We've put a bid of £1.75m to Newcastle for Daryl Murphy. Not sure a 35 year old is worth this sum?

I understand MW is also looking at possible bid of Cameron Jerome. Although can't see how we would afford his wages and Norwich value him at £6m. Forest willing to bid £5m max.

Typo, he's 34. Still, may work well with both Cummings or Brereton to feed off of. I can only see a season left in him at this level however, so not sure he's worth the sum mentioned.

He's 34. £1.75mill a bit steep.

How does 34 year old Daryl Murphy fit the young hungry player with undeveloped potential template? Waste of money imo, a Fawaz type purchase! I thought we d moved on from that era!

Proper striker with a quality record providing much needed experience. Agree that paying around £2 million is a bit steep if it were true. Let's face it, after selling Assombalonga we have a bit of cash to spend and everyone knows that.

Looks like it's happening though Taylor about to reveal something about it.

Murphys record not that great 60 odd goals in 200 games. Maybe he's more of a feeder to the front man. Maybe he's like kevin campbell ian wright said he liked playing with campbell because he got in the way of defenders allowing wrighty space to run in and score. To be honest if we get a striker would like to see someone at least capable of scoring 15 odd goals in the championship.

Will be massively disappointed if we replace Britt with Jerome, there's a reason they want to get rid.

34 yr old striker? Really "Warbs"? Please tell me it's a Rumour!

I reckon Lee Gregory (Millwall), Conor Washington (QPR) or even Will Grigg (Wigan) could fit nicely with what we already have. None are too old and could probably be picked up for a reasonable fee.

Zlatan is 34.

1.75m with 250k 'add ons' based on goals and promotion I've just heard. Looks like medical may have been completed this evening and we will announce tomorrow?

Murphy isn't exactly a great gosl scorer! Britt was a proper gosl machine so I'd be disappointed if he was his direct replacement. 2 million seems a lot for a 34 year old too! People that age should be free transfers. Jerome for 6 million would be a joke too. Vibe from Brentford would be a good buy and seeing as they've poached Watkins from my local team it'd be nice to see them lose out!

A 34 year old Daryl Murphy is not the answer surely. I no I posted a few days ago about Frazier Campbell possibly doing a job but Murphy couldn't get in a Newcastle team last season when Gayle and mitrovic were out.

Murphy int a bad player but 2m is silly for championship forward 34 years old. What's he got left 2years at most.
So if we pay 2m and he's on 20k a week.
Nearly 4m in total for a 34 year old. Over 2 year contract.
Don't do it warbo. 500k tops.
Cameron jerome crap 5/ 6m a joke.
Afobe 6m rising to 10m with add ons
Would be better.

Murphy is a battering ram. Cross into the box and he will get goals. Great to have on the bench to change a game but steep at 2 mill.

Afobe would be a great signing! He'd probably cost about 10 million tho! Frazer Campbell?! Are you serious!

So another Darius Henderson then.

A much bettr player than Henderson, 2m is a very steep, for 1m or less would be a good buy, as he has a lot of experience that would be invaluable in closing a game out, don't see him in starting line up in home games but nice to have on bench and away games.
