Kenny Burns was a great player but his very negative comments in the Post before the season has even started are annoying. At least let's give the new players time to show what they're made of before writing them off.

I wouldn't class Kenny Burns as a great player, he was an average player who Clough made an above average player.

I agree about KB also that GB is another one the local paper should bin. Headline grabbing rubbish from 2 very ordinary players who shared success under BC. They are both getting paid for this and the local paper expect interest and sales. They can have an opinion but please turn them off and I might read it more. Believe it or not I'm at my most optimistic for a couple of seasons now.

I agree they are not great columnists, however they were great players for our club, Burns was as hard as nails with very little getting past him, Birtles helped dump pool out of Europe, scored 2 goals in our League Cup Final with over Southampton, he was also lightning quick and his goals return was better than ordinary.

KB was possibly the best signing BC made. He and Lloyd were the rock of that defence. Of course Shilton performed miracles behind them but no front men fancied 90 minutes against KB and LL.

Every local paper in the country has an ex-player peddling second rate sports punditry, but I think Kenny Burns was Football Writers' or PFA player of the year in the championship season, wasn't he? Either way, that puts you in some pretty impressive company.

Forgot about that! Some called him "average" 🤔🤔🤔.

Our double European cup winning club heroes that gave us our identity are now "average"? Sign of the times.
