I read a BBC article about how much teams have been paid by the Premier League at the end of this season. In particular the clubs who have been relegated this season and in previous seasons who are still receiving parachute payments. It makes you realise how hard it is to get out of the Championship, but if you do the rewards are massive, even if you come straight back down. Sunderland recieved 94m for finishing bottom of the Premiership. Our entire club has just been bought for nearly half that sum of money.

More than Fester got for winning it last year. Mental!

Gazzared I have also seen details of these payments and I despair when I think we have an owner with spending power but FFP effectively stopping us doing much spending.
Its just not a level playing field and other teams in the championship in the same boat as us must think it nigh impossible to get into the Premier League when teams with parachute payments can have the pick of players because they can also afford to pay inflated wages.
I have not yet renewed my season ticket of long standing and will leave it to the last day before deciding.
I have supported Forest since 1950 but have never known such bias against so many teams in our league.

I really cannot get my head round this ffp business at all. Last year Mr Machin at the sheep converted 27 million to " equity " whatever that is to avoid them being penalised, he's said he's GOT to do the same again this year but hasn't mentioned how much this time.
This is in Derby paper so it would appears he's not doing it behind closed doors as it where.
Perhaps its just paper talk but they do pay mental wages by all accounts.

Gents,

I wouldn't be surprised if our new chairman knows the rules better than anyone which at least means we can be assured we can spend the maximum that keeps us compliant but of course this depends on if he sees fit too. I doubt very much whether FAH really had a clue about the rules and without understanding them it's not possible to find loopholes - every set of rules has them.

Secondly though and more importantly we can't allow ourselves to expect money to be spent that outstrips our income. Like it or not the parachute payment is an income albeit it is to support clubs who have a premier wage bill. IF you've been in it you will have the wage bill it can't be avoided.

Thirdly the quick win for the club is us fans buying a season ticket, it's the only thing we can influence so raja what we should do. I plead with all of our fans to do so and not get disenchanted if the owner does not start slinging around daft sums of cash in the summer. I have a fear that many fans are expecting this and will judge the owner on what's spent this summer - I hope I'm wrong.

2 star I think this season has been a reality check for the fans who think we are a big club and have a right to be in the prem. I think nearly all of us would accept a few decent additions where needed and some progress on and off the pitch. Sounds like we may have to sell to balance the books but I think we have about 9 or 10 who could move on but it hinges on if we can let them go free or get a fee for them. If contracts have to be paid up to move them on it hurts us financialy again.

You don't have to balance the books if you have the money. the Greek could do what mel has done and give the club money with no strings attached (loans and wanting it back) few owners want to do that as it could end up money down the drain.

You don't after spend big if you have the right team in place from top to bottom and were already doing that so i'm a happy chappy after the last 5 years or even 10 so come on let's look forward to next season.
