Seen the posts about who will be modelling the new kit, I think you will be pleased when you see who has been picked to do the shot. For those who want the sponsor on the front, you can have this done in the shop if you want, (maybe a small charge but not sure. )

Old Red One

{Ed034's Note - it'll be free, like it was last season

1.) I was talking to somebody today who was adamant that the new sponsor is Paul Smith the fashion label who are based in Nottingham. He says he knows someone who works for them who has confirmed it.

2.) That would be great - we could resign former goalkeeper Paul Smith and the opposition strikers wouldn't know if he was concentrating or looking at the crowd.

Hi ed, I posted twice yesterday and said firstly that he was having fitness tests. My second post later said that he had passed his medical and was discussing terms. I have just got back from CG and after talking to those who know, the lad has discussed terms and has gone home to think about it. Everyone at the CG I spoke to think that he is a little bit overwhelmed and needs to talk to his family etc. Everyone also said that he seems to be a nice young man. There was no talk about him being approached by any other team, but there again I didn't think it appropriate to ask. To the true reds I say "be patient and stop making up stories that you know are not true"
COYR

Old Red One

{Ed034's Note - thanks for the post

1.) Yes but we do need a great plan B in case this doesn't come off

{Ed034's Note - im sure the club

2.) Having been given the opportunity to move to another country to work I know that it is a big decision. He has a family to think about and so I think he is being sensible. Sooner he does that than rush the decision and be unhappy. An unhappy player will be a poor player.

3.) On the bird site. Robin chipperfield has spoken to first team coach Brian Eastick on Lars Veldwijk and he said "there are just one or two minor hitches that need to be ironed out.

4.) I agree with the above, it's a massive decision but I'm sure that he'd have been aware of this for several weeks now so coming to nottingham to discuss terms would indicate he had made his mind up already. It's not like he found out yesterday morning and was whisked over all of a sudden! I'm not saying it won't happen but it would be interesting to know what the issues are

5.) Totally agree with old red one and hyper koi, why wouldn't he go home and talk things over? After all he's effectively immigrating. Which isn't going to be an easy decision. Real people with real lives and issues.

6.) All posts have good points. i'm swinging more towards Keenos views. My opinion is that his heads been turned at the last minute with the opportunity to play with Leicester in the prem. Like Keeno said it's not like he just found out yesterday morning about a move to Nottingham England.

7.) Hes 22 not 12. he's either had another offer or he's bottled it, one way or the other it looks like its off. Like Keeno says, he's had plenty enough time to weigh it up, if he wants to play for Forest then he would have jumped at it.

8.) I also think this deal will probably collapse now. No biggy, we move one.

9.) I agree with Keano.

Realistic view and although I hope it goes ahead the club hopefully has a back up plan

10.) Disagree with Keeno and the like. Yes clearly he's happy to play for Forest and personal terms have been agreed, but he can't commute to work from Holland and has friends/family to consider I'm sure.

So it's important to remember it's not just about football/money it's about quality of life. He might think Nottingham is a dive.

11.) You can get to amsterdam in an hour, plus a bit either side to get to the airport. not Mumbai, is it?

12.) Zdegrees. I understand your point but keeno makes a valid point, it isn't like we kidnapped him!

He would have had time to think about family/travel

{Ed034's Note - maybe the journey to nottingham has turned it real all of a sudden.

13.) Is there a direct flight from Nottingham to Amsterdam?

I wouldn't be too concerned, contract almost agreed and offer accepted. He wants to be at Forest so it could be something as simple as his missus wanting a flashy pad and come to Nottingham to check it out. Or something simple i'm sure

The young Dutch lad Veldwijk is currently having a medical with the Reds, I have read that he is costing £500,000 with add ons. His stats are very good but the league he has been playing in isn't top notch, will need an old head who scores goals alongside him in my opinion.
COYR

Old Red One

1.) Dont think we will be getting him that cheaply 30 goals in 38 games in a league similar to league 1 isn't bad going height and age on his side too

2.) I'm not getting too excited with Veldwijk. He's scored a lot of goals in a very sub-standard league. The likes of Proschwitz came to the Championship having good records in foreign second tiers and he's even struggling to start matches at Barnsley! Plus, we've already had our fingers burnt with Abdoun and Djebbour.

I'll be reserving judgement until I've seen him in the Garibaldi Red. God knows how people get excited over video clips on a certain tube channel.

3.) Fryatt and weldwijk would be ok.
Weldwijk as scored but it looks well a poor league but for 500k worth punt. Fryatt we know will score at championship level. Think we need Wilson aswel
To had pace. Then that would be forwards sorted.

{Ed034's Note - register please

4.) Hi ed, old red one here again. Just heard that the Dutch lad has passed his medical and is now considering terms.
COYR

{Ed034's Note - hi pal. welcome back

5.) Will be more like 2 mil

{Ed034's Note - this is the price being quoted in a dutch newspaper

6.) 500k plus add on perhaps, wouldn't of thought 500k inc add ons that seems to cheap,

i'll wait till he signs though look what happened with the other dutch lad who was signing then thought he get home sick

7.) Difficult one with the Dutch lad. I'll reserve judgement till I see him play. I looked at djebbours Video clips, his goal scoring stats in a good league and the champions league pedigree and thought he would tear the championship up. Look how that turned out!

{Ed034's Note - no different to any other signing I suppose

8.) Totally agree with stevessuttonswonkeyeye!

9.) He looks like Crouch but faster!

10.) See it this way he has a better strike rate than assomolonga in a similar division and we are paying at least three million less than what we would for the peterborough lad

11.) The young lad looks like he can score with both feet and his head, his positioning and runs into box look good to, though his control and first touch do need work on, but most gangly forwards have the same trouble!

Good investment at 500k will get on the end of a few Reidy crosses n corners.

Would like to see Fryatt at the city ground, reminds me of jack lester always going to cause defenders problems and likely to create or score. Hopefully add Wilson to the mix and you got a forward line that should give plenty defences cause for concern a last.

I see that some top Prem Teams are sniffing round our young players, I hope that we can hold on to them as they are our future. Please go along and see them on Wednesday night at the City Ground KO 7pm they are playing Tottenham in the Youth Cup. let's show them that we support them by turning out in big numbers, the last game against Burnley about 750 attended, I hope we beat that. One reminder for those who don't know, it is all ticket (not pay at the turnstile) get your ticket from the ticket office, I think it is £4, £2 for concessions and free to season ticket holders. This competition is probably as good as it gets for our young stars so let's give them a night to remember by singing and encouraging them.

Old Red One

1.) 16 Feb 2015 17:31:42
The young ones will be sold. Fawaz will see to that.

2.) 16 Feb 2015 18:03:26
Fawaz will have point selling them yet. He'd get peanuts for them. He'd be better to wait till them are regular first trainers and be able to get proper dollar!
A couple of thousand isn't going to benefit him.

3.) Old one, its also free to any one who pays into the foundation/academy lottery. The club are trying to generate a bit more support hope it works out and we can get through but also show the young lads how important they are to our club.

4.) Patrick Bamford comes to mind. Could have been learning at CG not out on loan at Boro!

5.) What depressing comments!
Bamford was sold to stop the club going into administration.
Darlow & Lascelles were sold to fund our strikers in the knowledge of FFP limits.
The Academy is our future as with most clubs. Any sales will be from the underperforming first team squad which will help balance FFP not selling youngsters on low wages!!

6.) People have to remember that bamford was sold for £1m at a time were forest were in financial trouble, hence why we lost players to free transfers around the same time i.e mcleary and mcgugan. and that was before fawaz came in. so I wouldn't expect fawaz to sell any youngsters unless we get over the top offers that would help us with ffp. so I think people are worrying for nothing. take it as a compliment that big teams are sniffing around our youngsters, proves they have something special

7.) We don't need to sell them to balance the books as the rules change for the start of the 2016/2017 season.no point trying to sort the balance book for next season as we have an embargo that we won't get out of or need to get out of as we have the players to stay up next season.

8.) 16 Feb 2015 22:32:51
The problem is that whatever we might think of our excellent Academy, this country is not producing good young players and there is no real structure to our football organisations as for example there is in Germany. Not enough youngsters are playing football any more. So when we have a strong academy it's natural that bigger clubs will come looking for young talented players, and persuade them to join.

9.) Don't think money will come into it. If a top prem club comes in for one of our youngsters and the player wants to go then the move will happen. Who are we to stand in their way. It's an inevitable fact of being a championship club !

10.) The reason there is no talented youngsters come through academy's is because the big teams come in for them too early, and never help them progress because they just get carted round the country on loan and then unfortunately ruin young players careers.

This is for the moaners who probably find it hard to understand how difficult it is for a new manager.
Here are some stats for you:
Sat 6th December
Forest played 20, Won 7, Lost 6, Goals for 23 Against 18. League Position 9th. Come on now this is not good enough, "Sack The Manager" I hear. Well this was 1975 and the Manager was no other than Brian Clough. We ended in a final position of 8th (3 positions above Chelsea) The following year after deciding to keep this no good manager we got promotion in 3rd place (3 points better than County) So to you of little faith, think on, get behind SP, Fawaz, and all the others trying to get us where BC got us, and if you actually go to see the games stop moaning and start singing with us that give our all whether we are winning losing or drawing. (Rant over)

Old Red One

1.) 08 Dec 2014 17:02:47
Well said matey this season is a learning curve as the club has been retuned from top to bottom and things don't happen overnight.

2.) Brilliant. Well said Old Red one.

3.) I think most people play FIFA 15 too much and have no grip on reality, and patience doesn't exist in the modern game. It will take time to get there but I'm sure we will in the end. We need to up the tempo in midfield, really go at teams from the off.

4.) That was 40 years ago, tactics and attitudes have changed, but you are right red one let's get behind Pearce, until some no mark team beats us again

5.) I See the u-18 and u-21 Squads are doing really we'll of Late both on winning streaks.

6.) People only mention the under 21's when they lose. been a few post on here saying they are crap but nothing gets said when they are doing good. funny isn't it.
In ferguson's first season he was going to get the sack but they held onto him and gave him a chance, how did he do after that?
Championship manager is the devil and makes people think it's easy to win games and manage a team, it is easy when the level setting is on beginner we are in the real world.

7.) Why do people insist on quoting fergies and BC stats as examples of why you should keep a manager. There are hundreds of examples of people who had bad records to start with and still didn't acjieve. One thing that both fergie and BC had was that they had already achieved in europe and domestically repectively. so please don't put SP in the same catogary. Forest legend yes. Great manager jurys out.

8.) Couldn't have put it better Mulligan,we have the players have we a manager who can tell them

9.) Personally I don't think we do have the players and some will come and go in the coming months but I would certainly like to see the manager given a couple of seasons at least.

10.) I think we have the players and the manager. Injuries to Reid Cohen & Hobbs are killing us. Plus Lansburys done a Fernando Torres and become garbage overnight. We are going to need at least one more season.

02 Oct 2014 17:17:41
Please don't think that this is any type of criticism because its not, it is just an interesting observation. I like many, feel very confident this season, and it is easy to let emotions get in the way of facts. We are having a good start to the season but it is not as good as last season after 10 games. Currently the record is P.10 W.5 D.5 L.0 Goals F.17 A.7 Points 20. Last season P.10 W.6 D.4 L.0 Goals F 18 A 9 Points 22. Its interesting to see that at this time of both seasons we hadn't lost a game. I hope that I have the facts correct, I am sure that if I haven't you lot will put me right. Anyway on-wards and up-wards with the best manager and owner in the league. Bridgford End not Trent End this season (thanks to the old ed.) haven't heard a moan there yet, I'm not used to that COYR

Old Red One

1.) Sorry if i'm the first old red one :-) but we lost at Wigan in our 5th league game last season.

2.) After 10 games last season we had 19 points, so we are better off this time. we had also scored less and conceded more last term to this term so again we are better off this time round.

3.) 02 Oct 2014 18:52:42
wots last season got to do with owt that happens this season. but i agree with your owner and manager comment.

4.) Last season we had Halford.
This season we have Assamballongo!
End of debate!

Oh dear, Oh dear, Ed. I have just read that the poor sheep have injury problems, I feel so sorry for them, just like they did for us last season. I am also led to understand that the A52 (Brian Clough Way) is to be altered so that it is down hill all the way to Nottm. This season I am in the Bridgford End close to where the flock of sheep will gather, I am sure that they will be made very welcome by us letting them know how much we love them. Finally, seeing that we mustn't upset the little lambs, let's all tell their shepherd how much we appreciated him when he was at the CG. Can't wait, COYR

Old Red One

1.) Ive got nowt against the current shepherd, SMc tried at forest- things didn't go the way he wanted but he walked away honourably in my eyes. He's a good coach and walked away without taking a pay off-ok he lumbered us with a few expensive flops but even the greatest did that on a few occassions, he's a good footballing man and I'll give him a quiet round of applause before ko followed by a few jeers when we put the ball in the back of their net!

2.) 10 Sep 2014 19:22:57
In terms of value for money from in-coming transfers within a very short spell in charge SM was the worst manager we have had within living memory (and there are some strong rivals for this accolade).

Hi Ed you may already know this but I am so pleased I had to post it. Tyler Walker has gone out to be with the rest of the squad, not bad for a 17 year old. He is a lovely lad and is dedicated to the reds, he isn't at all big headed and still hangs around with his mates he played with before Forest. Apparently all the players were expected to stay within a weight limit when they turned up for pre season, Tyler had worked so hard he had lost weight and was told to put a bit of bulk on. I believe that when SP has sorted one or two things out with him he will be a quality first team player in a couple of years, he may even be our home grown 20 goals a season man. I am led to understand that his younger brother is also of great potential but I think he is in Direbys youth set up. How proud is Des?

Old Red One

{Ed034's Note - be great if he comes good

Hi ed, your answer to Keeno is spot on. I have been at CG today as usual, and not heard anything worth mentioning, very few there as most are on holiday at the moment. I heard a strong rumour about Collison a while back but there are concerns about his long history of leg injuries (we don't want anyone else arriving with ongoing problems) No more about Peltier yet but do know that he would jump at the chance of joining us. I agree with you that we may be getting another from abroad, let's wait and see.

{Ed034's Note - when everyone's back I'll hear more but at the minute it's very quiet

Hi Ed. this rumour is factual. He played for West Bridgford as a schoolboy and was picked up by Forest. He is still only 17yrs old but has impressed in the youth team to such an extent that he has played (and scored a few) in the under 21s. He is a potential prolific goal scorer, he is a lovely lad and is very respectful. I don't know if he will play tomorrow but I can confirm that he is in the squad. Hope that he gets a chance tomorrow his Dad will just burst with pride if he does.

{Ed034's Note - be great to give him half an hour

Hi Ed long time since posting due to illness. I have been trying to keep up to date while laying in a hospital bed for 3 weeks,(am I addicted to this site) Anyway I was discharged last week with the instruction not to stand for too long and no booze. As I have posted before I have spent many years in the Trent End but got fed up with negative talk and poor vocal support of the lads. I took your advice and got a season ticket for Lower Bridgford End. Against my consultants advice I was there yesterday, Wow it was great, if only the whole ground was as enthusiastic and noisy, I loved it and forgot about not standing which I did for the whole game, I also did celebrate the score with some Scottish water. Thanks for the advice on where to sit you were spot on. By the way I was helped by fans to get to my seat and out of the ground safely, if any of them read this "I thank you". COYR

Old Red One

{Ed034's Note - glad to hear you're back on your feet and return to good health.
I think lower and upper bridgford have started to bounce off each other and the atmosphere will hopefully get better still

Hi Ed about the CG upgrade, I was told today that SP had put it in print that he liked it, unfortunately I didn't ask where. Any way I have seen it and it's good, wait for kick off and see if you agree, I think you will.

I should not have put the word strict in the post, I should have just put instructions. It is nothing like a BD rant, all he wants is respect and he feels that calling him a name that he now finds to be disrespectful is not acceptable. I am only saying what he is expecting which is for fans to realise that he doesn't like the title of Psyco, this is not nonesence, it is human.

Old Red One

{Ed034's Note - I must admit, I find this a little odd. I went to an audience with him last year and this was never mentioned. He also says he has a special bond with us fans and for him to say he finds it disrespectful if we carry on calling him the same thing we have for years, also sounds odd.
One thing I can guarantee is that if this is his wish, he has bob hope of getting it
