Is it my imagination or does Mark Warburton seem reluctant to praise Vellios for his pre season goal scoring exploits.
Paul Taylor from the Nottingham Post has asked for Warburton about Vellios following each of the 3 pre season friendliest. On every occasion Mark has changed the question and talked in general about his attacking options.

Add to this the fact that despite scoring 5 goals in 3 games, Vellios has never yet been in the starting line up. All 5 goals have been scored after Vellios had come off the bench.

It was rumoured earlier in the summer that Vellios was going back to play in Greece. Vellios made his breakthrough in the Premier League at Everton. He is a very good player, he has taken time to settle at our club. I do hope he is staying at Forest. He certainly has the ability to score 20 plus goals this season.
Our attacking options all of a sudden look very healthy.

Couldn't agree more, I said a couple of weeks ago that he could score 20+ goals if he's given a good run in the team. That said I think he'll still spend much of the season on the bench.

Agreed! Although think Cummings and Taylor may fight for starting place with Vellios as sub every game and BB on the wing.

Vellios deserves the chance, he's surprised me in pre season and he IS good enough.

Wisheyedove, you are spot on about Vellios, all last season i was moaning that MW never hardly played him in my opinion he is an excellent goal poacher and half chance taker, but maybe MW sees him as an impact sub, would love to see him start against Burnley 😎.

I agree with the above. Vellios is doing well. I do not think Warburton likes Vellios, and prefers Cummings, who he cannot stop talking about.

I'm still not sure about Vellios guys. he's only came up against lowly opposition, don't get me wrong, I really hope he proves me totally wrong and smashes 'em in for the Mighty Reds!

P. S. My above point is on the basis that BB gets stuck out wide and Vellios hasn't started a game, so could well be used as impact sub.

It's not what I think is best, but what I think bread man thinks and has been proven in past few friendlies.

Based on last seasons showing Vellios is the best goal scorer at the club and he should be the man in possession of the Number 9 shirt until one of these Jonny cum Lately's earn the shirt?
