Barry Fry has said he is aware Marriott's agent has spoken to Nottingham Forest, Aitor has spoken to my manager about Jack, and Luke Dowling, Forest's sporting director has also shown an interest in Jack, but Nottingham Forest have not put a bid in yet.

I'd like to see us get Marriott. I'd also like to see us go in for Vydra, i think with those two upfront we would see goals like we haven't seen since the times of Earnshaw and Tyson.

We need goals,he scores goals,he apparently wants to sign for us,get it done!!

i agree i'd like to see him and vydra, not just one striker having to bare the pressure of having to be the one to consistently score. let's say we can get them 2 in for a total of about 14mil, carvalho for 13mil, goncalves on loan, dawson free. i'd say then maybe a left back, keeper, centre mid and centre back. it won't be cheap but if we get it done we’re laughing! apparently we have a lot to spend anyway because of us paying money off last season or something.

Oi!!! "No 22" where are you mate??? Your the Number Cruncher??? How much do you think we've got to spend??? 💷💷💷🤔🤔🤔

They're just trying to start a bidding war, clever by them but I think we should walk away. Prefer to spend it on another Mendes player.😉

How much we’ve got to spend and what the budget is are not the same thing, but I assume we have the following.

A very open league with only boro looking really strong.

A nod from Barry fry who has said forest will “have a really good go at it” this season.

A owner who isn’t afraid to spend and who wants up this season.

A mysterious clearing of 38 mill in the accounts for ffp.

The new prem tv rights money (although that doesn’t look to have risen much surprisingly)

High season ticket sales and increased revenue.

Some saleable dead wood.

A better chance of being in televised matches if were at the top end of the table.

The new (last season) ability to stream games live.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we spent 45 million.

The remit seems to be “get what you need to do the job” that doesn’t mean AK will spend the lot but it is possible.
I’d use this strategy too if I was an owner losing a couple of mill a month.

I think that’s why MW had to go.
Promises of jam tomorrow we’re not cutting it, and the club was bleeding to death without moving forward too much.

Mario got a more experienced manager and started backing him. This is pretty much 5hit or bust now, but it’s being done smartly so any failure will be cushioned by sales of promising world beating kids like the ones we are buying from benfica.
Youth with massive potential will always hold its money so the investment is sound.

It doesn’t matter what we spend? It matters what we lose and losing 2 mill a month over two seasons is Worse than blowing 45 mill this season.
They are the same loss but the latter is less boring.

If the club blows up we go back to playing kids from the Academy and Olympiacos rejects.

Not so bad really because the club will still have good support and lots to look forward too. as long as the owner sticks around.

If he doesn’t the clubs reputation and value will almost certainly rise.

Jacmar hope he's better than Tyson?
35 goals for us in six seasons and three of them in league one.

Not so sure that there is a smart way of doing 5hit or bust??? especially if it doesn't work out, the players would not have been performing so their value would be going down rather than up?

no 22 - I've got your figures now and I love the idea of the smart way of playing 5hit or bust , can you just run it by me one more time??? :)

Great reply No22, makes sense to me.
Personally I’d not considered the gamble against the current losses of circa £2million a month. That to me is what makes this an interesting strategy.

Fingers crossed this works out and we get who we need and push on

Surely though we'll still be losing 2 mill a month over the season anyway so if 50 mill was spent you'd have to add 20 odd million to it making it a 70 million pound gamble??

When a team fails it doesn;t mean all players are garbage?

There are plenty of times great players shine in teams but for whatever reason the team fails but the individuals with the real quality go on to be sold for high prices.

There seems to be something more appealing to cubs buying players performing well in a poor team.

We should be running a clean, tight, good quality club in every area. That means 2 players for every position.

The first 11 should be the best quality you can afford, the second 11 being made up of good reinforcements, and the homegrown kids filling in the gaps after that.
The kids should not be first choice! That has been proven with the exception of Cash.

We need a proper first team!
Can anyone remember when we last had a first team and not a squad of rejects and pretenders?
Where is the first 11?

MW only had about 5 players with shirt numbers in the first 11! We had no #3 if I remember correctly.

This club needs to settle down and have 11 first team regular senior players of a good age and the highest level of quality we can afford.

The second 11 can come from some of the players we already have but are back up! The kids should be used after that or when they show they have earned it.
BB is taking the p122 with some of his performances. What is that all about.

Sometimes I wish we'd have sold him for £12 mill or whatever. Far too entitled to the shirt and thinks he's made it. Needs busting back down the pecking order by some real players.

Let's have a squad of 24 decentpros who want to play for the club and stop talking about getting rid of solid regular performers like Lichaj!
That cuts the cost right there because we currently employ about 50 losers.

The costs are the same if you get rid of the dead wood. They even reduce if the young players are on less money than the players moved on.
Seems every prem has been wants 40k a week these days? How many of those should we nursemaid into retirement and how long is that sustainable?

This club has the fans and support to increase revenues by filling the ground.

Let me put it like this.
If you had a shop would you want all of the shelves filled or just some of them? All of them of course!! So why do we have empty seats in our ground? It's just ridiculous.
Football clubs that win anything have momentum and you can feel it through the cities they come from.

Running on a stagnant budget is all well and good but not if you're kidding yourself that some magic promotion is going to arise. Yeah, you think you're being responsible but you're still peeing money down the drain every month and you're still going to lose long term because it's not exciting.

Mario knows this. He's probably got one eye on shifting the young players to Olympiacos if it all goes wrong.

Doing it this way changes the whole philosophy, but we haven't had the foresight, money, or right owner to have the balls to push it through.

There should be some creative way of selling the remaining seats in the grounds. If there isn't then we need to do away with the traditional season ticket way of selling seats.
Maybe there should be a name plate added to the seat of the fan who books two consecutive season cards so they have an affinity and have to come back?

Why doesn't 888 do something where you make a £20 bet and you get a pop at a free ticket for one of the lower gate midweek games if you lose. No one seems to be trying hard enough in this industry. Well apart from the agents!

A new stand would help no end. :)

I’d suggest that any side that has got great players who are increasing in value are doing well, you might get a situation where an individual is head and shoulders above his team mates in a poor side.
