Middlesbrough have completed a club-record deal to sign Britt Assombalonga from Nottingham Forest.

Assombalonga said: “I can’t wait to get started and train with the boys. I’m glad it’s completed and I can focus on what’s ahead now.

“I can’t wait to meet the manager and get ready for next season. There’s a good feeling around the place. From the minute I walked in it felt right. ”

Gonna be tough to fill the goal gap britt leaves but if he wanted to go then the club is right to sell only players wanted are the ones who will fight till the death for the team.

Assambolonga, Antonio, Burke. We have no ambition.

Long eaton-in my opinion, we need stability before we can be ambitious. Fingers crossed that the money is spent wisely, hopefully we can make a few decent signings to improve the squad and continue to develop some of the younger players.

His release clause was met and he wanted to go nothing to do with ambition.

Bang on Redmash. Some people are just blinkered!

As soon as a club triggered his release clause then he was off and to be fair if I got offered over double I was earning now I would do the same.

Yes gutted to a Championship club but it now history onwards and upwards.

You Reds.

Long eaton. - everton sell lukaka, soton an entire team over the last few years, but both seem to be doing ok, its the way of the football world, unless you are Real Madrid. What matters most is the owner and manager, we will find out soon enough.

Agree with longeaton it just shows a total lack of ambition! As a new owner EM should be trying to lift the fans who are deflated after years of disappointment. How is selling our best player going to do that? If I was a season ticket holder i'd be feeling pretty ripped off now.

Long Eaton Red

Assombalonga, Antonio, Burke sold because we have no money not because we have no ambition.

See Marco: won't spend his few hundred quid on a season ticket, unless the club spends millions.

Assombalonga just cost Middlesboro £15 million plus his salary of £3.1 million a year!

FFP is just not fair. Parachute payments make the unfairness even worse.

Footballers are no different to the rest of our sad and sorry society, greedy and selfish. I do not blame Assombalonga, who wouldn't move to double their salary? I don't blame the club, it has again done the business it needed to do to survive.

No money? Our new owner owns Olympiacos! Hardly going to be short a few quid! Was hoping Olympiacos would sign Vellios for 15 million! that would have sorted us financially.

Our last three owners have had multi million pound fortunes.

FFP will only allow a club and its owners to spend based on the money the club generates. Our club is currently losing millions of pounds on a consistent basis.
We now have a board of directors whose task it is to reverse these loses. Unfortunately, as I think Fawaz concluded, a board of directors costs a considerable amount of money too.

We need promotion or some other means of generating cash. As supporters all we can do is pay our entrance fees. I keep banging on about the Bayern Munich model, where they have cheap season tickets. They fill a much bigger ground than ours and make a fortune on merchandise.

Obviously its a massive shame that he gone but both assombalonga and antonio wanted to go they both have premier league almost guaranteed within the next few seasons. though who agrees it would've been nice to see them three up top together. either way now he's gone i expect at least a couple more signings and for the dead wood stojikov ect. to be gotten rid of. as for positions i say possibly one more defender if we ship perquis and hobbs not sure which but i belive mance and worall are brilliant i want smith to start in goal so i hope we don't go for anther keeper uneccessary imo and perhaps one more midfielder vaughn is getting on despite his quality and cohen has to be careful due to his injuries and i still feel we need a good mid to replace lansbury.
