Seen critcs of Ben Brereton out in force on some sites. Beyond me why. We are talking about a TEENAGER that is been asked to do the job of an experienced championship striker, playing up top on his own. BB is a long way from the finished article but he will get there for sure imo. Took massive responsability for the penalty and set up Lolley for a great winner. So I would say to the young man, well done keep giving your all for the club and ignore the critics because you have a big future at Forest. One bit of advice though Ben, cut out the diving, your better than that. U REDS.

1.) 15 Apr 2018 14:06:40
For most of the time Ben's nearest link to other players is the 4 or 5 opposition defenders, with no sign of support from his own midfield. He has battled well for someone so young

2.) 15 Apr 2018 17:22:47
And once he’s better than six goals a season he’ll be gone anyway ! That’s life as a lowly championship team I’m afraid !

3.) 15 Apr 2018 17:26:14
If you watch his runs, Brereton makes some great runs and in a team with more quality midfielders with vision and better passing range he would get 5-10 one on one chances a game where as generally he get one or two if any! I think his confidence hasn’t always been there this season but yesterday he put in a great performance and hopefully will get confidence from that. Brereton has huge potential and I still believe if we can bring in the right players next season he could be a 20 goal a season striker for sure. It is out midfield that needs improving. We need a play maker and some more forward thinking box to box players.

4.) 15 Apr 2018 21:57:23
Maybe Cashy could be his foil.Or even give Jorge the chance to step up next term. No need to fork out then. Those boys ARE Forest boys.!

19 Mar 2018 20:38:02
If they can keep it going, very much so. I would add Pants alongside Fig and Foxy though because he as been excellent and is like the captain also. I am delighted for Fox that he as come good though because some of the crazy abuse he as recieved on here was pathetic and his critics have crawled back into the woodwork because of his performances. Well done boys. U REDS.

1.) 19 Mar 2018 20:48:19
I am also pleased for Fox Retford. Worrall gets stick and also Osborn. They are good young players still learning. Fox hasn't got the legs for fullback now but still got it between the ears to read it at CB.

2.) 20 Mar 2018 07:40:05
I've never been a fan of Fox and I will reserve my judgement until next season after he's signed that contract, I wonder if he'll still play with such intensity. My bet is no.

3.) 20 Mar 2018 08:46:48
He has always played well at CB when asked to, it's a LB he has been inconsistent.

4.) 20 Mar 2018 10:58:20
Not this well.

5.) 20 Mar 2018 23:12:57
Got two very good enforcers in front of him and a very good central defender alongside, that might have something to do with it?

6.) 21 Mar 2018 07:57:56
FF79

Does that mean AK is a better manager than all the other managers Fox has played for, for knowing who to bring in, and getting them in.

7.) 21 Mar 2018 09:00:42
No it just means that it's not always the best players on paper that make the best teams.
A few weeks ago not many on here would have wanted a back four of darikwa tobias fox and Osborn.
Because of injuries and illness it was forced on karanka to play them and they've done a good job so far and you don't change a formula that's working.
Fox will face suspension soon and it will be interesting to see if we're solid still with that change.
Personally I think we will be as with Watson and colback they get plenty of cover.
The only downside to playing two holding midfielders is it cuts down the creative options.

8.) 21 Mar 2018 09:06:24
Having those 2 in front has definitely helped our goals against, including the new keeper you don't rate 79(personally I think the keeper has done very well). But he has also performed well in that position under previous managers.

A big win and double over QPR. Brilliant AK and the boys. Give Brum more of the same and I think we might be safe and can enjoy watching Tommo, Lolley and Co do the business under Aitor as he slowly but surely takes us back to the promised land. Wonder what Skegman and FF79 will find to criticise about the latest AK masterplan and all his awful signings. Nice to hear that the bossman made the game from Greece. U REDS.

1.) 24 Feb 2018 22:50:27
Plain to see the results are now coming, this team is now competing. Our manager has now got this team playing with confidence, a massive achievement in any job.
The belief and respect are now starting to filter through.
Totally agree Ret, we are on the rise.

2.) 24 Feb 2018 23:21:23
good post guys gave them loads of TLC today , tommo lolley cash
nice ring to it don't yous think ?

3.) 25 Feb 2018 04:19:29
lets not get to ahead of ourselves, it was a fantastic win and more important the performance, but we were still shaky at the back, so let's just give it another 2 or 3 games, defo buzzing for the Birmingham game tho, also whatever karanka said to them at half time on Tuesday looks like its worked wonders attacking wise.

4.) 25 Feb 2018 13:50:17
85

I do not think anyone is getting ahead of themselves, they are just buoyant by a good display against a team in a similar position in the league to ourselves.

It is all very well doing well against the likes of Wolves but if we can not follow it up against teams like Qpr then it is one step forward, and one step back.

5.) 25 Feb 2018 15:17:48
Robertson was the King, if you don't think anyone is getting ahead of themselves then take a look at the first post on the "other posts" page!😂

6.) 25 Feb 2018 17:03:51
Why not go for winning every game, including the play off final? We can all dream. .😂

7.) 25 Feb 2018 19:05:31
Unlikely, however you only have to see what Keano done at Sunderland.

8.) 26 Feb 2018 11:58:10
Our initial target should be to finish above Dirty Leeds who are still deluding themselves that they will reach the playoffs.
If we put Direby away too then the wheels will come off their bus and drop out the play offs!
Job done then anything else is a bonus?

11 Feb 2018 15:30:57
Dont usually do the rumour stuff but I have it from a good source AK is hoping to bring in a free agent central defender early this week. No name but thirty two years old released by Benfica. If he is only average I would have him in in front of Mancienne and Worral. Starting to wish we had mugged Burnley for twelve million now like they did us with Darikwa. That buys some decent defenders at this level to go with Figueiredo and Fuentes.

Retford Red

1.) 11 Feb 2018 16:02:57
Well that contradicts what the man himself has said. Karanka has stated that the transfer business has finished.

Spot on RedRascal on young Ben. He will be a big player for us given time. What sort of ply maker do think we need, interior or exterior. Sorry mate, couldn't help myself with that one. U REDS.

15 Apr 2018 17:17:02
Scored one, maade one in a two one victory and still gets stick from some so called Forest fans. Yes, young Brereton must wonder what else he can do. Eighteen in the fifth toughest league against seasoned pros who also outnumber the lad two to one because of our one up front system. He was almost ruined by Warburton out wide and to much is expected of him now by AK. A couple of years down the line this youngster will be very close to the real deal if he is managed properly, ie selected games and impact sub. It is a real cheap shot to blame Ben for Forests current goalscoring woes. Perhaps looking back, if Warburton had spent the two million plus much better than he wasted on Murphy and another million on Cummings we would not have been in this mess and blaming a teenager. Stick with it BB and take no notice of the critics, I look forward to you making them eat there words in the not to distant future. And as a man in agreen sweatshirt would have said, well done young man.

Retford Red

1.) 15 Apr 2018 17:58:21
Do you think Murphy will play for us again?😐

2.) 15 Apr 2018 18:11:47
Hope not. Warburton. Can pay for his one way ticket back to Rogie land . Ayup Rogie why don’t you come over and pick him up?

08 Apr 2018 21:34:04
Despite the terible twins and prophets of doom, Skegs and F79, AK will keep us up and will make us a force to be reckoned with for next season. Middlesborough fans swear by the man and after he as had a proper transfer window and shipped out if possible the dross, much of which Warburton is responsible for, eg, poor 34 year old given 4 year contract, you couldn't make it up, Forest will start to make progress as he did at Boro. It will happen, but stay positive you Reds, we would have been in the bottom three now if the banker was still in charge.

Retford Red

1.) 08 Apr 2018 22:59:48
Of course we'll stay up, but not for anything Karanka has done,if we sign the loans for next season then we're in trouble.

Goalkeeper whose six foot eight and won't catch the ball in his area.
Collback just doing the same as Watson.
Tomlin talks too much and eats too much.
Fuentes who?
Iranian? Injured
Dowell played on the wing?
Geddy on a contract hardly kicked a ball.

We don't score week in or out and yet he picks the same players mainly.
Admire your confidence in what has so far been a disatoroys appointment.
But never mind give him say 20 mill and he can't fail?

What can possibly go wrong by sticking with him after all he's shown us what to expect next season?
Onwards and upwards?

2.) 09 Apr 2018 09:59:05
Lol Retford, we're just stating the obvious. over the last 4-5 games you called Warburton, but this bloke has been no better. so far with his 8 new players, they still can't defend corners or set pieces and now they can't score goals. sorry to state the obvious, but points on the board please.

3.) 09 Apr 2018 10:47:47
Too right "brother" 😂
Points starting tomorow, drop colback tomlin vellios and darikwa for starters and put some fresh legs in.
Have a go with pace for a change.
You never know we could stand a chance of winning.

4.) 09 Apr 2018 10:49:56
Many of our managers / owners stretching back to clough seem to think you can sell prolific strikers and replace them with has beens won’t be’s or never beens. Why can’t we put the ball in the net ? Because our strikers are hopeless. Take a look at Rob Earnshaws portfolio for forest , that’s why we’ve been nowhere since them days. To be fair a fit fryatt and assombalonga, would I think have done the business, in between those too and Earnshaw we struggled because we signed has beens under Wolley.

As much as we’d love a fairytale story for Walker and Brereton and looks highly unlikely at the minute, it’s particularly heartwarming when a great striker comes from the academy, watching them Dispatch teams week in week out is a great thing to spectate. It might still happen but it’s not likely in the near future.

So here is the problem, as many say on here you are never going to keep a clean sheet every week, warburton definitely wasn’t. So WTF was he doing signing Murphy and thinking Walker and Brereton could do a job? More pointedly WTF was Karanka doing making all those signings and not addressing The blindingly obvious truth that had hurt our eyes for half a season. Nothing to choose between either of the clowns and once again we just can’t get a manager to do what is needed.

Sorry Billy haters but he’s the only man to get a tune out of this club for 2 decades now. Time we at least credited him with that. Relegation Certs to playoffs in one season spending 6mil on Gunter, Anderson, blackstock, radi, camp adebola and McGoldrick. Not to mention McCleary, chambers, Morgan, Mcgugan, Cohen and Lynch developing into great championship footballers.

The longer this charade goes on the harder it is to understand how some folk persist in questioning his ability to do something out of nothing. Nobody since has created a solid defence with goals and victories. Just look at the state we’re in, yes we look good behind the scenes now, but manager after manager failing in the basics of building a solid team. I’m not turning on AK yet but he’s not filling me with joy and hope at the minute.

5.) 09 Apr 2018 11:16:28
We havn't replace lansbury he scored plenty every season, now we have no goalscorer in midfield either, which just makes scoring an even bigger problem when the strikers are firing blanks.
Lansburys knew how to score from set pieces and play a set piece to score from, now all we've got is an overweight tomlin, who does the odd thing.

6.) 09 Apr 2018 13:43:53
Great post 2Star. I think everyone knows the currency needed to get out of the Championship is having a striker that can score 20 plus goals. Britt could have been that player, but he wasn't around long enough, taking into account his injury. Before him, we really are going back to Earnshaw! I also agree with you on Billy Davies. He will forever be remembered for his unfinished business, but on the football side, his teams were well drilled, organised, and got results. If only ND had backed him in his first spell, in the transfer window, I'm convinced we would have gone up that year. Like it or not, he's been our most successful manager in modern times. Even when losing, he'd throw everything at it to try and get a result.

7.) 09 Apr 2018 15:24:36
2Star a very good post and also very true.
Billy the King got so close.
Has AK the tools to get Forest Up next season?
Well that’s questionable, a major shake up is needed.
Marinakis will not put up with performances of late.

8.) 09 Apr 2018 15:24:37
FF79, nailed it with Lansbury mate, no striker and now no goals from Midfield.
Murdoch, it was very daft to think the club was anything more than Bd making something from nothing. Without him we went straight back to relegation fodder , what does that tell you.

9.) 09 Apr 2018 19:41:25
Can we please desist from king billy carry on yes he was just ok for us but behined the scenes different story if he was that good a manager he would be with onther club by now let's all move on pretty please😕

10.) 09 Apr 2018 20:11:50
Not easy to move on when there is no progress. I have personally abstained from the using he word King. Sad thing is though for younger than 35 it’s probably the best they’ve seen - pretty scary that don’t you think?

11.) 09 Apr 2018 20:51:37
2Star, the one thing Billy Davies was good at was motivating those players. It was just an average team, but he got them to perform week in week out. Ironically, I only ever thought BD was the man to get us out of the championship. We haven't seen any success since he left, and he came the closest to getting us promoted.

12.) 09 Apr 2018 21:05:17
It was Dave Bassett 2 star that was a great season with donk and Campbell.
Frank Clark before that with collymore.

It was good under paul Hart until Doughty let our three best players go for nothing and then didn't back him in the summer window.
That side was very close with a couple of additions.
But your right only Billy since has given us something to cheer about

13.) 09 Apr 2018 21:15:39
Never mind the King that was Billy. I can remember the Joker "Roy" Kinnear that nearly took us to division 4.AK has a respect for our history unlike the Joker. Let's keep things in perspective eh. One window was never going to be enough for Karanka. He will keep us up . Next season will be his starting point. The unadulterated mess that we found ourselves in was a long time in the making. We absolutely have to have a sustained period of stability

14.) 09 Apr 2018 21:33:23
Have you seen the amount of managers marinakis has sacked in Greece?even though they keep winning the league.
Karanka will have to be in the top six in the first half of next season or he'll be toasted like the breadmans.
That's your stability,he wants a return on his investment fast and the only place to get it is the premiership,so there will be no mid table finish talked about next season ,it's promotion or out for karanka

15.) 09 Apr 2018 21:53:25
Yes - Basset great season - kids born after 1990 have seen very few good times down at the CG. To be fair the promotion from league one will live long in the memory , but to us old timers we should never ever have ended up there . Dreadful days

02 Apr 2018 17:00:58
To nffc notts forest. No such club mate. How many letter s in Nottingham do you count. Exactly, none. Forest is fine, but Notts Forest is a big no no. End of lesson.

The sheep if they're honest, which they're not, must feel embarrassed and ashamed even for making up this cock and bull story to get the Cardiff game called off because of a few injuries. I don't like Warnock, but just for once agree that it is a disgrace.

let's hope the EFL grow a pair and make an example of the cheating sheep for the sake of football. The AK revolution must really have got them rattled plus the annual meltdown and the club is having a serious nervous breakdown. What a crying shame. U REDS.

I agree Warnock was right on thios occasion, the match should not have been cancelled. I understand the snow was piled up so a photograph could be taken. I live in Derbyshire and travelled to Milton Keynes on Sunday morning all the roads were clear even the minor ones.

Tomorrow, I would be tempted to go 4411 with Smith, Lichaj, Worrall, Fox, Pinnilos, Pereira, Mancienne, Cohen, Traore, Clough, Brereton. Subs McCormack, Osbourne, Cash, Caryol, Assambalonga, Mills, Evtimov. Pereira and Traore both named as fullbacks but I think both are good at getting forward but still have that defensive side when needed. Gboly Ariyibi would be my wild card pick as what I have seen of him he looks very good. And it could be Vaughan instead of either Cash or Caryol if you need to go for a stronger defensive squad.

If Forest loose at Brum I think Jack Lester will be put in charge as caretaker. I think he would do a good job and even land it full time. Would make sense as the queue for new manager won't be very long I fear. He knows and values the youngsters and would provide the team with shape and motivation.

So in Warburton you trust. Why don't I believe you. He is not fit to lace Dougie Freedmans bootlaces. The man who had no money to spend, could only bring in frees or loans but still kept us up. This man who you trust as already spent millions on players who are not up to it, fact.

Another Forest fan told me he had seen a report saying Villa had him on £52,000 a week. Even if we are only paying half of that it seems crazy to have him as a bench warmer with his record.
