First of all i think MOn will do a great job at Forest.

Secondly it looks to me that now AK has gone so has Carvalhos place in the side Ireland didn't fancy him and by the look of things neither does Martin.

If you look at the player MON has brought in Benalouane who was grea t by the way and the player he is looking at McLean they are both hard men not powder puffs that we have been signing.

Joao is a gifted player but imo to lightweight for this league. I would bring in McDonald from Fulham to create for us a big strong physical player.

Good luck Martin you're going to need it.

Spot on munmad

2.) 20 Jan 2019 14:30:52
Carvalho doesn’t fit in a 4-4-2 which MoN played yesterday. Can see him coming back in if we play the loan striker which has been working this season. It’s the defense that’s let the team down as of late.

3.) 20 Jan 2019 17:29:26
You say he doesn't fit in a 442 but then why not go with a 41212 at home? Similar to the Billy Davies era when Majewski/McGugan played a role like Carvalho.

Even if we did do that though I don't think Grabban and Murphy can play together, we need a striker with a lot of pace to play alongside one of them.

4.) 20 Jan 2019 18:08:22
Didn’t realise we had a loan striker Kimbo?
Or did you mean lone striker as in “The Lone Ranger”?
“ Hiho silver-Awayyy”. Could always put Tonto up front with him. 🤪

5.) 20 Jan 2019 18:23:09
Rick, what a great shout that is. I think MON may we’ll try that. Loved Lewis and Radi when they were on their game (too infrequent on both counts) but a think carvalho is a better player so why not try it? Next issue is the Chris Cohen replacement ? Vital to have that kind of energy in that formation .

6.) 20 Jan 2019 18:29:56
Well tap I don't think I've ever seen a 4 1212 mate either,must be some dating agency or something?🤣🤣🤣

7.) 20 Jan 2019 18:57:01
Sounds like he’s testing a microphone Ff 🎤

8.) 20 Jan 2019 19:06:08
😭😭😭😭tap I'm dripping

9.) 20 Jan 2019 19:14:06
The problem yesterday was the lack of a defence because of bad discipline, which wasn't Martin's fault, he picked what he had and I think Benalouane had a great game after 1 training session, as did Colback and Jacob, unfortunately these two are too alike for 442, perhaps his only mistake was to pick a 442 formation so soon.
On the other hand I can't believe so many negative comments, I set next to a guy yesterday who did nothing but criticise the performance, manager, the players and the whole atmosphere in the stadium, the atmosphere I agree with, it was the most subdued I have known for many years, on social media fans have been calling for 442 particularly at home all season, and now its we shouldn't be playing this formation, personally I hope the manager has got the balls to stick with it, it's simple, the easiest thing to do in football is talk, when we are defending everyone picks a man up, yesterday Janko was being pulled into positions he shouldn't have been which gave them 2 men wide left, its simple to talk to team mates.
Cash needs to stand up, he spends more time sat on his backside with his arms in the air,
Danny Fox should be back this week so that will give us more balance( if he isn't sold)
My team would be, (dependant on any new signings)
Steele
Janko Fox Benalouane Robinson
Lolley Colback Guidioura Osborn
Grabben Appiah

Pants, Carvalho, Yates, Jacob, Murphy, Ahmedhodzic, Ward.

All in all I thought we showed promise, again I hope we stick with 442, the fans need to get behind Martin and the players, give them the time to develop, you just never know what can happen in this division.

I know some of you will have a go back but this is my thoughts.

COYR

10.) 20 Jan 2019 20:01:02
Janco needs binningg off total crap.
Fox and benalouan are both left sided and I know which one 8d prefer and it ain't fox.
Appiah is not a striker and Osborn does my head in to be honest, great engine but brain hmmmm?talk about going forwards to turn backwards?
Always puts a shift in but what is he? Ihavent got a clue personally and after playing 194 games for us at the age of 24 he's unlikely to get better and can't hold down one position ,has just Mr emergency time to go,sell sell

11.) 20 Jan 2019 20:12:29
I agree with you about Osborn, Cash is another one that keeps falling over to easily, still has a lot of potential but needs bulking up, would be better off as an impact sub but is still one for the future,

12.) 21 Jan 2019 07:47:08
I know players have bad games but constant slanging off of players like Osborn, Cash etc won't improve them.
Most Forest fans wet themselves when Osborn scored the winner against Derby but turn on him in the blink of an eye.
James Perch comes to mind, moaned about constantly and then won promotion with another team and stayed in the top league for quiet a while and those who moaned about Morgan being overweight won promotion to premier league and won it too.
Yes give Appiah a chance, he's turned down two German teams and that's from his mouth, he went to school with my stepson, that shows commitment.
The only two that's been really poor of late are Pantilimon and Guedioura, two of the most experienced and senior players.

13.) 21 Jan 2019 12:56:20
I can see the sniping has already started , Karanka 's fault, players fault, injured players fault, MON's fault BUT never the moaning fans fault?
This is going to get very toxic very quickly if everyone does not get a grip and get behind the manager and players!

Hutton hopefully won't come Ameobi is at best a squad player.

If we are to show any ambition this year its players like Byram and O'Dowda that we need to be signing not journeymen and freebies.

I'm not a big MON fan and worry even more now Keane has left the club about our ability to attract good players.

I don't think he has the contacts that say Frank Lampard has and imo is out of touch with modern day methods. I hope i'm wrong and end up eating humble pie and we get promotion.

MUNMAD7980

1.) 24 Jun 2019 10:16:53
So you don't want Hutton because he is a freebie, he will play at least 30 odd games again like he did last season for villa as long as he doesn't get injured. But you would rather have sam.byram who will cost a couple of million and is very injury prone and will miss half the or more of the season through injury just like last season then you will moan he's always injured and will say what a waste of money.

2.) 24 Jun 2019 10:35:18
I don't want Hutton because he is a journeyman and yes he is 34 Byram is 24 and if he stays injury free could be a good player for years to come.

Are you a fortune teller how do you know he will miss half the season! and how do you know that I will say what a waste of money!

My concern is the amount of players in the squad that are over 30 and have no real allegiance to the club.

We have good young players like Appiah,Johnson.Coveney etc who should be given 1st team experience rather than persisting with Dads Army!

3.) 24 Jun 2019 10:53:10
'Dont tell him Pike!!!"

4.) 24 Jun 2019 11:03:44
they don't like it up em!!

5.) 24 Jun 2019 11:05:51
He missed half the season last year and has struggled to stay fit a few years now he came to us from west ham to get fit after an injury then got injured again.

There are no players now days in any team who have allegiance to any club to be fair money talks

19 Jun 2019 10:18:27
How about this for a HOOFBALL team this season

PANTILLIMON

FIGERREDO
WORRALL
MILOSEVIC

WATSON
YACOB
YATES
ROBINSON

HEFELE
MURPHY
BENALOUANE

Absolutley no creativity in the side what so ever BUT what a fantastic MON hoofball team!

MUNMAD7980

1.) 19 Jun 2019 10:31:54
Posts like to his are no addition to this site you would have been better off naming a team you would like to see next season, and the MON bashing is getting old too, if you not willing to show support to the team and management why support the club in the 1st place, through thick and thin we all support this fantastic club we are going to have a great future new stadium new players new memories hopefully from the premier league

2.) 19 Jun 2019 10:50:26
Saw every game home and away last season and have supported the side since 1970 and I consistently posted positive team suggestions throughout last season!

Being honest I am not a big MON fan but I do love this club and want us to get back to playing the Forest way. That post was tongue in cheek but does highlight my worry about what our style of play this season will be.

I was a big SOD and AK fan because they imo played the game the right way and both went when we were 7th in the table!!

3.) 19 Jun 2019 11:21:01
You were a big ak fan yet want to get back to playing the forest way massive contradiction there, sorry but was such negative defensive football, I'm waiting for mon to get a squad of his players before making judgement but I don't think he is as old fashioned as some are making out, i can see the 3 5 2 being used more as that formation finished so well

4.) 19 Jun 2019 11:30:35
Why do you assume MON is going to play " hoofball" ?
His teams over the years have played decent football but this assumption on his style has only come from managing Ireland where he has had to impose a style of play to reflect the very limited creative resources available.
He is not stupid and knows we will need to be able to adapt tactics to get out of this league and if that means playing long ball football with 14 6' 2"+ giants against the likes of Millwall et al to stop us getting rolled over then that's fine by me!

5.) 19 Jun 2019 13:32:13
Redinexile. The manager has been kept by the club so he deserves our support when the season starts, I agree with you about his International team but with a team that contained Lolley, and Carvalho, in midfield, and a striker like Grabben who likes the ball on the floor, why did the manager get the team to play hoofball as some like to call it.

6.) 19 Jun 2019 14:03:50
Grabban was mostly injured and unavailable to Martin and to be fair to Martin he game nearly everyone a chance to show what they could do.
He could only Murphy or ansarfarad in most games so the tactics dictated themselves as bonatini didn't cut the mustard or was match fit.
If you go back to the reading game it was Simon Ireland that first dropped carvalho and managers often take the coaches advice when first coming into a job.

7.) 19 Jun 2019 14:49:49
No point criticising MON. Yes he messed up not playing Carvs but that season is over. He’s not being sacked so may as well back him. Gain nothing from negativity at the start of the season. This coming from not his biggest fan. Yacob is too 1 dimensional and getting on and Bena is reckless. I expect us to get some younger, fresher players in.

8.) 19 Jun 2019 20:42:34
My kids have become really interested in watching the clough era wherever we can find it. I too have enjoyed it, interspersed in the forest footage is inevitably some derby footage - his derby team were a great side it has to be said .

At no point do I see any of his defenders messing around with it at the back , I see a keeper who kicks the ball out not rolls , many different keepers over many years. There seems to be some questionable memories over what the clough style actually was.

9.) 19 Jun 2019 21:52:59
The clough style
It was a successful style where every player knew his job, they weren't necessarily the best players but they complimented each other.
It was based on the best goalkeeper you can get a central defensive pairing that understood each other, two fullback that could defend but went forward with purpose.
Two wingers that could hurt the opposition but also be niggly in the tackle, one holding midfielder, one creative goalscorer in midfield and two strikers who formed a partnership.
The perfect formula for that era.

19 Jun 2019 09:03:04
Sell Soudani but keep Murphy! Hope this is not a sign that we are going to play " Hoofball " next season!

MUNMAD7980

1.) 19 Jun 2019 11:22:16
I agree I hope it is a sign that mon is shipping out the croks that don't play because there always injured

2.) 19 Jun 2019 21:16:17
Nobody wants Murphy who’s going to sign him? Imaginary fc

11 Jun 2019 16:04:03
Looking forward to next season as we have some good young players with another years Championship experience under their belts.

Yates, Carvalho, Appiah, Figeredo and Worrall with European experience, with these 5 players and if Tyler Walker can make the step up we have a decent spine to the team.

Couple that with Cash, Lolley, Clough and Osborne along with the experience of Pantilimon, Milosevic, Darikwa, Robinson and Grabban, I think we have the basis of squad without dipping into the market.

Dawson, Watson, Bridcutt, Murphy and Soudani should be let go imo.

MUNMAD7980

1.) 11 Jun 2019 17:47:01
Been there done that with youngsters time and time again doesn't work

2.) 11 Jun 2019 17:50:52
Mate,I'd add Cash and Darikwa to that listt of letting players go,they didn't exactly set the Championship on fire last season. just say'n.

3.) 11 Jun 2019 18:02:54
1. Sign 3/4 quality players (FB, DM, W, ST)
2. Keep ahold of our best players (Lolley, Carvalho,. )
3. Trim squad of older ‘fringe players’ who don't cut it (Bridcutt, Watson, Dawson, Hefele,. )
4. Keep some young players with potential as ‘squad players’ (Clough, Walker, Smith,. )

4.) 11 Jun 2019 18:11:32
Skegg, with you entirely , I think MUNMAD is just having a bit of sport with us. How’s it going anyhow bet it’s grim in the coast today!

5.) 11 Jun 2019 21:38:23
It's all about balance 2 star.
Stella in each hand hey skeggs?????
0s my imogies don't work anymore ?????

6.) 11 Jun 2019 21:51:04
Grim on the east coast????
Its grim here.
In fact it don't get any grimmer and can't even get on with my job.
Was going fishing Sunday first day of the season, not got far to go as the rivers turned up in our cul de sac ????

7.) 11 Jun 2019 22:21:10
Not good being back in this rain lol floods everywhere looking forward to my holiday next year now back to it 14 hour shift today feels like I've never been away lol hurry up the footie season

8.) 12 Jun 2019 00:55:02
79 football and fishing what a life think we should go watch us win loads of games next season followed by lots of fishing followed by lots of beer utopia

13 May 2019 11:11:07
Looking forward to the new season with optimism.

A new GK pref Westwood

Back three of Figeredo Worrall and Robinson

Byrom Yates Carvalho Cash Osborne

Lolley and Grabban

Young side with a bit of experience thrown in and no need to get the cheque book out apart from Byram.

I know I have missed out Colback but won the last three games without him. Just my opinion.

MUNMAD7980

1.) 13 May 2019 13:32:01
You could get away with Cash as the WB without Byram, dare I say we could bring Bridcutt back in? IMO we need a lb more than anything else, not because of Robinson or Osborn not being good but because it frees them both up to play in better positions.

2.) 13 May 2019 13:56:48
I’d love a summer with a max of 4 new players and the same leaving. Constant turnover does no one any good.

3.) 13 May 2019 14:11:32
I think we need to get rid of more than four. We have massive squad.

4.) 13 May 2019 14:19:50
Agree with 4 new players of quality but we have at least 20 to get rid of and many will be in their last year their contracts so hopefully a big clearout can be achieved,40 odd players is far too big a squad and many won't get a look in anyway.

5.) 13 May 2019 13:50:35
I would prefer a more experienced CM alongside Yates. Cash doesn't cut it for me for starting line-up. A decent, somewhat versatile, squad player at best

6.) 14 May 2019 06:09:29
Yates isn’t good enough nor is Worrall especially if we are aiming for promotion next season.will lolley still be here?i think villa will be sniffing regardless of if they go up or not.worrall has had a year of playing against league 2 standard players (like walker) and he’s still not held his place down up there.he needs (like walker) a year in league 1 before we should even consider bringing him/them in.

Keano could play anywhere apart from Goalkeeper.

I'm a big Osborne fan but unfortunatley given the system that AK plays he isn't quick enough to play left wing, which is the only position open for him if we continue to play 2 DCM players and a back four.

We should keep him though as He,Cash,Worrall,Yates,Gomis and Appiah could all step up to the 1st team in a year or so's time.
