Well fellow trickies, these are dark days indeed! I got caught in the queue on the A50 yesterday and missed the first 20 minutes and by the end of the game I wished I'd missed the next 70 as well! I think it was Einstein who said it's the height of scientific folly / madness to keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome.

The bulk of the team (and I'm not talking about Tomlin here) were the same as the crew who took part in the Preston, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull in the cup disasters! So for me it's; drop Mancienne, Fox, Dowell for starters and bring in the newbies, fit or not, like Watson and the new centre back and left back plus a bit of zip down the wings with Lolley and the Ex fulham winger.

Osbourne is wasted on the wing with his lack of pace. Only Cashy and Colback deserve to keep their place on yesterday's performance, Tomlin looked good but clearly not fit, Vellious isolated and don't even get me started on conceding a headed goal inside the six yard box from a corner with a 6 ft 8 goalie! I think we'll stay up but it's time for some drastic surgery!

1.) 11 Feb 2018 14:24:07
Think you are spot on with your analysis of yesterday's woeful effort, the only addition I would include would be two up front. Having said that to be fair to Vellios, we gave him no service and twice zero is still zero!

2.) 11 Feb 2018 15:34:37
is there a clause in Dowell's contract that he has to play?
He was woeful yesterday but played the whole game
AK says changes will be made so Saturday at 2 o'clock will be interesting when the team is announced

3.) 11 Feb 2018 16:05:51
Dowell has been the worst player in the team for the last 8 games or so. If there is a clause that states he has to play every game then send him back to Everton

4.) 11 Feb 2018 16:42:01
got to agree Pc76, they raved about him when he bagged 3 against Hull at tgeolir place but done very little since
New players in so let him go and save a few quid

5.) 11 Feb 2018 17:54:27
Stoked, agree but Osborn is dire ste the minute

6.) 12 Feb 2018 08:50:49
The best game Osborn played for Forest was off the striker why not try again.

Was going to post this after Sunderland game but got lost in the turmoil of it being Warbos last game! Just felt sorry for Vaughn, best player on the pitch, didn't waste a pass and didn't stop working for the team in a losing cause, but ended up at 5 ft 7 trying to defend the cross against a couple of 6 footers because Mancienne had gone walkabout! Also thought the goal was a microcosm of Forests defending this season with an innocuous break then Lichaj and Brereton not pressing their winger who had all the time in the world to cross the ball! Idleness and slackness which I think Karanka would stamp out very quickly!

No thanks to more drip drip drip football!

2.) 03 Jan 2018 00:50:03
Stokey, McGeady is 5'11", even a 5'7" midfielder could've jumped with him and put off his header. Trouble is no one was marking him, we may as well have given him the key to the City (ground).

3.) 03 Jan 2018 08:03:27
Said it all stokey,Whoever comes in will have bring on a couple of strong midfielders to replace the likes of Vaughan, too small to weak and to old.
Any side that gives the ball away cheaply in midfield will get punished.we do it all the time.
Manciene the same to weak.

4.) 03 Jan 2018 12:30:55
Ha ha ff79 we agree again. Its becoming a habitπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

5.) 03 Jan 2018 23:15:50
Any players signed this window should have pace as we attack to slow! Also taller players welcome as we have no threat from corners / dead ball situations.

22 Oct 2017 00:39:06
By the way what's our Nigel going on about saying post match "we can't bemoan referee ing decisions". He can't because, though I think Stroud is usually poor, today he got most things right today including the shout against Jordan Smith for a penalty when he clearly got the ball first before clattering into the Burton lad.

StokeyRed

1.) 22 Oct 2017 09:23:25
Was it smith who clattered dyer or dyer who clattered smith or both ran into each other.both running towards the ball both making and attempt to get the ball but smith got there first.you can’t stop mid air.even Phil brown said it was a penalty, imagine of that was given agaisnt clough and brown!

2.) 22 Oct 2017 23:34:14
Was in my seat directly in line with it,far as I'm concerned two honest players going for the ball.
Smith got his fist to it first.
His he then supposed to do a double summalsolt to jump over the player coming at him.?
Good goalkeeping and more importantly, good decision making from a young goalkeeper

17 Sep 2017 22:40:51
Suggested team v Chelsea working on the premises that firstly we want to prioritise game v Villa on Saturday, secondly give our fringe players a run out and lastly to keep the score down to a respectable level to maintain our morale bearing in mind we won't see much of the ball in all probability I'd go 4231 with Henderson lichaj rb Hobbes ancients central and Fox left back, then 2 defensive midfielders Vaughn Bouchalakis (even risk young Edser if Vaughn not fit) then Ward (if fit) or Carayol left, Clough central and Cummings right with Velious up top subs walker, and a couple of the academy lads like Gomiz, Ahadomedvic? Mighten? Thoughts, fellow trickies?

Think we could be in for a tonking Wednesday night.
Hazard will start apparently. MW will try and go toe to toe with them and I fear a cricket score.
Hope I'm wrong.

2.) 17 Sep 2017 23:11:46
Spellchecker alert Mancienne came out as "ancients" for some reason probably because of the ancient git typing it!

3.) 18 Sep 2017 16:22:54
I put a cheeky 10 on us doing Chelsea 2-1

4.) 19 Sep 2017 19:17:08
Henderson
Lichaj Hobbs Fox Traore
Edser Vaughan
Carayol Clough Ward
Walker

Well, that makes a refreshing change! Just read Mr Randalls open letter and am very very impressed! At last a brutally honest assessment of the dire straits our beloved Club is in and a realistic plan to get things back on track from a thoroughly reputable man that's not based on pure fantasy and propaganda. It's not going to be easy to stop the rot but as Mao said in a journey of a thousand miles you have to take the first step. So let's have patience fellow reds as we 're all in this for the long haul. I m particularly excited by the community, youth and fans participation, reduction in prices, promise of attractive passing football and living within our means. It's a lifeline for God's sake let's grab it! COYR!

1.) 02 Jun 2017 06:06:16
It sounds as though it will be one step back to get 2 steps forward i.e losing one or maybe two players to get on the straight and narrow (hope ok wrong) but if that happens how will the fans react at first? britt or Ben might go to help with ffp and before getting ahead of ourselves thinking big money will be spent let's keep level heads and accept that it will take time to sort th me club out.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 20:13:44
Flowing positivity from UTF again haha.

Daws will be a great signing provided we can keep him fit. I fancy Figs and him at centre back with Worrall and Fox as back up. We could get rid of mancienne or keep him as a versatile squad player. :) happy days! Coyr.

1.) 31 May 2018 07:39:22
Be interesting to see who's captain next season and I'd say Dawson?
Will that make Watson unhappy?

2.) 31 May 2018 09:19:25
Watson is man enough!

3.) 31 May 2018 11:28:54
Can't have enough 'leaders' on the pitch. AK will decide.

4.) 31 May 2018 11:35:40
Scouseduckred, i think we are only allowed 11 leaders on the pitch. 😁 😁

5.) 31 May 2018 12:19:05
If only we did.😁

07 May 2018 13:48:02
Don't worry too much about the Bolton game fellow reds but just a couple of observations. Why didn't AK give a couple of Academy lads a run out like Edser and Gomis even for a few minutes as subs to test they're temperaments in that red hot hostile environment? Bugger respecting the competition and Huddersfield didn't get pinged for putting a weak team out v Brum last season which almost cost us. Also why put Hobbes in for 90 minutes in that heat? He was dead on his feet last half hour not surprised we folded late on. Also Darikwa can't defend a nd was badly at fault for there winner and looked defensively shakey all afternoon . I see Eric as regular right back with Darikwa as more attacking wing back or back up winger. Michael Dawson yes please! Get him in asap.

StokeyRed

{Ed001's Note - the rules have changed since last season, you are no longer allowed to make wholesale changes for the final match of the season.}

1.) 07 May 2018 14:20:10
Thanks ed but surely we d have got awAy with one or two perhaps?

{Ed001's Note - sorry I meant you couldn't have done what Huddersfield did last season. I should have pointed out what I meant more clearly apologies.}

2.) 07 May 2018 15:33:12
No apology needed ed my post was very ambiguous to say the least. Also I didn't know the rules regarding putting out weaker teams had changed so thanks for that information

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

3.) 07 May 2018 16:24:10
A good reason for not making those changes was that if they played rubbish some of the less educated would of moaned about them not being ready for it.tjose players should be left until pre season and put in with the senior squad then.whats the point putting them in with the top boys when they’ve been playing lesser football?give them a pre season and a real chance to show there worth.

07 May 2018 12:07:27
Just few thoughts on the possible future shape of our squad. Imo the core should be Osbourne, Lichaj, Darikwa, Lolley, Figuereido, Worrall, Fox, Bridcutt, Watson, Cash, Brereton, .
Definitely out, Hobbes, (sadly) Vaughn (sadly) Walker
Up for debate Booch (too slow and in consistent), Murphy too old but then again Wilbraham at 38 ran us ragged on Saturday, Velious I personally would retain, Mancienne for his versatility as a squad player.
To come in Tomlinson, Pants, Colback (season long loan as we probably can't afford him) . Then there are the unknowns like Soundani, Max Clarke, the 2 Peterborough lads ect. I'd probably unload Cummings and McKay both perhaps on loan to see how they developed, and give Ariyibi and Yates a chance. Supported by the up and coming Academy lads, Gomis, Edser. If we get Pants then Kapino as 2nd goalkeeper the unlucky Smith out on loan. That gives you a tight squad of about 25 there's probably someone I've forgoten but any thoughts fellow trickies?

I’m shocked at how many won’t or can’t spell osborn’s name properly.commkn decency to at least get his name right.he deserves that at least,he was our player of the season.

I haven't seen Tomlin make a tackle yet but what a player! He ran the midfield on Saturday. I don't think he's a Warnock type player too much of a luxury but what a playmaker. He d be a excellent signing imo with a few "hod carriers" around him as Eric Cantona would have said!

StokeyRed

1.) 30 Apr 2018 16:20:55

Incidentally those of us who want to cash in on our academy products should remember that Dawson,Reid,Jenas,Lascelles etc have had their best years at other clubs and we have not reaped the long term benefits of our nurturing. Short term profits can lead to long term decline!

Retford can't remember Smith making many mistakes and he kept us up last season v Ipswich. Hasn't done much wrong and suddenly he's 3rd choice.I feel sorry for him, very unlucky imo.Hopefully he 'll keep working and prove AK wrong. Must be a bit demotivatedthough but he's young and will bounce back.

Great win and some great eye catching goals as well.I've got to respectfully take issue with you Clough over your Holloway comments though! Didn't he say Forest fans were a "class act" when we applauded his play off winning Blackpool team at the City Ground when they d deservedly beat us? Of course,he is as mad as a box of frogs but great fun and like his team's usually very entertaining!

Imo great news but if he's not performing Clough and Osbourne can do his role as attacking midfielder probably Cashy as well. That,in my book,is good competition and should the lad on his toes!

Yes Carlo Johnny Carey's team of 66/67 was wonderful to watch! We d have won the double that year if Brian Labone hadn't nobbled Joe Baker in the FA cup 6th round.I often used to chat to Bob Mckinlay about it when I was at the old Guildhall Court. Talking of which do you remember seeing Frank Wignall running the old Forest Service Station on Tollhouse Hill and John Winfield at his newsagents shop in the Victoria Centre? My God they'd be multi millionaires now ,playing in this era!
