What on earth are the FA doing appointing Rio Ferdinand onto the FA Commission into the future of football?
Just because he has so much time on his hands to own one the most prolific self publicist twitter accounts hardly qualifies him as an expert on the state of our game!
We need grassroots experts not self publicists. He is typical of what needs to change not the solution!

Because they need to have someone on there still playing and involved with clubs set ups etc. I think that is important but whether he is the right bloke, like u say is extremely debatable and u hope it isn't purely motivated out of politically correctness as a few ex players have been criticising the make up of the panel

2.) 21 Oct 2013
We all know why he's on there but there are many other black players more suited to the role and have a lot more experience than him Brendan Batson, viv Anderson and Cyril regis come to mind

{Ed034's Note - I don't see why there is a problem with him being on it.

3.) 21 Oct 2013
Because he's a buffoon

{Ed034's Note - for what reason???

4.) 21 Oct 2013
The FA commission is for the greater good of English football. If memory serves, Ferdinand pulled out of an England qualifier through "Injury" then setabout a 15 hour round trip for a job on TV. Is there a conflict there somewhere? I don't know the guy, but he comes across as someone who hasn't got enough upstairs to make a difference.

Whopper

{Ed034's Note - not sure how travelling to do that has anything to do with his ability to play.
he has been in the England set up for years, has played at the top level for years and will add something different to what the existing panel bring

5.) 21 Oct 2013
The diagnosis was a back problem, long haul flights & backs are not a good combination. He doesn't need the money, out of respect for the fans could he not of avoided the TV trip. The principal annoyed people and called into question his commitment to the cause.

Whopper

{Ed034's Note - his back wasn't good enough to play but was good enough to fly. he has always given is all to play for England, so its unfair to say he is full of it or to question his desire.

6.) 21 Oct 2013
Did he not get banned for not doing a drug test

7.) 21 Oct 2013
He was fit enough to play ed he played the week before and after, he pulled out because of his training regime, then against medical advice flew for 15 hours, also there is a strong suspicion from the secrect footballer that the story about the recent monkey gate was leaked because Danny wellbeck didn't understand the joke and rio found out and went mental and called the sun (the only paper that supported him during his missed drug test and has had almost exclusive access to editorial interviews) suggesting he has has good links with jurnos there, and I'm sure most of us would agree that there is an issue between rio and roy due to him being left out for the euros, while the last part may well be considered conjecture on my part the first part is 100 true (please feel free to check) on the basis the first part is true and my belief that second is true I can't believe that someone that seems to want to undermine the current England manager at any point that he has the opportunity, makes me question if he has the best interests of our national team at heart, or if it is more about boosting his own ego and profile.

{Ed034's Note - that's for each one of us to decide. I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt.

8.) 21 Oct 2013
Yes he did and he was the first to jump on the bandwagon over jon terry and ashly cole

{Ed034's Note - you mean when he was backing up his brother??

9.) 21 Oct 2013
I don't like to admit it but I agree with the whopper!
Rio is a political appointment on the Back of opticians unnecessarily getting involved in football. Had a very public issue with hodgson as well so an even stranger decision. Think their are better
Individuals to guide the development of youngsters and the national team future

Opticians is the iPhones version of politicians!

11.) 21 Oct 2013
This commission hasn't got off to the best of starts, it seems Greg Dyke has been coaxed into throwing Ferdinand in because the ethnic balance wasn't correct, this after the premier league won't fully back the project. The cast is made up of suits & prehistoric football men like Gradi & Wilkinson. Are these people really going to plot a path to world cup success. As for Danny Mills, I am assuming his role is to break peoples legs if they don't conform. If I was on that panel i'd keep quiet & let Glenn Hoddle do the talking.

12.) 22 Oct 2013
Keeno- opticians is the iphones version of politicians, magic lol
Other than that Rio served England well but definitely has a problem with the way Roy dropped him?
I don't get these background England quangos crap, jobs for the boys an the fans are paying for it.
Agree with Hoddle all the way
