Paul Taylor of the Athletic says we are to be informed we are in breach of FFP tomorrow. He's not usually wrong. ???.

50 quid fine ?.

2.) 15 Jan 2024 12:12:55
Wrist slap, after appeal. ?.

3.) 15 Jan 2024 12:23:23
I d add quite a few noughts to that Skegs if I were you mate! And that’s if we are lucky. It’s loss of points that will kill us…….

4.) 16 Jan 2024 01:50:21
“The name of the club doesn't matter. Every club should be treated equally under the rules set out.

“But the elephant in the room isn't being addressed. 115 charges, zero action. Why? ”.

5.) 16 Jan 2024 09:32:22
There's a cult developing In this fanbase. Some fans am have fallen for the clueless and wreckless owners nonesense about ambition while breaking rules he voted to make last year at the long term expenses of the club. Thankgod for ffp to protect the long term future of clubs from bad ownership. Show some real ambition Instead of being nodding dogs to mariankiss, he sells anyone good buys a team for the money he gets and says that ambition, the ground was announced five years ago nothing, we are a laughing stock under him. Get these out while we're prem and hope for proper owners from USA or suadi.

6.) 16 Jan 2024 18:27:39
My nonsense-meter is twitching!

Owners take a calculated risk to stay in the Prem. Get accused of being wreckless when it works. Fans like being in the Prem are called members of a cult.

The solution: Get owners like the ones at Man United (Glazers? ) or Man city (109 charges and run a country where women celebrate being ALLOWED to drive in 2018),

Forstphil, what team do you support?

7.) 16 Jan 2024 22:23:12

I don't usually pay much credence to the comments of Jamie Carragher aka Spit the Punk Dog, but the NEP s reported conversation between him and SC is very interesting and worth a read. It's a good summation of SCs "nightmare"situation under Marinkinakos ( and presumably that situation will be continued under Nunez).
It would appear that SC had no idea of what players ( and in what numbers) would be arriving at the club, despite his oft repeated mantra that he, the owner and the recruitment team were all supposedly "reading off the same page"?
It might be a rare glimpse behind the scenes at our beloved club before the media gag is imposed as part of the terms of SCs payoff.

Tough to see SC go and we have to remain positive about Nuno. Did a great job with Wolves so just got to see how the City ground welcomes him saturday.

Transfers wise, realistically, we sell McKenna and Worrall unless they are given a chance by Nuno. I think we cancel the loans for Montiel, Tavares, santos and origi - they have offered us nothing all season.

Maybe sell Boly as he hates Nuno from their time at wolves and maybe sell Felipe due to injuries (hard for me to say this) but he's a strong leader in the group.

We sign Nino from Fluminense (centre half linked with) and get Omobamidele involved more with 1st team squad

The midfield is sound and we cover - Yates and Mangala start.

We buy another winger who has PL experience to compete with Hudson-Odoi and Elanga (Sancho on loan but doubt that will happen! ) and then we buy a striker. Maybe try and get the lad Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart for 17.5m release clause but he may go elsewhere. Keep Wood as a last minute backup ready for Awoniyi.

2.) 21 Dec 2023 14:12:18
I don't get why we keep going on about players coming in are not the managers choice, it been like that for years now thier is not one manager out their that has control over the players that come in.

A manager years ago would go and scout the player themselves and go back to the owner or chairman and say who they wanted, however we don't have managers anymore they are HEAD COACH who are just told to train the players and its done to the director or football who we bring in, and it's also a lot to do with agents who in my opinion have spoilt the game.

3.) 21 Dec 2023 15:14:21
Lower BC, that’s why we willl never attract any great coaches. Can you imagine Klopp, Pep or Arteta putting up with the interference like SC has had to? Hence, the merry go round of new appointments.

4.) 21 Dec 2023 18:12:51
Do you really think they have that much say on who comes in aswell, good example kelvin Philips great prospect went to man city and has sat on the bench, he was not peps choice of player and it shows pep didn't want him, arteta never wanted ramesdale his first choice was alway raya.

We won't attract no big coach at the moment due to not finishing high enough in the league and no European football.

Who is a top class coach you would like to see though being our head coach, for me I would like Marco rose.

{Ed001's Note - neither of those examples are true, both Pep and Arteta have full control of recruitment.}

5.) 21 Dec 2023 19:40:32
Thought so Ed1. What’s the recruitment agreement at Liverpool with Klopp?

{Ed001's Note - he has final say.}

Dennis also I guess before Ayew. Though, as I say, none of those replacements have pulled any trees up this season . ?.

I have been trying in my own mind to list the players in the squad who, if all fully fit, would form the spine of the team and are essential and nailed on for the best starting 11. I've come up with Navas/ Hendo, Aurier (? ) Felipe, Boly, Lodi, Yates, MGW, Anoniyi and Johnno. So counting the goalkeepers as one because they are equally good imo, of those 9, Boly, Anoniyi and probably Johnno are unavailable ie a third of the first choice players. Anybody disagree with that list and assessment?

StokeyRed

1.) 14 Mar 2023 17:07:49
Just 2 to find for midfield then Stokey. Which is a big talking point atm, I'd like at least one of the Brazilians in there.

2.) 14 Mar 2023 18:06:31
MV mate, I’d probably go with a Christmas tree 4321 with the players available. So same back 5 as per last game ( can’t see SC risking Niakhate for Worrall to start), then Yates, Shelvey and Danilo, the MGW and Scarpa just behind Surridge. If Johnno is available, then he replaces Scarpa at least to start. Depends on his fitness state. Still leaves Williams and Niakhate defensive cover, Colback Freuler in midfield, and Ayew, Lingard etc. As you can see, beyond the core players, we are very thin on the ground in terms of quality.

3.) 14 Mar 2023 19:08:46
It’s a right mess Stokey. Along with the injuries to decent players we only have dross to replace them. Things ain’t working, we are slipping nearer the relegation places but “in Cooper we trust” refuses to change formation or playing staff. Leaving creative match winners like Scarpa and Surridge benched or not even in the squad. And I’m not having that tripe about Scarpa not being ready yet, he didn’t win the golden ball in the top league in Brazil for being “not ready”. But keep on picking the same crap with the same formation, park the bus but still leak goals and see where that gets us. But my guess is that Eeyore, Lingard and Freuler will start against the Toon.

4.) 15 Mar 2023 09:57:00
We now know why Scarpa hasn't been in the squad. He's struggling to afford a new head band atm.

5.) 27 Mar 2023 05:43:23
Probably leaves him out because he doesn't pass backwards enough can't have anyone attacking just don't suit forest style of play lol.

15 Feb 2023 20:40:01
It's looks like Boly out for 3 months and McKenna 2 months according to John Percy at the Telegraph. Not good at all.

So, let me get this right. Our "little" club have been European Champions more times than Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs combined? ??????.

Yep. And they don't like it one little bit.

2.) 18 Apr 2024 17:52:01
Delighted they both were kicked out. fantastic!

14 Apr 2024 19:56:34
Just a few comments to add to those already made.
Firstly, and most importantly, the lads are motivated and want to play for Nuno. They may not be doing so in terms of on field competence and decisions but they are showing some spirit.
Secondly, why has it taken so long for Reyna to get a start? He will only get sharper as he gets match fit and looks the type of player who can change a game. And, by the way, takes a better corner than MGW, as does Danillo.
Thirdly, I read somewhere that we have conceded 22 goals from set pieces this season, the Premierships highest. When will Nuno go to 3 centre backs to compensate for Murillos ( excellent by the way) lack of height to staunch the leaking.?
Fourthly, can anybody tell me how Cunha, receiving the ball in his own half and with no support can be allowed to advance up to and into our penalty area without a challenge? Surely, just someone ( probably Obamadele) to block him off and take a yellow for the team.
Cunha is a £44 million quid Brazilian International and a much underrated player but even he can't run when he's on the deck!
Lastly, I'd like to see Ribeiro get a few more minutes on the pitch. He's got something about him and did a lovely cameo. He's got to have more confidence and energy than Origi surely?
Generally, we showed again we are comfortably mid table team and matched Wolves as we over matched Fulham. Just needs a few tweaks then let Nuno sort the mess out pre season. Oh, and for Gods sake wrap MGW in cotton wool, we need him fit in the run in! Coyr!

StokeyRed

1.) 15 Apr 2024 13:34:58
Agree with you about Rebeiro. He just has that vibe about him that he can be a big player.

12 Apr 2024 16:50:22
I hope we give it a real go tomorrow. Also, I think 2 wins out of our last 6 games will probably be enough ( and 3 definately enough) because looking at Luton's last 6 I can see them winning more than 2. Tomorrow is a free hit because Luton won't get anything at Manchester City. Their run in is much harder than ours. I think by the time we play Burnley and Sheffield Utd they will be relegated and on the beach. Chelsea have been inconsistent all season despite their spending, Everton will be a humdinger but we can nick a draw.
Wolves fall into the "winnable" group, comfortably mid table and maybe not too keen on getting a Micky Mouse Europa League commitment with their resources stretched.
Expecting a cracker tomorrow.

1.) 12 Apr 2024 16:58:29
History shows once a team is relegated they start to relax and play much better, a real danger to our low impact performances of late, we are still in big trouble and the people running the club are very culpable.
CARLO.

2.) 12 Apr 2024 17:19:11
Agree with some of that Carlo. Just a look at the table show we are in trouble. We are definitely badly run, with great recklessness and poor judgement on many levels by Mr M. But, if we survive this horrendous season we have the chance to rebuild and ( hopefully) learn from our mistaken decisions taken in the boardroom. It could be a Dunkirk moment but a long way to go.
I think we will survive despite the Greeks decisions not because of them.

3.) 12 Apr 2024 17:49:47
So hope you’re right Stokey , worries me Vrentroz is still so involved with running OUR club, why?
CARLO.

4.) 12 Apr 2024 19:11:09
Don’t write Luton off. They have great spirit. We on the other hand lack leaders on the pitch and have some players just “going through the motions”.
If we stay up or get relegated one thing is plain to see- we need a huge clear out.

5.) 13 Apr 2024 10:08:19
Luton have got a lot of fight in them. A lot more than we seem to have. They keep going and scrapping until the end of a match. In our last few matches we've played well/ decent for 45 minutes then seem switch off in the other 45. We keep saying the saying the same things in regards to the next match being a must-win.

6.) 13 Apr 2024 10:23:10
They won't win anymore games so I'm not worried ?.

12 Apr 2024 12:00:51
May I commend an excellent and very moving report on BBC Football site about Forest fans experience at Hillsborough. Ed 1 you have probably read it already but just to give you the heads up mate.

StokeyRed

{Ed001's Note - I did look at that but I tend not to read stuff about it to be honest. I find it brings back too many bad memories.}

1.) 12 Apr 2024 12:37:24
That’s very understandable Ed. Terrible loss of innocent life. I remember the day well. I didn’t go to the game as my daughter was just a few days old. But where I lived at the time with my first wife at Underwood Nottinghamshire was literally a minutes walk from a pub called the Red Lion. The landlady at the time was a daughter of a Forest FA Cup winner and legend Jeff Whitefoot. It was a Forest pub and coach’s would pick up fans from there.
I remember listening to the match in the radio then hearing it had been paused then abandoned because of injured fans. It was only in later news bulletins that the true enormity of the disaster unfolded.
It was a sunny day and we took our daughter in the pram down to the Pub to sit outside for a drink. Then we saw the coach pull up and noticed the normally lively fans were very sombre and quiet. Most would usually have popped in for a pint before going home but not this time. We knew something bad had happened and were shocked as the numbers of the dead rose and rose ….

{Ed001's Note - my uncles were there, one ended up in the middle of it, I was meant to go with them but we got let down on my ticket. I mostly remember sitting there with me ma in tears as her two brothers were missing and the death toll was rising. In those days no one had mobile phones or anything. We just had to wait. It took them until late in the night before they were able to get to a phone and call to let anyone know they were ok. Neither of them have been the same since and have gone from being at every game, home and away, to being irregular matchgoers despite having season tickets. They both say it is not the same after that.}

2.) 12 Apr 2024 15:14:51
Ed, sincere thoughts with all fans effected. Lived here for 27 years, awful day.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Scouse.}

3.) 12 Apr 2024 17:22:36
We we're there and realised what was happening so went down to the gate and showed our firstaid cards but the police man said he couldn't let us through so went out the ground but couldn't get near. It was an horrific sight felt weird going home.

4.) 12 Apr 2024 18:59:07
I was playing for a local football team that day, the news broke on an old Transistor Radio that someone had pitch side. one by one we just stopped playing. and just sat down together and listened to the tragedy unfolding RIP the 97.

5.) 12 Apr 2024 22:01:07
My cousins were both there, fuc4ed up day.

Red Stripe, mate, Kenny Burns was a frigging centre forward not a centre half! Didn’t do a bad job there did he.
Doc I’ve been saying 3 centre backs for a long time. Unfortunately Felipe and Boly are both in the twilight of their careers and carrying injuries. But these are Nuno calls, it’s what he gets paid the big bucks for! Can’t help thinking we would have conceded less than 22 goals from set pieces with 3 centre backs, plus scored a few more with the wing backs free to bomb forward.

No Legless mate, it’s my mushy Maths brain not yours. I’m 67 so I’ve been a Reds fan for “only” 58 not 59 years! I retired from the Police aged 52 in 2009., so I think I’ve already raised the average life span of a copper I think! I always tell my wife if ever I end up in a coma on life support and the doctors tell her they want to switch the machines off on no account must she comply as I’ve only got to keep breathing ( artificially or not) to keep receiving the pension ?????. I was lucky insofar as I did enough Acting Inspector time to qualify for Inspector rather than Sergeants pension! Yehaaaay! ??.
The key is to keep busy. So I got a job working for the Staffordshire Council Public Analysts Office for 9 years tootling around the country collecting samples of anything that wanted testing. I don’t know if you ever watched consumer protection programmes like “Fake Britain” but it was always my brilliant boffin boss Dr Frank Hollywood who did the testing. I once went out to my van parked in the back yard and saw a pair of rather nice legs hanging out the rear doors and there on the end of them was the lovely Julia Summerville having a nap between takes! Happy days!
I did marathons ( London, Great North Run x 5, Robin Hood and D. H. Lawrence ) for Marie Curie Cancer Care, until my knees started creaking. Then got made redundant with the rest of the Department which had been going since 1923 at the stroke of a Tory Councillor’s pen in cost cutting.
Then finished off with 5 years as a Tesco delivery driver just in time for c.v. to keep me fit, get a bit ( or a lot during c.v.) of pocket money and got my Thursday night clap for helping the vulnerable and housebound get their supplies.
Now putting my feet up and following my beloved team and seeing a bit more of the world whilst I still can……….

My sympathy is entirely with the previous posters. I will renew for reasons of love and fatalism. Firstly, love of football and the ( mostly) pleasure supporting the Reds has given me over the years ( since I was 9, so 59 of them).
Secondly, I missed out on attending every game back in the day because of my Police career. You don’t get many Saturdays off my friends. And fatalistically because if I’m lucky enough not to pop my clogs of heart attack or falling under a bus tomorrow I recognise that one day I won’t be fit enough to get out of the house or remember where the City Ground is!
Oddly enough, many years ago I read Michael Parkinson’s book “Bats in the Pavilion “ about his life long love of cricket. He wrote very movingly about his Dad, a miner and lover of cricket, particularly Yorkshire CCV who suffered with dementia towards the end of his life and used to go MFH ( missing from home). The Police invariably found him at Headingly, the only place he could remember how to get there. It got to the point that the staff would let him in until the Police or Parky arrived to collect him, whether there was a game on or not. He would just sit there quietly when play would start. It brought a tear to my eye.
