I think we should be targeting these players
1 rb . Byram offer 1m. Plus add ons after he's played set amount of games and proves his fitness
2 holding midfielder. Colback 1m lower his wages but over 3 year deal.
3 lb Bidwell free
4 gk Westwood free
5 creative midfielder?
6. Speedy Winger to compliment Lolley
7 forward to challenge grabbon
Some of these could be loans.
But we need to shift at least 15 off retained list.

So you basically want nearly a whole new team. 😠😠😠😠.

We need to bring in 3 or 4 at the most that are a lot better than we already have, should we be doing well enough come January then another 2 or 3 if sufficient funds are available.

Changing most of the team in one go usually fails.

Red always is right though LC the position's he's identified are the ones that need strengthening and he's correct in saying at least 15 need to go,too many defenders and too many midfielders at the moment and not enough quality.

Fff79, I do not disagree that there are a lot of players to get rid of but how many are likely to be gone by windows end, and it could be argued who is responsible for that situation.

I have to say that it does not matter what the situation is as how many players positions need strengthening because if the club has enough money it could be argued every position needs to be strengthened as well as the other squad players.

I feel however that we as fans need to be a bit more thoughtful about how many players get brought in, we do not know how much the club is willing to spend, and we do not need to know.

I suppose everyone is different but i would prefer to spend all of the money available on a small amount of players to hopefully increase the quality by a large amount instead of bringing in a load of players and only improving the quality by a small amount.

I doubt very much that the club can afford to bring in as many as Red always wants and increase the quality by a large amount. Like i said before, bringing large amounts of players in one go usually fails.

Assuming the club has not got the funds on a large scale which route would you prefer the club take, Quality or Quantity.

Thing is the list of players that need to go is obvious.
Steele
Smith
Hefele
Dawson
Watson
Geddy
Arybi
Murphy
Cummings
Grant
Soudani
Ansarfarad
Vellios
Bridcutt
None of these are good enough to take us forward,7 good players to replace them would make a difference.

LC Red is only suggesting 3 or 4 new ones.
We already had Colback + Byram in the squad and the other positions need upgrading to balance the squad!

RIE, Without Byram and Colback i saw 5 players.

I know two are free, but both Colback and Byram will want good wages, what happens if Byram has a normal season for him and hardly plays.

I see what you mean about Colback and Byram already knowing the team but they would still have 5 new players to get use to, and the manager will have to experiment to find his best team so the players have that to contend with.

Ff, I take it from your post you either think the club will spend big, or prefer Quantity over Quality.

LC the club can't spend big,we've just wasted money trying to get to the prem by bringing quantity,we must be losing millions and 39 million losses over three seasons is looking like happening if were not careful

Ff, So you want 7 players coming in, and to improve the quality, but you say we will not, or can not spend big, you hate loan players, that then means a lot of free players.

Oh do you think we will get rid of a lot of unwanted players saving a lot of money.

You have to offload at least the players I've mentioned before signing players,
They were bad signings that are costing us millions,if we can't offload them then there won't be any major signings.
Loans cost just as much in wages and the ones we had were crap, barring colback, but even he is no world beater and if Newcastle want him off the books it's a free or nothing, there won't be a queue for him at that price and wages.
D9nt even try telling me how good Byram is,if he can't stay fit then he is of no use.
Seen enough of sicknotes being signed and can't stay fit.
Vaughan and traore come to mind.

Fff79. Smith is a good shot stopper and got plenty of time to improve on his weakness.
Arybi is getting better.
Soudani could set the Championship alight, not known for being injured much.
I'm not sure but Dawson could see out his contract, he did not miss many games for Hull.

Ff, I like yourself think Byram needs to prove his fitness before joining Forest, he is is however very talented when he is gets off the treatment table.

How on earth are Smith and Grant costing Forest millions.

Guedioura, Watson, Hefele, and Murphy are all past their best.

Gboly seems to be getting his head sorted, and could be a superb squad player.

Your in dreamland if you think soudani can set the championship alight,Smith and grant couldn't get in mansfields side and arybi has failed in the lower divisions with MK Don's and Northampton and had to go and play Mickey mouse league now.
Get rid of em along with the old timers.

Ff, You have made a fair point there about Gboly.

I was not suggesting Smith is definitely ready yet, but i think if he is treated right he will be a good goalkeeper.

You mentioned getting rid of the old timers, does that include Grabban.

I would sell grabban for 5 mill, don't know if it's just me but he seems very moody at times.
I'd go for Gayle,a couple of years younger and very prolific.
Don't like his diving at times, but he'd be a great signing for us
