My faith in human nature has been restored a little by the 81% of fans who want Chris Cohen to be given a new contract. Part of the reason Chris has had such a rough time with injuries is down to the fact that he never gives less than 100% for the team.

Chris is the kind a bloke who will make a brilliant coach too. Forest need people like him in and around the club. What a brilliant example to the academy players. Skill alone will not make you a success in football, dedicated hard work is also required.

What would you say if Fawaz in the summer signed 5 players with Cohen's injury problems.

I know the lad has had a tough time with injuries, no player wants to get injured, but we seem to have turned into a bleeding hearts club.

Cohen has given his all enough over the years for us to give him another chance to be in and around the club. he wasn't bought injured with an injury record so that was a bit silly saying if fawaz bought them,
People seem to think that when a player is injured he contributes nothing to the team, someone like Cohen who loves the club and can pass on his knowledge and no how is priceless to the club.

Cohen Does now have a injury record, so if Fawaz brought 5 players with his current games per season in the summer would you say great, 5 hard workers, bargains the Century.

What can he teach anybody, he can not do anything due to his injuries. What was the name of that band years ago that sang Money For Nothing. Probably his favorite group.

Giving Chris Cohen a new contract is a no brainer imo. A model pro, gives 100 per cent win draw or lose, great example to the young players and a great leader on and off the pitch. If all the team played like him we wouldn't be in the position we are in. Obviously the medics and physios have a big say and we don't want another Kelvin Wilson situation but Chris being the honest bloke he is would understand that. While we're on contracts likewise Mancienne, Worrall Pinillos. Vaughn not so sure he's turned 34 would he accept pay for play rolling contact probably not. Ward and Hobbes I'd extend bearing in mind we offered Traore 3 years and I haven't seen e n him fit yet. Probably signed to his mate Henri happy! For the long term future get Edser and Cash nailed down and Brereton for next 5 years minimum.

If all players played like Cohen we would not be able to field a team for 50 games of every season, including Cup Competitions that is.

This is the trouble, when a player is a nice bloke, and works hard, when he plays he is seen as a irreplaceable even though he is replaced for all but a few games every season.

Tomorrow the vast majority of teams don't get 50 games a season out of any player who's not a goalkeeper what with suspensions and the pace of modern day football. The days of Cloughie winning the league with 15 players are long gone. I guess cortisone injections patched them up week after week with horrendous results when they retired. Anyway I'd take 25 games a season from Cohen perhaps 30 with proper management for his workrate and leadership example. I could see him doing a holding midfielder job when Vaughn finishes rather than a box to box all action player. It's all down to special management for a special player ie different role and/ or training regime. I always think of McGrath at 80 s Man Utd or Dave McKay at 70 s Derby both carried numerous injuries.

Like Marco says, he'll struggle to get a decent contract anywhere else with his injury record so Forest could easily offer him a contract with a reduced basic wage and a fair pay-as-you-play clause.

He deserves it. His commitment, experience and enthusiasm are invaluable and who knows what kind of coach or manager he could become further down the line. Sign him up.

It's not hard to just offer him a 1year extension and say if you play 35 games from now until its runs out after that we can give you another year.
Chat I understand what your saying but giving Cohen a new contract for a year has more benefits to it than just his playing time. he's seen and played with the youth set up and I would imagine he's given out some sound advice to the youngest kids and showed them what you have to be like to make itbin this game.

The charity for players that can't even honour their contracts and actually play for us needs to stop now. Cohen, vaughan, hobbs and fryatt need to leave the club asap.

Also, yes i agree cohen does give 100% when fit. But 100% or not, he's not actually that good!

Cut the deadwood and try some young talent from league 1 that want to work for a club and prove themselves.
