I went to the game against Ipswich so this is my take on it: up until they scored both teams played the same kind of football and looked indistinguishable. We almost got caught out at the beginning of the second half when they came at us - if we had let another goal in then that would have been curtains.
Figuerido was outstanding and so was Fox, they saved us when the DMs could not. Watson had a bad day and nothing he did went right; the team played much better with more fluidity as soon as Bridcutt came on and he seemed to life the side. Colback looked clumsy, and though Guediora tried hard he did not have the pace - Cash should have been on earlier, but did little when he did come on.
The goal was not Osborn's fault, and I think he had an outstanding game. For long periods he stood alone out on the left wing and it took usually two passes to get to him and consequently Ipswich had time to cover him. To my knowledge Darikwa only once tried to get past their left back, and his approach play lacked any form of speed or guile - Cash didn't help him much when he came on. Pants didn't have too much to do but let the players know what he wanted them to do and shouted lots of encouragement. Lolley was the best player on the park, prepared to run at the defence and his goal capped a brilliant performance. Tomlin ambled about and fell over his own feet a lot - Osborn would have been much better in that position with pace to get into the defenders. Brereton worked very hard with little or no support, but the goal will give him encouragement and he made Lolley's goal, so early but hopeful days from him. Vellios looked weak and did not bustle or put himself about at all, he seems too gentle a lad to cope with Championship defenders.
Get in a good left back with some height and put BennyO behind the BrenGun and we'll have a much better team. It won't need a lot to make us more effective next season so we can get into the top Ten. If Cash can improve on the right hand side we will be more effective. From what I've seen and heard lately Dowell has blown his gaff so I wouldn't expect much more from him. I'd like us to give Cardiff a shock and steal a point, Barnsley and Bolton we can beat if we turn up.
It took us 84 minutes to turn up this weekend and the players realised the fans were drifting off after seeing another pedestrian performance. Funny how they all rushed back to the gap at the Trent end once they heard the big roar, the police and stewards holding them back! It's not over till it's over!

Absolutely spot on bsered I agree with all of this. We have an excellent manager who has used what he was able to obtain in January and used those resources well to rescue us. Ben B, Osborne & Cash are or will be very important to our club . Fox and Fig played well but I still worry that the defence is somehow not right even with Colback and Watson in front still we seem to leak goals but I am not sure of the solution. let's hope against Cardiff we play to win the game and infact end the season un beaten in 5 ! Also never leave a match until the 'fat lady blows that whistle'

Quality fullbacks are a must for next season bsered.They make a massive difference at both ends of the pitch.I also think it would be a bad move to blow the budget for Colback.If he wants to join on massively reduced terms and a sensible transfer fee great if not I'd be happy to give Bridcutt or Guedioura a go.Brereton needs to be used off the bench at the right times supplementing a couple of new strikers to continue his development.I actually fancy us to win a couple of the last 4 games.

It's always amazed me over the years,even when we were winning everything how people leave with 10 mins to go,just to get to their cars and make a quick exit?
It's like watching a film and missing what happened or disappointing the missus and nodding off.

{Ed003's Note - that reminds me, how is Mrs Forest79 ? }
