AK knows exactly what he is doing. The priority with our team sliding down the table due to the huge number of goals conceded was to tighten up at the back. He's done that with three new players and one previously derided senior pro. That square at the back of Fig, Fox, Colback and Watson has performed brilliantly in

(a) being a settled four over the last six games
(b) cut out many, but not all, mistakes
(c) become a vocal engine room driving the whole team.

Karanka was a world class defender and it shows in his decision making in bringing in Fig and moving Fox across. We can delve through the archives on here to find those who questioned that but they've been firmly silenced. There's creativity in the middle too but obviously we need a striker.

Everyone involved with the club knows this so AK has been very clever in that he has tightened up the back and sent us on a morale boosting unbeaten run. We're safe now and these unspectacular 0-0 games are helping to improve confidence for next season hugely.

I'm delighted in the way we've turned from being a team that everyone was dying to play and bully, to one that nobody wants to face because we're tough to break down, have a giant (in stature and ability) of a goalkeeper and can, sometimes, hit the goal trail. Praise today for Matty Cash. Knocked over nearly as much as Tomlin but never once stayed down and always fighting for the second ball. COYR!

We've turner the corner alright. Now to keep the consistency. I don't mind if we draw all the remaining matches.

Great post hog. One thing I would add is the addition of velios up front removing brereton, Ben has pace but has no ariel attributes, poor decision making etc. Lee Tomlinso is crying out for a clever more streetwise stiker to feed to and off. Murphy looks wooden and unfit so velios to me fits the bill.
So pleased for Fox, we now have a keeper a captain, tenacity and move the ball quicker. Real positive steps!!!

Rutland. I'm in complete agreement about Vellios. I'm sure he's got something to offer and if only he'd scored a couple in the limited time he's had on the pitch he'd be starting. Having said that the goal against Hull in the cup was well taken and If BB had passed to him with 5 minutes to go at Norwich he'd almost certainly have scored the winner. Oh wait. Perhaps that's why BB DIDN'T pass to him. No, just kidding. Anyway we're safe and I think AK can rotate Ben, Murph and The Apostle for the last 9 games. I'm sure there's another 5 star goal-fest in one of these last few games.

Went to the Derby game and was pleasantly surprised.
First game of the Aitor era and it was a far cry from anything I’ve seen from us in the last decade.
We were so solid in the midfield to the point that it covered for the limitations of what is a makeshift defence.
Nothing against the back four, they have put in a shift, but only Figueiredo will be anywhere near the starting back line next year.
Was slightly disheartened by the signing of Watson and Colback because of their ages, but there is clearly a gulf in class when compared to our developing youngest.

Would like to see us get to 60 points but probably 55-58 more likely

Yep 👍 I agree. albeit I reckon it was the best left back In the world ever who spotted that fox was no left back but could hold his own at centre back.

I'd forgotten Psycho had Fox in the centre, 2star. Funny that the world's greatest left back and a Galactico left-sided centre half saw him there, but a Cheese connoisseur and a baker boy put him back out on the left.

Hog
Your two thumbs down will be FF79 and Skegsjay who are getting very bitter and picky in their old age. They like many have forgotten when we last had a decent manager who is trying to do the best for our club before self interest because he has an absolute faith in his own ability which is why he is getting a tune out of the good pro's he has acquired and retained?
Onward and Upward

Red that's not on.
Said my piece and what makes you right anyway.
So far we have sacked a manager with a 40%win record and replaced him with one who has a 25% win record.
So that's why I'm not going overboard about a manager winning three out of twelve.
Simples as skeggs would say

FF79

Aitor is not behond having decisions questioned, and nor should he be, but if you are going to make win ratio's it would be only fair to compare both their first games at the club, I'm pretty sure Warburton did not have a 40% win rate in his first games when joining Forest.

13 Mar 2018 21:44:12
Well Robbo let's see after 37 games who has the best win ratio?
He's played 12 already so 25 to go and in that time will have had two transfer windows.
So would you agree no excuse if there's no improvement?

FF79

What am I wrong about with my post?
1.The thumbs down were not you and Skegs or
2. Karanka is not a decent manager doing his best for the club?

By the way I'll settle for him achieving the 48% win ratio he got a Boro which is the relevant stat in your nonsense!

14.) 14 Mar 2018
14 Mar 2018 13:23:33
46.8% actually red.
I'll let you know when I put a thumbs down in future,I'm not interested in thumbs up or down and just saying I don't like a certain brand of football played by a lot of managers nowadays Karanka being one of them.
Prefer managers to be versatile in their play not one dimensional.

Ff you say a brand of football that you don’t like but what about warbo’s tactics or lack of them?your saying you was happy playing tippy tappy possession football in our own half?this to me doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.warbos football was shocking at times and some of the most boring.whilst warbo was here as were were no1 for the most passes in our own half!
God I love that sort of football!

FF79,
Forest need to walk before they can run after the nightmares of WMD and Fawaz dismantling the club.
You will be very happy with the winning football under AK next season as he replicates his Boro promotion season scoring 60+ goals and a positive goal difference of 30+!
Cheer up and get behind our leader Victor?
