Is it just me or are we a particularly unlucky club in buying proven goalscorers who then don't score for us. Cox, sharp, Henderson, Mackie to some extent, all used to score for fun until they put on the red shirt?

It's the Forest curse!

An endless list of Managers that cannot set-up a balanced team to get the best out of strikers and no quality striker coach on the books.

Add McGoldrick Holt Paterson and Garner to the list

You are dead right I always said if we had Shearer as a youth player we could have transformed him into a 10 goal a season striker.
Playing up front for Forest must be a nightmare

It does seem that way, even Djebbour was prolific, as was Veldwijk in Holland. We do have a gem in Assombalonga though - such a shame he is injured and we don't really have the money to get a replacement in the summer, perhaps a loan move will materialise.

We are not unlucky in the true sense, except with Britt.

Where we have gone wrong with strikers is we have brought proven strikers that are injury prone, so what did the club/manager expect?

We have also brought strikers such as Sharp who need regular game time to score regularly, but were chopped and changed.

We have brought strikers that need to play along side another striker, but then play them up front on their own.

We have brought strikers that like ball to feet then hoofed it to them. Some striker can not play with their back to goal, but then are expected to.

We have brought strikers that were scoring for fun in a certain system, then played for Forest in another, and off course the old being played out of position.

So can you wonder why it goes wrong.

Excellent points, the purchases of strikers has seemed a bit haphazard and they aren't built around the system - having said that the system changes quite a bit as we change managers quite a bit. There is no consistency at the club.

Not all our strikers have been crap.
Clough always notched up bout 20
Hooydonk 30 odd Johnson 30
Collymore 20 plus shearingham
Roy. Going back further birtles woodcock ect.
Problem we've had in recent seasons are.
Sharpe never got proper run in team. Billy always chopping changing did it with what his name he did flips when he scored. In play offs dropped him. Name escapes me lol

We do not play passing football it is s easy as that,
Look at the top two who pass the ball for fun and every player wants the ball Football is an easy game pass and move make angles for others to pass the ball. That is how BC played it for years

DF as said that when he played here we had a very good partnership in PVH & Kevin. Campbell , yes we did and they worked very well together, let's hope this means he,ll be going with a front two next season ,to me this is the only way we will see succesful strikers at Forest and if we still have MA with us we could frighten the championship and give us something good and exciting to watch ,may as well go for it, s--- or bust !
