I understand that yesterdays game was only a friendly and I have to admit that I knew relatively little about the strength or otherwise of the Bournemouth side fielded but the performance from the side was very very impressive indeed.

I felt that Pantillimon showed a more commanding presence in and around the 12 yard area, Darikwa and Osbourne defended well and looked a threat going forward.

Dawson provided a cool head and a good aerial presence and looked solid alongside Fox.
I was pleased to see that , in my opinion, Guedioura appears to have benefited from a good pre season and looked much sharper than last season.
The Portugese trio where outstanding , in particular Dias, and I genuinely believe they will prove to be a handful for any defence in this league

I thought we possibly looked a little more solid with the introduction of Watson for Colback but that is perhaps to be expected as Colback may not be up to full fitness and having seen his first game against Fulham there is more to come from him.

Grabban and Soudani looked a mile away from anything we have had to offer uo front for some time and were hungry for the ball and all too willing to have a pop on sight of goal.

For me the only glaring misfire was that of Murphy who seemd to be like a fish out of water amongst all the skill and pace on offer and the game just seemed to be passing him by.

He does appear to fit into the managers plans somehwere but at the risk of being insulting I seriously hope it will be for league cup games etc as we now would appear to have much better options.

All in all a seriously good appeteiser before I hope an equally good main course at Ashton Gate next week.

It Was a stronger Bournmouth team we played and beat on Saturday than the Bournmouth team that Bristol city could only draw 1-1 with on Friday night. I know these are only friendlies but hopefully might put a bit of doubt into the Bristol city players heads for this weekend.
