This is not a knee jerk reaction for sometime now I have been watching assombalonga his fitness pace and contribution to the team to be brutally honest in my opinion it's amateur I genuinely feel sorry for him I was I huge fan before the knee injury but I just don't think he is the player he was last nights effort was the nail in the coffin for me he didn't play well against Brighton when Brazil changed things last night there was a different feeling going forward we must start with McCormack clough and Brereton on Saturday alas I don't think we will thoughts anyone

This season for me, as far as Britt is concerned was all about phasing him back into first team football, and his legs building the required mussels in which to sustain being able to play regularly.

I feel Britt was only going to come good next season, you have to also consider what others have mentioned that the way Brazil has set up the team does not suit Britt.

If over the course of the next few months Britt does not get rid of his excess weight he has to be fined. Because he recently signed a new contract we should at least get our money back should he want to leave. If he does then hopefully a massive sell on clause should be put in place, if any club really wants him they will accept that.

{Ed001's Note - it normally takes at least 3 years of regular football to recover fully from the kind of injury Britt had. It is not just rebuilding muscle, it is rebuilding neural pathways as the mind changes the way your body moves to compensate for the injury. It then needs to be retrained to move how it should do naturally.}

Ed001

Thank you for that insight, that clearly is something most fans do not know which in turn makes us post some rash posts.

It would be great if the ed's were to put more input like that in order to enlighten the less knowledgeable fans like myself.

{Ed001's Note - if you do want further reading on it, this is one of the less difficult to follow reports on the study: ACL injury requires brain retraining

I've been lucky enough to have had the same injury as Britt (or not) and if my experience is anything to go by, the strength in his knee will never be the same and he will always have reoccurring "niggles". I fear that we've already seen the best of him through no fault of his own.

Ed I don't want to hear things like that, I'm having the op next month-I'm also a fine tuned professional with regular training and I need to ensure I can walk to the pub in 5 mins within 3 months of the op Date 😂.

{Ed001's Note - let's hope you are made of sterner mental stuff than the average guy then 2tone.....}

I'll get to the pub even if I have to crawl to it lol - back onto Britts injury - you sound like you know a fair bit about the injury, I've never worked out why Britt came back for the last game of last season at mk dons? After such a long time out surely it would have been better to have another 4 months training? Was it to benefit Britt mentally more than physically?

{Ed001's Note - yes, they need to be back as soon as possible.}

Thanks ed 001 My daughter who is a physio specializing in sport s injuries and rehabilitation fully concurs with your thoughts on Britts injury. The period of time obviously varies wildly and some players are never what they were in terms of pace and athleticism but can learn to compensate in other ways. She says Brits comparatively young age is in his favour but, as you rightly say, time will tell.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. Fingers crossed for the lad to recover fully.}

Talking of injuries, I remember rupturing my Achilles Tendon, playing 5 aside a few years ago, it went off with a "Thwack! " Fell in installments! (Me being a flying machine 🎭🎭🎭) I reckon if it wasn't for the inept medical attention I received at the time (some cotton wool in a biscuit tin!? ) I'd be plying my trade in The Prem now! 😋😋😋.

Hi Ed, don't think Britt suffered an ACL rupture but broken knee cap. Whilst still serious it's totally different from recovering from an ACL injury. I ruptured both ACL's in my late teens without them being diagnosed. Your body does adjust as I'm still playing footy at 61, albeit 'walking' football.

{Ed001's Note - it is not totally different, it still has the main issues mentally with changing the way you move the limbs to avoid injuries.}
