I read on here a lot that all we need is new defenders and things will get better. I don't see it that way. If MW wants our defenders to pass and put the ball at risk all the time it wouldn't matter who was playing at the back the mistakes would still happen. At the moment we can't spend the money needed to bring in ball playing defenders.

Agreed it's not as simple as that. We do not have a top quality playmaker to unlock the defence like Reidy could. Plus you need some pace and power up front to turn the opposition defence when your ball playing centre backs are closed down and need to play it longer?

Murphy is still one of the best 9's we've ever had but he needs pace alongside to defend from the top of the pitch.

With the current squad the only chance you have of avoiding Ipswich /Cardiff/Leeds is 3 at the back, 2 up front, not playing 3 diddymen in midfield and mixing up tippy tappy with more direct play?

Warbo's legacy will be defined by his signings in Jan to address these shortcomings ?

He could always go back to the way dougie got is teams playing attractive attacking football the ground was always full then and I do miss the money I use to make off is games with the bookies draw draw bore draw lol

Redinexile mckay has a great eye for defence splitting passes but he is made to stay wide where his pace is exposed!!!

The shopping list for January is GK, CB, AM, CF. I also imagine Hobbs, Mills and Vellios will be moved on.

Must admit Rutland I would like to see McKay play centre mid,he has an eye for the defence splitting ball an eye for goal and is always comfortable on the ball as well as being genuine two footed.his only problem seems to be a lack of fitness to last 90 mins, but that will come.

McKay needs to get in the same gym as Tyler Walker and bulk up to stand up to the rigours of the Championship otherwise he will just become a bit part player?

Spot on Red Fred, also when with Derby he had no money and had to recruit from the lower leagues.Sheffield Utd to 2 cup semi finals and i think they finished 6th?
It was 98% Nigels work that got Burton into the Football league.
Lets get him in and see what he can do.Hes performing miracles at Burton just to keep them in this league.

My Middlesbrough work colleagues both say defensively very good but we won't play flowing football.Plus he did walk out on them when the going got tough a couple of seasons ago and then went back . But got to be better than MW so i'm open minded on it.
My choice would be our old No 9
