Redinexile, I'm startled by your post, the highest amount Forest have paid for a player is about £6-5m when add on's are taken into account, that was for some lad from Peterborough, oh and he was a Striker.
You are now prepared to double that for a Midfielder, why. We do need a creative element in the team but Strikers are the players that usually fetch the bigger transfer fees.
Why would we go for Lansbury there are plenty of players out there without resorting to Lansbury.
Money does not guarantee success, it is how well you spend the money, not how much you have to throw around.

I think you will find RIE is saying the gamble is well worth taking on this player, and the alternative is signing the likes of Lansbury who will run round a bit, not do very much, and is more worried about what his hair looks like than performance on the pitch.

Lansbury would be a step backwards. He isn’t the player we need. We need pace on the wings, a natural and confident goal scorer/Poacher, a Central midfielder who can pick passes and a Left Back. Probably a keeper too .

Waac you think some fans would know better with what we've been through over the last 10 20 years when it comes to it everyone wants a quick fix what that also means this season if that happens his the messiah ☝️if he doesn't turn it round in the first 10 games with this backing will be gone it does however make for a exciting season even if its for one

WAAC you say money doesn’t guarantee success,I hear this statement quite a lot,yet the biggest spenders or budgets won the prem, the championship, league 1, the Scottish, german Italian,French,Dutch, and 1 of top 2 budgets the Spanish league, etc so maybe really it does guarantee you success!

I'm with you win at all costs.
Red and everyone on here have no idea who this guy is and wether he's any good??
Just looking at the fee and assuming he's good??
Red just believes the chosen one☝️ is the messiah and it'll all work out???
Stupid money for someone not good enough to get in benfica first team.

Well at least Murdoch actually read what I said!
I never said we should pay £13m for a player I was just commenting on the predictable response from the Foremoaners to the news we might.
IMO if they come they will be loans with fee options to buy at the end of the season just like Tobias.

As for stature there are plenty of great examples of compact latin midfielders who run games at the top level. It's the Scottish ones that generally flatter to deceive and having too many in the same team which was Warbo's problem playing Os . Vaughan and McKay together and getting steamrollered.
AK has a great network and so far his signings have been a vast improvement on what came before so just sit back and enjoy the ride?

Stevie f, i do not know how much all those teams you mentioned spent in comparison to those who finished below them, but Derby have spent big over the last two, or three seasons, yes they got in the top six but they are still in the Championship like Forever.
Hull have spent big and are still in the Championship, Birmingham have spent big, and still are in the Championship.
How many of the relegated teams over the years, with parachute payments have failed to get back up straight away.
It does not matter if you have hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions, hundreds of millions, or billions to spend the right players need to be brought in.

Redinexile, although you said if we spend £13m, you also said it is best to play safe, and all the others are upping the ante. If people show concern at a rumour, even if it is only a rumour that the club are considering spending big on one player does not make them moaners.

WAAC you can’t get away from facts and the facts are th the biggest spenders do almost all the winning, when derby spent big others spent bigger, and by the way as far as I know derby are still in existence spending money hasn’t driven them out of business,

Stevie, Cardiff and Burnley and Bournemouth and Huddersfield didn't spend more to get promoted, they just employed top managers to get the best out of the squad.
That's the secret to success and even wolves sacked a manager and put the right man in charge before spending big.
If the manager isn't up to it you can spend all you like? Won't get you anywhere.

Ff799 you may be right about the other 3 but I think you will find Bournemouth ran into ffp troubles getting promoted saved them an embargo, think they had Russian sugar daddy
