Lichaj has gone for an undisclosed fee - likely to be around 400k. A bad move in my mind unless AK has a much better option waiting in the wings. All the best Eric, top professional.

GazzaRed

1.) 22 Jun 2018 11:49:41
Agreed Gazza. He was dedicated and hard working.

2.) 22 Jun 2018 14:17:07
It makes a change from the Scottish players we were and planning to sign this time last year

3.) 22 Jun 2018 22:27:28
I liked Eric gave it everything and the arsenal game will live long in the memory, but as someone has already said on 1 of these boards he had a bad habit of standing too far off his winger and backing off far too much

17 Jun 2018 11:45:59
Just seen Merc with plate D7 INGS in town

GazzaRed

1.) 17 Jun 2018 11:58:42
Is the 7 for the years he was not playing????????????

2.) 17 Jun 2018 12:19:36
Danny Ings isn’t on holiday at the moment. So doubt it was him.

3.) 17 Jun 2018 12:32:17
Just seen a Ferrari with M355I in town!!! 😱😱😱

4.) 17 Jun 2018 13:10:16
Is on holiday*

5.) 17 Jun 2018 13:40:26
Beats the Skoda I was just following ;)

6.) 17 Jun 2018 14:08:12
I’ve just seen one with FF7 9??😂😂

7.) 17 Jun 2018 14:14:35
Rogie, no better way to away the Messi he created than to go to the home of the black stuff for a crack.

8.) 17 Jun 2018 14:15:19
That's mine you should see the state of it inside

9.) 17 Jun 2018 14:19:09
You don't live in Nottingham anyway!.😏

10.) 17 Jun 2018 15:19:19
Thats his plate without the s. He lives near me in lancs

11.) 17 Jun 2018 15:51:37
Prob one one the dingles from emerdale.

12.) 17 Jun 2018 18:49:44
He's going back to burnley on loan for next season

10 Jun 2018 11:03:50
Newcastle are interested in Osborn. Offers in the region of 5m likely to be accepted. For me he's not worth that so would snap their hand off if an offer came in. It would make sense for him to go and join up with old academy team mates Lascelles and Darlow. Maybe we could look at a deal for Darlow to come the other way.

GazzaRed

1.) 10 Jun 2018 12:22:29
Versatile left footer £5m? Too cheap in todays market. I would accept offers over £10m or a straight swap for Mitrovic.👍

2.) 10 Jun 2018 13:19:48
£5mil for osborn would be close to the full fee wed have to pay for marriott. i look at it and think would you swap osborn for marriott as the transfer fees and wages would be similar. surely there's no doubt youd rather have marriott out of the 2.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 13:35:24
A player like Benny would be difficult to replace for that money it seems our fans underestimate our home grown players to me

4.) 10 Jun 2018 13:38:05
Would not be happy if we sold Osborn for 5m can play anywhere in midfield and fill in at lb, still only 23 and been our most consistent best performer for the last 3 seasons. 10m+ at least for me or less with a player involved too such as darlow, Colback or Mitrovic

5.) 10 Jun 2018 14:36:07
A lot of players could play in various positions and do a decent job, it doesn't mean they're value doubles. Like I've said before, he's jack of all trades, master of none, we need a team of masters.

6.) 10 Jun 2018 15:15:07
Unless we had an offer we can't refuse, he's to good to release. The main factor being, his heart is with Forest. You can't buy that.

7.) 10 Jun 2018 15:36:05
Gaza don’t think anyone said his value should double, greatest team we ever had had a jack of all trades, his goal in cologne got us to our 1st ever European cup final, clough always said Ian bowyer was 1 of his most important squad members not because of his outstanding ability,he was less technically gifted than most in the team but because he had great attitude and fight ibelieve Ben is in a similar mold

8.) 10 Jun 2018 16:42:27
If we sell Osborn AK is not the manager we need. Too many on here are quick to criticise Benny but to me he is one of the best players we have got, and I'd be very loath to lose him.

9.) 10 Jun 2018 16:51:37
Osborn doesn't know how to play a forward pass, he can't take the ball past a man, he's physically weak. I could have a the best pass percentage at Forest if 99% of my passes were sideways or backwards. Massively over rated but shows how bad the team has been for him to be considered our player of the season. Good news is, AK sees this too, that's why he's looking to buy a new team.

10.) 10 Jun 2018 20:43:36
Gazza, I wouldn’t sell him on the cheap but you Are so right to highlight how bad the team has been if Ben has been our best player for 3 seasons. Solid performer with a good attitude no doubt.

Regarding us underestimating our ‘homegrown talent’ I only base my opinion on what I see at the home games and apart from cash no one has convinced me they are what many have said they are.

our league position is testament to the fact we tried to play four : five of smith, clough, Worrall, Cash, McKay, Cummings, Walker and Brereton in the same team. Never going to work. I don’t include Osborn now, he’s a senior player by right.

I acknowledge that some fellow reds are irritated by those who are willing to watch the youngsters toil and under achieve. To be honest I get irritated when it’s expected of us to watch players, who aren’t ready and who get out thought and outplayed. It’s not value for money I’m afraid and thankfully we won’t be expected to watch so many of them next season, I’m not knocking their efforts but we need to be winning more games

11.) 10 Jun 2018 20:54:25
Osborn might be a lot of things??
But physically weak ??
That's not one of em.he could play two games back to back.
Not sure what you've been watching??

12.) 10 Jun 2018 20:57:41
Get raffa and keep Osborn
Success guaranteed

13.) 10 Jun 2018 20:58:11
Imo Osborn at the right price. Sell. Puts in the graft but when midfield simply not enough goals or physical presence.Thats why Watson & co came in.As LB just too small as Cardiff showed.
Versatile, but since his Ipswich debut his progression has stalled.

14.) 10 Jun 2018 21:50:43
2star I actually agree with you I think Brereton will be a top player, but as you say he's not ready to do the job he’s being asked to do,same goes for worrall, cash had a couple of good games later in the season, bu has been in and out before that, as regards Cummings and McKay simply not good enough, I go home and most away and am too tired of watching boys trying to do men’s jobs, not their fault though, thought your post was in general spot on mate,

15.) 10 Jun 2018 22:31:54
Stevie , defo mate , we are on the same page. Too much to soon but defo something worthy of nurture

03 Jun 2018 17:53:24
13m agreed for Benfica midfielder Joao Carvalho. Team mate Congalves to follow on loan with a 20m option to buy. Scary figures but shows clear ambition.

1.) 03 Jun 2018 18:00:17
Crazy money to be spending on one player, don’t know much about him tbh.If it’s true looks like we are taking a gamble on spending big in the hopes of getting promoted.Hope it works🤞🤞

2.) 03 Jun 2018 18:23:25
Just noticed john terry has signed for the sheep villa must be gutted because he said he wanted out of the championship he was on 60000 grand a week he is 37 hope frank knows what he is doing of course we all hope it ends in tears again !!!😭

3.) 03 Jun 2018 18:49:51
More and more teams will take the risk of spending big to get to the PL, big money and many will fall short and be punished under the FFP rules.
Wolves gambled and won but Villa and Direby will suffer to the extent where the S*n is stating Villa will have to reduce annual wages by £70 million???? Championship??
Hope we get this right if we hope to spend big and throw caution to the wind.
We need to get behind them and sing loud and proud. Here's to a good season. I hope🤔

4.) 03 Jun 2018 19:37:05
It's obvious Maranakis has fallen out of love with Olympiacos, well a little bit anyway. Having watched Wolves buy the league he might be tempted and may even use the same agent as Wolves did. I'm a bit wary, not so much for now but 2 years down the line, if it doesn't work. Will he stick around to clear up his own mess, which could be worse than the state Fawaz left us in? Life is all about risk and reward, yes the PL is a pot of gold but it could be fool's gold if we gamble and lose. All rumours but this £50m spend story seems to be gathering momentum. Fingers crossed and FTID.

5.) 03 Jun 2018 21:12:03
i heard the rumours about the portuguese players the other day and thought it was all rubbish. i'm excited for this they're both very good, all reports say that they're about done

6.) 03 Jun 2018 21:27:29
13m for João. Last time I checked his value was 2.5m.

7.) 03 Jun 2018 22:17:33
It shouldn't be even 2.5 mill he's played his football in benfica B side ,it's like playing league two or conference football.
If it's 13 mill Karanka needs his head looking at as do the owners.
Recepie for disaster.

30 May 2018 14:18:02
Dawson to be announced in the next 24 hours, Dean Marney to be announced shortly after, more in the pipeline, including Tomlin, Pantillimon and Colback if he can be persuaded to drop his wages for regular first team football. AK must be confident through discussions with the players and owners that many will be leaving this summer. My suspicion would be that we will have to pay off many of the deadwood as let's be honest, it's only lower Championship or league one teams that will want them and they won't be able to offer no where near the wages they're on at Forest. That money has to come from somewhere though so will eat in to the transfer budget. Don't expect no extravagant signings this summer fellow reds, loans and freebies will be the theme in the most part I believe.

GazzaRed

1.) 30 May 2018 15:17:31
Dean Marney, really, i know it's good to have experience and we'll have that in Dawson but i hope we don't just become a cash pot for journeymen has beens.

2.) 30 May 2018 15:17:44
GazzaRed I'm in agreement with most of what you say. But I don't think Colback will drop in wage. I really have grave reservations regarding Marney! I also think Karnka may have a couple of surprise signings up his sleeve.

3.) 30 May 2018 18:30:04
Yeah the surprise being AK is coming out of retirement to lower the average age of the team ;)

4.) 30 May 2018 19:18:33
I'm happy with the Dawson deal as I think he brings experience, leadership qualities and an Ariel presence. Not sure about Marney and for me Colback offered nothing that Bridcutt couldn't do for a fraction of the cost. Think the money could be better spent elsewhere.

5.) 30 May 2018 19:24:41
Daz,very clever!!!

6.) 31 May 2018 07:48:59
As long as we end up playing like Ajax

Just seen Mr and Mrs Lichaj - no deal done yet but should be ironed out soon. Will still be living in Annesley.

GazzaRed

1.) 20 Jun 2018 17:11:15
If we're getting better than Eric fair do,s but just can,t see it ,not for £250 ,ooo ,hope we're not cutting our nose off to spite our face .
CARLO,

2.) 20 Jun 2018 18:14:34
There can be no doubt that Lichaj has been a fully committed and loyal player to this club for the past 5 years and has fully deserved all of our support and plaudits that have come his way.

Unfortunately he has been at the heart of and on many occasions marshalled a defence that has seen us sliiping down the table and flirting with relegation.
I accept and understand that he is not the only defender on the pitch but we have been defensively atrocious at times and steps are being taken to rectify this ie with Figuerido and now Dawson and it is, to my mind,an inescapable conclusion that he is not good enough but in the same breath I am far from convinced that Darikwa is much of an improvement.

Hopefully we will see some quality signings in this and other positions which must surely come in the wake of the Portugese signings.

In closing I wish to add that the awful comments being aimed at his wife are completely and utterley unaccepatable and those responsible sully the name of this club.

Roll on 9am tomorrow.

As always . .

3.) 20 Jun 2018 18:36:06
Good post as usual creepy.

4.) 20 Jun 2018 19:04:18
It will get sorted after 30th June when Max Clarks contract expires and he agrees terms with Forest. Forest are not going to agree a fee to sell Eric without agreeing the compo payment for Clark which at tribunal will be around £400k not a £1m.
Both deals will get done for undisclosed fees for the same amount which represents a great piece of business for Forest upgrading for a younger left sided player on probably lower wages?

5.) 20 Jun 2018 20:13:52
Creepy1. Do you prepare notes before sending a post? I have noticed that every time that you do post it is well structured and informative. You state facts and also offer your opinion without being unnecessarily controversial or offensive in any way.Good on you and long may it continue.

6.) 20 Jun 2018 22:23:29
Not really sgetty I just try to put down my thoughts and opinions on here as I see them.
Part of the reason my posts go on a bit sometimes is that I have plenty of time on my hands to look at things in a balanced way and I try not to come on in a knee jerk reactionary way eg after the shambolic Preston performance which left me spitting blood quite frankly and let the dust settle for a few hours.

Also a big influence in my posting is funnily enough the Nottingham Post whose reporting of what is happening borders on the absurd at times and riles me to the extent where I believe I can do better ( which quite frankly isn't difficult ).

As we all do I look at the Post site because its really about all we have and click on the Transfer updates section to be informed that Lee Westwood has won a golf tournament , Barnsley have a new manager Aston Villa have signed x, Rotherham have signed Y etc etc and it infuriates me.

We all like to read informative articles about our club that take into account the wide and varied opinions that we all have withiout resorting to the throwing around of name after name as the Post do.

The place to toss names about is on here , a banter and rumour site , not in a newspaper and you are quite right regarding offensive comments which seem to be creeping in on here from what appear to be new members who as far as I can check have not posted before.

Thank you for your comments and let's wait with baited breath for 11hrs to see whose up first .

As always. .

Let's get Matt Derbyshire back. Still only 32 years young and has scored 47 goals in 66 games for Omonia in the Cypriot league.

Stan the man 😁

15 Jun 2018 09:09:56
So let's take stock, attacking midfielder (playmaker) - tick, winger - tick, experienced CB - tick. What else does the team REALLY need to be competitive?
An experienced GK
A LB
Another playmaker
Another winger
2xStrikers

I make that around another 20m that needs to be spent if we're going to be competitive.

GazzaRed

1.) 15 Jun 2018 09:29:57
GK - Pantilimon (500k - 1.5m)
LB - Clark (Free - 500k) / Potts (500k - 1.5m)
AM - Tomlin (1m - 2m)
W - Maddison (4m - 5m)
ST - Marriot (6m - 7m) / Grabban (5m - 6m)
ST - Soudani (Free)

Min spending: 10.5m / Max spending: 17m

I personally would get Pantilimon (circa 1m), Clark (Free), Maddison (circa 4.5m), Soudani (Free), Marriot (circa 6.5m). Total: 12m

2.) 15 Jun 2018 09:40:43
GazzaRed, i should think the strikers will come to abot £15m so the other two will take it up to at least £25m, unless we get more loan players.

3.) 15 Jun 2018 10:29:00
No doubt the club will be looking in to the European loan market, I'd expect at least 2 or 3 more to come through that channel using the connections we clearly have with some key players in that market. I fully expect Soudani to be a forest player come the start of the season. Marriot has big question marks over his head and that deal isn't looking highly likely right now. If we were that keen on him, he'd be a Forest player already. I think a lot of our activity relies on the outgoings, we need to sell big before we can buy big. The club will need a guarantee that their wage bill isn't going to be sky high next season to ensure the club is sustainable. That means the likes of Henderson, Kapino, Mancienne, Traore, Lam, McKay, Ward, Ariyabi, Bouchalakis, Grant, Murphy, Clough, Walker, Cummings, Vellios all need to be shipped out. Taking a stab at it, I'd say that's around £180,000 per week in wages (or 9.4m per year). That could be the difference between being in or out of FFP. The question is, do the players want to play football or just pick up their pay cheque. It's a tough situation as a lot of these players will have to take pay cuts and probably move down a division or move abroad if they want regular football. I'd suggest the two most likely to stick around would be Henderson and Murphy. Henderson doesn't seem to mind picking up the money and not playing and as for Murphy, well we all knew at the time what a crazy contract that was to offer. The others, we should be able to move on or likely in most cases, loan out. Big challenges for the club over the coming month or so, a big mess still to clean up.

13 Jun 2018 14:37:11
Great to see that Forest have secured their best shirt sponsor to date with BetRight. But for me what's even more reassuring is that BetBright are changing the colour of their logo to match our shirts. If you ever need an example of how we have the right people in the right jobs behind the scenes, minor details like that is proof.

GazzaRed

11 Jun 2018 17:23:52
Looks like the fee for Carvalho is a bit lower than originally thought, just 10m.

GazzaRed

1.) 11 Jun 2018 17:38:48
If you got that off Twitter the tweet says the fee is though tone over £10mill.

2.) 11 Jun 2018 18:29:52
Just 10 million well that's OK then we can buy another 10 at that price 😆 that's just the bbc talking will wait to see what forest after say if these signings ever go through hope they've all been to specsavers

3.) 12 Jun 2018 06:58:56
I used the word 'just' to bring the doomers out for a laugh.

4.) 12 Jun 2018 14:17:51

You're right Stevie, think we're getting wires crossed, definitely normal in the game nowadays to spread costs over many months or even years in the case of Carvalho. Its very clever business as only 3m max has been paid out for the player to Benefica until next year so if the move does not work out, we're still well within FFP and can sell him on and pay all, if not the majority of the money owed to benefice. So what seems like a big transfer fee, the transfer itself is quite low risk.

And Mr Allan won't be stupid enough to think that Forest have just gone out and spent 13m on one player outright. So he has no reason to believe we are "splashing" any cash.

To date, the owner hasn't splashed any cash, we have a loan player, a freebie and Carvalho whos 13m transfer is being paid over 5 years, so just under 3m per year.

I agree RJ and that's for me why it comes down to Grabban and Oliveira (and maybe Vydra but things seem to have gone cold on him) these are the 2 strikers who are openly available and are not demanding too high of a price in this current market. I prefer Oliveira for the following reasons
1) he's 4 years younger than Grabban
2) he scored goals in a very poor NF side
3) he has the attributes we need, big, strong and knows where the goal is
4) he's likely to be on lower wages than Grabban
5) he's likely to cost a little less

I agree Skegs - he's had one good season in League One. I'd much rather the money be spent on a striker who has played at this level. My preference would be Oliveira and then Grabban.
