Mardy is a nottingham word used to describe someone who sulks when they don’t get their own way. Why this word came into my head while I was reading some of the comments on here I am not really sure.

I have been following and contributing to this site for quite a while now and patterns are easy to spot. When we lose there are a few who instantly come on calling for managerial changes.
Nobody is happy when our team loses, but it happens.
By all accounts two of our most reliable players, Vaughan and Mancienne were at fault for two of the Ipswich goals.
Our team avoided relegation on goal difference no more than 7 months ago. Since then our leading goal scorer decided to leave for one of our rivals.
Mark Warburton is a good intelligent manager and he is trying to develope a young squad and play a brand of football that Forest have traditionally been associated with.

I agree with the majority of your thoughts wishey. I don’t believe where we finished last season is overly relevant to this one we were a lower mid table team last season and we are about that now. I can’t recall any successful forest team over the years being so pedestrian and making pointless passes and eventually giving the ball away. The only game that was the ‘ Forest way’ was QPR, fast ruthless incisive lots of end product. Generally I’m not associating the football now with how I’d hoped we would play.

I agree it all takes time. But I was at the game yesterday and I have to say we pass the ball so much but to no effect and I can't believe how many chances we take at the back. We got caught again and again and we gave the ball away so much. When we moved it quickly we looked good. Osborn was good with good delivery. But Walker did nothing beside the goal. Murphy was disappointing and Vaugn gave it away too much. I confess I don't go every week but I was disappointed with our performance.

Redfin, there have been periods when we’ve looked tidy. I do hope those are the moves that MW hopes we will create and not he stuff as you say that is very pointless. I’d be interested in the following stats
1. How much of our possession is in our own half
2. How quickly we give the ball away once we move it forward?
There are some genuine positives but yes if you catch a game when we are bad we are genuinely bad mate.

Does hoofing the ball long work? Yep
Could we get promoted doing it? Yep
Would I want to watch it. No, no no!

Passing the ball means we have the ball. While we have the ball, they, whoever they are, can’t score.

Are we getting the passing game right? No!
Should we abandon the passing game just because it is not 100% successful? No!
We have to stick with the manager and the system until they work.
Or we could sack the manager and start our mad spiral of decline all over again!

I wouldn't want long ball wishey but I believe in mixing it up. I played centre back for 15 yrs. If you play a team who plays the same way you can predict it. Its like cricket. A batsman gets in and settles against a pace bowler so you put a spinner on and he gets him first over. Against a passing side you push up and squeeze the space. When a team do this they are open to a ball popped over the top. Keep the defence guessing is best. Mix it up. I like Mancienne but he was poney yesterday. The 3rd goal he just needs to put it off the pitch. Waghorn never touched him he just fell over trying to turn inside and play it back.

If we stopped playing the passing game and resorted to playing counter attacking football with this squad,we'd get slaughtered every week,we don't posses the players to do that and we didn't before warbo arrived.
The sheep decided to get rid of ince Bryson and Hughes and replace with experienced no nonsense players.
Short term fine,long term not.
I live on the border with the sheep and a lot of their fans are saying it's ok while their winning, but not nice to watch,

Wishy I am afraid most fans seem to have some kind of short term memory loss. Six months ago the club was on its knees, but 40 years ago everyone can remember how good we were!!!!

Sorry Wishey passing for passings sake is not the type of football that will get us anywhere soon. Passing game is good if you play it at pace and with a purpose. We just don't do that. Don't wish to harp back to the old days but Clough would have had a fit and fined the players for some of our passing out from the back at the moment. A passing game is great if it's mostly in the opposition half but not when it's just shuffling the ball around in your own half at risk to conceding

Maybe in a couple of transfer windows time MW will be getting what he wants from the team. Its a huge turn around in a short space of time. I don't have a short memory. I am just saying it was poor yesterday. Other games could be totaly different. I live half hour from ipswich so don't get up to many games. My son is now into forest so hope to be at more home games soon.

Syred

I assume for you we sack Mark Warburton, get in Warnock and instantly make 75% of our current squad surplus to requirements. I mean why would we need Dowell, Mckay, Osborne, Vaughan, Bouchalakis, Ward, Clough, Cash, Cohen and Bridcutt if we are going to play like no ball. Walker and Cummings would not fit in too well either.

We have to keep our nerve and keep it n the same path. There are no short term fixes!

Wishey the words of wisdom rises again.
Mardy. maybe but we are not delusional or buy into Warburtons way of thinking and neither do we expect instant results.
We as fans deserve better than this from a so called experienced manager with intelligence. this signifies you haven’t a clue what you are on about.
You say we are passing. yes this is true but all the Possession without goals creates nothing.

If you are happy with this so be it.
To say he is intelligent is in fact an insult to intelligence but coming from a fan who has tunnel vision and is obviously oblivious to Warburtons Wiley tactics I expect nothing less than sarcasm from Warburtons army of followers.
Time give him time you say. how much time do you propose?
You need to take a step back and evaluate your lame excuses for his performances of late.

To blame Vaughn and Mancienne is for the defeat isn’t fair the team and manager should all be held responsible.

The manager wasn't on the pitch when those two decided to make errors.
If you were the manager no doubt you would have picked them,so how from the touchline would you have prevented them from doing it?

Wishey 6 of those players you mention don’t play under warburton anyway.lol.with this squad Warnock would of made us hard to beat.i would defo rather be 13th than 2nd in the table everyday of the week!

FBB, How long shouldn’t we give him you ask? In my opinion he needs 3 years to sort the mess he inherited.
Over that time continuity, a few decent signings and the academy players maturing and improving will all point us in the right direction.
Mid table this year, and kick on next year.

Tactics, playing our best players, adapting our gameplay to overcome the opposing team.
The manager picks the team, trains them, guides them.
He gets paid like the players to win games but not there to gain most of the possession of the or to lose by fine margins. .it’s football not rocket science.

Cardiff are hard to.beat and shite to watch.

We did the ‘hard to beat’ style under poor old Freedman and the Mardy lot got him sacked too.

We did the continental Manaager under Montanier.

We did the home grown manager under Pearce

We did the ex national manager under McClaren

We stick and we build, or we sack and start again.

Stick by him and back him.

Sutton we are only allowed 11 players mate. Not even you can play all the squad members.

Who wouldn’t you have played against Ipswich? Hindsight is a wonderful thing and seems to come with 22:20 vision with some of the smart harris’s on here.

Such a simple game?not
Every manager and every player gets paid to win games at all 92 clubs.
Someone will finish top of the pile,Some will get relegated.
Some will just miss out on promotion,Some will just escape relegation.some will just plod along mid table, every club plays their part in this,we can't all be winners.

Fawaz’s bank Balance.

You’re spot on mate. Can’t see why I didn’t see your logic before.

Yes we should sack the Manager.
Bring in a long ball specialist because Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea and Barcelona have proved that the keep ball passing game doesn’t work.

Our new manager will say the same thing as the last 10 managers. ‘I need 5 or 6 players to make us competitive.
I can’t see why I missed your point. I must be really stupid.
