To those old timers , our attendances were really strong this season . Am I right in saying that during the 80’s we struggled to break the 20k mark most weeks ? Why was that ? Were attendances at all footie games lower back then? What kind of attendances did we get late 70’s early 80’s?

If we were as good now as we were then I reckon we’d be getting 50k

Attendances were pretty good in the eighties I thought, especially with cup runs, cant remember us struggling that often to break 20 k 77 to 80 we averaged about 32k,might have dropped to 25 in mid eighties.
When you compare the fans now just remember that we are giving a lot of tickets away to kids and under 25 for next to nothing, there wasnt those incentives about in those days

In the late sentries and early eighties home attendances were pretty low compared to these days, over 22,000 was a good day, 27,000 was packed to the rafters!

Well remember the days when we had been in Division 2 for a while and crowds had shrunk somewhat.
We could come out of the Outlaws Bar on Trent Bridge ( now The Southbank ) at 2.45 and amble or on occasions stagger a little down to the East Stand Car Park terraces in plenty of time.
When we went up 77/78 crowds got slowly bigger and put the tin hat on that one.

Remenber 45k plus against Liverpool on Boxing day in a one all draw as being particularly " snug "

Remember that boxing day one creepy fans were around the track side as well official attendance was 47,218 but I reckon there was more like 50k
Inside.
We averaged 32,500 that season and 30,500 the following season,it was expensive to go to all the cup matches and finals as well as a season ticket and I knew some fans that simply could not afford to go to every game with young families they had,so a lot of fans picked their games.
