Last time we played Ipswich on Dec 1st ( we were I believe) 5th in the table.
The football was entertaining to watch, we were scoring goals from all areas though Grabban was on fire. I believe most on this site was satisfied with what they were seeing. We had up to that point lost only two league game although we had drawn far to many. Then a week later we appoint a director of football and Karanka throws a wobbly, results go to pot and he leaves. A coincidence? Maybe but who can say, but it was all rather strange. Was the DOF micro managing? again hard to say but cannot see MON putting up with it and will certainly see in the close season and when the transfer market opens up again.
MON has to be given the time as he has numerous players to move out in order to play the game his way and this will not be an easy task as he not only has past Karaka players to shift but also Warburtons.
My thoughts are that he will will need at least a full season to get a settled team and then the following season will be the push for promotion.
All this providing we do not find ourselves in a relegation battle then it becomes a different scenario. The big question of course is will the owners be patient enough. let's hope so.

There is no doubt that there was a definite change in Mr Karanka's attitude following this match as his interview that evening, which was there for all too see, made that fairly obvious and although the good ship Forest was sailing along in reasonably calm waters I would have to say that I wasnt finding the football,in particular at home to be entertaining bar the odd few spells here and there.

As to the reasons and exactly what his issues were we will probably never know unless he decides to write a book and even then confidentiality agreements may well still apply but quite frankly it really doesn't matter and it is consigned to history

With regard to the current management team one would hope they conducted their own " due diligence " to see exactly what the terms and conditions they were working to because like you I would like to see a line drawn in the sand re the managerial merry go round and give Messrs O'neill and Keane the time and backing they feel they need providing of course that all four wheels do not fall off for them.

This season is still far from over but IF we start to string a few results together then the question of our readiness for promotion will become a hot topic on here and for the time being I will keep my powder dry on that one

Creepy, a different view about the AK situation is that is does matter. History is a good source of information to advise why we are where we are in many aspects of life. I think we (the forest family) do need to understand what happened because we just keep going around in circles do we not ?

The most entertaining thing this season have been the officials used to have to the circus to see so many clowns , but if we was any good games should be won before the clowns make daft decisions

2star,

I cannot say hand on heart that I am finding it entertaining just different. Styles of play have differed with the past three managers and it has to be said that none of it has matched up to what we would all like to see and it remains to be seen what the new management team will evolve the side into given the time.

The Forest side that Mr O'neill played in achieved success by solid defending and generally scoring on the break and it may be that this will be his preferred option which it has to be said may not appeal to a generation of fans brought up on a diet of televised football by teams costing hundreds of millions of pounds .

With regard to the Mr Karanka situation then I wholeheartedly agree with your comment that as supporters and season tickets we have a right to know what is going on even in the upper echelons of the boardroom but sadly we both know that that will never happen.

You are quite right to pull me up on my saying "it doesn't matter " and I could and should have chosen my words more carefully and phrased it differently insofar as you are quite right to say it does matter but sadly we will never fully know and yes I think that is wrong.

I suspect we are both on the same page but looking at it from different angles as many of your posts have a tendency to be quite insightful.

Hope I have answered your questions but feel free to delve further.

My view as well their creepy , it’s different isn’t it. I get your point too about modern football but my kids have really enjoyed this season - plenty to be Hopeful of. I do agree by the way that it’s history, I just hope we learn a bit from ours and become a little patient and let the manager build a team. I fear we won’t be able to attract good calibre again if history repeats itself. No matter what anyone thinks I think AK is a good manager, as is O Neil, both laboured with this collection of players - which is what it is a collection .

How as mon not made a difference the few players for pittance he has bought in have made the defence look solid apart from keeper he did not bring in our top goal scorer as been injured lol and the bloke as only had a few months to sort Krankies mess out 😝😀

Skegs

I think he has without doubt made a difference by stiffening up the back four and we have looked for the most part more solid at the back. And it has been unfortunate that our main strike threat has been injured for a while but I think the “ mess “ which you refer to,quite rightly, goes further back than Mr Karankas tenure

Your right creepy it goes a long way back but krankie had the money and the chance to turn things around and he never got anywhere near project is what he called us project that's disrespect itself I expect next season we will be a totally better more experienced team under Mon and Keane top 5 you can get back to me if we aint

Your quite right creepy it goes back to a thief called scholar and then Nigel doughty, who bought the club for nothing and promised everything, albeit in loans.
Then fawaz cost his family over 100 million playing Russian roulette and fifa manager.
Marinakis does have a plan,it just worries me about the impatience to get there.

Daft thing is skeggs and creepy, that was a department we should not have struggled in with all the defensive players at our disposal.
Just out of curiosity, can any one name an offensive side from players we have that are fit right now?
Think you might struggle?
