Well fellow trickies, these are dark days indeed! I got caught in the queue on the A50 yesterday and missed the first 20 minutes and by the end of the game I wished I'd missed the next 70 as well! I think it was Einstein who said it's the height of scientific folly / madness to keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome.

The bulk of the team (and I'm not talking about Tomlin here) were the same as the crew who took part in the Preston, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull in the cup disasters! So for me it's; drop Mancienne, Fox, Dowell for starters and bring in the newbies, fit or not, like Watson and the new centre back and left back plus a bit of zip down the wings with Lolley and the Ex fulham winger.

Osbourne is wasted on the wing with his lack of pace. Only Cashy and Colback deserve to keep their place on yesterday's performance, Tomlin looked good but clearly not fit, Vellious isolated and don't even get me started on conceding a headed goal inside the six yard box from a corner with a 6 ft 8 goalie! I think we'll stay up but it's time for some drastic surgery!

1.) 11 Feb 2018 14:24:07
Think you are spot on with your analysis of yesterday's woeful effort, the only addition I would include would be two up front. Having said that to be fair to Vellios, we gave him no service and twice zero is still zero!

2.) 11 Feb 2018 15:34:37
is there a clause in Dowell's contract that he has to play?
He was woeful yesterday but played the whole game
AK says changes will be made so Saturday at 2 o'clock will be interesting when the team is announced

3.) 11 Feb 2018 16:05:51
Dowell has been the worst player in the team for the last 8 games or so. If there is a clause that states he has to play every game then send him back to Everton

4.) 11 Feb 2018 16:42:01
got to agree Pc76, they raved about him when he bagged 3 against Hull at tgeolir place but done very little since
New players in so let him go and save a few quid

5.) 11 Feb 2018 17:54:27
Stoked, agree but Osborn is dire ste the minute

6.) 12 Feb 2018 08:50:49
The best game Osborn played for Forest was off the striker why not try again.

02 Jan 2018 22:46:42
Was going to post this after Sunderland game but got lost in the turmoil of it being Warbos last game! Just felt sorry for Vaughn, best player on the pitch, didn't waste a pass and didn't stop working for the team in a losing cause, but ended up at 5 ft 7 trying to defend the cross against a couple of 6 footers because Mancienne had gone walkabout! Also thought the goal was a microcosm of Forests defending this season with an innocuous break then Lichaj and Brereton not pressing their winger who had all the time in the world to cross the ball! Idleness and slackness which I think Karanka would stamp out very quickly!

1.) 03 Jan 2018 00:02:37
No thanks to more drip drip drip football!

2.) 03 Jan 2018 00:50:03
Stokey, McGeady is 5'11", even a 5'7" midfielder could've jumped with him and put off his header. Trouble is no one was marking him, we may as well have given him the key to the City (ground).

3.) 03 Jan 2018 08:03:27
Said it all stokey,Whoever comes in will have bring on a couple of strong midfielders to replace the likes of Vaughan, too small to weak and to old.
Any side that gives the ball away cheaply in midfield will get punished.we do it all the time.
Manciene the same to weak.

4.) 03 Jan 2018 12:30:55
Ha ha ff79 we agree again. Its becoming a habit😃😃😃

5.) 03 Jan 2018 23:15:50
Any players signed this window should have pace as we attack to slow! Also taller players welcome as we have no threat from corners / dead ball situations.

22 Oct 2017 00:39:06
By the way what's our Nigel going on about saying post match "we can't bemoan referee ing decisions". He can't because, though I think Stroud is usually poor, today he got most things right today including the shout against Jordan Smith for a penalty when he clearly got the ball first before clattering into the Burton lad.

1.) 22 Oct 2017 09:23:25
Was it smith who clattered dyer or dyer who clattered smith or both ran into each other.both running towards the ball both making and attempt to get the ball but smith got there can’t stop mid air.even Phil brown said it was a penalty, imagine of that was given agaisnt clough and brown!

2.) 22 Oct 2017 23:34:14
Was in my seat directly in line with it,far as I'm concerned two honest players going for the ball.
Smith got his fist to it first.
His he then supposed to do a double summalsolt to jump over the player coming at him.?
Good goalkeeping and more importantly, good decision making from a young goalkeeper

17 Sep 2017 22:40:51
Suggested team v Chelsea working on the premises that firstly we want to prioritise game v Villa on Saturday, secondly give our fringe players a run out and lastly to keep the score down to a respectable level to maintain our morale bearing in mind we won't see much of the ball in all probability I'd go 4231 with Henderson lichaj rb Hobbes ancients central and Fox left back, then 2 defensive midfielders Vaughn Bouchalakis (even risk young Edser if Vaughn not fit) then Ward (if fit) or Carayol left, Clough central and Cummings right with Velious up top subs walker, and a couple of the academy lads like Gomiz, Ahadomedvic? Mighten? Thoughts, fellow trickies?

1.) 17 Sep 2017 23:06:54
Think we could be in for a tonking Wednesday night.
Hazard will start apparently. MW will try and go toe to toe with them and I fear a cricket score.
Hope I'm wrong.

2.) 17 Sep 2017 23:11:46
Spellchecker alert Mancienne came out as "ancients" for some reason probably because of the ancient git typing it!

3.) 18 Sep 2017 16:22:54
I put a cheeky 10 on us doing Chelsea 2-1

4.) 19 Sep 2017 19:17:08
Lichaj Hobbs Fox Traore
Edser Vaughan
Carayol Clough Ward

01 Jun 2017 21:41:45
Well, that makes a refreshing change! Just read Mr Randalls open letter and am very very impressed! At last a brutally honest assessment of the dire straits our beloved Club is in and a realistic plan to get things back on track from a thoroughly reputable man that's not based on pure fantasy and propaganda. It's not going to be easy to stop the rot but as Mao said in a journey of a thousand miles you have to take the first step. So let's have patience fellow reds as we 're all in this for the long haul. I m particularly excited by the community, youth and fans participation, reduction in prices, promise of attractive passing football and living within our means. It's a lifeline for God's sake let's grab it! COYR!

1.) 02 Jun 2017 06:06:16
It sounds as though it will be one step back to get 2 steps forward i.e losing one or maybe two players to get on the straight and narrow (hope ok wrong) but if that happens how will the fans react at first? britt or Ben might go to help with ffp and before getting ahead of ourselves thinking big money will be spent let's keep level heads and accept that it will take time to sort th me club out.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 20:13:44
Flowing positivity from UTF again haha.

Game of 2 halves! Just wish we could play the full 90 like we did the second half when, at times, we zipped it around like Brazil circa 1970! Reading chasing shadows last 45. Figueroa and Fox solid again but man of the man goes to Tomlinson! Not bad for a fat lad who looks like a bus driver (apologies to any bus drivers out there but you know what I mean) he's Karankas one luxury player apart from young Dowell so he won't do much defensively but he can save or win us a game. Good point as we inch our way to safety and rebuild for next season hopefully. COYR!

1.) 21 Feb 2018 12:01:23
Good post Stokey, watched the highlights and couldn't believe some of the negative posts on here. Baby steps granted but progress none the less. QPR away and Birmingham at home, min 4 points required, then I'll start to think about being safe. FTID.

2.) 21 Feb 2018 12:25:19
If we don’t get 6 points from our next 2 easiest games then I don’t know where else the points will come from Karanka out ☝️😀

3.) 21 Feb 2018 12:31:37
Totally agree guys!!! More of what we done in the second half last night, and we'll be fine.

4.) 21 Feb 2018 22:09:21
AK out, ridiculous comment. He is a good manager that needs time

17 Feb 2018 21:01:42
Just a few thoughts fellow trickies. Imo a great away point with 10 men for an hour, although Eric's red was harsh, a yellow at worst and looked worse than it was. The ref gave us nothing and was a real homer. Watson and Colback magnificent and the new Spanish centre half looked steady and calm.

Cash got through loads of work and Pants made some crucial saves. Also a word for all you Fox hunters out there, Danny didn't put a foot wrong and was Man of the Match for me. Bring on the Royals! Get 50 points asap then rebuild for next season. COYR.

1.) 17 Feb 2018 21:55:03
The Spanish centre half is Tobias Figueiredo and he’s Portuguese.

2.) 17 Feb 2018 22:11:02
Stokey I couldn't get there today so had to listen on radio.
Hodge said it would be red immediately he did it.
It sounded awful to watch and getting to fifty points as quick as possible ?
I can't see that,I see at least 8 more defeats this season and I can't see a win, because to win a game you have to score a goal at least.
Where is the goal going to come from?
3 goals in 7 games? That's seriously bad and he's got rid of clough walker and cast vellios to one side and plays tomlin, who can only play at walking pace.
Burton and Sunderland are gone as far as I'm concerned but that third drop place worries me,We have all the attributes of a team that could fall into it.

3.) 17 Feb 2018 22:17:38
Good stuff Stokey.Fox is shocking at left back but as you say he's never let me down at centre half.Yes Pantillimon was solid making the necessary saves and Figueiredo sounded very comfortable alongside Fox.Onwards and upwards

4.) 17 Feb 2018 23:53:14
Yep tap getting confused with the Spanish left back Fuentes. As we 've signed virtually a complete new team I'm still trying to get the names and nationalities right. The point is Fox and Figaredo were very solid central defenders today under a lot of pressure. Thanks for putting me right though

5.) 18 Feb 2018 00:07:33
Nice one tap.

6.) 18 Feb 2018 08:50:47
Got you Stokey and I’m with you on that mate.👍🏻

08 Feb 2018 22:07:12
Had to laugh at those posts FF! Brilliant!

07 Jan 2018 23:37:11
First job for new manager, after introducing himself, is to shove a new contract under Eric s nose and get him to bloody sign it. Give him a dog as a sweetener if necessary! Whatever it takes!

1.) 08 Jan 2018 01:31:27
I'm sure there will be a few "One man and his dog" chants being thought up after that Lichaj revelation

07 Jan 2018 23:20:29
Can't really add to the superlatives put on here already about today's performance but just 3 points: firstly, great credit to GB for mixing it up and being flexible and pragmatic, long and short balls down the channels at pace and with flair with no tippy tappy dogmatic sideways passing just for the sake of it. Secondly, our 6 academy products out there will have added millions onto their value after today, particularly Brereton and Cashy. Lastly, just 're watched it on MOTD and is Lawro turning into Bagpuss, the saggy old cloth cat, baggy and coming slowly apart at the seams?

1.) 07 Jan 2018 23:55:17
I agree stokey, although I always refer to Lawro as Emperor Palpatine from Star wars as his face just looks like its melting the older he gets!

{Ed007's Note - Sounds a bit like Ed003. If you made a candle that looked like Vic Reeves and melted it for a good hour we could market them as Ed003 voodoo dolls.}

Imo great news but if he's not performing Clough and Osbourne can do his role as attacking midfielder probably Cashy as well. That,in my book,is good competition and should the lad on his toes!

Thoroughly agree BSE the Owls are managerless , in poor form, low in confidence and with a long injury list. They are there for the taking plus we 're at home so I'd go more attacking put Cashy in for either Vaughn or Bridcutt probably the former and let's have a real go at them.Otherwise start the same line up as per Preston assuming everyone's fit with attacking options on the bench like McKay,Walker,Wardy.

I agree with most of what you say FF. i'd certainly adopt a defensive but swift counter attacking posture.Certainly,Eric needs to be in his best position, right back which means a recall to Traore to balance the team at left back. Mills and Worrall centre to combat their aerial threat, then cover with 2 defensive midfielders Bridcutt and either Vaughn or Bouchlakis probably Vaughn. I'd give Ward a start as his work ethic will wear them down then introduce pace down the flanks 2nd half with Carayol or Walker and McKay though it would be harsh to drop Walker after last week's excellent performance v Bolton. Then Murphy to start up top and Brereton to come on when the Irishman starts to tire. As for attacking midfielder behind the lone striker in a 4231 it's a toss up,in order of preference between Dowell, Osbourne or Clough. I await the team news tomorrow with great interest but we 'll need to work very very hard to even get a point, which would be excellant

Redinexile great post, you will see in my previous posts that imo Wardy should always start if fit.Great little player and a real (mostly unused) asset!

I'm with you bsered I'd give Tomlinson an hour just behind Vellious or Murphy with Brereton to come on later if we are losing or Osbourne if we are hanging on. It would be great to see a bit of pace down the wings with lolley and cash/Dejaggah.As a footnote I'm concerned about how Smith must be feeling he hasn't done much wrong yet gets dropped for Pants who hasn't impressed so far and likewise Eric brought off at half time.

Confirmed Perks,Bouch was the minder with Bridcutt a bit further forward but out of possession the lads were very quickly 451 with the wider players like Cash tucking in and even Dowell doing a bit defensively.Well drilled and organized throughout though, they looked like they knew what they were doing!

I thought AK might have given Vellious 15 to 20 minutes yesterday as young Brereton was running on empty towards the end!
