In January 1975 Forest appointed a new manager for a team and club that was in a spiral of decline.

The team had the same points equivalent and matches played as we find ourselves today and with a patched up team we finished 16th on the equivalent of 50 points. It took us 2 seasons to get promotion.

In January 2018 we find ourselves with new owners, investment and new manager having had the most successful transfer window in recent memory.

History tells us to be patient and ignore the detractors who cannot cope with radical change!

We did OK promoting journeymen footballers to the first team then so what can possibly go wrong now?

Onward and Upward!

1.) 13 Feb 2018 21:21:37
Red really?
Sir Brian was different class to Karanka,No comparison
He'd already won the equivalent of the premier league and nearly conquered Europe.
Karanka has won promotion to the premier and then they got relegated.
That's clutching at straws mate

2.) 13 Feb 2018 21:29:14
And Ohare and McGovern were hardly journeyman they'd won the title for him at derby.
He didn't buy a team full overnight.
He waited till the summer got his best pal back then made a few signings.

3.) 13 Feb 2018 23:09:10
Bloomin eck FF You could wipe the smile from a childs face on Christmas Day.
Nice post Red. Very optimistic but still nice.

4.) 13 Feb 2018 23:54:52
FF79. Karanka has NOT bought a full team overnight he has simply strengthened his squad to get us through this season with little outlay or financial risk. He will review again in the summer when we will see more movement in and out as he shapes his squad. We have bought Lolley a good youngish player and brought experienced and combative midfielders (Guedioura and Watson) in on 2 and a half year deals. Kapino has signed for 18 months.

The rest are either on loan til the end of the season (Pantilimon, Figueiredo albeit with a view to a perm, Colback and Tomlin) and then Fuentes and Dejagah have signed short term deals to the end f the season. We may or may not look to extend any of these deals depending on whether they do the biz and we can afford them. So just the 4 permanent signings so far and the rest to have a look at. Hardly buying a whole team is it? Let’s give these players and the manager a chance eh? Something drastic needed changing with regards to the old guard. It’s going to take a bit of time to gel and get up to speed so some patience and perspective is needed imho.

5.) 14 Feb 2018 02:40:59
Bang on with that Ruddy.

6.) 14 Feb 2018 06:23:32
Great post ruddy

7.) 14 Feb 2018 10:03:36
With you both on that Red and Ruddy.
FF79 could turn milk sour from 50 paces.

8.) 14 Feb 2018 11:28:31
"Roses are Red,Violets are blue, come Saturday, Forest will score 2!!!"

9.) 14 Feb 2018 11:45:00
Would echo your comments Ruddy, good stuff and sensible.

10.) 14 Feb 2018 12:02:30
Thank you for cheering me up from the Grim Reaper 79 and his negativity which will no doubt predict Burton will score 3!!! against our "journeymen" signings

11.) 14 Feb 2018 12:32:09
No worries mate. as Del Boy days 'Eee Ooh Dares Rodders!!! Eee Ooh Dares!!!" 🚚🚚🚚 ( Couldn't find Del Boys van!! Lol)

12.) 14 Feb 2018 16:23:24
The grim reaper..... Doesn't he play for the Red Devil's?
Forest win 2-1

13.) 14 Feb 2018 19:52:46
Thing is tap it's better to have an opinion than not one at all.
This site wouldn't exist if we all agreed

05 Feb 2018 16:55:07
Rumoured we made a bid for Rhodes on deadline day.
Personally pleased we did not get him as I'm not convinced he would have been good for the team work ethic and has been off the boil in recent seasons?

1.) 05 Feb 2018 17:09:09
Fantastic signing in watson. Brilliant stuff ak and people involved, well pleased with signings. COYR let's get a decent run going now end the season as high as possible.

2.) 05 Feb 2018 22:38:58
Well red in exile, there's nothing wrong in trying to buy a Greek island on deadline day.
Give the players a nice place to go and relax?😁😁

01 Feb 2018 00:15:02
Hull Mail confirm that Michael Dawson is still a Hull player after the deadline.

Only hope is that they agree to cancel his contract after the dust settles so he can join as a free agent next week or after the return fixture at the City Ground?

We could do with him to complete the set!

1.) 01 Feb 2018 01:06:26
Hull have confirmed Dawson will be a Hull play untill seasons end, behond that they do not know.

2.) 01 Feb 2018 01:12:48
I'm pretty sure players had to be a free agent before the window closed to be able to sign them

31 Jan 2018 23:13:56
Northern Echo reporting Geddi is signing for us from Boro.

1.) 31 Jan 2018 23:33:30
If he hasn't signed yet or been released then he isn't coming. The deadline has gone.

2.) 01 Feb 2018 00:06:19
On a free agent

31 Jan 2018 19:53:27
Sky journo suggesting Flanagan from Liverpool on his way!

1.) 31 Jan 2018 20:30:04
While we talking to Liverpool bout Flanagan can we tap them up for Danny inggs

2.) 31 Jan 2018 22:13:06
Flanagan going to Bolton (Sky)

3.) 31 Jan 2018 22:32:43
Well I suppose its easy from Bolton for him to beat a path to his girlfriends door?

Forest clearly going at it in the second half and showing spirit. Where are the fans? Get behind the team you need to do your bit?

1.) 20 Feb 2018 22:50:20
You can thank the crowd for that second half. As soon as the fans got behind them they stared to go for it. Certainly more effective than the booing at half time.

20 Feb 2018 21:04:03
Why are we playing both the Sorcerer and his Apprentice as they seem to be getting in each other's way?

1.) 20 Feb 2018 21:10:27
Why don’t you ask your favourite manager red ☝️

2.) 20 Feb 2018 21:55:45

I had a word and he took Dowell off to move the main man into the driving seat to score the equalizer?

Comeback would not have happened under Wallace & Grommit?

3.) 21 Feb 2018 00:03:04
Neither would we except a draw against burton and reading and make it into a great deal getting a point from each game what’s that 5 points from 21 a joke

4.) 21 Feb 2018 00:34:21
.I bet you have been on the phone to KFC complaining you have not had your chicken fix this week?

2 draws after a major reset of our player supply chain is acceptable and we will now start to improve post Fawaz

20 Feb 2018 20:42:18
Matt Mills, Patrick Bamford and Zak Clough doing a great job for the lads in the first half.
Stop pi**ing about at free kicks and just put it in the back of the net?

1.) 20 Feb 2018 22:22:59
There is nobody to put it in the net... They couldn't score from a yard away from goal with a goalie missing... Useless

20 Feb 2018 13:06:15
Cheer up its Reading tonight. Usually a few goals to savour and a regulation home win.

1.) 20 Feb 2018 13:12:07
Only fear is RIE, we generously give points away to teams struggling with form. Hopefully we can put a side out to get AK his first home win. With luck Reading will still be on the beach 😎

17 Feb 2018 15:39:27
Eric sees red.
All set up for the Escape from Colditz.
Pass pass pass and stop being intimidated.
Need to take Brereton off unless he calms down before half time otherwise we will be down to 9!

1.) 17 Feb 2018 16:15:34
I'd take Breton off anyway to be honest

2.) 17 Feb 2018 17:06:28
Well done boys, that result would not have happened under Wallace & Grommit?

AK trusts his players and having cleared the deadwood they have now rewarded him.

What is there for the Karamoaners to bitch about this weekend?

3.) 17 Feb 2018 17:21:19
Nothing at all,my big bet came up ,wedge on Dowell coming on ,got to admit sweating near the end!

4.) 17 Feb 2018 17:26:00
Lol redinexile ☝️Clean sheet against burton well done Karanka you are the chosen one

5.) 17 Feb 2018 17:58:52
One thing we can all agree on is our injury curse seems to have lifted!!! Only Hobbs, and Cohen as far as I know, now that's a helluva change from last season!!!(I could have swore I seen some of'em on Casualty last year!!!) πŸš‘πŸš‘πŸš‘
All the newbies are getting fitter aswell!!! I definitely think we'll finish much higher than last term,"Reasons To Be (reasonably) Cheerful!!" So cheer up you "Blockheads!!" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

6.) 17 Feb 2018 18:00:22
Drinks on "Carlo"!!! Southern Comfort on the rocks mate!!! πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚

7.) 17 Feb 2018 18:09:04
For me it,s Love on the rocks!

8.) 17 Feb 2018 18:10:24
Looked pretty solid, Watson looks like a proper captain organising the players round him, happy with the result considering we had 10 players for most of the match.

Mustaphanotherclubnextseason has been the archetype journeyman footballer all his career. We should never have signed him in the first place! Good riddance.

Lolley is a solid signing who will give us good service.

Spot on Ped. It's little wonder the manager and team is always under pressure when the fans cannot even get basic facts correct!

Lets just stop and look who AK has shipped out

Walker - League 1 striker at best

Clough - Cannot play him with Dowell but will be OK next year

Cummings- We cannot wait for him to take 18 months to adapt to Championship football

Ward - Sicknote for hamstrings

Traore - ditto

Carayol - Has never held down a first team slot wherever he has played and cannot stay match fit

Mills - I rest my case!

The biggest threat to team spirit and confidence is having players that cannot stay fit and put a run of games together for a settled pattern or having players in your team who the rest know are not up to Championship quality.

You surely cannot be serious in claiming these players were not given a chance? Karanka knows this league and will have done his homework beforehand.

We need a minimum of 15 points from 15 games so 2 or 3 wins over the next half a dozen games will set us up nicely!

Burncross its the other way around Fawaz is being sued by the club for payment he owes NFFC.

The exchange rate for payment in camels must have taken a dive?

They can always send the bailiff in to collect a few of his motors if the family cheque book has been lost!

The dust will settle over the next few games as the "match stats" Karamoaners will have been disarmed when we put a run of form together towards the end of the season . This in itself will be a change from previous regimes where we always finish with a cough and splutter and squeaky bums!

Still on course for 60-65 points which if everyone is being honest we would have happily settled for at the start of the season?

Too many half empty glasses from seasons past so please park your sniping and embrace the Spring clean that has now started in earnest!

You really do need to get out more. I realise it's winter and in places like Skeggy the Sad Syndrome its hard until Spring. But really cheer up the club is in a better place than its been since the days of donkeys on the beach?

Davies and Freedman are like Skegness. A tempting experience on a sunny day but you know that after a weekend the sky will darken and you will always be disappointed and never want to come back?
Karanka has a lot more idea about getting it right than any recent managers.
