Burnley to visit the City Ground on July 29, do we have stadium tours that day.

That should be a good workout for the lads ready for the new season. L.

I wonder if there's a subliminal message to fans in arranging the Burnley friendly ie look what a small club with an ancient ground, a capacity of 20,000 and a tiny budget can achieve? Oh and a bit of continuity and faith in a good youngish manager (even though as a player Cloughie said he couldn't trap a bag of wet sand)!

Just a good benchmark test of a newly promoted Premiership team?
Or maybe just dropping off the eye prescription for Boyd?

I think Mr Clough said Gary Megson could not trap a bag of sand.

Burnley are organised and hard working, they are the type of team we struggled against last season therefore much more of a test than facing a footballing side that we were competitive against last season.

Warburton needs to test the players, you need to win your last few pre-season friendlies to boot confidence, but in the early games need to challenge the players to know what change ready for the new season.

Megson got his own back for that coment, those bags of sand weighed us down league when he was manager.
Worst manager we've ever had and the most boring to watch and listen to.
I remember his first game in charge at home and he played garath taylor our striker at centre half, what a joke.
Cloughie got rid of him after amonth as a player? pity doughty didn't as a manager.

Last season Lincoln City would have thrashed us! let's hope we are going to be a team that can deal with all different styles of playing because to be successful that is fundamental, no good being good against footballing sides, you've got to play them all, long ball included!

Carlo

That is so true, and is why it is important to play against some teams in pre-season that play the different styles we struggle against normally.
