Forest in for Jonnny Williams from Palace. Busy & inventive little midfielder. Good signing IMO. Ran rings round us for Ipswich last season.

Cjay

1.) 19 Jul 2015 20:44:56
Agreed but need to free up some space first otherwise we are sacrificing a spot for GK, left back, DMF

2.) 20 Jul 2015 12:03:01
Don't need a dmf, have got Vaughan and mancienne. Really need a proven striker, left back and goal keeper.

3.) 20 Jul 2015 14:24:23
Vaughn & Mancienne aren't viable DMs though. If you go down that route your just replicating the losing formula from last season.

4.) 20 Jul 2015 15:41:44
Well said Cjay. DFM is a priority position. Vaughan and mancienne are not good enough and the reason we ended up playing so deep last season which ultimately ended up isolating the centre forward

5.) 20 Jul 2015 18:07:43
If Tesche stays we won't be bringing in a DFM. We will probably sign a versatile player who can cover LB and a striker. If we can't move people on then that will be your lot I'm afraid.

Rangers looking at Freedman as next manager: Source: Scottish red top

Cjay

1.) 25 Feb 2015 13:37:52
Rangers cannot be "looking" for anyone as there are at least 3 groups of directors fighting for control of the club.

Mike Ashley will finally decide on who he wants at the end of the season once the others fail to match their bluster with cash and he gains complete control

2.) 25 Feb 2015 13:54:44
Billy Davies was also heavily linked with this job. Anyone who thinks things are bad at Forest in terms of how the club is run would think we are a model of stability and order in comparison. No manager with any pedigree will consider this job unless or until some stability is brought to the club. And no-one sees that happening in the short to medium term at least.

3.) 25 Feb 2015 14:35:23
Sign Dougie on a long term contract failing that Mark Warburton will be looking for work.

4.) 25 Feb 2015 16:53:40
dougie as already made that mistake with hjs move from palace to bolton i can't see him making it again.

5.) 25 Feb 2015 18:16:56
Sloppy reporting.
He's not even in betting.
This is made up rumour and never going to happen.

Just woke up from the game, having sky plussed it and quickly deleted it I thought we were hard to watch.

Why take your 3 best players out the picture and expect to compete in the final third. Then finally play Williams with Tesche and Blackstock as the spine. Blatantly setting up for the draw against another bang average outfit there for the taking.

Oliveira has to play for us to have anything up front and he is most effective with Williams. Dougie said he isn't paid to entertain and he is being very true to that.

We are a better side than this. Hope this new coach has some attacking instinct so he and Freedman can bang heads to come up with something more balanced, particularly away from home.

Nice point, but there was three if we had the balls to go for them.

Uninspiring.

Cjay

1.) 15 Dec 2015 16:19:01
What new coach is that then?

2.) 15 Dec 2015 18:31:36
Any inside info on this 'new coach' anyone? The oracle, Alan Nixon, claims he'll be in for the MK game?

3.) 15 Dec 2015 19:33:10
Hard to watch indeed Cjay. Ian Holloway must have slept well on the battle bus friday and monday night after enduring over 180 minutes of that dross. Hardly a good advert for the 10 in 10. Rest assured the powers that be will think twice about screening any more of our away games for the rest of the season lol. On the face of it 2 decent away points but blimey!
With corner kicks looking our only route to goal you would think we would play to our strengths and try to win more corners. 5 against wolves and 1 against Blackburn whilst conceding 15 over the 2 games suggests we are not.

4.) 15 Dec 2015 19:52:58
Mendes has a groin problem. Oliviera has run his legs off twice and needed a rest for Saturday. Tesche needed to be played to see how he would cope and give us extra leverage in midfield. Some people are expecting too much from the players we do have. For me this season is about finishing mid-table and getting out of FP and welcoming back Cohen, Fryatt and Assambolonga, getting them fit and playing regularly. If DF does that he has done his job, plus with Eric, Mancienne, Hobbs/Mills Pinillos we have found a secure back four. We need to build a squad confidence and it seems we are developing it with the team playing for each other. I don't see any of this as negative, and it's a great improvement on what we have had before.

5.) 15 Dec 2015 20:19:41
Bsered

You mention Cohen, Fryatt, and Britt getting to play regular yet say Oliviera is in need of a rest.

With Df no forward really plays regularly, systems keep changing, and rarely plays to win a game.

I never expected us to go up, but it is hard enough to win games as it is, but when the manager sets the team up not to win makes it so much harder.

What chance has Britt of scoring in a team that does not want to win, just not to lose?

6.) 15 Dec 2015 20:43:15
DF now has a team that does not want to win!
I give up!

7.) 15 Dec 2015 20:59:29
Keeno

There is a difference between trying to win, and relying on the opposition to make a mistake.

When you set up to rely on the opposition making a mistake that is not wanting to win.

8.) 15 Dec 2015 23:05:21
I'm not even going to try and debate with u over something so ridiculous as a team going onto a pitch apparently not wanting to win. It's ridiculous.

9.) 15 Dec 2015 23:24:45
Tomorrow, there are different ways to win a game.
We don't have the quality going forward to try and out score some teams in this league.

10.) 16 Dec 2015 10:01:16
Perks1

Yes you are right, there are different ways to win games.

In my opinion, all be it i may be wrong, you are weakening your forwards effectiveness getting them running vast distances with little or no support.

Most forwards i feel would welcome having a choice of players either passing to them, or them to pass to. That way they have less running to do during a game and will be more composed when in front of the goal.

Should they hit the post, or it comes off a player they have team mates to pose an extra threat to the opposition, rather than them being too shattered to chase the loose ball after already having covered a huge distance to take the shot in the first place.

Freedman went from too defensive to totally clueless last night.

We had 2 weeks to prepare for the inevitable 352 and came up with a 433 with Fox at RB Burke at CM and Oliveira out wide.

Jumped in the in the first ten minutes and outclassed for the last eighty.

Too many tactical cock ups. Embarassing

Phone Nigel Clough or go cap in hand to SOD.

Cjay

1.) 17 Oct 2015 22:29:14
Clough and SOD?! That's the problem, sentiment gets you nowhere! It's Pearson or nobody for me!ask any Leics fan and they will say their now famous " never say die " attitude instilled in them is down to him! They did it again today, i want a bit of that not that crap last night!

2.) 18 Oct 2015 07:53:51
Sod was out his depth and players have said he isn't a manager so why would you want him as a manager?

03 Oct 2015 21:09:57
Went today & came back with the realisation a mixture of two things is going to consign us to mid to lower table obscurity this season.

The players gave absolutely everything today, but we needed to keep hold of the ball for much longer run a very big Hull side ragged, but we just can't keep the ball long enough to dictate the pace.
Secondly Freedman is too reluctant to open the game up with a Williams type player.. Only three men in front of the ball when attacking shows next to no adventure going forward.

Ebecillio for Mancienne just about sums up Freedmans ability to throw caution to the wind.

Enjoyed the effort though, the players put in a massive shift.

We just ain't good enough from top to bottom for the likes of Hull.

Cjay

1.) 03 Oct 2015 21:48:13
Can't understand the reluctance to use Williams and where was Osborn? Seems to me we still miss Gardner.

25 Sep 2015 21:26:58
To be fair to Freedman he's recruited well under tight restrictions & his financial ethos looks sound. Don't think he will get full backing until he rolls out something that consistently troubles teams final third.

The more upbeat response to an entertaining attacking home loss over a turgid defensive away point speaks volumes.

Cjay

1.) 26 Sep 2015 11:15:28
But wouldn't you agree Cjay that the difference between the two games was how DF used the midfield? I'm beginning to think we have the right players but workmanlike DF goes for a defensive game away from home and a more attacking format at home.

If this is the case then it's tactically wrong, but he may be wanting to ensure we get a point instead of losing three. Just a thought. I like the midfield personnel you've suggested, just think that playing Williams might be a key decision.

2.) 26 Sep 2015 16:07:47
Give the guy some time to bed in the new players and then watch us play a more expansive game away from home where the expectation is on the home team.

This is one season unless we have another run of horrific injuries and our stars do not return then we will get better as the season goes on.

Top 10 by Christmas and then push on!

25 Sep 2015 07:40:34
Youd have taken the point before the game, but after watching it you have to say we gave 2 points away.

Freedman reverting to type with the defensive overload always gave a poor Huddersfield side a shout.

Middlesborough & QPR served to prove the side we have should be set up to go on the front foot & an extra defender at DM takes away a dimension going forward in my opinion.
Players like Mendes & Lansbury need license to get forward & play.

We ain't going up or down this season so why not give it a go. The game we took to Boro would have beat them last night. Sometimes Freedman tries to overthink it.

Cjay

1.) 25 Sep 2015 18:18:19
Totally agree. Negative and thinks he's a tactical genius.

Evtimov looked a bit ropey last night, flip side is that Smith looks top drawer.

Smith gets the shirt, with Henderson backing up.

Do we need any more keepers.

Can't we send him somewhere else?

£15 mill for a player whos knee could blow tomorrow was still excellent business.

We've got some decent quality up front so a like for like won't be necessary, particularly when save ourselves 15 goals by reinforcing the base of midfield.

If it happened under any of the previous managers I'd write our chances of before the season started with the sale of Brereton.

Thing is we now have a manager with a proven track record of putting teams together on a minimal budget, playing decent football and getting results.

Breretons sale will likely cause the usual outrage, but assuming we get top price, i'd still have faith in Warburton making us competitive and knocking on the door.

Until we reach the top table, we're a selling club like everyone else.

Pinillos & Jokic were both decent stay at home left backs.

Fox is a decent LB who doubles up as potentially our best CB & Traore is a decent attacking LB who can Play CB in a 3.

Then consider Pinillos is a crock, so i'd rather keep Traore & Fox, assuming that was the question.

Never quite got the criticism of Smith. Seemed to me everyone jumped on that bandwagon when MW started looking for a keeper.

Ultimately Smiths shot stooping ability far outweighs his inability to kick straight. His distribution is improving, he made another top save Saturday. All's good between the sticks I reckon.

Lets get behind the lad.

Although we hopefully end up with a McDonald type to partner Bouch, I can see the merits of Mancienne in front given Vaughn plays the role like an extra CB.

Extra physicality helps and height useful for them high balls we're susceptible to.
