Delighted for Danny Fox as made a few keyboard experts on here look stupid with an outstanding show at centre half along with a fine debut from Figueirido. He lacks a bit of pace at full back and is clearly a better central defender were he as never let us down. I hope AK gives this new partnership a chance as it is better than the JW and MM pairing. With Fuentes in at left back and wipe out Eric back after suspension we might just have a back four capable of delivering this season. Not impressed with Darikwa but would be more than happy if he comes good and proves me wrong. U REDS.

One good game makes Fox brilliant? Really, what about all the bad games?

I am delighted Danny Fox was playing CB yesterday. He isn't and never has been a LB.
However with our recent recruitment policy being so poor , especially in the defensive areas, he was a square peg in a round hole. I believe he would have done a basic but reasonable job at LB if he had a half decent left sided midfielder in front of him.
He has had McKay and Dowell so no wonder he has looked exposed.
I hope Fuentes proves his fitness very soon so Fox can stay in a position he should be playing in.
The same applies to whoever plays upfront alone. Without support they look lost.

Retford

Agreed DF has had a lot of undeserved flak since being at the club but despite being out of the picture under a number of managers he has always been the consummate professional. I think some of this goes back to when he joined us having previously opting to move elsewhere earlier in his career when we first tried to sign him.

Pearce switched him to centre back the pre-season he took over and Fox has always looked solid when he has been asked to stand in.

The role of full backs has changed over his later career and given some of the players we put out wide left who cannot track back a world class full back would struggle in our team?

Hope he gets a new contract as he is just the sort of strong character this club needs.

Pearce would have struggled to be Pearce with any of our current lot in front of him. And we thought Woan and Parker were lazy!
