Forest have appointed Kevin MacDonald, the former Aston Villa under-21 manager, to their coaching staff.

The Scotsman, who has been working behind the scenes at the club all summer and led the recent training camp in Valencia, will coach the club's under-18 side.

I watched my local team underwood villa play forest u18 in a friendly at bracken park underwood in July. The forest squad were coached by Steve Sutton Kevin McDonald and jack lester, Nigel jemson was also with them but I think his lad was playing for forest as a trialist so probably just watching rather than being involved. Incidentally forest were awesome, winning 12-1 whilst playing with ten men to try to balance it up a bit!

Think McDonald would have been better employed with the under 21's. Not sure about Gilligan's. Am I right in saying that Gilligan has in the past been part of Forest's coaching staff.

@BrinsleyRed yes he was there as I was playing for underwood in that game and I have to say there is some strong talent in that academy! Looking hopeful for the future!
