said all along he wants a smaller squad. We had a massive squad, so after getting rid of out of contracts and then bringing in nine, his many does it leave??

11.) 05 Aug 2014
I've heard QPR fans say they could never understand the reason they sold mackie! endless running and workrate. and to be fair was always rotated under Davies even if he had a good game. My personal feeling is we should keep him, he's a little bit like a James milner style, good energy for the team. A for cox, well strikers are employed to score goals and coxy doesn't get enough, we can replace him with better! FTID

12.) 05 Aug 2014
Whats the problem? We finished 10th in the championship with Cox and Mackie largely impotent for most of the season. Neither will improve. Take the money and put it towards players who can influence a game

13.) 05 Aug 2014
Cox and Mackie should be worth around 1.5 million, if it's any less then we have been robbed. I just hope sp was consulted on this and sp will get a couple of million from the Newcastle and reading deals to buy the 2 players he needs

{Ed034's Note - it was his decision

14.) 05 Aug 2014
Watch them come back to haunt us when we play them, bankers to score. Football is a strange old game, being a Forest fan is certainly not boring! Any idea who's lined up to come in Ed?

{Ed034's Note - Antonio in tomorrow

15.) 05 Aug 2014
Mackie doesn't create goals do me a favour. Did not want to see him leave but we have Antonio coming in I guess

16.) 05 Aug 2014
Wonder if they would pay with McCleary instead of cash. now that might appease the grumblers! Seriously though I like Mackie a lot and Cox too (though he hasn't shown his best with us) but the manager is within his rights to let a few players go. watch what happens next with LVG at united. When you consider all the negativity thrown about here towards the Coxes, Mackies and Halfords of this world this reaction is pretty amusing now. I'm scared to think of the uproar now when Collins finally goes! The Newcastle mess is one thing but this is quite another.

17.) 05 Aug 2014
Why are players being sold 4 days before start of new season leaving hardly any time for replacements, never mind time for SP to try out any late additions as no more games now before season kicks off for real?
Why sell our best players to have to find replacements that will be overpriced and probably not as good?
If the £5m or is it £7m from Lascelles and Darlow sale is to help with FFP then surely that money is not available to spend on further additions? I thought if we breached FFP it only means a transfer embargo in Jan and a fine?
Only players available now will be loans? Won't all frees have found new clubs by now? Surely not a good basis for a promotion chasing season to be 3 or 4 players short in key positions 4 days before season starts?
We are desperately short of CM players (especially if Lansbury goes) and CF's (especially if Cox goes).
Only senior players we will have is Reid and Vaughan in CM and Fryatt and dutch lad up front!
We look mid table at moment. If we several key players get injured we will be fighting against relegation.
Yet again renewed my season ticket on false promises.

{Ed034's Note - we do not need to replace darlow or lascelles. Pearce wages the other toe out to create space for his own signings.
You do bus you can get your money back

18.) 05 Aug 2014
As Lascelles and Darlow staying this season we appear to have loads of defenders, granted some still injured. A lot of players who have gone weren't good enough but we appear to be short on numbers now in midfield and up front. Of course we want better quality but are we going to get it in a last minute panic rush? Won't other teams be averse to letting players go this late?
Perhaps exception is young Premiership players on fringes? We really need another combative CM, two if Lansbury goes. Lansbury is crucial to us as he is box to box, winning ball back one end and attacking threat the other. A pacey winger (Antonio?) plus a quick striker, two more forwards if Cox goes.
