Away games under MON
Preston and Ipswich both draws
Reading, Birmingham, Stoke, Sheffield U, Sheffield Weds - we were well beaten.
Rotherham - very wasteful and could and should have won.
I hope we put the away form right at the weekend as it’s a bit of a chalice TBH.

In hindsight now I think losing away at Stoke, Birmingham and the Sheffields isn’t a disgrace. The way form was at the time i can even see how we dropped points at home to villa and Bristol City. The points within grasp were , Blackburn at home, Rotherham, Ipswich and Preston. Just my opinion but they’re the games where we’ve slipped up a bit , two of which subjected us to more poor refereeing as I recall . Overall I’ve enjoyed the season , I think a couple of smart additions and we’ll be ticking.

I forgot WBA too! Perhaps some frustrating refereeing decisions cost us 6 points away . Chuck in Rotherham away and Blackburn and there are points that on another day perhaps we’d have gathered. A classic case of so near yet so far.

Just watched our highlights yesterday. Carvalho was unplayable!!!
If he gets some consistency we could have a real gem on our hands!!

My original post got lost 2 star but i wanted to say that msybe the difference yesterday was that we did not play a recognised holding midfielder. pele may have sat in the midle of the 5 but playing 3 at the back allowed us to play higher up the pitch with runners in cash and osborn also lolley which gave carvallaho the space to operate in. And to devasting affect i might say, humble pie swallowed. The rigid back 4 with 2 holding may not suit the personnell and swarming forward, shackles off higher up pitch, better tempo maybe that's the formstion going forward. So maybe for once suspensions and injuries forced martins hands in a positive vein. Or maybe this was the end game martin was aiming for and resting carvallaho robinson and milosovic were just part of the observation required going into the summer recess??

I totally agree with that and perhaps colback does his job well but perhaps with the right system it’s a job that doesn’t need doing.

Ed, thanks for combining my posts - great work - much appreciated.

{Ed033's Note - ok thanks.

Between them Pele and Yates played the holding role, and for one so young I thought Yates was exemplary. He even intervened to stop Milosevich getting a yellow card at one point.

Yates maturing nicely, if he keeps developing a future captain.👏

I think Yates needs nurturing and playing Jacob would be my choice, I think sometimes we rush and put to much pressure on the younger players, where they should be watching and learning and play the odd game or comes on as a sub, and in the long term it should benefit the club,

Agree Demis but Yates set the tone, strong challenges and putting his body on the line. A proper crowd pleaser when you haven't got the ball. 👍
