Inconsistency has been our biggest problem in recent seasons and for me this can be traced to our disastrous overseas recruitment of players.

In the last 6 seasons we have signed 36 players from outside the English League and yet only Moussi (average at best) has played regularly for more than a season.

Only Pinillos, Oliveria, Figueiredo and
Carvalho have offered improvement on other squad players with the jury out on Pele. Milosevic and Soudani.

Little wonder we cannot maintain a challenge when these players cannot hit the ground running?

It's clear most of these signings have been stop gap signings rather than managers first pick. So until this policy changes we will not move forward.

1.) 15 Apr 2019 22:16:54
You can't just blame it on poor imports red it's not like many will be top notch as they are coming to the championship not the premier.
We've signed a lot of poor British players as well.
Biggest problem is signing players in general that are on the decline.
The odd one yes but not team full.
Not since we signed Britt and Antonio have we bought very wisely.

2.) 16 Apr 2019 08:06:07
RIE, So Mr shut up and get behind everyone at the club, how else can the club be successful if we do not turns into the very person he despises. 不不不不不不不不.

3.) 16 Apr 2019 08:38:00
Agreed Ff. A lot on here seem to find it easier to blame Johnny foriegner!

4.) 16 Apr 2019 15:30:18
In the interest of balance which British based players in the squad have been as bad or worse as the 30 odd overseas under performers we have recycled?

5.) 16 Apr 2019 18:56:41
RIE, You are so convinced about English players being superior, give us player by player of the 44 players we have how the English players are better.

6.) 16 Apr 2019 21:32:08
Here's a few for you red.
Then if you add all the sick notes like Hobbs,Dawson,Vaughan and the rest, think that should answer your queston

7.) 16 Apr 2019 22:15:58
Lolley and Grabban equally as frustrating, both carry the can for Saturdays loss.

09 Feb 2019 12:48:40
Today's clash with Brentford will tell us whether Martin and Roy are going to hit the ground running and keep us in contention.

The team set up as much as the selections will be key. Brentford hammered Blackburn who tweaked their 4-4-2 system to 4-1-4 -1 and still got over - run in midfield and out wide.

4-2-3-1 has served us well against the better teams and bearing in mind our problems at centre back gives us a better platform today than 4-3-3 which would be a very brave call.

Yacoub needs to be in to provide protection in front of the back 4, Carvalho to keep us on the front foot, no fudging with Benny at left back and plenty of legs in midfield?

Heart hopes a Forest win but head says 3-3 with a patched up defence?

1.) 09 Feb 2019 13:26:33
We won't score 3. 1-3 Brentford.

2.) 09 Feb 2019 17:41:25
Scouse me duck,we won oh ye of little faith.
Martin is learning about the squad he inherited and took what redinexile said on board, then ignored it and won the game.

3.) 09 Feb 2019 18:09:22
I am and yet to be convinced. 31% possession at home and you want entertainment?

4.) 09 Feb 2019 18:15:12
So no Jacob, Benny at left back and no Carvalho! Bingo! 2-1.

If Grabban hadnt missed so many penalties we'd be in the play-offs now.

Just saying.

5.) 09 Feb 2019 18:37:14
If we hadn't 'changed' managers we would be too. Frustrating because those lost points are going to cost us.

6.) 09 Feb 2019 18:42:01
Its called a learning process Scouse,
He's inherited a top heay squad of under achievers with ill disisipline if you had watched and not looked at the possession stats you would see we defended really well and could and should have scored more.
He's learning and will sort this lot out.
Rome wasn't built in a day, you'll enjoy soon my friend, its just Martin's pre season.
Be a lot of outgoing come the summer.
But he's giving every one a chance to prove they are worth the privilege of wearing the shirt.
50% win rate after four games

7.) 09 Feb 2019 18:46:59
Finished article by April then? Boro at home my next chance for some entertainment.

8.) 09 Feb 2019 18:39:22
Well done Martin, Roy and the team for getting us back on track. Good to see the tried and tested system against one of the better teams. Should have had my 3 goals but really pleased the head was over-ruled by the heart today.

Just goes to show having picked different personnel in key areas of the park the "Victor crap" list is perhaps not as long as he makes out?

Onward & Upward

PS And yes I was wearing them today during the game whilst out and about!

9.) 09 Feb 2019 19:30:49
I know it was windy today but redinexile is a total blow job.
So you weren't wearing the lucky red ones last week then?
I'd say keep em on,they are undefeated after all .

10.) 09 Feb 2019 19:32:54
Fickle fans eh? Make your minds up are they all dross to clear out or a competitive squad needing a 'better' manager to get the best out of them?

11.) 09 Feb 2019 19:36:06
ScouseRed? Hahahahaha. You're making yorself look rather silly mate.

Krankie was getting it wrong. Yates was a much better option today that Carvalho. MON is the man!

Give the boss some credit.

12.) 09 Feb 2019 19:36:43
Well done the management team. Mr motivator and the professor are winners!

Long live King Martin!

13.) 09 Feb 2019 19:39:37
The lost pts that we lost under karanka by drawing all the time lol your statement makes no sense scousered

14.) 09 Feb 2019 20:14:58
From Ipswich to when he was walking. Those points.

15.) 09 Feb 2019 20:40:36
Karanka has gone and won't get another job in this country, get over it

16.) 09 Feb 2019 21:22:08
Again, missing the point. The change is the problem, not who was in charge or any dislike of MON (as if). The opportunity of top 6 became even more difficult with the timing of the upheaval at the club. If we are galvanised by MON/RK and achieve a top 6 finish, I will be as ecstatic as every Forest fan. I just have a nagging doubt that we've shot ourselves in the foot. Give me 3 or 4 wins on the bounce and my faith in the owners will be restored. Top 6 at the end of the season and the change was the right decision, anything less and we'll never know if it was a bad one.

17.) 09 Feb 2019 22:18:38
Scouse we were never going up with this squad, its just quantity.
Martin has tried different personell and tactics, today I think he got it right, sometimes not pretty, but we looked strong defensively and when we attacked we did so with purpose.
THE owners have paid a lot of money for something that is nothing more than a brand and is worth absolutely nothing.
We have to be grateful that they have spent silly money buying nothing and then spent millions on players, the one thing they haven't got right was appointing the right manager, personally think they have now.
I've enjoyed my day, couldn't give a toss what the stats say other than forest 2 Brentford 1.
I also said I don't believe in bogey teams and I was confident enough to pre order the bottle of red for my journey home on the train.
Happy day all round痰痰

18.) 09 Feb 2019 22:48:56
I'll drink to that . Agree, promoted no but top 6 in an average year was achievable and is still possible. For the record, you can shove your possession and 'controlling the game' bs, a win is a win and I'll take the 3 points everyday. FTID.

19.) 09 Feb 2019 23:28:23
Victor You order a bottle of red win lose or draw which is why you are all over the place with your pronouncements! 湘丐亢
Get well soon?

20.) 09 Feb 2019 23:32:28
Victor is setting himself up for a bit of bare arsing when AK comes back to haunt him? 丑

21.) 10 Feb 2019 01:01:58
Wins a win,not pretty but who really cares, nice 3 points 厲f79 thought it would be a bottle of Rose to go with those new glasses youve been wearing last few weeks?
Through a straw obviously as those hands must be sore from all that happy clapping enjoy

22.) 10 Feb 2019 02:49:32
Don't think you're off the hook Redinexile. Your Opening post was a load of nonsense bud. Just saying again :P

23.) 10 Feb 2019 11:37:10
I see RIE can not let AK go, he has had a go at others for the same thing, then turns around mentions his idol once again.

24.) 11 Feb 2019 22:35:36
LC when are you going to grow out of short trousers and learn to read?不不不

03 Feb 2019 13:22:14
Brentford up next. If we play 4-4-2 against them and no Carvalho then we will be on the wrong end of a hiding. as they will just play through our lines.

We will have to match them up and get our high tempo passing and closing game going and make sure we take our chances?

Martin and Roy need to get this one right!

1.) 03 Feb 2019 14:38:59
Another defeat I'm afraid. They looked lost when Smith went to Villa but are back playing the football we can't deal with. Happy to be proven wrong but not expecting to be.

2.) 03 Feb 2019 20:16:52
Yes scouse another defeat lol doom and gloom Im afraid doom and gloom no different to what we would of expected off the last man who done a runner

3.) 03 Feb 2019 21:04:30
Better phone the city ground quick then red, best get the tactics right.

4.) 03 Feb 2019 22:31:53
I know lets play the krankie way run forest run 儭 lol

5.) 03 Feb 2019 22:47:52
Well you're the one that believed in miracles at Brum? So all I'm doing is trying to do is to state reality in the hope the penny drops and you do not revert to Victor Meldrew anytime soon!莞

6.) 04 Feb 2019 09:51:41
There seems to be a lot more victor meldrews on here at the minute red its like reading dear Deidre ie example. Dear Deidre 3 weeks ago the love of my life left me i woke up and he done one . Hi have a new man called Martin in my life now its early days but I just cant see it being the same should I give him a chance . Deidries reply the bloke done one get over your self and get over that waste of space and give the new bloke a chance lol

7.) 04 Feb 2019 15:20:00
ooh the irony and hypocrisy of some on here, I'm sure people just forget what they said when we had Karanka come in, so funny.

8.) 04 Feb 2019 17:32:00
Skegs. .just like a Mills and Boon novel

9.) 04 Feb 2019 20:05:52
Well statetheobvios, you can't be accused of irony or hypocrisy,as you don't actually post a topic in the first place?
Just saying

10.) 05 Feb 2019 07:16:27
Most people want to give the new management team a chance. Sadly though it's 20 years too late in my opinion. Another hero(s) who will become a zero(s) aka SP. Hopefully they'll totally prove me wrong!

11.) 05 Feb 2019 14:26:11
Red dog Pearce as never been a zero in my book he still lives and breathes forest till this day he tried management and failed but will always be a forest legend as Martin will be fail or not

02 Feb 2019 21:24:13
Have a little more faith!

When the going gets tough the tough get going!

We've had wretched luck with our centre backs and without a settled pairing you cannot expect consistency.

The successful teams have a settled pattern of play Martins problem is trying to make changes in formation whilst shuffling defenders.

We have got some quality replacements in to take us forward

We can afford to lose one win one for a few games to get it right and then we need a strong finish as this season is going to the wire!

1.) 02 Feb 2019 22:11:42
Well said red, much better than your Shakespeare.
To be honest I wouldn't want the responsibility of trying to shuffle that lot at the back.
Sir Brian always said build from the back,we just seem to be signing anyone in that department as long as they are free.

2.) 03 Feb 2019 02:16:41
RIE when you say we have some quality replacements what do you base that on? To me they look like a couple of freebies that were available because we havent got or didnt want to spend any money.

3.) 03 Feb 2019 06:13:32
Good post red

4.) 03 Feb 2019 09:06:16
Have a little faith in what red? As it stands now tell me anything thats any different from the repeat cycles of recent times.? Dreadful luck with injuries and bizarre signings of foreign freebies. Has beens and never will bes. Weve even gone down the doughty route of letting contracts run down when we could of got money for them, by that I genuinely cant see Osborn resigning in the summer, for that reason we shouldve cashed in. O Neil gets my full backing but the club overall seems to cover the same old ground over and over again. Our back four is woeful. Bonatini is a signing with potential though.

5.) 03 Feb 2019 10:36:05
The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different outcome.

6.) 03 Feb 2019 11:48:55
For sure Chim - couldnt agree more .

7.) 03 Feb 2019 12:22:32
The definition of madness is believing that we will get to the promised land with this bunch of loanees, out of contract players who have tie to the club and nom desire to see it succeed

8.) 03 Feb 2019 17:32:48
When the going gets tough,
The tough get going?
But we aint tough so we wont get going.
The only place that we will be going is down the table.

9.) 03 Feb 2019 20:27:44
"I've got something to tell you. I've got something to say".Roy Keane at training tomorrow!

10.) 04 Feb 2019 03:49:10
Should gave krankie till the end of the season then got oneal in that way he'd have had a full preseason to prep the team

11.) 04 Feb 2019 14:32:22
Dan, he has longer to prep the team for next season if he is here now! Krankie wasn't taking us up this season so the owners gave O'Neil longer. Surely that is obvious?

27 Jan 2019 20:44:33
So YaYa is being touted after aborting his Greek holiday?

Haha this smacks of groundhog day and George Boateng and players well past their sell by date?

Just not what we need for team and club unity!

Jog on over to China me ode China? 湘恫.

1.) 28 Jan 2019 11:04:51
Hope it doesn't happen.

2.) 28 Jan 2019 14:39:38
If he is fit he is a good player but why don't Olympiocas want him?

This season just proves how fickle fans are with short memories.

Season started moaning about the style of football despite not getting beaten. After the 12 game " audition" we were on the march with a very committed, resilient squad. Team selection bar injuries sorted.

Shortcomings in the squad for promotion identified ( remember the missed summer targets? ) . Then "things" were said!

Defenders sorted but not the front end of the team with players that could hit the ground running. Little wonder we are where we are?

Not surprised the players are struggling with the changes.

No idea whether MON can sort it but at least he is exposing the nonsense that went on in December regarding recruitment since the D of F got appointed working with what he has got and freebies?

I find it amusing that now "our own" players AK inherited are suddenly no good . The better performers were all AK's picks and the under performers are all the Greek / Mendes picks?

Everyone is picking on the players and managers when the evidence points elsewhere with poor decision making at the top?

But hey we have been promised an upgraded stadium to deflect attention from an almighty cock up that happened in December!

You only have to look at the teams at the top of the table to realise the opportunity missed this season!

Loans and out of contract players apart we need to stick with what we have and let the manager add the missing parts without playing Greek " swap shop" to keep within FFP!

Onward and Upward is definitely on hold for the foreseeable future.

1.) 21 Apr 2019 06:38:32
Spot on Red, it seems to be happening for the past twenty years, we are either very unlucky or theres people at the club who think they know best and clearly they dont keep putting there opinions in and kissing the owners arses and stirring trouble for the Managers, and if thats the case we are never going to move on or forward. So these past iconic players please retire and come back only on special occasions.

2.) 21 Apr 2019 07:19:06
Its amazing how the same people who werent happy with karankas style of play are happy with what is being churned out Iv said hypocrites.

3.) 21 Apr 2019 07:57:11
Krankie squad back again lol

4.) 21 Apr 2019 08:54:09
The Three Stooges are at it again.
Same old boring posts. Fans are fickle, no more Greeks. Blah blah blah!
We know all this because we have heard it all before!

5.) 21 Apr 2019 09:55:50
And so has the past, move on from it.

6.) 21 Apr 2019 10:08:26
The only people I see keep bringing up Karanka are the ones trying to defend MONs failures. I must have been on planet mars because my view was that on the whole forest fans backed and supported Karanka. I cant say the same for MON. The reason for this is down to performances and results on the pitch - nothing else!

Ive written this somewhere else but I will say it again. you keep saying its not MONs fault he picks bizarre teams. But the fact of the matter is people are paying to watch this garbage and he hasnt shown us anything progressive or deserving of a shot next season.

7.) 21 Apr 2019 09:44:34
Skeg, You spend so much time in the sun on the stella to remember your incorrect 12 match prediction and conversion to the cause prior to the Greeks upsetting the applecart and messing everything up!

8.) 21 Apr 2019 11:31:31
Have you any proof it was the Greeks that upset the apple cart?
Karanka walked, his decision and his decision alone.
We all have to do things in the workplace and take orders,we just get on with it or like karanka walk away.

9.) 21 Apr 2019 13:59:44
Fff79. You have just answered your own question!

Basil get back in your box your insulting comments towards managers is ignorant!

10.) 21 Apr 2019 18:47:52
Curly or Mo?. bromances once finished are I believe difficult to get over especially when you share sangria and paella on a regular basis.
Red it's OK. Move on. Let the past go. Or does he still have your red trousers?

19 Apr 2019 17:21:10
I really don't understand why everyone is getting so hot under the collar over results. Our season went down the pan losing to Villa and MON now has to sort out who he wants for next season so he is bound to chop and change team selection.

Expect to see Bridcutt given a go next and hopefully Carvalho against Boro if MON watches the tape of the first match.

Anyway great result today. Blades on course to pip Cheating Leeds and Villa on top form for the third spot!

1.) 19 Apr 2019 19:37:31
That was Yacob's first game in 11, why?

2.) 19 Apr 2019 20:15:20
Should have been playing him ages ago.

15 Apr 2019 11:56:21
Time to lighten the mood.

The funniest April story I've read is Billy Davies thinking he still has a future as a football manager and that he is being touted as being appointed to a "big club" QPR?

Comical given they had already sent in the Mc Clowns!

Having thought about it maybe both basket cases go together?

1.) 16 Apr 2019 13:45:04
If Davies wants a return to football he will get one somewhere, nothing more certain than that

14 Apr 2019 16:22:27
Before the forum trials and retribution continue on our season just remember since the Villa result the promotion game was up and MON's selections have been about seeing who he really wants and the results although disappointing are secondary to planning for next year.

The real question to be asked lies off the field with the true circumstances as to why AK left the club as this decision defined our season and failure!

AK's 26 games yielded 40 points with the least number of games lost. This form despite the defensive crisis (addressed in January ) meant we were on target for 70 points. The poor results coincided with key defensive injuries but the group were showing resilience, improvement and getting the better of the teams around us which is essential to getting promotion.

At this stage of the season we can now see the folly of the management change.

Using the form guide of the seasons results of the teams above us then the final table points for the teams battling for 5/ 6th place is as follows:
Bristol 77
Villa 72
DC 71
Boro 70
Hull 66
S Wed 65
This shows a minimum of 72 points required for the playoffs which makes the management change decision quite frankly ridiculous. Notwithstanding that Villa and Bristol on current form will probably exceed 72 points what we witnessed under AK an ability to grind out results against our rivals which indicates we would have been in the mix at the death.

What's done is done but the real question still wants an answer? The Greek influence over overseas recruitment has been a disaster and can be traced back to Fawaz final year. While many may question MON's ability to hack it in the Championship unless the overseas recruitment improves then no manager is going to be successful.

This was our season with a proven Championship manager which was blown at Christmas by senior management so someone should be held to account at the end of season review before pointing the finger at the current manager?

Onward and Upward is on hold!

1.) 14 Apr 2019 17:27:57
Cant wait for the hypocrites to answer back on this one red.
Very good post red.

2.) 14 Apr 2019 17:31:28
Maranakis is a successful shipping magnate, you would've thought 'steady as she goes' a better bet than unnecessarily 'rocking the boat'. To then give AK a life jacket, allow him to 'abandon ship' and then steer us towards the rocky shore? I feel seasick thinking about our ruined 'cruise' into the Top 6. Instead we have a runaway tanker of a squad that MON is taking too long to turn away from the rocks. Is there 'mutiny' aboard the 'good ship' Forest? Increase the rum rations I say. Ahoy me heartys.

3.) 14 Apr 2019 17:33:13
In our last 9 games in the league after the Ipswich game Forest lost 5, drew 2, and won 2.

If you count the cup game against Chelsea, Forest lost 6 out of their last games after the Ipswich game.

At that rate you think we could have git near 70 points 不不不不不不不不.

4.) 14 Apr 2019 17:39:13
That's why we say season ended after the Ipswich game. Comfortably in the top 6 and yet AK's demeanour in the post match interview, suggested that all was not right. An understatement to the extreme.

5.) 14 Apr 2019 17:46:11
Along with many on here I too would dearly like to know exactly what happened with Mr Karanka and it has been touched upon previouslybut sadly I doubt the full circumstances will ever be known although I agree morally we as fans may well have the right to know at least the basic facts but sadly this will not happen.

The facts sre there for all to see ie after beating Ipswich we were in 5th place with 34 points from 20 games yet a few short weeks later we had slumped to 10th with a return of 2 more points from the following 5 games including defeats to QPR and Milwall and IF offield interference was the issue then I am afraid Mr Karanka played his part over the ensuing weeks after the Ipswich game and THAT interview.

By this I refer to the fact that on the 29th December following defeat at Milwall he stated

"I arrived to a project as I did in Middlesbrough with two and a half years to try to do the same. I will work my best, be honest and try to put this club up where it belongs."

Yet 13 days later he left the club by mutual consent after asking , by all accounts, for his contract to be terminated a fact which must surely have been in his mind for a while.

This is not intended as an indictment on either party but just a representation of the way I see the situation which did no doubt leave a bitter taste in the mouth although it is clear he felt that his position had become untenable and was without question manifesting itself on the pitch

6.) 14 Apr 2019 17:49:04
Indeed. SDR. So if he had stayed 70 points would have been impossible.

My thinking on Aitor's reasons for leaving were he probably wanted another 10 players in the January transfer window, and the club rightly said no.

He then sulked until he left.

7.) 14 Apr 2019 18:15:16
I suppose it depends which side of the fence you're sitting. To me it's not a coincidence that our form dipped, if the manager's plans had been changed/interfered with or the goal posts moved. If there was no interference, would the results have been different post Ipswich? We'll never know.

8.) 14 Apr 2019 18:37:41
If karanka (he wouldnt) would of put that starting line up out for a game there would of been uproar on here telling us how crap rubbish clueless he is,yet oneill does it and people still try and defend him.
Thats the agenda I was talking about earlier in the season

9.) 14 Apr 2019 18:43:37
In my opinion AK refused to accept the appointment of a DOF (which coincided with him throwing a wobbly) hence he walked.

10.) 14 Apr 2019 19:12:40
Mickn, i'm sure Karanka said it did not bother him working with a DOF.

So from what you said that means he lied.

11.) 14 Apr 2019 19:17:40
I think he left because Marinakis started questioning why he wasnt playing players like Dias and Gon癟alves and Appiah. Then results took a turn and he lost a few players.
I dont think MON will be here come the start of the new season, Ive got a feeling we might get someone new. Hopefully Chris Hughton because I can see him getting sacked if Brighton drop.

12.) 14 Apr 2019 20:01:55
Great post creepy and unbiased as usual.
The squad isn't good enough and top heavy
The whole way the owners are going about on field things needs a new direction

13.) 14 Apr 2019 22:24:24
I dare say one direction would be doing better than this group who are running the on field business/choas/shambles

14.) 15 Apr 2019 11:41:27
LC The facts speak for themselves. The AK form blip coincided with the loss of key defenders which was addressed in Jan. We would have walked 70 points had someone not upset the apple cart behind the scenes!

15.) 15 Apr 2019 12:55:14
RIE, Thais the point of having a squad surely. Aitor brought in about 20 players yet he forgot to get quality back up for the defence.

13 Apr 2019 10:35:00
Let's hope Waguemomma can concentrate on defending for a change instead of flattering to deceive by scoring at the other end?
Can we have Milo back please?

1.) 13 Apr 2019 11:35:55
Let's hope he isn't playing red along with all the other loans.

It's Basils Fawlty Bank Balance style to ridicule the manager! Having hounded Manuel out its little wonder there is no service coming out the kitchen?

It's time Sybil locked him in his bedroom!

Well everybody is having a go at pick and mix with the squad.
The fact is the squad was assembled to play out from the back and be solid in midfield. and playing on the break That was working until our centre halves got injured.
You cannot expect the team to adapt mid season to playing a completely different way with a new manager so stop moaning and just accept that MON is giving everyone a go to see who he wants for next year.
Pre season has started early. We will dump at least 10 in June when contracts run out. The youngsters are not quite ready but we have a core of good pro's upon which to rebuild the squad.
I could not care less if we lose all the remaining matches as individual performances will determine who is up for next season?

Another Greek Tragedy. We should only ever ship players out to Greece and stop bringing them in as they cannot cope with the Championship!

In the interest of balance which British based players in the squad have been as bad or worse as the 30 odd overseas under performers we have recycled?

Not sure what you see in Cummings as a Championship striker. No pace, poor in the air, questionable work rate and hardly prolific in League 1?

He is a million miles away from becoming the next Billy Sharp?

Just goes to show that if the team is set up right then Carvalho will shine. Always thought we were set up better for 3 at the back with our personnel.

Nice to see my banker Shotton doing his usual he will be off before the ende.

Not sure what MON is doing talking to Colback about his contract that's Dourekas' job according to his job description? But then the man is never heard or seen except when wanted to sit on bench!

Stick Lolley on Shotton with instructions to run at him every time he has the ball and Forest will win with Boro finishing with 10 men.

Milosevic should have Britt in his pocket.
