Just a couple of bits of gossip fellow Reds! My daughter is Leicester City Academy physio and was at the under 23 game yesterday. Firstly, high praise for the conduct of MON, Keeno and Chris Cohen, gentlemen all, very friendly and aporoachable, especially when s he told them we were passionate Forest fans. A Leicester lad got a bad knock and they expressed their concern as to his welfare and clearly took a great interest in the lads despite the atrocious weather, so well done. Secondly, word is Leicesters dreadful helicopter disaster did us a favour because they were definitely going to sack Puell and get MON back then but decided it wouldn't look good! Lastly, chatting to the Forest Academy lads afterwards about Karanka they said towards the end of his tenure he hardly went to training at all and when he did he gave no input and just stood on his own on the touchline. Very odd!

Good info Stokey.

2.) 01 Mar 2019 18:56:03
Nice one stokey👍

3.) 01 Mar 2019 21:28:56
Welcome back stokey,I know you didn't like karanka going, but it was his choice and the owners can't be blamed for it and now they are going to build us a fine new stand,it's all good.
It's quite funny really because if karanka left because of the DOF appointment then marinakis has been proved right in bringing him in with the best centre backs we've signed for many years.

4.) 02 Mar 2019 11:33:05
It certainly seems like fate has intervened to bring the whole Forest family together and make us stronger. Delighted to see and hear the fans at home are raising the roof for the run in as its now about small margins and we all need to stick together and get behind the lads!

5.) 02 Mar 2019 11:42:20
Agreed red hope we have turned the corner possible playoffs the ground being upgraded happy days spare five seconds to the sadpies looks like they are going out of business!no sympathy from me for hardy

12 Jan 2019 22:05:06
Well that's the players response to Karanka leaving! Glad you saw that Marinakis great job! So the New manager will inherit a right crock (and no available central defenders! ) Forget playoffs! Great job well done!

Just a few points from Leeds game.

One. The team want to play for Karanka

Two. It would be extremely foolish and counter productive to sack him at this crucial stage of the season.

Three. Leeds are a superb side under a brilliant coach. Even with 10 men they attacked and looked sharper than us in all departments. But its extremely difficult to play at that tempo for 90 minutes and we cashed in at the end as they tired. I hate to say it but I fancy Leeds to go up automatically.

Four. Karanka managed a difficult situation superbly with a disrupted back four, no Grabban and with Likely a passenger. Bringing in Benny was a masterstroke, the last thing a tiring team want is him buzzing around.

Lastly, the foul leading to the straight Red was bad but only as bad as the one on Pants by the Millwall lad which led to a yellow only. By the way can somebody find a way to dissolve the superglue which sticks Pants to his line?

Coyr! Let's get behind Karanka and the boys.

StokeyRed

1.) 02 Jan 2019 00:32:51
karankas got that, its called your out the team mate.

2.) 02 Jan 2019 15:01:36
After the great reception ak got i think the club chairman should say weather there is any truth that the manager is going or staying after all i think the supporters need to know what happend to keeping ing touch with fans that was promised?

11 Aug 2018 23:20:14
Don't worry fellow trickies we were playing a team that were well organized had had 8 days rest as opposed to our 3 days after high intensity games v Wba and Bristol City. I thought Geddy, Grabba, Carvalho and Dias particularly were running on empty but luckily Colback, Fox (immaculate today), Figgy Darikwa, and the subs Soundani and Cash stepped up to the plate to cover for their tired colleagues. I'm a fan of Benny Osbourne but he's not a left back (too small and lacks pace) and he will cost us goals over the season. So give the boys a rest and team for Bury should be Smith, Byrom, Watson, Dawson, Bridcutt, Brereton, Worrall, Heffer, supplemented by a few academy lads like Yates, Gomis etc. Great result today against a fresh team.

StokeyRed

1.) 12 Aug 2018 09:51:27
Agreed Stokey, completely different 11 for Bury.Give the new boys a run out.Maybe try 3 at the back.Give Brereton and Soudani 90 mins as well.

11 Feb 2018 13:56:37
Well fellow trickies, these are dark days indeed! I got caught in the queue on the A50 yesterday and missed the first 20 minutes and by the end of the game I wished I'd missed the next 70 as well! I think it was Einstein who said it's the height of scientific folly / madness to keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome.

The bulk of the team (and I'm not talking about Tomlin here) were the same as the crew who took part in the Preston, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull in the cup disasters! So for me it's; drop Mancienne, Fox, Dowell for starters and bring in the newbies, fit or not, like Watson and the new centre back and left back plus a bit of zip down the wings with Lolley and the Ex fulham winger.

Osbourne is wasted on the wing with his lack of pace. Only Cashy and Colback deserve to keep their place on yesterday's performance, Tomlin looked good but clearly not fit, Vellious isolated and don't even get me started on conceding a headed goal inside the six yard box from a corner with a 6 ft 8 goalie! I think we'll stay up but it's time for some drastic surgery!

StokeyRed

1.) 11 Feb 2018 14:24:07
Think you are spot on with your analysis of yesterday's woeful effort, the only addition I would include would be two up front. Having said that to be fair to Vellios, we gave him no service and twice zero is still zero!

2.) 11 Feb 2018 15:34:37
is there a clause in Dowell's contract that he has to play?
He was woeful yesterday but played the whole game
AK says changes will be made so Saturday at 2 o'clock will be interesting when the team is announced

3.) 11 Feb 2018 16:05:51
Dowell has been the worst player in the team for the last 8 games or so. If there is a clause that states he has to play every game then send him back to Everton

4.) 11 Feb 2018 16:42:01
got to agree Pc76, they raved about him when he bagged 3 against Hull at tgeolir place but done very little since
New players in so let him go and save a few quid

5.) 11 Feb 2018 17:54:27
Stoked, agree but Osborn is dire ste the minute

6.) 12 Feb 2018 08:50:49
The best game Osborn played for Forest was off the striker why not try again.

I regret to say that my earlier post turned out to be a correct prediction of yesterday's match. We looked drained after the intensity of the Derbyshire game a nd never looked like getting anywhere near that level of commitment against a mediocre Stoke side. I could tell we just weren't up for it in the from minute ten, the tackles weren't snapping in, no aggression, no passion. This attitude was typified with their first goal, nobody put a foot in, a poor goal to concede. Big Murphy, Yates, Lolley ect ran themselves into the ground against the sheep and you could tell they looked drained. They're fit physicaly but looked mentally gone. I was right about the ref as well, a real "homer". Couldn't wait to add Keen to his trophy cabinet! Our fans were superb, sorry I couldn't join you but at least I didn't get ejected as they was nothing much to get excited about with that performance! We need Grab one and Cashy back asap or we can forget the playoffs. However we move on so Coyr!

Can't really add anything to creepy excellent match summary except the following. Firstly don't know how Brentford are in the lower half of the table, they were superb, fast slick, quick and great to watch.
Secondly Yates looked as if he d played in midfield for 200 games and looked the part throughout.
Thirdly impressed by MON being prepared to act decisively and make a change at half time. Not sure if Goncalves was the answer but it so nearly was!
Lastly, liked his attacking selection generally prepared to go for to toe with the league's in form team.

StokeyRed

1.) 10 Feb 2019 22:16:12
I thought Grabban and Yates both had good games, but I also think Watson was outstanding!

I know he gets some stick but even in the face of adversity he got stuck in won the ball, and almost got himself a goal but found a keeper in good form on the penalty rebound.

In fact apart from Pants, Janko, and osbourne (playing out of position though I suppose) they all came off with some credit. Let’s hope for the same against WBA on Tuesday with just a bit more composure on the ball instead of panic passes and easy lumps forward which we tended to do a bit more than I would of liked.

08 Feb 2019 21:53:06
Just watched Villa v Blades! Great game, played at great pace, a real advert for Championship football. Struck me that here were two TEAMS not a collection of directionless demoralized individuals like we have with my beloved Reds! MON s been given a very difficult job without a pre season to change things.

Huge mistake not to give Karanka until the end of the season at least! About as big a mistake as not signing Billy Sharpe when we had the chance! Both teams tonight had a system and discipline where everyone looked as though they knew what they were doing. Thoughts?

StokeyRed

1.) 09 Feb 2019 00:26:39
They both failed in one discipline, it's called how to defend, shocking defending if anyone is being honest, three nil up and coasting but the paper would suggest they are crap, what's villas excuse?

2.) 09 Feb 2019 09:19:02
Henderson in goal for the blades was Agent Pantamilion in disguise 😂😂😂😂

3.) 09 Feb 2019 09:48:12
Wasn't the Sheffield team built by N. Clough when he was there?

11 Jan 2019 18:28:20
I think Karankas been treated abysmally shame on you Marinakos. I think we can give up on top six this season fellow Reds but due to Aitor we have enough points already to avoid relegation worries. Good on you Aitor you behaved honourabley and told the big Greek where to stick it. Good luck to a proud Basque, thanks for steadying the ship and getting us on track.

StokeyRed

1.) 11 Jan 2019 18:38:41
One 👍 and one 👎 Stokey. I get what you're trying to say but think there's a whole lot more to this story than meets the eye. Maranakis has steadied the ship and put a proper structure in place. I will give him one last chance to get the right man. After that, he's morphing into Fawaz.😐

2.) 11 Jan 2019 18:51:37
So you've enjoyed watching the home games this season stokey? Hmmmm
Karanka has decided to go,he hasn't been sacked and yet your having a go at the owner who has filled the city ground despite some woeful performances?
Shame on you and all the rest who can't see past karankas poor home record and can't see the bigger picture that the owner wants success and it wouldn't have happened by winning the odd game.
You'll all forget when a new man comes in and gets the best out of this squad with better tactics.
The owner has made the city ground a good place to visit again with all amenities open and his kind donations to local causes and bringing kids back to the ground whoes parents would not be able to afford otherwise.
So think on before you have a go at the owners, they will be successful

3.) 11 Jan 2019 19:06:13
We've all banged on all season bout the home form and karankas refusal to tactically Change at home when playing mid to bottom teams this as cost us at least 10 points. With those points we would be on heels of Norwich and Leeds.
Jokanovic will get us firing at home.
But he will need backing as we still need a
Keeper
Left back maybe
Centre back
Winger
Forward

4.) 11 Jan 2019 19:10:47
799, I feel you do not understand what some are saying.

It is not, with RIE being the exception that they think Aitor is the holy grail of managers, that his teams play wonderful football, and anything else you can think of, Not At All.

It is just the case that history has repeated itself to some degree.

Just outside the play offs, having just beaten Leeds 4-2 and a bit of impatience from the owner.

You said yourself that he should have been sacked sooner. I said myself he should have either been sacker sooner, or later than he has.

Your statistics on his record with us make for some poor reading, but even with those statistics we are close to the play offs.

It just goes to show our owner will not mess about to try to get success, but again it should have been sooner, or later, not today.

5.) 11 Jan 2019 19:11:43
Am i the only one that sees the money an has wasted players brought in and clearly not good enough.i think we all should realise this is a business

6.) 11 Jan 2019 19:29:01
LC the bottom line is he hasn't been sacked,He's said so himself,he asked to be released from his contract.
It's his timing,he would have been in the dugout if he'd wanted,he didn't,no blame on the owners.

7.) 11 Jan 2019 19:42:40
Who ever comes in it won't be long before the knives are out.
Shouldnt have got him
never rated him
what has he won
boring to watch
should be thrashing everyone at home
owners got his finger on trigger
Its been the same old same old last 10 years or so.
so sad

8.) 11 Jan 2019 19:50:29
Good post FF.
Krankie had his chance to shine but he hasn't.
We aren't in a bad position and it could be a lot worse.
Hopefully marinakis has a game plan and will install a manager ASAP.
Despite the divided opinions it is what is Krankie has gone!
As long as the owner has the clubs best interests at heart then do be it!
Get behind the club.

9.) 11 Jan 2019 20:05:20
799, I know i'm only guessing, but in my opinion his working relationship with the owner got so bad, maybe they are as bad as each other.

The owner then decides he wanted rid of him so kept pushing knowing full well how he would react.

In the mean time the owner put the feelers out for a new manager, once the owner knew a deal with a manager is close the owner made his move.

He took one more pop at Aitor, when the owner got the reaction he wanted he might have said, this just is not working out, how about we work out a compensation pack, we sign an agreement that we say only certain things to the media and that way we both get something near the best that is possible.

I could be wide of the mark, just like you could be wrong to believe what both have said to the media.

Either way he has gone and as usual at the games we will be cheering the team on.

10.) 11 Jan 2019 20:11:26
Yes it’s strange , when you go on a banter boards you tend to get other people’s opinions

11.) 11 Jan 2019 21:46:10
Can’t believe some fans can’t see that his win record was poor an we are only 7th cus this season a lot of teams are beating each other, he played dire football at home cus he was a counter attacking manager and he’s walked so couldn’t handle the pressure that was coming from above cus they want a return from their investment - mind boggles, the owner as done more than enough to get us back on the right track, 5 years of being a ghost club n now we get over 25k fans every week doing far more off the field just on field needs to click

12.) 11 Jan 2019 20:32:37
Trentender, think you are about right. Unless you beat Burton 9-0 every week you are doomed.

13.) 11 Jan 2019 20:32:46
Karanka was forced to leave, it's called constructive dismissal. The fact he might have something lined up at Madrid, makes the break easier. Owners are happy because they want a yes man?

14.) 11 Jan 2019 20:34:01
Stevie f, don't you just, how dare they. 😁

15.) 11 Jan 2019 20:34:24
Best just to accept he's gone and move on, not interested what could have happened, it's done and we have three very winnable games to come.
Get behind the team and no stupid demos against marinakis, there aren't many out there willing to buy a club that is worth nothing as it owns nothing.

16.) 11 Jan 2019 22:45:10
Scouse how was he forced?
He quit did he not?
No point reflecting on what's happened it's time to look ahead and see what happens next.
Maybe in time we will find out what happened but until then it's time to a grip and move on.
Marinakis has put in structure and steered the forest ship on a better course since the fawaz days,I'll agree he's trigger happy and doesn't like poor results but things happen for a reason.
A new manager will step in and he'll have to hit the ground running and they will realise marinakis won't suffer fools.
So keep our heads up as all it not lost yet!

I'm shocked and surprised that Anderlecht are one of the Belgian clubs being investigated for fraud NOT!

StokeyRed

1.) 10 Oct 2018 19:22:58
That club should have been kicked out of football completely decades ago.

2.) 10 Oct 2018 20:38:10
I look forward to the day when football's governing bodies actually grow a pair! Although I will not be holding my breath.

3.) 10 Oct 2018 22:26:34
If what happened to us that night in Belgium had happened to arsenal or spurs a much bigger deal would have been made of it.cos it was forest it was quickly forgotten it was an absolute disgrace, and Anderlecht should had at least a lengthy retrospective European competition ban.

4.) 11 Oct 2018 07:07:24
Totally agree about the " big clubs" Stevie.I think Anderlecht for banned for a season. Punitive if you ask me!

5.) 11 Oct 2018 11:13:57
Lol evidently someone on here thinks what anderlecht did was ok judging by the thumbs down I got

{Ed001's Note - could you remind me (and anyone out there who doesn't know) what they did?}

6.) 11 Oct 2018 11:38:50
Only bribed a ref ed

{Ed001's Note - that's right, sorry it had slipped my mind. Thank you. I knew it was something major, but you know when it just won't come to mind when you think of it? The harder you try and remember the more it eludes you.}

7.) 11 Oct 2018 12:11:25
Ed know that feeling well mate lol

{Ed001's Note - at least now I am getting older I have an excuse for forgetting.}

8.) 11 Oct 2018 16:55:27

Calm down fellow Reds and stay with Karanka! If Dias had put his boot through it with the last kick of the game we d be in 7th place a point adrift!Admittedly Dias was a strange choice as sub but it must have AK tearing his hair out!The Real Madrid team he was at the heart of would have kept the ball for most of the remaining minutes so the opposition wouldn't have had a sniff!

Incidentally those of us who want to cash in on our academy products should remember that Dawson,Reid,Jenas,Lascelles etc have had their best years at other clubs and we have not reaped the long term benefits of our nurturing. Short term profits can lead to long term decline!

Retford can't remember Smith making many mistakes and he kept us up last season v Ipswich. Hasn't done much wrong and suddenly he's 3rd choice.I feel sorry for him, very unlucky imo.Hopefully he 'll keep working and prove AK wrong. Must be a bit demotivatedthough but he's young and will bounce back.

Think I'd take a point against Villa on Wednesday to be honest.I don't understand why Mcginn didn't start he ran the midfield with Grealish when he came on. Mings looked solid and they've s always got a goal or two in them with Abraham,Adomah etc.

Tough game today I think! Potters crowd are very very vocal and partisan and the ref looks like a "homer" for sure, plus I just can't see us playing with the amazing intensity and commitment we showed against the sheep . I hope I'm wrong but I can see this being a draw when we need a win. Good news is I live only 15 mins from the 365 stadium, bad news is ill have to sit amongst Stoke fans and somehow contain myself. If you see an old git being escorted out you 'll know I failed! Coyr!

I think the likes of Appiah will only be played when the chase for a play off place is over and we are securely mid table unless it's a cameo role. That's the price you pay for swapping managers mid season I'm afraid but I hope I'm wrong and MON can get some momentum. He needs imo to have either a defensive/counter attacking set up like 4231 especially today against an in form Bees team who are bookies favourites. So, with the players available I'd go Pants,Darikwa/Janko,Milovovic and Wague cubs with Robinson lb. Two holding midfielders Yacoub and Geddy,Lolley Cash down the flanks,Grabban/Bonatini up top with Carvalho just behind. On the bench Osbourne,Appiah,Murphy,Watson,Pele. And for God's sake play the ball on the bloody grass not in the air!
