Starting to really worry about our clubs transfer situation/policy. NOT in their targets or ambitions but in their actual ability to do get the job done. Take the latest, we apparently get a new forward. He has his medical, the chairman posts his tweets, yet now we have to talk to his club. The Hobbs situation all seems wrong. There are other players recently that we've wanted to and almost signed but didn't complete on for reasons we are always told were out of the clubs control. As I said, i'm not questioning Billy's targets or Fawaz's support for him or his ambitions for the club. It's almost like we don't know how to do it properly, to the point of anoying both the players in question or their clubs and so losing out.

1.) 26 Jan 2014
So you have a player you want to sign, do you sign him and pay the fee then give him a medical? No, he goes for the medical then the clubs sign the paperwork for the transfer to be completed and then money is exchanged. Djebbour has already agreed terms and signed all he can as a player, the fee has been agreed, just about signing it off tomorrow. Probably can't do the international money transfers on a Sunday?

As for Hobbs, the few was agreed between clubs and is believed to be around 950k but as there is now more interest in Hobbs after a good start to forest career, he thinks he can demand a bigger pay packet which NFFC do not agree with. The fee between clubs was agreed 11 days ago and a contract is there for Hobbs but he hasn't signed. He is out in public saying he wants to play for us, but at what price? It is up to the player now!

Not everything is a big cover up and I believe fawaz and billy are being very professional with their approaches for players. They could out Hobbs as a gready player but instead it's all behind closed doors and they are trying to sort out a deal.

2.) 26 Jan 2014
O they just fluked the last 13 or so permanent transfers that they have completed then? Doom and gloom doom and gloom

3.) 26 Jan 2014
Definitely agree with your main point that we clearly need a competent, experienced chief exec. However I don't think the djebbour deal is an example of that. My take on the situation is that it's a done deal but just that both clubs need to submit the paperwork which can't be done over the weekend. I actually think the djebbour deal has been fairly swift by our standards!

Keeno

4.) 26 Jan 2014
You are reading far too much into this. firstly djebbour will most likely just have to wait to Monday to submit final paperwork. Secondly Danny graham is complex as hull have most likely paid a season long loan fee etc so negotiations are needed there with all 3 clubs which will be time consuming and with Hobbs. he's out of contract in a couple months I can imagine fawas Is trying to get him without paying the extortionate fee.

It really is a lot simpler than you think, in other words don't Crap yourself and have a little faith

5.) 26 Jan 2014
I know where you are coming from but trandfers these days are very complex and with our set up at Forest then you can see why things drag out a tad. You got to remember this is a rumours site and that we do not know for sure that we have actually targeted some of the players mentioned. Plus with twitter and other social media speculation is out there so quickly and some people take it as fact way too early.?Things were so much simpler in Brian Cloughs days. I still believe the club have invested very wisely to date, yes there are disappointments but that comes with the territory. We must spend wisely to nurture the successful future of our great club!

6.) 26 Jan 2014
We are still operating as a club without a chief executive. Could this be the reason other clubs seem to be running rings around us?

7.) 26 Jan 2014
I have the same concerns/questions myself. It seems we need a legitimate version of Jim Price to conclude the deals rather than an inexperienced (in the UK) owner who has lots of non-NFFC matters to deal with, I. e. is he really able to devote sufficient time to player signings when he has so many other irons in the fire?

8.) 26 Jan 2014
Ye we can't possibly know how to sign a player because Fawaz hasn't signed any since his arrival! :/

{Ed034's Note - I'm glad somebody else has put that because I couldn't be bother to reply to it. Stupid statement to make

9.) 26 Jan 2014
We need a CEO who knows how to get down and dirty who can put out feelers long before we get to the stage we do. Someone who is clinical and take the emotion that Fawaz a red hot supporter may have. Someone whose agenda unlike Arthur is what's the best decisions moving forward

{Ed034's Note - if fawaz was how you have just described him, Hobbs would be signed by now.
Are you suggesting fawaz isn't doing the best for this club??

10.) 26 Jan 2014
What rubbish you post

Signing players can be a messy complicated affair with many pieces of the jigsaw puzzle to fit together.

Things can and do go wrong particularly when looking for players of good quality like forest are.

11.) 26 Jan 2014
Fawaz said on interview got 5 targets and going to sign 2or3 sure fawaz will not let us down
Bedford red

12.) 26 Jan 2014
Hi don't think we will get Hobbs because of the nee problem fawaz will not pay for him and because lascelles is a lot better now he's played with Hobbs if we get this sticker in we will be ok I think fawaz needs a bit of help with the transfers I think he is doing hit him self

13.) 26 Jan 2014
There was rumours yesterday about a new CEO, maybe it's all in hand, we are building steadily, might be next season before we are ready for prem.

14.) 26 Jan 2014
In this day and age you seriously think a deal can`t be completed on a weekend?Having said that I do believe Djebbour will sign, we don`t know all the details of the transfer so don`t panic.

{Ed034's Note - no it can't be.

15.) 26 Jan 2014
Have those concerns if we don't sign anyone by end of week. But by then the business will be done, djebbournwill be finalised tomorrow, I expect Vaughn to be permanent too and one more player wouldn't be a shock. Just wait until the window closes before pushing panic button

16.) 26 Jan 2014
Totally agree with poster. It is not a doom and gloom post as someone suggests it is actually an upbeat post. I think a chief exec to handle these negotiations is the missing link and possibly the only thing we still need to get the club ready for real success.

17.) 26 Jan 2014
Hull are desperate for the money to buy new players and are sweating a bit. With Hobbs wanting more money in wages and us not wanting to pay it, think hull are just trying to put a bit of pressure on us to offer him more or lose him. No player is above our great club and if we lose Hobbs rather then pay him silly wages, then so be it.

18.) 26 Jan 2014
Part of the agreement with hull hobbs can still be recalled for emergency cover, they have just lost the center back for 6 weeks so hobbs will be back itk

19.) 26 Jan 2014
Hobbs is a victim of his own success and Forest are the ones to suffer so far. Bit of a smoke screen about the emergency recall because of the injuries. Fawaz agreed a deal with Hull but not personal terms with the player. Fawaz said as much so I suspect other clubs have offered Hobbs a bigger contract and no doubt his agent is playing games as well.

20.) 26 Jan 2014
I fully expected the deal for rafik to be confirmed tommorow. And for those doubters, you know you can't move that kind of money around from an app off your mobile right. patience for crying out loud, patience

21.) 26 Jan 2014
Fellow fans are starting to bug me now.

If this sort of stuff never happened in the footballing world then it would be boring.

I can't believe how negative this club can become even though were in an 11 ganes unbeaten run its embarrassing.

22.) 26 Jan 2014
Do you honestly think olympiacos wanna do money transfer when they have a match to prepare for because that's all has to happen djebbour has declared himself a forest player already and as for Hobbs a deal was agreed but hull and crooked nose decided to recall him when a defender of theirs got injured even though they had 2 defenders on the bench this to me is a game that hull are playing to try and create a bidding war

23.) 26 Jan 2014
What a ridiculous post. I mean its so bad that the chairman has already spent millions on players and saved us from the bottomless pit of debt and sliding down the leagues! It's a disaster!

Because one player has been recalled from a loan, suddenly it's 'the club doesn't have the ability to get jobs done'.

How about, let's appreciate the amount of money that has been spent to turn around our fortunes and let's all get behind the club and cheer them to a potential promotion fight!

YOU REEEEEEDDDDDDDSSSSSSS!!

24.) 26 Jan 2014
If as suggested in a previous post that Cortese was at the city ground, maybe he is being talked to?.

25.) 26 Jan 2014

Honestly the problem is that the closest most of these negative posters have got to running a business is on Football Manager. It takes more than one click to sign a good player. Some players are easy to sign because they aren't wanted by anyone else, their clubs can't eke out every penny for them, their contracts have expired or they are desperate to play for your club because it is at the top of the tree. Face it, we aren't that club, we don't want to sign unwanted players and class talent costs. Sure Fawaz could throw cash at Hobbs, Rhodes, Wickham, Leadbitter et al. But he is businessman and knows if he does that the club will become unsustainable, players will join us only for the money (not for the challenge and the history) and every club in future will ask top whack for any player we enquire about because they know we will pay it. I say Fawaz, take time, drive a hard bargain, don't pay over the odds because of fan pressure, build for the future not just for today and expect a bit of slack from your supporters when deals don't come off or the odd transfer goes wrong. We owe you respect and our patience and you really shouldn't have to keep apologising.

26.) 26 Jan 2014
Hate to say it but we don't have a proper chief executive at the club who knows the ins and outs of transfer negotiations. All we have is fawaz with the money and his list of players, Billy with no money and his list of players and Jim price! We do look very amateur when it comes to transfer dealings let's not forget Vaughan has also gone back to his parent club so the squad is weaker than it was at the start of January.

{Ed034's Note - for a someone who you think looks amateurish, we are very well and in fact better than most in the division.
Vaughans deal has just ended and billy, fawaz, the player and the players expect him to be playing Thursday.
Djebbour paperwork will go through tomorrow.
That's just leaves us to sort out Hobbs or bring in somebody else

27.) 26 Jan 2014
Imo we are doing well, clubs are seeing that just because our owner has money it doesn't mean we will be held to ransom regarding transfers. Agents have a massive input in transfers and in seeing $$$ for themselves. Cardiff have said they would have signed more were it not for agents. We are not washing our linen in public and are keeping our counsel smartly and professionally. Regardless of transfer business I reckon we have enough in the tank to get us up. Injuries are clearing up and the finish line is visible and more importantly attainable.
Ro red.

28.) 26 Jan 2014
Think you are spot on here and just emphasises the point of complexities within transfers. Agents are so pivotal and some players won't even wash behind there ears without condulting their agents LOL
Rutland Red

29.) 26 Jan 2014
Stupid post born out of lack of knowledge and fact, Or I guess Cox, Geddy, Lansbury, Wilson, LiHaj, Gera, Patterson, Abdoun, De vries etc etc the list goes on never happened??
Some people on here really can be stupid!

30.) 26 Jan 2014
Yeah let's get Mark Arthur back! I can sense a rumour ha ha

31.) 26 Jan 2014
The problem is the last CEO cost us 900k fawaz got rid of everyone so at this time we are struggling we will save a lot of money which is good for us but we will suffer with the transfer and the mess I like what he is doing to run the best club in the world on a shoestring is very hard he will save millions and put the money into the plays on the pich when I look at team it is awesome we are looking so good

32.) 26 Jan 2014
Transfers are a complicated Bit of Business, then you add on FFP Makes Things Even harder Fellow Reds Need to chill a lot let Fawaz do his Thing. We will have Players in come the end of the Transfer window

33.) 26 Jan 2014
26 Jan 2014 15:06:46
Its obviously hard for us to sign players because teams know we have money. Fawaz has a business brain and won't be ripped off. Which is only a good thing for the club. Last thing I want is a chairman who throws money at other teams for average players. I'm happy with the window so far. Weve got a striker which was what we need. Hopefully Vaughan will sign and get Hobbs back. That's all we need. To much will ruin the team spirit. Sick of our fans wanting us to sign 4/5 players every window.

34.) 26 Jan 2014
We will have a new chief exec within 2weeks

35.) 26 Jan 2014
I apologise for giving the wrong idea earlier. I know Fawaz will make the right decisions going forward, I meant Arthur the last CEO for me did not always make decisions that way.

{Ed034's Note - no need to apologise mate, just nice to understand what you meant

36.) 26 Jan 2014
I'd personally tell Hull to balls.

37.) 26 Jan 2014
I still think Hull recalled Hobbsto put us under pressure to buy him. Why would you recall an injured player to solve an injury crisis?

Although Hobbs has been excellent, a DM is thr last piece of the jigsaw for me

38.) 26 Jan 2014
I can't wait till end of the season when all forest fans are singing the same tune were on the way to the premier league I understand a lot of the negative comments don't get me wrong every forest fan wants the best for there team we dream about it day and night but we after get behind this team and management and owner they are thinking the same coyr

39.) 26 Jan 2014
Raffiks own bird feed says he has signed for forest.

40.) 26 Jan 2014
These posts are a great example of why football clubs should not be run by fans. Forest would be bust inside 12 months!

Football has just signed the biggest TV deal ever, BT have entered the market and FFP is now due. Players and agents know that this window is going to be an absolute frenzy for clubs wanting to either stay up or get promoted in view of the riches on offer and the impact of FFP.

Everyone knows Forest have money and are playing hardball on fees and salary.

So far we have purchased extremely well and if it were my money and I could not do a deal on my terms then sorry everyone no more deals this window but I promise you there will be a queue at the door in the summer as players contracts expire.
Stick or bust, red or black, even money, these are the January odds if Fawaz goes with the fans.
Wise man sticks and waits for the worm to turn!
Redinexile

41.) 27 Jan 2014
Forest history in the January transfer window is not very good. However don't forget Fawaz has more sucess in the summer. Maybe it is something to do with the timescale and complexity of the deals.

42.) 27 Jan 2014
27 Jan 2014 08:56:02
If this is the case, please explain what happened in the summer. Thanks

43.) 27 Jan 2014
I wish people would stop being so negative. Fawaz is a fan of our great club like the rest of us, and without the many signings he has made and his investment where on earth would we be. Football and transfers are very complex particularly in January. Some fans need to get a grip.
