Dont usually do the rumour stuff but I have it from a good source AK is hoping to bring in a free agent central defender early this week. No name but thirty two years old released by Benfica. If he is only average I would have him in in front of Mancienne and Worral. Starting to wish we had mugged Burnley for twelve million now like they did us with Darikwa. That buys some decent defenders at this level to go with Figueiredo and Fuentes.

1.) 11 Feb 2018 16:02:57
Well that contradicts what the man himself has said. Karanka has stated that the transfer business has finished.

10 Feb 2018 21:32:54
Is there something in the modern coaching manual that reads, on no account do you play with two up front? All our recent managers have played with a solitary striker, WHY. Away probably but not at home. Goals win games and we always seem to isolate the striker. How did Ferguson win so much, believe it or not, 442. What a crying shame its no longer seen as the fashionable way to WIN games.

1.) 10 Feb 2018 22:36:18
When he was real Madrid assistant they played three up.
So baffled as to why he persists with one up,especially when you see it's Not working.
Another real Madrid assistant trying to play manager?
Clement has had more than enough chances and failed.

2.) 10 Feb 2018 22:43:23
They're so scared of losing and bizarrely they end up losing. Makes no sense unless your midfield are goal scoring machines. Note, not at Forest.๐Ÿ˜

3.) 10 Feb 2018 22:43:49
It was screaming out for 2 up today, Brereton and Vellios or Murphy.

4.) 10 Feb 2018 23:41:04
You can screen all you like he won't do it even if we were 4 nil down .
Says it all
One up top ,That's yet lot and that all he's got.
Not much on the locker I'm afraid.

5.) 11 Feb 2018 10:01:28
At least Warbo played 2 up top. .
Errrrm. actually, No, he didnโ€™t.

6.) 11 Feb 2018 10:57:28
No he didn't tap but always had 2 strikers on the pitch the idea being the wide striker came in to support the lone ranger.
What Karanka is serving up is far worst than anything warbo did.
He saved us from relegation Karanka will get us relegated

7.) 11 Feb 2018 10:44:40
Well what is there to say about our beloved club?
In a nutshell I think another relegation battle is afoot.
No passion no balls from the squad.
Krankie putting out a team who lost to Preston.
Lurch in goal!
We are yet again looking towards division 1 if we keep on performing like we have been.

These formations in modern football are OK if you have the players who are capable have pace and are skillful etc.
Krankie please please go back to basics and play 442.
Get rid of Manc to the bench and demote him of his captaincy.... Again no balls no passion or spirit.... His get up and go left town ages ago.
I wanted Krankie to to be successful but I'm having doubts on how he operates and thinks.

Should of kept Brazil in charge then in the summer go for a decent English manager.
If we lose to Burton I believe it will down down down with the way these players are at present... No confidence no Guile no balls.

10 Feb 2018 20:48:29
AK, why oh why did you select the worst back four in the championship when you have got better potions now. Nelson moves faster on his column than this lot. Pantillimon was an improvement but he would need to be superman to get a clean sheet in behind Mancienne and Co. Dowell was awful again, and along with Osborne should be left out, and as for MOM it gets dafter. If Matty Cash was the only youngster to keep his place I wouldn't be sorry in the slightest. Messi would not score in this set up never mind Vellios. I urge AK to ditch the dross now and bring in the new boys against Burton. Even if not fully fit they must be better than what we are seeing.

Retford Red

1.) 10 Feb 2018 21:36:11
Iโ€™m not even convinced by Cash either. For me, he is not a winger/right sided player - he is a central midfield player probably playing at the top of the diamond. Worrall needs a rest. He is starting to look like the rabbit in the headlights when he gets the ball at his feet and poor Manciene needs to get away from football for a while, his confidence is in the floor. Dowell is showing what he is, a naive young footballer trying to learn his trade in a very tough environment, and he to panics when pressured. Osborne, for all his energy also panics under pressure and gives the ball away too cheaply.
I canโ€™t wait to see the team play with all the new signings who all have lots of experience which will help us get to the 55 points we will need for safety.

2.) 10 Feb 2018 21:44:33
Billy would not have lost to Hull!

End off.

08 Jan 2018 20:04:52
Led to believe it was Heckingbottom, Clough or Poyet. So very pleased Aitor Karanka as been given the job of taking us back to the big league, no disrespect to those three. He was the best candidate imo and we must give the man our total support and a big welcome on Saturday. Boro fans speak well of him unlike Rangers thoughts on our last appointment. So well done Forest on a very good choice. Onwards and upwards. COYR.

Retford Red

1.) 08 Jan 2018 21:54:35
Great appointment.

Those worried about attack vs defence, the year Boro went up they had 8th best attack in division and best defence. To put that into perspective they scored 20 more goals than us that season and only 9 less than the leagues top scoring team.

I expect us to be resolute defensively but with more match winners in the side when we attack.

Genuinely very excited about the next chapter under the current owners. MW did a solid job keeping us up last year and brought the fans back into the ground with renewed optimism. We should thank him for that but in football there are levels and we have just appointed the real deal in Karanka!

2.) 08 Jan 2018 23:51:03
Boring, predictable appointment. He has exactly the qualities you lot didn't like about Dougie Freedman. Whether he brings success or not, I don't want to watch paint dry. Not A HAPPY BUNNY HERE!

3.) 09 Jan 2018 00:03:31
Great appointment

4.) 09 Jan 2018 07:03:14
Red cyclist, it doesnโ€™t surprise me that this hasnโ€™t ticked everyoneโ€™s box. Who would you have preferred pal?

7.) 09 Jan 2018 13:19:07

Jose mourihno or maybe pep or klopp!
Please don't say you of the Warburton mould?
If you are a real fan get behind forest and katanga!
I and many here though dougie did an awesome job.
If you don't like get on your bike!

13.) 09 Jan 2018 23:37:13

I'd have preferred Clough or Brazil until the end of the season at least. We aren't likely getting promoted this season UNLESS something special happens - like the Arsenal game. That special thing is possible with the players on side and Brazil clearly had that. Also Brazil could have continued to develop the players.

If we had got promoted then great. If not we could appoint someone else and reinstate Brazil to his old job. No lose situation.

29 Jul 2017 18:44:59
I really hope MW now acknowledges what a very good player Vellios is for Forest. He was shut out last season when he deserved a chance but he showed a good attitude and with five goals already looks excellent. Worries me little when MW is asked about his contribution he tends to then speak about the team rather than the individual. Good player who could come good given the opportunity and save Forest a fortune. COYR.

Retford Red

1.) 29 Jul 2017 22:59:05
While I totally agree with you, think MW sees him as third or fourth choice striker.

2.) 29 Jul 2017 23:07:55
Thoroughly agree Retford I'm a big fan of Vellious, great attitude, strong, skilful, works hard for the team, good finisher and on fire atm with direct competition from the likes of Murphy and Brereton! I hope Warbo realises what a gem he has on his playing staff!

3.) 30 Jul 2017 01:01:52
i really hope vellios gets played aswel but as he brought cummings in himself i have an awful feeling vellios will be behind him unless he gets himself into a position where he can't be left out.

4.) 30 Jul 2017 07:33:54
Surely from preseason Vellios is in a position that he cannot be left out of the starting 11.

5.) 30 Jul 2017 07:54:08
Cummings looks like a busy and hard working player. We will need to wait and see for the rest won't we. I'm not seeing a better striker than vellios though are you?

6.) 30 Jul 2017 08:00:02
Murphy will start and Vellios will be in the bench along with Cummings. In Vellios and Cummings, MW has two very different options to come on and change a game if needed. My concern is that he hasn't got that same flexibility in midfield. We need to bring in 1 or 2 before Friday.

7.) 30 Jul 2017 10:38:19
Does anyone else think that MW may be doing it to wind him up a bit and make him goal hungry? I remember we did it with Kris Commons a few years ago, was playing well then suddenly got dropped, it wound him up and when he came back in to the team he was on fire.

8.) 30 Jul 2017 10:47:24
I think Vellios will start. I'm not sure that MW will be giving away his starting lineups prior to the start of the season. I can see the two Scottish lads playing either side of him up top vs Millwall.

Best news since Fawas did one, Skegman leaving his armchair and going to Boston. What have they done to deserve that. Shame he will miss the great revival under AK but I think we will just about get by. U REDS.

Retford lol Iโ€™m sitting here in my armchair waiting for this great revival Iโ€™m also sitting in my armchair waiting for 6 numbers to come up on the lottery think I have more chance of that happening ๐Ÿ˜€

2.) 21 Feb 2018 16:07:46
You really do need to get out more. I realise it's winter and in places like Skeggy the Sad Syndrome its hard until Spring. But really cheer up the club is in a better place than its been since the days of donkeys on the beach?

3.) 21 Feb 2018 16:58:23
You're all swallowing the bait. Skegs won't leave he loves the banter and is a red thro and thro.

4.) 21 Feb 2018 17:03:34
when Karanka shows me something to be happy about then I will be happy itโ€™s that simple some fans come on here like heโ€™s gods gift of a manager lol 5 points from 21 a point each against 2 bottom clubs and weโ€™re singing and dancing about get a grip please .im entitled to my opinion like anyone else on here and if Karanka does turn things around I will be the first to apologise and say well done not a problem but Iโ€™m not going to sit here and say heโ€™s doing a good job when the points on the board speak facts at the minute Karanka is no better than the Wally with the Brolley in fact the points say heโ€™s useless letโ€™s see if he can prove me wrong Iโ€™m quite happy to be proved wrong but for now heโ€™s utter garbage

21 Feb 2018 11:30:11
Hope we can get Lee Tomlin on a permanent deal at the end of the season, one of the best footballers to play for the Reds for years. Played just behind the striker he will score and be our main playmaker. Thought the three at the back of Pantilimon, Figueiredo and Foxy were very good. When we get a pair of proper fullbacks in with those three we will be much more solid than we have been for a long time. Watson and Colback add some protection for the back four and steel i'm midfield. Lolley looks the part and will only get better. Why AK plays Dowell is a puzzle, he as scored some good goals but when you need scrappers as we do now, he gives the team very little. Really enjoyed the second half effort put in by both the players and the City Ground faithful. Long time since I could say that. U REDS.

Retford Red

1.) 21 Feb 2018 18:52:39
Totally agree Retford.I noticed a left back deemed surplus to requirements notched for Barnsley. Warbo ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

18 Feb 2018 20:19:31
Robbo, read the post properly. It praises Danny Fox for past and present games at centre back for Forest not at full back. It is clearly his best position. He his more than capable of doing a good job there as he did v Burton with a good partner like Figueiredo. He as taken a lot of abuse and critisism on here most of it unfairly. I recall the usual experts slagging Pantillimon off because of a mistake on his debut, and guess what, he is now proving our experts wrong just as Foxy did on Saturday. Well done DF and CP. U REDS.

Retford Red

1.) 18 Feb 2018 20:39:45
Word of caution on fox and our defensive play, Burton have only scored 8 goals at home all season.
Let's see how it pans out over the next few games?

2.) 19 Feb 2018 08:04:03
Haha you miserable git! Sadly though youโ€™re right my relief at not losing has now turned to facing up to the reality of how a point at Burton might not represent turning a corner. Had we have scored just one goal Iโ€™d be feeling it a bit. It is progress no doubt, Iโ€™m not sold that we can use this game as the point where we will turn the corner. I hope we are all on here tomorrow night rejoicing that we did indeed stop the rot at Burton

3.) 19 Feb 2018 08:07:36
Absolutely. feel a little for Worrall and Mancienne when you look at the midfield in front of them for most of the season. With Watson and Colback, they are bound to look better!!!!

4.) 19 Feb 2018 08:38:01
Looking forward to seeing the new team tomorow 2 star.
It's hard to tell from radio, much prefer to see it in the flesh.
It's a very winnable game so we shall see if we've turned a corner?
My concern will be how we score a goal?
If he sticks with Watson and colback for home games as well where's the creativity coming from?
Need bit of pace in that 10 role someone who can get up and support murphys flicks and run on to them?
At the minute it might be worth trying Osborn there again,he's the only one with the engine to do it.

5.) 19 Feb 2018 08:50:21
I know what you mean , I have my tickets in upper clough K and from up there you really can see how bad we are

6.) 19 Feb 2018 08:52:46
I know we all hate him but the player I think fits your description would be Kris Commons, can Tomlin not fulfill? I know youโ€™re not struck on him but weโ€™ve seen a few telly tubbies flourish down by the Trent ?

7.) 19 Feb 2018 09:06:52
I'm on the wall in H and it's a great view with no one in front so can sit in comfort all game.
Think managers should watch the game from the stands like big sam,you can see the game so much better

8.) 19 Feb 2018 09:14:37
A fit tomlin would be fine but he's at walking pace and this league finds unfit players out.
Warnock no mug and if he's tried everything to get him fit without success, then that tells me the player isn't trying hard enough to watch his weight and fitness.

9.) 19 Feb 2018 09:19:15
How many times have you seen a goal (against obviously) unfolding several passes before it happens ? Sometimes itโ€™s like looking into a crystal ball ๐Ÿ”ฎ

10.) 19 Feb 2018 09:23:15
Fox hasn't become a world beater overnight just because he had a good game against Burton. Yes his best position is at CB but this is only because he's too slow mentally and physically to play in the position he's applied his trade for most of his career. Surely we can do better than that. Also, I don't agree with signing Dawson in the summer, he's also not been up to speed for at least 2 seasons now, I really don't understand the intention with that one.

11.) 19 Feb 2018 10:45:19
This won't be popular but Dowell comes back into starting 11 for me.

12.) 19 Feb 2018 11:19:54
Perks that wouldn't surprise me either, tomlin won't play two games in 3 days never mind 3 in 7
Other than Osborn it's will have to be Dowell if we intend to win it.
The only other player I've always wanted to see played in that role is McKay he has that bit of trickery and can at least score.

13.) 19 Feb 2018 11:22:37
Perks, because he has a goal in him?

14.) 19 Feb 2018 12:26:04
Yes. Every team needs a creative player in it and he has an eye for goal. Also a threat from free kicks.I know he goes missing at times and can have games where he gives the ball away a lot but we need a goal or 2 to get the crowd going.I would be less likely to play him in away games.
79 I wouldn't be against McKay playing that role either as he can pick a pass and run at teams. As you say it would be a lot to ask of Tomlin but I'd have him on the bench.Murphy up top with Lolley one side and Cash/Osborn the other.Big call to be made at full back positions.

15.) 19 Feb 2018 14:32:52
Either McKay or Dowell with the acknowledgment that they have a free reign. Surely when you have other disciplined solid players like guediora, Colback and Watson a luxury player can be accommodated?
Mancienne, Tobias, Fox, the Spaniard (๐Ÿค”)
Cash Watson, Colback
lolLey, Tomlin or Mckay
Surely there is a goal there ?

16.) 19 Feb 2018 14:45:19
Yes there is 2star pants lol ๐Ÿ˜€

17.) 19 Feb 2018 14:57:39
LolLey, Tomlin, Dowell or Mckay

18.) 19 Feb 2018 15:11:37
Skeg , FF79 started the pants thing, heโ€™s rather funny when the mood takes him!

19.) 19 Feb 2018 15:44:51
Ff79 funny never heโ€™s just as miserable as me at the minute maybe a good performance tomorrow night and 3 points might cheer us all up a bit but Iโ€™m hoping for reading to score a few or at least 1 home goal then we might win โ˜๏ธ

20.) 19 Feb 2018 16:39:07
Lol that emoji (๐Ÿ–•) is ridiculous, ten out of ten in getting it recognised as a clear symbol of Karanka the chosen one ๐Ÿ˜‚, youโ€™ve had great success there.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿคฉ well?

21.) 19 Feb 2018 17:05:20
Well you called that one right skeggs.
Let's hope I've got something to cheer about tomorrow night.
Long time since I've celebrated the train journey home with a bottle of red in some costa coffee mug.๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿท๐Ÿท

22.) 19 Feb 2018 22:57:00
Just rumbled who FF79 actually is by his seat on the wall in H Upper BC!
Humpty Dumpty.

Enjoy the view sat on the wall but when you fall remember all the reds stewards and ambulance men cannot put Humpty together again?

So be a good egg and cheer up!

23.) 19 Feb 2018 23:20:15
I'll let you know how were doing red at half time.
Just so long as I don't fall off the wall.
If it's not working well for tomlin I'll swap places with him,he'd look the part on the wall.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

24.) 20 Feb 2018 01:29:01
If Tomlin's on the bench make sure he sits in the middle ๐Ÿ˜‚

18 Feb 2018 17:11:54
Delighted for Danny Fox as made a few keyboard experts on here look stupid with an outstanding show at centre half along with a fine debut from Figueirido. He lacks a bit of pace at full back and is clearly a better central defender were he as never let us down. I hope AK gives this new partnership a chance as it is better than the JW and MM pairing. With Fuentes in at left back and wipe out Eric back after suspension we might just have a back four capable of delivering this season. Not impressed with Darikwa but would be more than happy if he comes good and proves me wrong. U REDS.

Retford Red

1.) 18 Feb 2018 17:55:50
One good game makes Fox brilliant? Really, what about all the bad games?

2.) 18 Feb 2018 18:18:04
I am delighted Danny Fox was playing CB yesterday. He isn't and never has been a LB.
However with our recent recruitment policy being so poor , especially in the defensive areas, he was a square peg in a round hole. I believe he would have done a basic but reasonable job at LB if he had a half decent left sided midfielder in front of him.
He has had McKay and Dowell so no wonder he has looked exposed.
I hope Fuentes proves his fitness very soon so Fox can stay in a position he should be playing in.
The same applies to whoever plays upfront alone. Without support they look lost.

3.) 18 Feb 2018 21:12:52

Agreed DF has had a lot of undeserved flak since being at the club but despite being out of the picture under a number of managers he has always been the consummate professional. I think some of this goes back to when he joined us having previously opting to move elsewhere earlier in his career when we first tried to sign him.

Pearce switched him to centre back the pre-season he took over and Fox has always looked solid when he has been asked to stand in.

The role of full backs has changed over his later career and given some of the players we put out wide left who cannot track back a world class full back would struggle in our team?

Hope he gets a new contract as he is just the sort of strong character this club needs.

4.) 19 Feb 2018 08:54:09
Pearce would have struggled to be Pearce with any of our current lot in front of him. And we thought Woan and Parker were lazy!

Tomorrow, I would be tempted to go 4411 with Smith, Lichaj, Worrall, Fox, Pinnilos, Pereira, Mancienne, Cohen, Traore, Clough, Brereton. Subs McCormack, Osbourne, Cash, Caryol, Assambalonga, Mills, Evtimov. Pereira and Traore both named as fullbacks but I think both are good at getting forward but still have that defensive side when needed. Gboly Ariyibi would be my wild card pick as what I have seen of him he looks very good. And it could be Vaughan instead of either Cash or Caryol if you need to go for a stronger defensive squad.

If Forest loose at Brum I think Jack Lester will be put in charge as caretaker. I think he would do a good job and even land it full time. Would make sense as the queue for new manager won't be very long I fear. He knows and values the youngsters and would provide the team with shape and motivation.

So in Warburton you trust. Why don't I believe you. He is not fit to lace Dougie Freedmans bootlaces. The man who had no money to spend, could only bring in frees or loans but still kept us up. This man who you trust as already spent millions on players who are not up to it, fact.

Another Forest fan told me he had seen a report saying Villa had him on ยฃ52,000 a week. Even if we are only paying half of that it seems crazy to have him as a bench warmer with his record.
