Mancienne has a clause in his contract that states if he starts 2 more games for the Reds, his contract will automatically renew for another 12 months. This is why he isn't starting games. To me not playing our best CB for this reason I'm is a farce. If we want to stay up that is.

In a ideal world wr would play him, but if we were to start him, and give him a new contract what happens then.

Should we end up being relegated we have to hope other clubs are willing to pay what we would want, and pay his high wages aswell, if that was not the case we would be Stuck with a player who would not want to be with us, and paying his high wages the club could not afford being in League 1.

Surly if he had a contract extension for a further year and we went down we would have him to help us get nack up.
Should he not want to stay he would be in contract and we would get something for him?
As it is he walks for free regardless of our league status

I understand wages could be an issue if we go down but am I missing something else here?

Not playing him is probaly contributing to the position we are in, if you want to take points from games you need a solid defence.

He would not be with us if we got relegated, some Championship clubs are supposedly interested in that he could be a free agent so unlikely he would stay.

I would suggest that Warburton's mate has considered all options and worked out the best option for the club.

It is possible Mancienne has indicated he would like to stay if we stay up and therefore willing to wait to see if we stay up.

We have conceded goals with him in, and out of the team.

It is a team effort, the players being played out of position does not help, the forwards not getting the rub of the green, and concentration levels not being what they should al do not help either.

We play 46 games in a season, we therefore could not blame relegation, should it happen on a handful of games where Mancienne has not started from the off.

Being in league 1 is much more of a financial burden than paying manciennes wages for another year. We have to play our best players to stay up.
