Looks like Murphey deal is nearly there on a 3 year deal
I for one think he will be a really good signing and an improvement on Britt.

I wouldn't say he's an improvement on Britt however he will bring bags of experience at this level which can only be a good thing for the other strikers in the squad as he can help improve them but not only is he an experienced striker he has a voice and won't be afraid to speak up in the dressing room. I think he will be more beneficial than Britt in terms of impact on squad but isn't as good a striker imo.

Can't see it being a 3 year deal he's 34 now I read it was going to be a 2 year deal.

Defiantly not an improvement nowhere near an improvement and the contract length seems ridiculous to me. think he will do well here, the reaction from newcastkesm fans tells you all you need to know. not like our fans slagging Britt off they actually wish him well and thanked him.

There's a few fans that wished Britt well and it's rare to say Newcastle fans are classy but on this occasion they are.

Apparently it is a 3 year contract but he as a player could demand that because there was a lot of other clubs interested in him. Let's hope he scores 20+ goals this season and we've picked ourselves a bargain.

Apples and oranges. Can't compare the two.
Britt is a goal scorer on his way back to fitness, Murphy is an experienced Championship old fashioned striker we've brought in to do a specific job. He's coming to add something the young lads don't have right now.

Your bang on the money Binns which is why my opinion is Murphey is a step up
I honestly can't see Britt going a full season with his injury background
I know Murphy has Had niggles but is a strong player and if he bags more than 14 it's a step up for me.

Murphy can teach the younger strikers a lot and is very popular with fans and in dressing I hear from everyone atNewcastle and Ipswich. He is a very solid and safe signing and he will be a good influence and score.
I would prefer 2m on him than 6-10m on an unproven younger striker or someone a few years younger with average to poor record like Jerome or Grabban etc
We have 3/ 4 potential younger goal scorers but now in Murphy a solid striker who knows this league and is a team player.
This deal also leaves us with a good amount of Britt money left to spend on midfield and defence.
