Forest looking abroad for a striker to bring in on loan. Still no names mentioned though. It doesn't seem like DF as any urgency on this one, can't see anything happening until end of January.

He did say that he would not just bring one in for the sake of it, they had to be right
I'm not a fan of his defensive style but if we are to get a good forward I can wait a few more weeks.

Yep, He also said he'd wait until the last hour of deadline day to get who he wants and is happy to put pressure on himself by doing so.

Don't expect anything to happen soon.

Red Dog, "a few more weeks", considering the low scoring form we are in, for me is too late! We are rapidly running out of goals. and any remote chance we have of the last play-off spot. Anytime now would be good!

We'll not get into play-offs, not got enough points from playing those in the middle of the table recently, so we need to look at top 10 finish and rebuild in the summer.

Only 10 points away from 6th place, win a few, some lose a few, still plenty of points left. But it is a big ask, and rebuilding for next season makes so much more sense.

The playoffs were never in sight for us.

We will finish 11th or 12th.

DF won't get us on the top six. Can't knock what he's done for us though. He can make a great career in helping clubs through times of instability and stormy seas.

He's not iconic though, not legendary and won't go down in history. The medicine he's administered was the tonic we needed.

I hope his contract is honoured but I hope he doesn't stay beyond that. Surely there is a manager our there who can make us top flight again.

2star

That is a bit harsh, let the manager make us financially stable then let another manager spend what he wants, yet the manager that made it possible gets sacked.

You would make one hell of a tough boss.

I would and you're not wrong in saying it's harsh.

I just think there is a limit to his capability.

I'm honestly grateful for what he's done though, I know that might sound kinda twisted!

I just don't understand how people can say play offs are impossible this season? Has none of you watched the championship before?

We have a strong squad and we have every right to aim for the play offs in the position we are in. If we don't make the play offs I won't moan but let's not write ourselves off before the race has ended!

2star is right, DF is great for stabilizing a club with no money. But I feel we need someone who will take us up next season and from what I have seen so far DF does not give me the confidence that he is the man to do this.

Maybe we should get Ian Holloway like Palace did? lol And I'm joking before anyone starts. :)

Promotion was won by that Palace team with 72 points and a fifth place finish. Extra time penalty in the playoff final sealed it.

19 games left would leave us needing 2 points a game to make that total. Can't see it no matter who's in charge.

Personally I like DF and hope he can keep building confidence and togetherness and eventually coax the team further up the pitch. DF never had any issues with attack when he was with Palace but he also had Zaha.
I reckon if you gave him the tools he'd get the job done? Let's get Britt back, build a solid confident base, and see what happens next season.

Lets be honest about it.

The club was a total wreck when he took over. Fawaz had lost interest and just ruined another legend, the team was awash with tossers and the fans were pretty angry.
DF has turned things around and given us some optimism without setting us alight.

We have togetherness, one voice, and a solid approach. The team spirit is like when BD had the players playing for each other but without the nastyness. That can only be a good thing and when DF gets to spend some cash we might just get a team who can hold the ball further up the pitch.

It's not really DF's fault that he's managing frayed confidence, signing players no one else seems to want and trying no to get beat or lose his job? All of those things are bound to bring a certain caution to your football.

Done an awesome job he's done with signings too, so I'm more than happy to give DF another season.

I don't usually write on here, but have to say I agree with you, no22

I think DF has done a pretty good job all told. He's had no money, yet managed to bring in some decent players - an got them playing as a team.

It may not be a style to everyone's liking, but we have become much harderto beat in recent times. We clearly need more firepower, and it remains to be seen if anyone arrives this window.

I personally would like to see DF be given the opportunity to build on the foundation he has laid. I suspect he would like to play more expansive football, but has to work with the players at his disposal.

To be fair to DF he ain't done too bad of a job up to now what with all our injuries to our most prolific players and no money to spend, i can remember some people slating the guy for bringing in Matt Mills who in my opinion is one of our best players up to yet so give the manager a little praise for what he has done and play offs IS a possibility.

Mills has really settled in now and looks a terrific player.

I agree with most of the above posts but we have now got 18 points from the last 10 league games That's 1.8 per game not far off the 2 per game needed.
With a bit of luck a new striker or Brit back we can still believe in miracles.
