By the way what's our Nigel going on about saying post match "we can't bemoan referee ing decisions". He can't because, though I think Stroud is usually poor, today he got most things right today including the shout against Jordan Smith for a penalty when he clearly got the ball first before clattering into the Burton lad.

Suggested team v Chelsea working on the premises that firstly we want to prioritise game v Villa on Saturday, secondly give our fringe players a run out and lastly to keep the score down to a respectable level to maintain our morale bearing in mind we won't see much of the ball in all probability I'd go 4231 with Henderson lichaj rb Hobbes ancients central and Fox left back, then 2 defensive midfielders Vaughn Bouchalakis (even risk young Edser if Vaughn not fit) then Ward (if fit) or Carayol left, Clough central and Cummings right with Velious up top subs walker, and a couple of the academy lads like Gomiz, Ahadomedvic? Mighten? Thoughts, fellow trickies?

1.) 17 Sep 2017 23:06:54
Think we could be in for a tonking Wednesday night.
Hazard will start apparently. MW will try and go toe to toe with them and I fear a cricket score.
Hope I'm wrong.

2.) 17 Sep 2017 23:11:46
Spellchecker alert Mancienne came out as "ancients" for some reason probably because of the ancient git typing it!

3.) 18 Sep 2017 16:22:54
I put a cheeky 10 on us doing Chelsea 2-1

4.) 19 Sep 2017 19:17:08
Lichaj Hobbs Fox Traore
Edser Vaughan
Carayol Clough Ward

Well, that makes a refreshing change! Just read Mr Randalls open letter and am very very impressed! At last a brutally honest assessment of the dire straits our beloved Club is in and a realistic plan to get things back on track from a thoroughly reputable man that's not based on pure fantasy and propaganda. It's not going to be easy to stop the rot but as Mao said in a journey of a thousand miles you have to take the first step. So let's have patience fellow reds as we 're all in this for the long haul. I m particularly excited by the community, youth and fans participation, reduction in prices, promise of attractive passing football and living within our means. It's a lifeline for God's sake let's grab it! COYR!

1.) 02 Jun 2017 06:06:16
It sounds as though it will be one step back to get 2 steps forward i.e losing one or maybe two players to get on the straight and narrow (hope ok wrong) but if that happens how will the fans react at first? britt or Ben might go to help with ffp and before getting ahead of ourselves thinking big money will be spent let's keep level heads and accept that it will take time to sort th me club out.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 20:13:44
Flowing positivity from UTF again haha.

14 May 2017 12:47:25
Just thinking aloud but if Warbo wants a small, tight squad of about 22 I would suggest (assuming the likes of Lica, Perquis and Lam have no part in Warbos blueprint) the following names for debate thoughts and comments. Smith, Henderson, Lichaj, Traore, Fox, Mancienne, Mills, Worrall, Carayol, Arikiwi, Osbourne, Clough, Vaughn, Cohen, Cash, Edser, Ward, Assombonga Vellious and Bereton. Total 20.

Then decisions to be made on Grant, Hobbes, Pinillos and Yeats Total 24. That squad would be supported by the next wave of Academy products like Gabriel, Iaovetti, Gomis, Ahmedocovic? So he says a couple of quality signings perhaps to cater for Cohen and Vaughn s ageing legs and a bit of pace out wide? Thoughts?

1.) 14 May 2017 12:55:04
Edser, Aryibi, Grant and Cash probably aren't included in that 22 man squad that he wants and are extras.

Personally don't rate Mills and would like to see him replaced. Mancienne will be the starting centre back with a new partner. Will it be a back 3 or 4 though? Remains to be seen.

2.) 14 May 2017 14:36:58
Imo he will favour 3 at the back, so not sure if defence will be high on his shopping list, I would definitely keep Piniolis and then bring in some academy players into the fringe of the squad. If he could tempt a bit of quality from former clubs (Brentford and Rangers) then great, but I really don't think he needs to change alot, just needs to get the players performing.

3.) 14 May 2017 15:19:53
It'd be the first time he deviates from the 4-3-3 he has played at Brentford and Rangers. Not sure he will do that.

4.) 14 May 2017 17:52:34
I think there will be a few comings and goings in the summer hopefully MW will get a few new quality signings in to already add to what on paper is a decent squad I actually think and hopefully I'm totally wrong that Osborn and brereton will be sold to Newcastle and Liverpool but we'll see apparantly takeover to be totally completed by next weekend then we'll know exactly what's the path we'll be going hopefully to the premiership where we belong but its a long road ahead COYR.

5.) 14 May 2017 22:15:15
Why would cash not be in MWs 22?

6.) 14 May 2017 23:05:04
I think he is too rash to be a core first teamer. Is he any better than Grant?

7.) 15 May 2017 06:55:23
Because he is useless!

8.) 15 May 2017 19:36:45
Sorry didn't mean useless, I meant crap! My mistake.

9.) 15 May 2017 21:45:44
Nice to see the lad getting support in his first season.

10.) 16 May 2017 07:00:42
I would support him, if he was any good. Maybe one for the future but not now.

09 May 2017 15:52:53
Reasons to be cheerful part one (now the dust has settled! ) Firstly stating the obvious we are still in the Championship. If we had gone down I firmly believe Marinakos would have pulled out (despite what Paul Taylor was writing in the NEP) and FAH would have cut his losses and put us into administration. Also the budget wouldn't have stretched to a Director of Football so Mcparland would have been on his way followed by his mate Warbo plus all our best players. It makes me shudder to even think about it.

Secondly, Warbo will hit the ground running in pre season having had 9 games with players under the most intense pressure imaginable. He would have learnt a lot about this squad. Thirdly 5 of the 14 players involved v Ipswich were academy products, so the futures bright and I'm looking forward to the emergence of Edser, Grant, Yeats Gomis sect with a manager happy to give them a chance.

So, new owners let's get the Academy up to Grade A and support Brazil and Lester! It's our lifeline. Fourthly now that FAH is going we might get a proper structure in place and, who knows, we might get a CEO who actually knows how to run a football club! Lastly I'm going on me hols to New England! That's only indirectly related to Forest insofar as I need a break after all the bloody stress they've caused me this season.! COYR

Eric definitely deserved the Man of the Match award but some excellent performances from others. Fox didn't put a foot wrong either at centre back or later at left back w hen Traore got injured, Vaughn showed how much we 've missed him and he and Bridcutt dominated the midfield and both got through mountains of work in the engine room.

It didn't quite come off for Cummins today but he had some lovely touches, Osbourne, as always, busy and worked hard to keep things ticking over. If only he had a bit more pace he d be premiership class, likewise Bridcutt. Big Murph worked hard for zilch reward, McKay was in and out of the game, always doubled marked but when he was in the game he was a brilliant and his goal was very well taken, great technique to keepthe shot down. Worrall was steady as was Mancienne but I didn't understand why Mancienne marked the big lad Akins and got outmuscled a couple of times, I thought Worrall would have been stronger with Mancienne sweeping up behind him.

Also, don't be too dismissive about Burton fellow trickies they came for a point and were wasting time from the first few minutes. Superbly defensively organized, strong and physical they were difficult to break down so today was a good result. So, onwards and upwards, hope Traores ok! COYR.

21 Oct 2017 12:15:41
Just about to set off for the game so COYR! Burton obviously with sit back and hit us on the break but I hope to see a bit of pace introduced down the flanks today with Ward/ Caroyol left and McKay/ Tendikiwa right side with Cummins supporting Murphy up top and some Insurance in front of the back 4 provided by Vaughn and Bridcutt. Keep same back 4 as last week and see how we do. We need to score first for a bloody change, especially against the Brewers to encourage them not to kill the game. Right, ticket check, lucky reds shirt check, storm Brian sou westercheck, I'm away!

1.) 21 Oct 2017 13:23:56
Last time I looked, Ward was a right winger and McKay was a left winger - maybe you are hoping to confuse the oppostion ?

2.) 21 Oct 2017 20:56:28
Foreign,I've seen Wardy and McKay play both wings and today McKay and Osbourne swapped wings a couple of times! It all gets a bit confusing sometimes!

14 Oct 2017 17:09:31
Please Warbo play 4231 to start tomorrow, forget 3 at the back and put Mills on the bench! I'd go Smith, Tendiki Worrell Mancienne Traore, with Bridcutt and ideally Vaughn but realistically Bouchalakis (though Vaughn might manage 20 mins at the end) then ideally Wardy left (again realistically Osbourne or Carayol), McKay right and Cummins just behind Big Murphy. Later Dowell for Cummings and Lichaj for Tendiki push the latter to right wing depending on how Mckays doing. Gives us solidity and options. Thoughts?

1.) 14 Oct 2017 19:43:33
I’d like a 4-3-3
Darikwa Hobbs Worrall Traore
Bouchalakis Osbourne
Cummings McKay

2.) 14 Oct 2017 19:45:59
I'd never play McKay right and ward to be other way around,McKay has only played well left.
Think he'll play same side as against sheff Utd personally,

3.) 14 Oct 2017 21:55:05
Why would anyone want darikwa in their side on current form?
He's been a major probllem all season with his ball watching, clueless defender, but will start tomorow,Hobbs forget won't happen.

4.) 14 Oct 2017 23:15:28
We will only get a result tomorrow if we provide support for Murphy over 90 minutes and keep the pressure on Direby's back 4 so Murph can give that journeyman Keogh the runaround!

If we do that we are nailed on for a penalty. If he benches Darikwa and Mills we should then win at a canter otherwise we will need to score at least 2 to get a result?

5.) 15 Oct 2017 02:20:07
Keogh og.
Nailed on?
No worriesπŸ˜€

13 Oct 2017 20:19:40
Greetings fellow trickies! I was in Nottingham today to get my Burton tickets and went along to the very entertaining under 23 s game v Burnley. Vaughn gave an absolute masterclass in midfield. He didn't misplace a pass and he made dozens, whether 50 yards,20 or 5 and ran the game, won his tackles, tidied things up and he has that incredible ability to receive a ball with an opponent a yard away, turn on a sixpence and lay it off at pace. A wonderful display and it shows how much we 've missed him and will miss him when he retires. Cash was industrious but looked understandably rusty and a bit tentative at times, the goal he finished off was a thing of beauty with the ball zipped about at pace on the deck and had their lads chasing shadows. Edser worked hard and I love the way he plays with his head up, looking always to pass it or receive it. Our defenders looked comfortable on the ball and kept Takhi Wells quiet and you could Hendo barking out instructions to his young Defence throughout the match. All in all a good game and the icing on the cake for me was to meet Chris Cohen in the car park and have a chat about the big game on Sunday. He said the boys are up for it and can't wait for it, very positive. What a great bloke and a thoroughly decent human being, no airs and graces, a credit to the Club and himself. Get fit soon Skipper!

11 Oct 2017 20:15:35
With apologies in advance, my prayer before we go into battle on Sunday to "The God of Football";

Our legend, who art in Heaven,
Cloughie be thy name
Our promotion come
Thy will be done
In Nottingham as it is in Heaven
Give us on Sunday
Our deserved three points
And forgive us our pitch invasions
As we forgive those who invade our pitch against us
And lead Warbo not into the temptation
Of playing three at the back
But deliver us from the evil
Of reinstating Mills
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the European Cup glory
Forest forever and forever Amen.

1.) 11 Oct 2017 22:05:23
I'll have to try a pint of that stokey.

2.) 12 Oct 2017 09:45:37
Just another game in a long season in which we will need to score at least 2 to get a result unless Warbo picks his best defenders?

Its been a long time since we have had a classic game of football in this fixture with the games following a similar pattern of nervous energy, containment and frantic defending.

Let's hope Warbo gets them on their A game, a high tempo and a couple of early goals to send us on our way?

3.) 12 Oct 2017 16:41:10
Well done Stokey!!!

4.) 13 Oct 2017 14:28:03
Here!!! Stokey??? can't believe you got 5 dislikes??? "It's unbelievable Jeff!!!"

5.) 13 Oct 2017 17:55:51
Onlywayisup were going to win a lot of tough games this season starting with the sheep Vaughan back just in time hopefully we can be sniffing round the top 10 come Xmas if we are expect a lot more investment come the January window exciting times for a change.

6.) 13 Oct 2017 17:56:03
2 days to go looks like Vaughan and cash not going to be in team as playing for under 23s but I think our team is more than good enough to beat the sheep.

I'm amazed Warbo s game plan v Chelsea was to try to out pass a n d out football them. It must have been like the Charge of the Light Brigade heroic but suicidal! As one French general watching at the brave 600 said "C est magnifique mais ne c est pas last guerre" ie it's magnificent but it's not the right way to fight a battle" against impossible odds! So come on Warbo give the lads a bloody chance and be more dogged and pragmatic!

Good because in my opinion we don't need a goalkeeper,Smith is excellent and will get better with Henderson and Evtimov entirely adequate at this level as back up. Thanks for update Denmark I guess some negotiations just don't come off!

Disappointed that Edsers not on the squad list I really rate him. I would think Evtimov will go out on loan when Henderson's fit and perhaps Kyle Walker leaving a 24 man squad.

Had to have a chuckle at your post Sutton red 85 about Eric's celebratory run! He started just by the dugout, bombed down the wing, cut inside, did the one two, carried on into the box to score, then ran at full speed along the full length of the Brian Clough stand in front of us, beating his chest and the famous badge, then ran still at full speed the whole width of the Trent End and pulled up in his right back slot about 20 yards from the dugout again.I don't think he was making a point to Warbo he was just knackered and trying to get his breath back before play restarted! Ha ha! Great to see that passion though!

Syred with respect didn't Warbo get Brentford promoted then into the Championship playoffs on a tiny budget, then got a financially troubled Rangers promoted into the Scottish Prem and into 3rd place, winning a League cup on the way? Playing entertaining football on the way also? It's a record not to be sniffed at surely? On balance, let's give him a chance bearing in mind our chairman's view that we are a club in intensive care

Just as an afterthought,Dyches Burnley are 7th in the premiership with one defeat in 8 games and have conceded 6 goals.Their back 4 have been unchanged all season.Could there be a link there Warbo perhaps?

Just a few thoughts having watched today's game on Sly. Firstly,Murphy looked knackered so why not have Vellious on the bench as standby at least? Secondly, not much pace in the side except for McKay so again Carayol on the bench? Thirdly, great to see Ward and Lichaj back.Fourthly we 'll be better now Vaughnys back hopefully next week.Lastly, why no Hobbes, best centre back we 've got and whilst he's fit we should play him alongside Mancienne or Worrall.Puzzled, concerned but still supporting Warbo (just!). Burton becomes a must win game I think.
