Just watched a cracking FA cup tie. Newport v Leicester.
Just goes to show how much joy fans of all ages get out of watching their team put everything into this fantastic cup competition.
Shame on any club who put out a weakened team and consequently LOST.
Newport fans will remember that match forever.

They should fine clubs millions of pounds for putting out a reserve team it's disgraceful use to be the best cup going

Skegsjay all started by foreign managers initially disrespecting it mate, now it’s no better than any other cup in the world

Is Alex Ferguson really classed as a foreigner?

While I agree unfortunately the Premiership is worth about circa £30m a league place so its not surprising teams field weakened teams?

I thought it started with Ferguson when he decided he wasn’t going to defend the fa cup and put s weakened side out.
Did it let’s blame the foreigners again

Sutton red yep he’s not English is he,and this is the English fa cup isn’t it? Redinexile I agree mate, think the best way to resurrect the cup would be to stick the 4 th champions league place on it

Another hypocritical discussion.the same fans (of all clubs) moaning about the fa cup losing its meaning because teams aren't taking it serious and using a weakened team are the same ones that want younger academy players to get some game time and say that these type of games are the ideal time for them to get itthose players that don’t get loaned out to lower division clubs and are playing in the youth/reserves have that thought in there head that they will get a game in the cup so it gives them something to aim for.
Can’t have it both ways.

As I said red spoilt by money

Fine them 30 million then and distribute to lower leagues. They might then take it seriously.

Sutton think you’ll find it started with wenger and he’s defiantly a foreigner

16.) 07 Jan 2019

Sutton red a hypocritical discussion?? It’s only hypocritical when you say you believe one thing and do another, the fans didn’t ask for the game to be set up in such a way that the greedy big six are able to corner the market in all the top talent young and old , and have so many playing staff they don’t know what to do with them , there should be a wage cap , and a squad size cap , any breach of the rules should be punishable by relegation to the championship, it has got to the ludicrous situation where Chelsea can put out about 4 teams before an above average championship club could give them a game, and yes I do blame the foreign influx for the demise of the cup, because in the country’s they come from their cup competitions have always been regarded as 2nd rate hence the fa cup being the best in the world , sadly no longer,

I’ve got a few other names that I’d use for Ferguson in front of foreigner but I think Ed would block me?

Didn't AF take United's 1st team on a money spinning tour on 3rd round weekend. Leaving a full reserve side to play their FA Cup fixture? Totally disrespected the competition and all of football.

2 star - mainly due to my brother and father being Man Utd fans but also down to his attitude to others and general personality.

07 Jan 2019 18:45:36
Im not sure but was it not Ferguson that was the first manager to get his team to all crowd around the referee to try get him to change any decisions against them.?

{Ed001's Note - he did initiate it as a tactic while at Aberdeen to try and even up what he perceived as a refereeing bias towards the Old Firm pair.}

24.) 07 Jan 2019
07 Jan 2019 19:24:46
I was always disgusted at seeing his team turn into an angry mob purely to intimidate the referee.Don't even start me on Fergietime!

25.) 08 Jan 2019
08 Jan 2019 00:42:32
you can have it both ways you play your strongest team to try and win a game just as if it was a league match and get the kids on the bench and bring them on regardless of the score, its funny because teams start playing their full strength team at qf stage but why not every round, with forest we shown the competition respect even if we didn't go to play football lol when we could of put un23 side out

Regardless of who started picking a weakened team it’s the man who got the £5mill golden handshake that is to blame for it.
