It's been a while but I'm out of hibernation.
New username (you know the drill)
Can anyone remember the 1978 world cup in Argentina? The passion and the colourful support of the fans I was amazed by it.
I have always dreamt of such an atmosphere at the City Ground but I never expect it to happen.
Well it did and wasn't it awesome.
No matter what happens at the end of this season they can't take that away.
And I'll never forget it.

Yes I do mate it was my first World Cup where I could understand what was going on, I supported Scotland as I had heard of dalgliesh, gem mill etc, I remember them doing Holland but also the shock of them losing to Peru, the big thing at the time for me as a child was the excitement of collecting panini stickers and trying to fill an album, all the kids on our street were doing it, great times growing up in Eastwood.

I was just starting to understand football too, and the World Cup was like a wonderful awakening. however I heard that Scottish World Cup song so many times, I honestly thought they only had go over and pick the bloody thing up and come home again!
82 World Cup was amazing too. my first "Awakening" to the fairer sex. my first girlfriend, over 40 years later, and I still think of her from time to time, she was a combination of Steffi Graff, and Jennifer Anniston. (You get the picture) couldn't believe my luck.
Wonderful times, wish I could just go back there for one day. ?.

It’s good to reminisce! I love thinking about the old days. It was only last week I posted about how our badge brings emotional feelings to me when I look at it. Great days all those years ago. Used to live for football. School got in the way, but even there you could play 3 times a day! Never had much money as a family, my mum and step dad both worked in a factory ( now Hooters ?) but I had a really happy childhood and felt very lucky. My grandad brought me the yellow away top for my tenth birthday, and it was, and still is, the greatest gift I’ve ever received! I would just look at it on wonder! Sorry for the ramble! All I can say is, no matter what, the PL, Mr M, VAR or anyone else can take that away from me, and all others who feel the same! You can’t buy these feelings!

Enjoyed the replies fellow Reds. Some special memories relived.
I’ve so many myself but the City Ground atmosphere over the previous few seasons really was magic.
Hope we can get it back ?
Starting today.
You Reds.
