By the way what's our Nigel going on about saying post match "we can't bemoan referee ing decisions". He can't because, though I think Stroud is usually poor, today he got most things right today including the shout against Jordan Smith for a penalty when he clearly got the ball first before clattering into the Burton lad.

StokeyRed

1.) 22 Oct 2017 09:23:25
Was it smith who clattered dyer or dyer who clattered smith or both ran into each other.both running towards the ball both making and attempt to get the ball but smith got there first.you canโ€™t stop mid air.even Phil brown said it was a penalty, imagine of that was given agaisnt clough and brown!

2.) 22 Oct 2017 23:34:14
Was in my seat directly in line with it,far as I'm concerned two honest players going for the ball.
Smith got his fist to it first.
His he then supposed to do a double summalsolt to jump over the player coming at him.?
Good goalkeeping and more importantly, good decision making from a young goalkeeper

Suggested team v Chelsea working on the premises that firstly we want to prioritise game v Villa on Saturday, secondly give our fringe players a run out and lastly to keep the score down to a respectable level to maintain our morale bearing in mind we won't see much of the ball in all probability I'd go 4231 with Henderson lichaj rb Hobbes ancients central and Fox left back, then 2 defensive midfielders Vaughn Bouchalakis (even risk young Edser if Vaughn not fit) then Ward (if fit) or Carayol left, Clough central and Cummings right with Velious up top subs walker, and a couple of the academy lads like Gomiz, Ahadomedvic? Mighten? Thoughts, fellow trickies?

Think we could be in for a tonking Wednesday night.
Hazard will start apparently. MW will try and go toe to toe with them and I fear a cricket score.
Hope I'm wrong.

2.) 17 Sep 2017 23:11:46
Spellchecker alert Mancienne came out as "ancients" for some reason probably because of the ancient git typing it!

3.) 18 Sep 2017 16:22:54
I put a cheeky 10 on us doing Chelsea 2-1

4.) 19 Sep 2017 19:17:08
Henderson
Lichaj Hobbs Fox Traore
Edser Vaughan

Well, that makes a refreshing change! Just read Mr Randalls open letter and am very very impressed! At last a brutally honest assessment of the dire straits our beloved Club is in and a realistic plan to get things back on track from a thoroughly reputable man that's not based on pure fantasy and propaganda. It's not going to be easy to stop the rot but as Mao said in a journey of a thousand miles you have to take the first step. So let's have patience fellow reds as we 're all in this for the long haul. I m particularly excited by the community, youth and fans participation, reduction in prices, promise of attractive passing football and living within our means. It's a lifeline for God's sake let's grab it! COYR!

It sounds as though it will be one step back to get 2 steps forward i.e losing one or maybe two players to get on the straight and narrow (hope ok wrong) but if that happens how will the fans react at first? britt or Ben might go to help with ffp and before getting ahead of ourselves thinking big money will be spent let's keep level heads and accept that it will take time to sort th me club out.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 20:13:44
Flowing positivity from UTF again haha.

14 May 2017 12:47:25
Just thinking aloud but if Warbo wants a small, tight squad of about 22 I would suggest (assuming the likes of Lica, Perquis and Lam have no part in Warbos blueprint) the following names for debate thoughts and comments. Smith, Henderson, Lichaj, Traore, Fox, Mancienne, Mills, Worrall, Carayol, Arikiwi, Osbourne, Clough, Vaughn, Cohen, Cash, Edser, Ward, Assombonga Vellious and Bereton. Total 20.

Then decisions to be made on Grant, Hobbes, Pinillos and Yeats Total 24. That squad would be supported by the next wave of Academy products like Gabriel, Iaovetti, Gomis, Ahmedocovic? So he says a couple of quality signings perhaps to cater for Cohen and Vaughn s ageing legs and a bit of pace out wide? Thoughts?

StokeyRed

1.) 14 May 2017 12:55:04
Edser, Aryibi, Grant and Cash probably aren't included in that 22 man squad that he wants and are extras.

Personally don't rate Mills and would like to see him replaced. Mancienne will be the starting centre back with a new partner. Will it be a back 3 or 4 though? Remains to be seen.

2.) 14 May 2017 14:36:58
Imo he will favour 3 at the back, so not sure if defence will be high on his shopping list, I would definitely keep Piniolis and then bring in some academy players into the fringe of the squad. If he could tempt a bit of quality from former clubs (Brentford and Rangers) then great, but I really don't think he needs to change alot, just needs to get the players performing.

3.) 14 May 2017 15:19:53
It'd be the first time he deviates from the 4-3-3 he has played at Brentford and Rangers. Not sure he will do that.

4.) 14 May 2017 17:52:34
I think there will be a few comings and goings in the summer hopefully MW will get a few new quality signings in to already add to what on paper is a decent squad I actually think and hopefully I'm totally wrong that Osborn and brereton will be sold to Newcastle and Liverpool but we'll see apparantly takeover to be totally completed by next weekend then we'll know exactly what's the path we'll be going hopefully to the premiership where we belong but its a long road ahead COYR.

5.) 14 May 2017 22:15:15
Why would cash not be in MWs 22?
London.

6.) 14 May 2017 23:05:04
I think he is too rash to be a core first teamer. Is he any better than Grant?

7.) 15 May 2017 06:55:23
Because he is useless!

8.) 15 May 2017 19:36:45
Sorry didn't mean useless, I meant crap! My mistake.

9.) 15 May 2017 21:45:44
Nice to see the lad getting support in his first season.

10.) 16 May 2017 07:00:42
I would support him, if he was any good. Maybe one for the future but not now.

09 May 2017 15:52:53
Reasons to be cheerful part one (now the dust has settled! ) Firstly stating the obvious we are still in the Championship. If we had gone down I firmly believe Marinakos would have pulled out (despite what Paul Taylor was writing in the NEP) and FAH would have cut his losses and put us into administration. Also the budget wouldn't have stretched to a Director of Football so Mcparland would have been on his way followed by his mate Warbo plus all our best players. It makes me shudder to even think about it.

Secondly, Warbo will hit the ground running in pre season having had 9 games with players under the most intense pressure imaginable. He would have learnt a lot about this squad. Thirdly 5 of the 14 players involved v Ipswich were academy products, so the futures bright and I'm looking forward to the emergence of Edser, Grant, Yeats Gomis sect with a manager happy to give them a chance.

So, new owners let's get the Academy up to Grade A and support Brazil and Lester! It's our lifeline. Fourthly now that FAH is going we might get a proper structure in place and, who knows, we might get a CEO who actually knows how to run a football club! Lastly I'm going on me hols to New England! That's only indirectly related to Forest insofar as I need a break after all the bloody stress they've caused me this season.! COYR

With respect, calm down dears! We are a work in progress, after the disastrous years under Fawaz we are rebuilding a club that is, in the words of our sensible and realistic chairman, in intensive care. Mid table stability would do just fine for me this season. Only semi mythical legends like Cloughie take struggling 2nd division sides to European Champions in a couple of years and that was in the days of a more level playing field financially. We now have a properly run club with a policy of recruiting mostly young players supported by a successful academy system which hides well for the future. We aspire to and sometimes achieve playing lovely football. Let's have patience fellow Reds and think where we were last season. Rome wasn't built in a day though Cloughie wasn't on that particular job!

StokeyRed

1.) 17 Dec 2017 10:47:43
Stokey you are right about work in progress etc but i think what most fans want is a plan B when we go behind or our plan A is sussed at the moment he is subbing like for like,i don't want him sacked but if he doesn't change his formations soon and start grinding out away draws or possibly ugly away wins i think Marinakis will get rid which would be a shame because if he can get the players to play his way i think we will be awesome ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

2.) 17 Dec 2017 11:50:17
He played three at the back yesterday,That's a different formation, then had to change it when mills got injured,he's played three at the back a few times, there's your plan b

3.) 17 Dec 2017 12:32:14
I don't believe there is any planning at all. He puts players in and hopes for the best. Without firm and clear leadership on the pitch the players go wherever they like and leave gaps especially between midfield and defence. We have wingers who don't get back to defend, and yesterday even Murphy had to support the defence standing at a post. He's stopped the kick-it-and-run but in the first half yesterday all the defenders did was play hoofball and either kick or head the ball out of play giving the opposition throw-ins and corners. I want MW to succeed but I'm not sure he's too clear on what to do and in any case he hasn't got the players to do it. We need to start using some of the youngsters who are playing so well in the U18 and U21 sides. Cash would have been far better than Bouchalakis yesterday, and McKay definitely should have started - Carayol only made one run into their penalty area as far as I could tell.

4.) 17 Dec 2017 13:03:02
FF79. Where did you get 3 at the back from? Back 4 started. Lichaj Worrall Mills and Mancienne.

5.) 17 Dec 2017 14:18:07
FF79-are you Warbo in disguise?

6.) 17 Dec 2017 16:18:03
No,it,s UTF in disguise ?
CARLO

7.) 17 Dec 2017 20:22:21
Don't get me wrong fellow Reds,Warburton is no Clough but then again who could be? It occurred to me with all the posts about team selection,formations,3 or 4 at the back, plan A plan B etc (and I include my own posts in that) that Clough didn't get bogged down in such stuff and said football was a simple game made complicated by people who know nothing about it.He told his players not to worry about the opposition but let them worry about us.He motivated his team's to go out believing they were unbeatable and mostly they were. He made very few changes to his team's both in personnel and philosophy and above all kept it simple so that everyone knew their jobs collectively and individually.Perhaps i'm being naive in the modern world of football.Thoughts?

8.) 17 Dec 2017 21:27:09
He was a great manager and a leader stokey.
In those days he signed the players,No agents to deal with,No freedom of contract.
They were paid a wage, but their main wage was bonuses based on achievement,How I wish those days were back.
Now we have directors of football, agents, the ruin of football.
Clough signed fit energetic players who would die for him, promised them success and he delivered and so did they,if they didn't he soon showed them the door,he was the boss and everyone knew it.
Game now is so different, even if your an average championship player there on approx 10K, a week, that's far to much in my opinion, but that's football now and it won't change.
He was a genius in seeing what others cudnt in a player,ie.mcgovern, ohare,Gemmill, withe, birtles and probably his greatest was turning a disheveled young Robbo into the best winger I've seen.
The worst two things that ever happened in football was sky and a two bit no good footballer called bosman, money took over and instead of staying in football and going around the clubs it disappears to greedy agents and a lotof overpaid and overated footballers.
It's not a simple game anymore tactically either,I love two up top ,but how many teams in the top two divisions in the world play it?

14 Dec 2017 17:34:46
Well there's a surprise! Welsh FA to take no action over Chief Exec Jonathon Ford comment that next Welsh manager will definitely not be English! How is that not racist? Just transpose "black""Jewish" or "Pakistani"? Guess we English don't count!

StokeyRed

1.) 14 Dec 2017 18:20:11
StokeyRed

You in my opinion are over reacting.

Football is about rivalries, why would Wales want a English manager?

Also in the past i have seen on the news some English people living in Wales having had their homes set on fire, so they hate English people with a passion, why then would the Welsh FA want a English manager.

2.) 14 Dec 2017 19:15:35
Stokey, Stokey, Stokey please don't get dragged into a false 'race' argument. English is not a race it's a nationality. The Welsh FA are not being racist, they're being prejudice. Good on them because in no way in heaven and hell would I accept a Welshy for the England job. Good healthy rivalry and banter, long may it continue. Still want the the Taffy's part of the union, mind. Boyo.๐Ÿ˜€

3.) 14 Dec 2017 20:27:52
Yep, so glad they are not in world cup, haven't forgot some of their team being video jumping for joy when we lost to iceland

4.) 14 Dec 2017 21:37:23
Wales need the best manager they can attract so the guy is a muppet for ruling out English managers that are at least 40% of the options?

Maybe they should appoint Mike England as manager and keep everybody happy?

5.) 14 Dec 2017 21:59:56
That'll put Giggs out of the equation then?
Even though he was a great servant to them, can't give it an Englishman?
Be ironic if they do a point him

6.) 14 Dec 2017 22:23:23
Scouseduckred, Ford is clearly in breach of the provisions of the Race Relations Act 1976 as amended by the Equality Act 2010 relating to discrimination against a person on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnicity and ethnic origins relating to many fields including opportunity of employment. As far as England employing a non Englishman as a manager I wouldn't care if he or she was a purple spotted 6 armed 3 headed alien from the planet Zog as long as we won the World Cup!

7.) 14 Dec 2017 23:04:57
Incidentally,a solicitor mate of mine thinks any unsuccessful English applicant for the job would have a good case in civil law for damages under the legislation in view of the comments of Ford even prior to interview. At the very least Ford has shown himself a Mickey mouse leader of a third rate chicken s##t organization and damaged their credibility and reputation.

8.) 14 Dec 2017 23:31:22
Stokey it's Christmas let it go .
Racism is a terrible thing, this isn't racism otherwise Giggs and lots of others wouldn't have played for them,as there as Welsh as me,pure English.
Look at one of your posts on the other post sites and it's clear you don't like the Welsh.
That's up to you,but what would you call that?
It's an opioion from my point of view with no malice attached.
We live in a world of political correctness, but as long as there is no malice intended, then you should take some comments as tongue in cheek and not look too deeply to find offence,Just saying.

{Ed007's Note - This whole thread is bizarre! Hasn't guys like Harry Redknapp and Wenger said England managers should be English before? If players need to be eligible to play for a country why isn't it the same for managers?}

9.) 15 Dec 2017 00:22:34
To me edd it's great Britain never understood why we are one country and yet have different football teams.
Olympics it's great Britain and wether your Scots eng Welsh or ni if your successful.you get a knighthood.
Don't see any refusals?
We are better united as a country but football is different as there is a devide from town to town, never mind border to border.

If the country became devided,be a sad day.
Can't stand international football any more anyway, the breaks spoil my Saturdays.

{Ed007's Note - International football's garbage, I lost all respect for it back in '94 when Diana Ross miskicked her penalty at the opening ceremony of the World Cup and the goal still blew up like she had scored. How can you take it seriously after that?
Anyone that accepts a knighthood's worth the watching...... But that's not really for on here ;)

10.) 15 Dec 2017 08:52:43
Grey, the race relations laws are all about combating hatred and bigotry which have no place in a civilised society and certainly no place in football. Also thank goodness English owned homes in Wales are no longer routinely set on fire.

If you burn property it's a small step to start burning people, that type of criminality marked the rise of National Socialism in post Weimer Germany which ended in the Holocaust! If you think I'm over reacting consider the storm that would erupt if a Home Secretary said "we definitely won't have a black, Asian or Jewish person as the next Metropolitan Police Commissioner"!

11.) 15 Dec 2017 09:29:19
Ryan Giggs ticks all the right boxes for getting the Welsh job for getting on with the Wales FA:

1. Commitment - Only played for Wales when Fergie let him out.

2. Loyalty - Cultivates a happy family/team environment, then shafts those closest.

3. Management - 4 matches wearing a nice suit and sitting quietly on the bench. A PR dream!

4. Football Experience - 963 matches having his bottom wiped and every need taken care of by others to get him on the pitch.Just the empathy he needs for dealing with the majority of the Welsh squad.

5. Personality - Has anyone ever heard him say anything meaningful?

This appointment should get them off any breach of race relations law, but might fall foul of the Sale of Goods Act?

12.) 15 Dec 2017 10:14:28
StokeyRed

I would suggest your heart is in the right place, but No Law can change people's mind set.

If you have a belief, be it from your own choosing, or it being drummed into you, no law will change your mind set.

You can hate without it being racial.

History has got the English as a nation of warmongers which other nations, and countries have never forgiven.

Criminal activity is unacceptable, but but i do not believe what was said was a criminal act, otherwise most if not all of us would be jailed for something, or other.

In my opinion Sports and Politics should rarely come together, i would have thought you would be more bothered by the hooligans that are thought to be waiting in Russia.

You are mixing entertainment, which should be FUN with politics which is Serious.

A Home Secretary coming out with what you said would be wrong, but let's face it, it would be very unlikely to happen as with the country having so many different nations, and races evry political party are try to stop that sort of wrong doing by positive selection of others not from England.

13.) 15 Dec 2017 10:15:06
Stokey, it's discrimination then not racism. My point exactly, if you throw the race card about Willy Billy, it loses it's impact. Regarding the police job, the black and Asian candidate would have grounds but the Jewish one only discrimination on the grounds of religious belief. It's a minefield, if he'd said best person for the job, he wouldn't have discounted women either! On no Ed, what have we done? I need a pint. Ps I work in Halewood, still a long way to go before they join the 21st century.๐Ÿ˜‰

14.) 15 Dec 2017 22:46:50
Ok ok enough already! Rant over, sorry if I stirred up a hornets (or should it be dragon's) nest ed! Let's get back to the small matter of our beloved Reds playing the in form 3rd placed Bristol City tomorrow! Just as a closing remark,I lived in Wales for 3 years and met both my wives there and found that 99 per cent of the people were thoroughly decent, hard working, kind and great to be with, one per cent d###heads which is about the same percentage as every other place I've visited or lived in including Nottingham. I have no antipathy towards the Welsh or any other racial or ethnic group and met many Welsh friends. In fact I'm off to Abrearon on Monday for a weeks pre Christmas holiday (seriously) where obviously I will be incognito! As for Ryan Giggs I have no opinion of him whatsoever and as for Russian football hooligans I strongly urge my compatriots to be careful and ideally watch the World Cup from the safety of your living rooms as the Russian hard-core are numerous and organized on para military lines such that they make even Millwall look like fussy cats!

15.) 15 Dec 2017 23:07:27
We are all citizens of the world and our DNA ancestry can be traced back to the early civilizations so what on earth are you all arguing about?

The world would be a better place if everyone claimed Jerusalem as their capital and insisted their country of citizenship opened an embassy there!

At least that way no-one should be offended as a citizen of the world melting pot?

Blue Mink were spot on in 1969!

17.) 16 Dec 2017 10:15:28

18.) 16 Dec 2017 11:16:14
The English still are a nation of warmongers and supporters of genocide if it can make a few billion quid in sales of illegal weapons.

19.) 16 Dec 2017 12:01:22

13 Dec 2017 21:53:33
Just watched Hibs v Rangers, our transfer target McGinn looked head and shoulders above any other midfielder on the pitch. He's energetic, tough, strong and can spray it accurately long and short. He's always wanting the ball and takes a clever free kick! Would be a good acquisition on that performance imo.

StokeyRed

1.) 13 Dec 2017 22:33:23
Think he's always been top of warbos wish list, won't come cheap though had a lot of impressive performances this season

2.) 14 Dec 2017 07:20:04
Clough out, mcginn in it may turn out

3.) 14 Dec 2017 09:48:34
GazzaRed

You could be right, but Dowell will not be here next season so who if Clough goes will replace either him or Dowell in your opinion.

4.) 14 Dec 2017 11:53:42
Just watched the Leicester highlights. While we do not have a Vardy their brand of playing on the front foot and turning the defenders when pressed by the opposition is great to watch and very effective winning football.
Just hope MW gets the right players into play a similar brand of football?

5.) 14 Dec 2017 18:25:21
We won't be able to afford or attract Mcginn. Celtic will get him as Hibs will want ยฃ5-ยฃ8 million. We have no chance whatsoever.

6.) 14 Dec 2017 20:17:17
Pc76

Even if we got him, he would have to hit the ground running. Look at all the Scottish players are rubbish when we got McKay and Cummings, and they cost peanuts to the prices you mention.

7.) 14 Dec 2017 21:46:16
Celtic cannot afford him at ยฃ5-8m and he only has 6 months left on his contract in any event which means circa ยฃ2m max.

It will boil down to wages and how ambitious he is to play in a proper league?

{Ed007's Note - Ex-Celtic chairman's grandson and Celtic season ticket holder Jack McGinn's contract runs until 2019. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a deal hasn't been done already that'll make McGinn's dreams come true and take him to Celtic Park to win trophies and play in the CL. Playing for a Mark Warburton team struggling year after year in the second tier of English football isn't in his immediate plans, maybe if Derby go up this year though......

8.) 14 Dec 2017 22:32:10
Only thing I would say edd,is do you have a crystal ball as he's not been in charge one full season to say we struggle year after year under him?

{Ed007's Note - Well every other club did and I said when he was appointed I didn't see Forest being any different. Warburton won't be Forest manager this time next year, how's that for a prediction?}

9.) 14 Dec 2017 22:58:08
Well see edd but at this moment in time we need some stability and if he fails it's going to be a big upheaval again because mcparland would have to go as well.
Understand your point of view but,you could say half the managers in the league won't be at their current clubs this time next year and you'd be right,it's just the way football is,can't all be winners.
Merry Xmas have a good one and happy New year.

{Ed007's Note - Down in England the majority of managers seems to be about 6 games from the sack and are judged on 6 game cycles, even at some PL clubs, it's crazy. Merry Christmas to you too FF and a happy New Year when it comes.}

10.) 14 Dec 2017 23:34:34
McGinn wonโ€™t come to us, we couldnโ€™t afford him in the summer no chance now. Time to understand where we arenโ€™t ?

06 Dec 2017 18:31:37
Bolton is a must win game imo otherwise questions will be asked to say the least! I'd really strongly urge Warbo to go all out attack and play 442 with Walker or Cummings supporting Murphy up top and a bit of pace down both the wings, Carayol, Ward or McKay. Also either Bridcutt or Vaughn (but not both) covering as defensive midfielder freeing up another place for an attacking midfielder like Dowell or Clough behind the 2 strikers. I did urge this selection against Ipswich with their key defenders injured or suspended but Warburton opted for a sideways, ponderous team which must have pleased McCarthy no end. Bearing in mind our defensive frailties attack is sometimes the best form of defence so for God's sake let's have a bloody go at them on Saturday! COYR!

StokeyRed

1.) 06 Dec 2017 19:06:56
With all respect stokey,he's not going to play 442, walker is starting to get the hang of it on the right and gets himself into scoring positions, agree on Vaughan, looking his age now for me,tries hard but legs have gone, like to see McKay given a free roll in midfield and Carayol on the left, but I'm confident we'll win know matter what team he puts out, only other thing he might change is go three at the back, can't see any other formationbeing put out.

2.) 06 Dec 2017 21:26:29
I'm not feeling good about Saturday, Bolton will not be a pushover, and our defence looks non-existent, let's hope the fans can inspire the lads, as a win before the next round of tough matches is a must.

3.) 06 Dec 2017 22:35:45
How would anybody like to change our defence ?? Eric is very popular and can do no wrong. Worrall plays for England under 21. Mancienne is the captain and a great defender and Trarore. My view is the midfield donโ€™t help the defence or they are not organised or itโ€™s Zonal marking can anyone tell me why 4 very good players let in so many goals or is it Smith that is the root of the problem

4.) 06 Dec 2017 23:10:41
It's more the midfield for me doc, they havn't got a tackle in em.
All I see is midfield backing off or sticking legs out, hence the amount of free kicks we concede in bad areas.
Osborn for all his energy hasn't got a tackle in him, that's why he doesn't get suspended with bookings he just backs off,Vaughan hasn't got the legs for it,Dowells not got a tackle in him,McKay hasn't,Carayol certainly hasn't,boukalkis for all his build hasn't,Bridcutt goes in and gets booked most games and is probably just about the best we've got.
It's a soft midfield, imo we need a least one solid defensive midfielder, otherwise we will carry on conceding.
On the defence as well as conceding they don't score either, that has to change.
Long term to be successful you need goals from all over the park.
Full backs need to get a few one centre half needs to chip in with 5.
Midfield other than Dowell and McKay there are no goals, that's a reason I'd sell Osborn if any takers,he runs all day can't tackle and can't score more than 2 to five a season ,same with Vaughan and Bridcutt, for me that's a lot of the problem,I'm sure that's been noted and if like to see us sell Osborn and bring in stronger players to allow the likes of McKay clough Dowell to show their class, they are the boys who have that defence splitting pass and can score.

Definately the defence for me??? Couldn't "defend" a set-piece for toffee!!! Just look at the GA column.

6.) 07 Dec 2017 09:28:38
I agree FF79, the defence is not the problem but the midfieldโ€™s defensive skills. Lansbury is a missing link and a younger combative injury free Chris Cohen

7.) 07 Dec 2017 13:30:58
You are joking doc m. Did you see Lansbury's tackles - most of them cost us a yellow or red card. He had no idea how to tackle. We won't see CC back I'm afraid, sadly his days are over.

8.) 07 Dec 2017 20:33:48
The dynamics of the midfield, and the defence are the areas that need improvement.

Just a few pros and cons regarding the numerous posts relating to Mark Warburton. Firstly I think it's disrespectful to disparage him as an ex merchant banker with no football background. He's had considerable success with Brentford and Rangers and anyway what about Wenger and Morinho? Secondly, we need stability this season, mid table will do, let's get our beloved Club out of intensive care, bring our youngsters through, (with a few experienced model pros as mentors), build for the future. Thirdly, I do see a faint light at the end of the tunnel that was the Fawaz era let's stay with him. Lastly, I'm not a so called "happy clapper " where Warburton can do no wrong it's healthy to have debate and opinions. For example I don't think atm he utilizes his squad fully and his team selection and substitutions are sometimes puzzling. The January transfer window might represent an interesting opportunity to unload a few out of favour players and tweak things a bit. Jota at Birmingham, for example looks like the sort of playmaker we haven't had since Reidy?

Good post stokey - i'm not too sure on the 'considerable success' part but everything else is bang on.
Carlo - i'm surprised that you agree with most of stokeys post? your own posts do not seem to be on the same wavelength as his post? maybe I've been misreading your posts or you are coming round to a more settled point of view??

I agree with most of what you say FF. i'd certainly adopt a defensive but swift counter attacking posture.Certainly,Eric needs to be in his best position, right back which means a recall to Traore to balance the team at left back. Mills and Worrall centre to combat their aerial threat, then cover with 2 defensive midfielders Bridcutt and either Vaughn or Bouchlakis probably Vaughn. I'd give Ward a start as his work ethic will wear them down then introduce pace down the flanks 2nd half with Carayol or Walker and McKay though it would be harsh to drop Walker after last week's excellent performance v Bolton. Then Murphy to start up top and Brereton to come on when the Irishman starts to tire. As for attacking midfielder behind the lone striker in a 4231 it's a toss up,in order of preference between Dowell, Osbourne or Clough. I await the team news tomorrow with great interest but we 'll need to work very very hard to even get a point, which would be excellant

It will have no effect on Nffc whatsoever unless Mr M is convicted by the Greek courts when his "fit and proper" status to manage an English club will be reviewed. However firstly it would seem highly unlikely that he will be convicted and secondly due to the parlous and ponderous nature of the Greek justice system we 'll all have died of old age long before!

I'm amazed Warbo s game plan v Chelsea was to try to out pass a n d out football them. It must have been like the Charge of the Light Brigade heroic but suicidal! As one French general watching at the brave 600 said "C est magnifique mais ne c est pas last guerre" ie it's magnificent but it's not the right way to fight a battle" against impossible odds! So come on Warbo give the lads a bloody chance and be more dogged and pragmatic!

I'm 61 this month Trevor! Saw my first Forest match when I was 9 and remember that great team of 1967 grumitt hindley Winfield,Hennessey,McKinley,Newton Lyons Barnwell,Storey Moore,Baker, wignall . We d have done the double that year but Labone nobbled Joe Baker when we beat Everton 3 _2 fa cup 6th round. I was in the Trent End with my dad and I swear to God when Moore scored the 3rd I jumped up and my feet didn't reach the ground for about 5 minutes because the crowd was so tightly packed! Have a great Christmas Trevor!
