On July 31st 1966 Wembley held 100,000 people to watch the final vs West Germany. However, there are about 5 million people who claim to have been there (just like half of Wales reckon they were at Swansea when Gary Sobers hit six sixes in an over) . Be interesting to see in future years how many say they made the trip to Russia if England reach the final this time.

The memory can genuinely play tricks.Many people will tell you we watched the 66 final in colour when it was actually broadcast in black and white. The colour film we are used to was shot for the cinema and only used later on tv.

I was 20 in late 66 and on holiday and watched the final in a bar full of Germans and Italians on a small black and white TV. Re the film i was in the old cinema facing the Vic Center on Milton Street ready to watch it.Their was a supporting film with it about "Yes This is True" about the joys of naturism, nudist camps.Their was a scene where naked men and women were sitting around a camp fire ,I called out" they are roasting their nuts" and was promptly thrown out and missed it.Happy Days.

They reckon on the news that there could be 30 million tv viewers for tonight's match. I've got my waistcoat on again but cannot button it up any more😞 Come on En ger lundðŸ™

Well I bought tickets to go to the final on Sunday but my Mrs picked the same day for us to get married on so can't bloody make it so if someone wants to take my place it's st Marks Church Skegness she will be the woman at the end of the Isle with a angry face ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‰
