After reading on here the comparison of styles between England and Forest who else believes that Football Coaches are ruining the game and taking away our national style, in particular the British type of play.
When play our 442 style properly at pace its hard to beat.
What do people think?

Only thing you can say is that since 1966 we've won nothing playing mainly 442. Don't think the game has been ruined, you have to adapt to rule changes as well.
If you go back we had one sub,you could pass the ball back to goalkeeper and pick.it up,
You could tackle from behind.
Offside was easy to execute.
Game has changed a lot.

Not ruined but we shouldn't try and replicate continental football, we just don't have the players to pull it off. Crouch up front, long ball, that's what I say.

Football is an ever evolving sport both in rulesets and tactics. Gone are the days of long balls and lumping as players can generally read those balls and defend against them easily. Nowadays you switch the ball quickly or you play patiently and try to drag the opposition out of position.

The current meta Tactic is 343, which players are now playing at club level, so it makes sense to mirror that in the international scene too. Before that it was 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. The pace and and style of the games have been influenced by the M word, where the more attractive footballing teams and technical players are dragging the game to being less of the typical English game and more towards the South American and Spanish style of play. Personally I think the old style of play with more direct passing and getting the ball out wide to a winger or up to an ogre in attack, can still work at club level when you can coach the players day in and day out, but international football needs the players to be comfortable with what they know and how they play.

I saw the comparison between Wales and Forest for the goal last night. Taking unnecessary risks at the back.
