Watched the game on sky and was hoping to be impressed by Carvallaho, Ansarifard, pele and a rejuvinated pantillimon.
All of them awful. I am no fan of Carvallho as you all well know. Lastnight again was no acception. Trying fancy flicks when ball retention was vital. Falling over and so lightweight on the ball. No burst of pace and no tricks to get past his man. Some say he is too clever for this team and has an excellent brain. Not for me. A clever player learns he doesn't. Ansarifard won nothing in the air, bereft of pace and looked so out of depth. Pele was jusy not at the races, maybe needs more time as i heard good things from saturday. darikwa is still poor Benny cannot stay on his feet and Pantillimon displayed all his weaknesses in one match yet again. In reality i think colback needs a yacob around him, we lost shape lastnight and were easily torn appart exposing a fragile back 4. The subs were ineffective and how carvallaho stayed on is beyond me.
Mon and Roy will have learned an awful lot lastnight. At least Robinson will be back, Grabban maybe? But creativity was in short supply lastnight with colback being pulled all over the place covering the back four particularly the fullbacks. A blip for sure but a massive learning curve. Back to back wins are a way off and will come with a consistant cohesive lineup.

100 % agree with all of the above. Why should this happen ? AV had a tempestuous Sunday match we had a glorious Saturday and yet we were miles apart. Their pressing muscular game unsettled us in a similar way to the way Leeds had until a player was sent off. Maybe Pants will be on the bench Saturday and we get Steele who perhaps will not simply hoof the ball to a diminutive striker. Bonatini also up front as a change on Sat. Ipswich will by no means be an easy game
Very disappointing display

Lollies powerful run for the goal epitomised what villa had all over the pitch. Strong assured in posession. With the likes of csrvsllaho trying the cheap option of fancy showboating flicks we are never going to keep posession snd build momentum. Both our fullbscks were clueless in posession too. Lolley is an outstsnding player and we need his sort on bith sides of the pitch.

Villa fans after the game were saying we are the worst team they’ve played. Must of forgot the result at their place!

Enjoy watching Lolley while you can, Rutland. He won't be at Forest next season.

Carvalho was given a whole 90 minutes to prove he could do something: he failed. He will not be the club's saviour, and we still lack a Reid-type playmaker in the middle of the park
