Hopefully Sam Byram will be match ready for the next game and we can start playing a proper right back which will stop a lot of these defence splitting crosses coming in.

We need to work on defending and attacking set pieces and stop Pants getting blocked off as well as being more aggressive to high balls. I sense The Hef will be drafted in to sort this?

1.) 19 Aug 2018 11:41:00
Yep we can moan and deliberate all we like but simple fact is left and right back aren't anywhere near good enough crosses are raining in darikwa completely sold himself for the second goal diving in teams know this and is destroying the back 4

2.) 19 Aug 2018 11:47:30
Pantimolo was a wus missing the cross for their goal. Makes poor decisions. Byram robinson absolute must

3.) 19 Aug 2018 13:21:10
Back four for me. Byram,Heff,Dawson,Robinson. The sooner, the better!

4.) 19 Aug 2018 13:46:10
Dawson not good enough. Keep Fox or Figgy with the Heff.

5.) 19 Aug 2018 14:12:43
Rutland none of our team are protecting pants Wigan players were over him for the goal and no way I would drop fox

6.) 19 Aug 2018 14:31:01
So you would drop the person who’s in the best form for us in defence in fox? πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

7.) 19 Aug 2018 14:32:05
I'd go for Fox and hefele. Definitely put Byram and Robinson as full backs Dereck and Osborn are not quite good enough in those positions.

15 Aug 2018 18:52:45
Cannot believe some of these fan polls wanting us to cash in on Brereton? Utter madnes the lad has not turned 20 yet and will mature into a top striker.

A short loan spell would give him a chance to get into some scoring form and experience but he can force his way intothe team this year.

Redinexile

1.) 15 Aug 2018 20:01:14
We should definitely keep him I reckon.

No harm in him going on loan though providing we have a recall clause or just until January. If we get some injuries then he will be needed.

People forget how good he can be. Remember how he did against Arsenal. When his confidence returns he will be a great player and is going to improve for at least 8 years.

2.) 15 Aug 2018 20:50:00
Not saying I don't agree but a lot of players never realise that potential as well, like Oliver Burke he can't buy a starting place now, so many young players are doing the business at his age for other teams time will tell I guess

3.) 15 Aug 2018 21:12:29
burke played for wba last night and scored so that's his time up.

4.) 15 Aug 2018 22:17:04
Nonsense red biker-it will be more like 8 years and 3 months πŸ€”

5.) 16 Aug 2018 10:37:44
Chopsy, Burke didn't start versus us. He played with the 2nd string players in the league cup. Never got in at Red Bull Leipzig either. shouldn't have left.

If you can't see the potential in lad like Brereton then I am sorry you don't understand football. You only have to look at what he did last season at 18.

Send him on Loan for a season.

6.) 16 Aug 2018 12:45:24
I would prefer to keep BB at the moment, and send him out on loan to ply his trade some more, as he won't - at the moment - get a game with us.

See how he some on in the next two years and if no decent improvement then we need to consider other options. Like another post, some go on to fulfill their potential, but sadly others don't. and we have seen that in the past.

7.) 16 Aug 2018 16:07:01
I'd sell him and invest in someone with experience of the championship someone who can score 15 20 goals a season someone like grabban oh ok maybe not let's keep him then 😁

8.) 17 Aug 2018 20:24:22
Everybody goes on what bbc did last season he played 50+ games 8 goals nobody mentions grant who I think would have been better with us this season send Bereton on loan so he can learn where the goal is

9.) 17 Aug 2018 20:52:48
Is bbc licence fee going up?

11 Aug 2018 23:31:57
We go again with the same starting team.

Matty Cash in as ruthless AK drops Goncalves for not tracking back for the WBA goal!

3-0 please

COYR's.

1.) 12 Aug 2018 00:11:56
3-0 for Forest would be great, but i will take any win.

09 Aug 2018 18:19:44
Window has closed so we have not lost any we value. Looking forward to a couple more loans.

Noticed Leeds for all their huffing and puffing signed no-one else and will be chasing loans to complete their squad and get a few more out. So hopefully they will not be there at the business end and suffer burn out?

Looking like a bit of loan churning at West Brom and Swansea which should weaken them.

Villa and Boro seem to have done some decent business.

Stoke not done too muchso we will find out if Rowett is any good?

Direby have bought sloppy seconds and loans on mates rates so Lambpoo is going to find the going tough.

Let the games begin!

COYR's.

Redinexile

1.) 09 Aug 2018 19:04:56
Looking like a bit of loan churning, so should weaken them, will we not be getting a loan, or loans?

2.) 09 Aug 2018 19:32:32
Derby won’t be as bad as you hope red. Think we need to get our own show on the road before we gloat too much about them

3.) 09 Aug 2018 20:40:14
2star, it will start on Saturday.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 22:58:50
Time for the talking to stop from karanka.
He needs to start winning games and fast, the bottom line is he's won just five of twenty three games for us,enjoyed every minute against WBA and they are a good side, but it's wins that are required, no excuses for not getting three points Saturday, anything less and the pressure will start to mount on him, confident he'll get the three points if we perform anywhere near the level we did Tuesday.

5.) 09 Aug 2018 23:16:09
Yep - them stats ain’t good .

6.) 09 Aug 2018 23:16:18
Ff why are you mentioning results from last season? The players he bought in in January were not match fit and were having to learn Aitor's way of doing things while playing competitive football.

He has had a pre season to get over his ideas without worrying about the Championship, although it is two games and two draws both teams we faced were considered likely to be challenging for at the top six at the start of the season.

There have been times when we looked a possible top six side in both games. Results should only be considered from season, i'm sure that is the way the club sees it as well.

7.) 09 Aug 2018 23:46:26
Stag it's a cop out to think like you mate,it's a result industry and he hasn't been getting those results.
Plenty of managers take over a club and don't spend anything and turn it around.
Bristol won't be anywhere near the playoffs this time around they've lost their best players, but I expect WBA to be up there.
He's got two new teams now and i like the way we played and have said so,but we have to beat the likes of reading at home, it's as simple as that or Mendes will use his replacement, that's football.

8.) 10 Aug 2018 00:17:32
2star. Keogh is still their centre half. No way they will be better than last season. Not gloating just looking at the runners and riders and we are in a big tussle but we look good to be in the pack come May.

9.) 10 Aug 2018 02:20:25
It is a results based industry, and you think WBA will be up there ff. They lost to Bolton at Home. Oh the pressure on their manager. 😁

10.) 10 Aug 2018 08:51:49
Oh, damn the window! I was waiting for a Fawaz tweet or even better a Billy Davies transfer rant about the transfer panel.

Happy days :)

11.) 10 Aug 2018 18:45:23
The phonebox has been dismantled from outside the City Ground, the eye testing equipment replaced, magic carpet mothballed and no-one at the club thinks they can walk on water!

Happy Days indeed

09 Aug 2018 08:41:35
Michael Hefele in the frame from Huddersfield. Just the 6'4'' defender option we need to stop the goals from crosses and getting bullied by the bigger teams?
Happy Days.

Redinexile

1.) 09 Aug 2018 09:44:33
We could get him for Β£350,000. That must be mistake surely.?

2.) 09 Aug 2018 09:55:34
He has struggled with injuries and illnesses hence the price I think.Hope that's all behind him otherwise he may end up being a Hefelump!

3.) 09 Aug 2018 10:39:21
Personally think we don't need him, karanka seems to have gone for quantity over quality in his defensive signings.
Prefer a quality right and left back to stop the crosses coming in in the first place

4.) 09 Aug 2018 10:39:28
Sgetty perhaps a loan with a view to buy would have been a better option then.

5.) 09 Aug 2018 10:49:47
Today is the day of panic buying it's lucky dip day πŸ˜†

6.) 09 Aug 2018 11:05:33
Should have kept Hobbs if we need an injury prone centre half

7.) 09 Aug 2018 11:19:23
One think Aitor has not panicked in any of his buys so far this window.

8.) 09 Aug 2018 12:09:43
Does this mean Worrall off out on loan? We don't need five options at the back and Worrall will be fifth choice now. So much for giving youth a chance.

9.) 09 Aug 2018 12:35:04
RC know it is not our academies youth but there is youth in the team. What would you prefer possible promotion without academy players or stuck in the Championship until the academy players are ready.?

10.) 09 Aug 2018 13:04:50
Hoping he will give us an edge on corners too.

11.) 09 Aug 2018 14:00:43
Hefele would be a solid signing. Cult status at Huddersfield, tall, strong, gives 100% and a great team player. He was brilliant in the Championship, so provided he’s over his injuries, then could be a snip at Β£350k!

12.) 09 Aug 2018 15:34:24
Deal agreed just got to pass medical.
Good solid signing to keep Dawson on his toes. Just need byram now.

13.) 09 Aug 2018 15:56:45
Agree we also need better full backs. Hope we get him as its been quite a while since the days of failed medicals on deadline day!

14.) 09 Aug 2018 23:40:45
At Β£350k has to be the deal of the window when it comes to buying a big Championship stopper? What an upgrade on the Number 5 that started for us last season!
Should start scoring from set pieces from now on once he puts himself about?

Did not go today but listened to the radio commentary.

Colback, Fox and Figs provided the platform for us to play. It seems the new pitch slowed some of the passing and some of our players could not keep up the intensity of Tuesday.

Clement did his homework and harried us in midfield. We had a plan B which is why we have a big squad. The subs made an instant impact and we won the game.

That's the sign of a very good team and manager!

Soudani is our ace in the pack because he has an eye for goal and can play anywhere across the front line which means teams will find it hard to plan against him.

1-0 to AK for playing him in the hole after out wide on Tuesday.

Interesting reviewing the forum comments on a match we won with some writing certain players off already.

The negative comments about Grabban are laughable. John O'Hare won some medals not scoring 20 goals a season but by playing others in for the benefit of the team!

Championship football is won over 46 matches. Forest are unbeaten in 3 which is better than most were predicting.

Better still we are still introducing players into the team who are only going improve us.

I suggest those requiring the instant gratification demanded by the inanity of social media after every game go play with their stations in their bedroom!

Onwards and Upwards Forest are on the March with Aitor's Army

1.) 12 Aug 2018 00:37:47
Your post is good in places, and laughable in others, the pitch did not slow the passing down. I believe the lads had a mixure of feeling the exertion of their previous efforts, but also went into the game over confident and therefore were not rushing to get forward.

There were glimpses of their intent but not often enough. When Cash, and Soudani came on they upped the tempo of the game. Once Soudani scored the team came to life, through out the game they did the dirty side of the game well but up to scoring found it hard to find the impetus get forward often.

There nothing wrong saying someone had a bad game, how is that writing them off. Grabban strolled around the pitch for the most part of the game. I would say the lads used the long ball a bit too often but they dug out a win so sbould be applauded fo that.

2.) 12 Aug 2018 01:05:52
S2T you really were at a different game to me regarding Grabban. I actually agree with FF79 in that in the 4231 means the man up top is on a hiding to nothing if he doesn't get quality service.Worked hard, strong and has good pace.Put in a shift for the team.

3.) 12 Aug 2018 09:00:01
We'd have been better off with Brereton up front or no one up front rather than grabban money wasted on him by what I've seen so far bring back Cummings 😁

4.) 12 Aug 2018 09:03:16
For sure, the system needs work if AK is going to stick with Grabban on his own up top. He does the lone striker role pretty well, but he's no Assombolonga. I'd like to see Soudani starting in a more advanced role, Grabban clearly needs more support, and soudani looks like he has the energy, strength and eye for goal to provide it.

5.) 12 Aug 2018 09:37:44
Soudani is a player that loves playing he's happiest on the pitch and would play him every game he's only going to get better

6.) 12 Aug 2018 10:05:22
Look forward to having the Grabban conversation in a few months skeg when you can tell me I was right ☝🏻

7.) 12 Aug 2018 10:24:54
Perks13 how does one game define a players season? If he had scored a hat trick yesterday that would not have meant he would score 30 goals this season, and a bad game does not mean he is going to have a rubbish season either.

8.) 12 Aug 2018 10:46:22
Redinexile, john o'hare was an entirely player to grabban he played with his back to goal held the ball up and played others in , in an essentially counter attacking team, grab an looks like a poacher to me not entirely suited to the role he’s been given

9.) 12 Aug 2018 11:56:03
Never said it did stags.

10.) 12 Aug 2018 12:37:20
We defo need someone up there with grabbon. Or someone closer to him.
Teams are going to camp out at city ground like reading tried yesterday. So I'd go 352. Against teams we expect will do this.

11.) 12 Aug 2018 22:12:08
Better playing 3-4-3 at home when they park the bus!

Got the back four right and the striker, might go with colback I'm afraid, which imo would be a mistake as he showed a lack of fitness against Bournemouth.
Loley I like and to me would make sense especially in an away game.
You won't be far out.

Any changes to it will be FF799 calls

Why must he? Football is a 14 man game and if AK thinks he is better as an impact player at this stage in his development then so be it. So far he has never dominanted a game for 90 mins so maybe AK knows best?

Brereton is 19 and Worrall is 21 and they have played 53 and 65 senior matches each in struggling teams and are still learning their trade despite winning honours and trophies with England. They are our future as were Lascelles and Darlow who were sold in a fire sale.

Neither are going to be the stand out performers this season to get us our target of promotion but need to develop their game playing week in week out and would benefit from a loan deal. Under no circumstances should they be sold as they will be regulars next year in the Championship or given the chance if we go up where they will have more time to play and improve.

If you want an example of allowing a player to develop then it's Jack Grealish arguably the Championship's best young prospect. He is 22 but now has 137 senior games (100 in the Championship) under his belt, having had a loan season at Notts. Now worth Β£30m and would have been at Spurs if the builders had finished on time.

The smart business is to get them playing a full season on loan to develop them and their value then loan a Premiership striker to complete our Championship squad?

We are not going to win against every team we are expected to beat but we will win more than we lose or draw and we will make progress.

Whether that progress is good enough for some remains to be seen but starting a "feeding frenzy" on the team, manager and individual players every time we concede a goal or miss a chance or lose a game is not going to get us to where we all want to be.

We are not going to be the best team in the league but we are going to be better than most. So sit back and enjoy the ride instead of undermining all the hard work and progress off the pitch by demanding/predicting change of personnel at every twist and turn!

May 2019 is the time to vent the spleen if the collective expectation is not met. Feeding a baying mob never got us anywhere?

PS It's a marathon not a sprint so stop being a keyboard warrior with your attempts at media hype just because we have not got 9 points. After all your other predicton Leeds only won 2-0 against a team they should have beaen 6-0 using social media and punter logic?

It's still the cricket season and today at the test match was very enjoyable unlike the dire performance witnessed at our neighbours on Friday. You are correct the chosen one will be gone from Nottingham within 10 games, one Kevin Nolan!
