Hearing rumours that Forest are close to signing Albert Adomah. {Ed034's Note - wouldn't have anything to do with the fact he has asked for a transfer would it??

Trickster1972

1.) Can't see Sean O'Dreadful giving us a glowing reference

2.) Can't we swap for some of the dead wood he bought while he was here?

3.) Sean O'Dreadful?

He did a good job for us. got us playing football and made steady signings that without we would of been in a relegation battle.

Why wouldn't he recommend us. He lives the life of football and knows that business is business and that his departure wasnt personal.

I reckon he put it because also remember on twitter the other day someone said adamoh to make surprise move to Wigan or forest

Jake

5.) Why is it that nearly all of our (supposed) targets seem to be linked with Wigan all the time too? There was the guy from Burnley they eventually signed (his name escapes me just now), Mulenga & now Adomah. Anyone else? Lol!

Phil.

6.) Why? because Wigan are building a promotion squad and will be the team to beat with James Perch leading from the front!

7.) I'm not sure if its because he's been listed but he'd be immense bombing down that right wing in front of A block!
Get him in if he's unsettled he's ours!

PS ed have my posts been coming through or are they just Carp even for me?! Lol ;) {Ed034's Note -if you create a user name I will be able to let you know why. I've had a lot saying the same today, so don't see the point in repeating stuff

For people asking if we've made any progress since last season, here's a year on year comparison with last season, on 1st October.

Points 2016 - 12
Points 2017 - 15

Position 2016 - 18th
Position 2017 - 13th

Goals for 2016 - 19
Goals for 2017 - 15

Goals against 2016 - 22
Goals against 2017 - 19

So overall we are slightly up, with an improving defence and a worsening attack!

Ok, not much of an improvement, but the real proof will come in time, if people have the patience to give the management and players the time!

If you read reports from journalists that have spoken to people at Forest, we did try to strengthen the defence in the summer. From what I've read (I’m not claiming to know, just to find what I’ve read, plausible), we made enquiries of 10-12 defenders, who either weren't available (within budget) or just didn't want to join us. As well as half a dozen ‘keepers, etc. etc.

So, when trying to judge if we are improving, let's not compare our performance to an exceptional success story (we’ve seen more losers than winners, playing FFP roulette!!), let's compare ourselves to our nearest competition last season.

We finished one point behind Burton and two behind Brum and QPR, we are currently 13, 14 and 5 points ahead of that group, so things could be worse.

So, whilst it's slow (and slightly frustrating) progress, I’d say it's a symptom of years of mismanagement and the damage that was caused to the club financially and reputationally in that time. So we need to accept, this will take a while to recover from! We need a couple of players signed in January, a top half finish and then try to make the rest of the necessary changes next summer and then, this time next year, judge the job that Mark and Frank have done.

That’s my take on it all.

A quiet, 'stay at home' goalkeeper is 50% of the problem with any defence.

A keeper that gives a defence direction and confidence is worth their weight in gold.

For example, as goalkeepers Paul Smith and Lee Camp were of similar ability but as soon as Camp came in, Morgan and Wilson actually started to look like defenders! No coincidence!! (I'm not saying I've have Campy back though)

13m may look like good business (and was IMO), but RBL did make a profit on it, so they're happy enough with it too!

The madness of modern football, championship player sold for 13m, makes 5 starts in a season for a Bundesliga team and increases in value!?!

But let's not write off a 20 year old so soon, remember how exciting he looked last August? Time will tell.

He made 2 sub appearences, in his first 2 games after signing and has been injured since.

He is on his comeback, having played an hour in the check a trade trophy U21 team , last night.

So, in short, no!

McKay doesn't fit into a 3-5-2, so in games where we play that formation, he won't play. As he's neither a wing back or a central striker. (You may not like 3-5-2 but if that's what we use, then that answers your question.)

When we went to 4-4-2, we could have brought him on for Fox and kept Osborne inside, but I think MW was trying to shield the defence as best he could, and Bouch central and Osborne wide is better than McKay on the wing, in front of Traore.

I suspect McKay will only play in games where we use a 4-3-3, where he can play as one of 3 forwards.
