Saw that Forest are looking at Dean Marney from Burnley, contract runs out at the end of the season, 34 yrs old. Anyone know what he's like?

Tdog

1.) 22 Apr 2018 10:00:42
OLD!
CARLO

2.) 22 Apr 2018 14:32:58
I'm worried the average age of our squad may be in the low 30's next season. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the value of adding experience but we also need to add some quality young prospects.

3.) 22 Apr 2018 16:52:55
You may well be right Gazza, but it has not happened yet. I would argue our youth get too much playing time when both owners and fans want us to be at least be challenging for the play offs.

That situation needs our youth to be brought on gradually, by starting now and again, and coming off the bench regularly. Youth need time to develop so playing too often results suffer.

So do we develop youth, or do we go for possible play off contention.?

4.) 22 Apr 2018 17:02:02
Going by what Krankie said after the match regarding experienced heads then Marney and Dawson could be 2 of the players that come in the summer.

5.) 22 Apr 2018 18:52:33
Marney has played 30 odd games in last three seasons. average 10per season. He has had 3 ACL injuries. He has been pictured with his agent talking to Karanka. He is 34!!!

He could be CHRIS Cowens replacement!!!!!!

6.) 22 Apr 2018 20:04:06
Sounds like we're going to be laying a lot of crocks again after trying to offload a few of them hope we have a big squad to cover the injured next season.

7.) 23 Apr 2018 09:02:08
Can't see this happening, would not improve the squad at all.

Like to see us put a bid in for Lewis Grabban, a player that can hold up the ball and score goals! Not a premiership standard player but very good championship level, last year of contract at Bournemouth worth a punt if villa don't try and land him first.

8.) 23 Apr 2018 14:36:54
Hope not. We need good championship players with plenty of legs who can play week in week out at the top level.

9.) 24 Apr 2018 14:59:33
Might be a case of "Don't tell'em Pike!!!"

10.) 24 Apr 2018 18:32:53
Karanka has spoken to Marney today. Why oh why?

11.) 26 Apr 2018 09:13:50
Hay major oak your post 17 april still waiting for news from the horses mouth leaving it it a bit late me thinks fake news !!!!😁

12.) 26 Apr 2018 10:20:39
I heard this last week with many others from a senior club official. I’ll repeat hopefully news this week regarding the City Ground and training ground. My assumption is a new main stand and agreed by others. There was no definite news this week just possibly as soon as this week.

13.) 26 Apr 2018 11:21:14
There will be an announcement to do with training facilities and infrastructure of the club and the city ground is how I've heard it.
This could mean many things?
Think too much being read into it for it to be a new stand at this point in their short tenancy.
But you never know.

14.) 28 Apr 2018 19:53:49
Personally would prefer someone younger but he is the sort of player we could do with. what’s he like? Somewhere between Cohen and Paul McKenna.

31 Dec 2017 13:19:54
Will Forest seek to appoint another Sporting Director?

Tdog

1.) 31 Dec 2017 14:46:27
If that's what works at Olympiakos then it will be put in place here.

11 Jan 2015 08:12:55
Pearce, coaching staff and players all having big meeting with Fawaz today to try and sort out what's going on. Pearce and Fawaz also having separate meeting.

Tdog

1.) 11 Jan 2015 09:28:02
That will do a lot of good!

Silly coaching ideas need to go - not working

Target man in

Play long ball preserve our champ status try and play the way we want next season.

Someone said last week we lack an identity - spot on.

We should go long ball as we don't have the confidence to play football, carrying as we are will be disastrous for the club as it Will only end one way now.

2.) There does not need to be a meeting to find out was it wrong - Too many team changes, poor team selection, lack of motivation, manager tactically inept, poor substitutions, no fight or pride, no leaders on the pitch, too much obsessions with the missing injured players. Opposition want it much more than us.

3.) We cannot play football without andy reid. Whilst he's gone we need a plan which could be to play more direct (hate saying long ball). I do think SP and staff are trying too hard

4.) Well put Dunlop47. You are spot on in everything you say. I wonder how many of the fans still backing SP will follow the team next year to league 1 grounds. If a change isn't made that's were we are heading.

5.) 2 tough games coming up sheep then fulham, by the time we play millwall we could be right in the thick of it at the wrong end, I love Pearce just like every other fan but no good has a manager, i'm still miffed at what Paterson could do to change the game at Rochdale with a minute plus stoppage time left, bad tactics and too many changes, COYR

6.) I knew when they gave stuart the job just what a bad move it was I love him And he's my hero but he's a awfull manager and now we're in this mess with him at the helm I really think we will go down if he stays but I also think we may go down if he goes as nobody is gunna come on board now for me now it's all about staying up that's how bad we are whatever happens we cannot have SP in charge next year he does not have the ability to build this team up he can spot talent I will give him that but does not have the faintest idea how to design a team and in my opinion McGovern is as much to blame as he was responsible for the appointment as well all that matters now is championship survival were that desperate it's a joke

7.) Think I would have players in running through nettles in shorts. Or get them cleaning the stands each week till they make more effort

8.) There isn't time for SP to hold a meeting today he is too busy running extra training sessions for the under performing fools called the 1st team.

Oh no sorry forgot this is SP who would t have the tactical knowledge to do that! They are probably all at home blaming referees and bad luck,

9.) Stevie wonder could see what's wrong.
when a player comes in and says I can't play I'm not in the right frame of mind.
This is Player Power.

10.) As said by many others… poor tactics. Long ball to Britt on his own up front …never won a header yesterday. Break out far too slow and when wingers reach the corners, the ball is always passed backwards. Players have too many touches before passing sideways ! Too slow, too predictable …that's why we only had one shot on target against Wednesday! Coaching and style of play has to change to be productive.

11.) At least pearce as gave it a go I hope in a way he carries on and proves all of us wrong can't c who is good enough out there manager wise to be any better and to be honest who would want to take this team on because at the moment this team would struggle in league 2

12.) If there is a change who do Forest fans want, Rosler not doing anything he got the sack from Wigan I know, but Malky isn't doing much there either, not really much out there

13.) If the post about the meeting is correct, then everyone meeting to discuss the situation seems like a sensible and intelligent move. The club needs to stick together and, if it can, try to iron out the difficulties. That approach seems far better than an autocratic owner just swinging the axe, that's happened before and it's got us nowhere.

14.) Gomez01623 - Nigel Adkins.

15.) Well said Dunlop47, so right!
SP was a fantastic player for our club, a legend, as a manager he had a go and failed after a good start, time to go!
League One, not again, please!

16.) All the managers that are available have all failed in there last job, what makes you think the next will get it right here?

17.) Just need to try taking a shot at goal every now and then, how often do we see good goalscoring opportunities go to waste by overplaying?, or too many long diagonals? just take a look at t goals scored in the championship yesterday, most of them were opportunistic digs at goal. at worst you miss, but at least it shows your trying.

18.) Adkins, McDermott, Sherwood, Rosler, Keane, Warnock, Burley, Curbishley, etc etc.

19.) I'm planning to get down to the ground early tomorrow to see the queue of experienced managers desperate to take over a mid table club, with no chance of getting new players in, a trigger happy owner, a despondent team. Let's be realistic, there's no practical option than stick with Psycho. And remind me where Forest were after Brian's first half season?

20.) Diamond Geezer, I ll join you. And bring a flask. And some heart pills in case it all gets too much!!

21.) I agree dg the managers out there will do no better with the team we have now and none of them managers would do well in the premiership and that's what we are aiming for in the next few years I have thought about it long and hard change manager I say stick with pearce he will have that team up for the fight especially next week

22.) BC had already established himself as a manager and also won the league with a very small provincial team so please don't compare
him with with SP who as a manager hasn't achieved anything yet. I could give you hundreds of examples of managers who initially didn't achieve and carried on not achieving. Soz one of my pet hate comparison with BC and AF

23.) How many more managers does Fawaz have to pay off!!
Let's stick and fight!
Reality check! We are the supporters of one of the greatest clubs in the country. However it is sad to say we no longer have that team to fill the boots of players gone by.
15 management appointment in 20 years tells it's own story.

24.) We are second only to Leeds in terms of the poor management of the club. Pearce nowhere near BD as a tactician and motivator. Even the Derby fans must be bored of it now, there is no hope of us getting anything from the next game than another embarrassing stuffing. I sort of hope we do in a perverse way, the fans don't deserve it but the players do. Go on Derby put the bunch of overpaid muppets out of their misery. I spare only Osbourne and Antonio from that comment.

25.) There's only one reason why Forest would struggle to attract a new manager of any standing and it's got nothing to do with current fortunes on the pitch, playing squad or FFP sanctions.

26.) Wasn't saying he was getting the sack, just to clarify that.

27.) Yes we all love Pearce, he will always be a Forest idol! But if any other Manager was in charge right now, everyone would want him out!

28.) I'm all for stability and giving a manager time, but it has to be the right man! It has to be someone that shows they can use the time to build towards promotion and no matter how many SP supporters bang the drum in his support SP hasn't done anything to show this is the case or is likely to change. The blind loyalty is admirable but misplaced as the longer his tenure is allowed to limp along the more harm is being done to his status, the playing staff and fans who appear to be moving into the for and against SP camps. I was at the match yesterday and the support for SP was not as impressive or widespread as was reported in the radio commentary or in the press. I hope that SP does the decent thing and resigns as Fawaz is in an impossible situation as whichever way he goes he will open himself up to a world of criticism.

29.) Why do we keep playing Lichaj!

He is awful wherever he plays and we just gave him a new contract!

It's that sort of decision that is costing us.

I was so frustrated watching at the weekend as we did so many things wrong.

Certain players were not trying and others looked like they had no idea what to do with the ball.

I suppose I was spoilt watching the likes of Des Walker.

I don't think Psycho is working and we need a change of manager (sorry Psycho).

30.) 11 Jan 2015 18:18:38
Let's face it, they do need to sit down and discuss each and everybody's inept performance. This may unite all as a unit going forward. As far as the person who picks the team, tactics and formation is concerned, sorry but I think, clutching at straws, started when landsbury was played out of position, then confirmed when ince got a second start. Don't know best team or set up.

31.) Totally agree, Dunlop 47 said it as we all feel.

32.) What about Martin o neill has he not said that he would love to take over at Forestat some time, i was informed that he can leave ROI at any time

33.) I never wanted Mick McCarthy, but look what he is achieving. Got some of our so called cast offs too. let's get a recognised championship manager and give him time. Pearce is not that I am afraid

34.) 11 Jan 2015 19:29:50
There is a lot of passion on the page- shame not as much on the pitch! Lots of sense being wrote. we are lost without Reid- laceless is not good enough- Mancienne and Hobbs are our obvious first choice centre backs- Kane looks quality- we have one game plan and that's Antonio (and all the other teams know this and treble up on him) osbourne can always hold his head up after the game- and that's about it!
Let's ask this- a player signs at 7pm on a Friday and gets put in at half time When he has had not even one training session with the players around him?? That's nieve to say the least and desperate! We have no idea wht to do other than the Antonio option! Veldwrijk is a country mile from playing in leave 2- Assombolonga can't hold his own water - never mind the ball and bringing others into play- so I go to Derby to shout at thier fans and hope we keep it respectable and under 4 goals !!
Fawas cannot sack SP - Sp won't walk out with Derby being the next game- Mexican standoff!
Forest have unbelievable fans- shame we are always in this situation!

35.) Leeds Red: spot on.

36.) Forest have a track record of picking the nearly man as manager a long string of failures since Sir Brian prove this fact. However whether Sp is a hero or not, whether tactically inept or not, are we all not losing sight of the fact that there are 11 players on the pitch being paid a shed load of money to perform like a saturday pub team? The side has no width, one out and out striker up front and a midfield devoid of any creativity. Assombolonga and Fryatt are without doubt quality strikers and have shown it on the rare occassions they get a quality ball through - their inability to score is created by having to retreat to the edge of their own 18 yard box to collect the ball. It is also this lacklustre midfield that lose the ball and don't get back to rectify the situation often leaving the back four exposed and under more pressure than necessary. Yes we have been unfortunate with the injuries to Cohen and Reidy but there are players who are equally as talented just do not have the passion or pride to represent the great club forest is. Bear with psycho let's get onto the real culprits of our teams demise the £1.5 million pound plus wage bill that ponce around the pitch like a load of fairies.
Soap box away

37.) No meeting yesterday T dog according to Paul Taylor. Fawaz "not looking to make any change " and meeting " not meant as a showdown. " Have we all just wasted a load of ink (or its electronic equivalent? ) or is NP wrong?

38.) 12 Jan 2015 22:21:28
I think we should all get together and have a meeting about the meeting not being a meeting.
Then Plan a real meeting to meet at a planned meeting place ?
Anyone in??
I say the forest team agree to a planned meeting and all turn up for a change this coming Saturday at goat park!
If I got to be there- they should at least turn up???

39.) I'll meet you half way if you can guarantee the meeting will take place atthe agreed meeting time and won't be a meeting to discuss whether a meeting should have taken place in the first instance.

Right, first things first, this is someone thing I've heard and I am doubting it. Please could any share some light if they've heard about Fawaz apparently selling the club? Forest Transfer Rumours posted on Twitter, again this is why I thinki it's doubtful

Lindegaard looking to be Darlows replacement for next year as he's been told to find a new club by Louis Van Gaal.

Tdog

1.) Would be class. can't see it tho. Prob go abroad.

2.) Get him in now Darlow has been poor this season, his mind is elsewhere!

3.) I don't see Anders Lindegaard dropping to Championship football.

He is a quality keeper and will be coveted by top European clubs if he leaves MUFC.

However, something I read over the weekend, Tomasz Kuszczak is being lined up by Bayern Munich. Could do a job for us instead of bench warming in Munich

4.) I would have thought wages would be a big obstacle, as it is with any player you're trying to get from the Premiership especially Man Utd.

5.) Would stick with Devries if we stay in the championship, he's a decent keeper and can't see the point in rocking the FFp boat on a goalie. If we got bigger ideas, then would look at Kieron Westwood from Wednesday.

6.) 29 Oct 2014 23:53:38
I agree with marco darlow has cost us in the last four games, two absolute shockers against Ipswich

7.) Cannot see Darlow or Lascalles getting a game at Newcastle. Both Krul and Elliott better keepers than Darlow. The Forest defence do not trust Darlow. Get the reserve keeper in for Saturday.

8.) We should of got Westwood on a free in the summer solid keeper prem experience and just all round better than darlow

9.) Here, here to Kieron Westwood Cjay and Redmartin!

Is MoN definitely appointed? Just seen Wagner has left Huddersfield, would also be a great appointment!

Tdog

1.) 15 Jan 2019 11:15:35
Yes he is and for me this is the best appointment since OBE, though to be fair there’s not been much competition

31 Dec 2017 12:26:15
Anyone know the reason why McParland left last week?

Tdog

1.) 31 Dec 2017 13:11:16
Left Saturday we think: probably was told MW would be sacked, so took his ball and went home.

2.) 31 Dec 2017 13:14:13
He had a fall out with the board over his failure to get rid of all of the deadwood.

3.) 31 Dec 2017 13:47:35
Fell out with the Greeks over transfer policy and was blamed for not getting rid of Hobbs mills and a couple others.
Let's see who they bring in and then see if they can get a tune out of these players,

4.) 31 Dec 2017 14:37:08
did mcparland get a permanent contract with us?

5.) 31 Dec 2017 16:01:42
Yes he started off with a temp last season and we made it permanent in the summer

30 Dec 2017 20:04:49
I really do not know what to think at the minute.
My mind is 50/ 50. I really want Warburton to succeed, I really really do and we all want stability. Imo I personally think we should give him until end of the season, if not until next January and then see where we are at that point in time. I do not see much sense in sacking him, we will just be adding to the endless list of sacked managers who had no time.

However saying that, I am bamboozled (is that a word? lol) by some of his tactics. I live in South Africa and managed to come across and see the awful match on boxing day. I like the passing style of football and when it comes off, it really works. We just lack that final third, the finished product. We either seem to scared to have a shot and therefore try to pass it round through people etc or shoot from miles away, which we all know won't go in.

Also would be interested to know MW's reasoning for sticking Tyler Walker upfront on his own. Is it just me or does anyone else go in to the match thinking this will never succeed? Just seems incredibly strange for a young player with no experience to be expected to lead the front line, hey ho my opinion though. Be interested to see everyone elses opinion.

Tdog

1.) 30 Dec 2017 21:59:20
Agree. Also when the goals dry up a lad we paid 3.5 million for can't get a foot on the pitch.

05 Aug 2015 01:01:39
Rudy Gestede is a definite no as to this new striker, Sherwood quoted saying 'Gestede can be the new Benteke'

Tdog

1.) 05 Aug 2015 08:09:50
Did anybody actually think it would be him seeing as he has only moved to villa about two weeks ago?

Adding to my point -

why is it when forest win, everyone on here seems that we're on the road to recovery but as soon as we loose, its all the players fault and manager should be sacked (tuesday night is an exception).

Rather stupid to be calling for the manager to be sacked. Just going to continue the cycle over and over again.
