Robbo, read the post properly. It praises Danny Fox for past and present games at centre back for Forest not at full back. It is clearly his best position. He his more than capable of doing a good job there as he did v Burton with a good partner like Figueiredo. He as taken a lot of abuse and critisism on here most of it unfairly. I recall the usual experts slagging Pantillimon off because of a mistake on his debut, and guess what, he is now proving our experts wrong just as Foxy did on Saturday. Well done DF and CP. U REDS.

Word of caution on fox and our defensive play, Burton have only scored 8 goals at home all season.
Let's see how it pans out over the next few games?

Delighted for Danny Fox as made a few keyboard experts on here look stupid with an outstanding show at centre half along with a fine debut from Figueirido. He lacks a bit of pace at full back and is clearly a better central defender were he as never let us down. I hope AK gives this new partnership a chance as it is better than the JW and MM pairing. With Fuentes in at left back and wipe out Eric back after suspension we might just have a back four capable of delivering this season. Not impressed with Darikwa but would be more than happy if he comes good and proves me wrong. U REDS.

I am delighted Danny Fox was playing CB yesterday. He isn't and never has been a LB.
However with our recent recruitment policy being so poor , especially in the defensive areas, he was a square peg in a round hole. I believe he would have done a basic but reasonable job at LB if he had a half decent left sided midfielder in front of him.
He has had McKay and Dowell so no wonder he has looked exposed.
I hope Fuentes proves his fitness very soon so Fox can stay in a position he should be playing in.
The same applies to whoever plays upfront alone. Without support they look lost.

Retford

Agreed DF has had a lot of undeserved flak since being at the club but despite being out of the picture under a number of managers he has always been the consummate professional. I think some of this goes back to when he joined us having previously opting to move elsewhere earlier in his career when we first tried to sign him.

Pearce switched him to centre back the pre-season he took over and Fox has always looked solid when he has been asked to stand in.

The role of full backs has changed over his later career and given some of the players we put out wide left who cannot track back a world class full back would struggle in our team?

Hope he gets a new contract as he is just the sort of strong character this club needs.

Reading some of the advice being given to the club on here, it's like , "Having a blind folded apprentice knife thrower, throwing at a rotating wheel with a person strapped to it". Just a bit risky.

Don't think we will go down as worse teams. Below us.
But now we've sent walker out on loan.
There's no pace in Murphy brereton velios.
I'd bring walker back.

Agreed Vets

Burton and Blunderland are nailed on to go down and the masterstroke of sending Clough and Walker to Bolton will ensure they go down as they cannot score nor the has beens Le Fondre and Ameobi as their back up strikers?

Now is the time to look up the table and keeping 11 men on the pitch where we will see chances and goals starting to flow.

I would have been happy with a point against the bottom club before we'd even kicked off yesterday. That in itself shows how low our expectations have fallen. Under MW we knew we'd probably need to score at least 2 goals to win a game, under AK we will probably need to keep a clean sheet just to get a point. 10 players bought in and we're still playing a right back at left back. The biggest concern is the lack of a goal threat which I don't see improving and the decision to let Cummings and Walker go without bringing in a replacement still baffles me. I have never been one for sacking managers and to be clear I'm not saying get rid of AK but I just don't share some of the optimism in him that some fans do. I think they get hung up on the fact he got Boro promoted but we've had managers in the past that have had success at other clubs but they haven't worked out for us. I think we'll probably just stay up as there's 3 or 4 teams worse than us but even given time I can't see this fella getting us anywhere near promotion. Hope I'm wrong and he shows a bit more attacking flair once we're safe but in the meantime we just all need to get behind him and the team and make sure we're still in this division next season.

Pass the ball, bang on about we’ve had others that have done it. Megson, the deranged Scot and the dour Scot. It’s not a transferable outcome sadly.

I agree that we could score under MW but that the goals were drying up which is what I think did for him. The two limp home performances against weds and Sunderland did for him. If he’d have just one one of them or drawn them both I think he’d have survived.

I actually think we’ve got the same amount of points that we’d have got under MW. So no improvement in outcomes at all and even more painful to watch I think.

I agree with all of you and have said right from the start i do not like Karanka tactics.
The only way he will survive long term is to change, most fans who sit around me aren't impressed either.
Unfortunately we all know he won't change.
To me he should have kept traore walker Cummings and clough.
Watson geddy and colback plus Lolly ok signings and he had to bring in centre back so ok with that.
The others are a waste and unfit and in the end we are down to the bare bones both up front and in defense while having far too many midfielders who aren't creative or can score.
Think we all need him to succeed but think it's more in hope than any concrete evidence.

I,ve said it and said L/B should have been his priority not just an after thought.
If you look back over the last 20 years the good runs we,ve had have all been when we,ve had a PROPER left back eg. Shorrey, Bartram ,Cunningham ,ect ,the bad times have been like yesterday ,a man playing out of position.
Let's hope this latest late signing proves to be a real L/B

According to AK both Worrall and Manc were out with sudden illness/injuries, and maybe Vellios too. This forced him to use Fox as centre back. So he discovered he can do it well. If we can get Fuentes fit we might have a solid defence - Darikwa likely to figure again V Reading, but that doesn't mean Manc can't play there when fit. He also discovered that Watson is a natural captain despite us having a crap referee at Burton. Two major problems on the way to being solved then, especially if everyone did as they were told and got into defence mode to stop their runners. Just leaves us with the problem of goal-scoring. Expect more changes on Tuesday, but maybe a low crowd turn out. Like I said many moons ago, we have to get that 50 points target to be safe. Sadly Eric did not help us, but he doesn't like playing on that left side. I accept I panicked about League 1 but it's never easy holding your faith as a Red!

What we all wanted was a tighter defence - AKA seemed to say the team had done well and achieved this. So that is a big plus. Does he now keep that pairing adding the new Spanish left back? . I have no doubt that they went for a centre foreword in the transfer window - my guess was Patrick Bamford who is now on the bench with Britt! But Tony Pulis would not let them go . We were lucky to spot Britt but who was our last 20 goal a season forward? Best to grow our own but they are not yet mature. So patience is required. If we drew the remaining matches and the play was 'boring 'I for one would be happy.

A good post Doc, I have a couple of observations.
It doesn’t matter who plays up front if you can’t create chances. The magical Stan Collymore wouldn’t have scored in the last few games. The lack of goals since early December is just a massive concern. I think MW was going the same way but every now and again there would be a flurry. I knew AK was defensive but we are just getting no where in front of goal.

Secondly Britt was a great player and a steal at 5mil but I think he’d struggle here too, he needs chances to score. Secondly I think this ‘growing your own’ is floored to a degree as the power clubs are grabbing the best kids too young. Other than OB tell me the last time we grew a centre forward ‘of our own’ it doesn’t seem to happen and each one that comes through with promise just seems to fizzle out.

OB wasn’t even an out and out striker and, to be honest it looks like ole Fawaz was right to plunder that money and run. If someone has offered anything more than 5 for B.B. we perhaps ought to have taken it.

I’m starting to think the championship a very hard league to blood players into and you do wonder what the actual out turn cost of doing it is.

There are of course only my opinions but I’ve watched most games this Season and it’s honestly been painful most of the time - really painful.

These are of course just my opinions and I’d be so happy to be proved wrong because if a youth system can work, as, it can bring joy to fans and bring in big money. I’m not sure how many goals B.B. has scored to games player but I don’t think it’s great. I suppose what will be disappointing is, if it’s actualy this one up top tactic from both managers, this season that has ruined progress. On both occasions with Brazil as Manager he’s looked a prospect.

Thoughts anyone?

Like you 2star I have found this season in a lot matches painful to watch
I think that the last few months have showed that putting all our eggs in the youth basket so to speak was a grave error from the start!
It’s great to think that bringing through your own players from the academy will bring success but in this league depending totally on inexperienced youth maybe was a big ask
Our young players in my opinion are merely lower championship or league 1 at best apart from Worral who is improving the rest seem to be showing signs that they have found their level not sure we have uncovered a special player yet hope I’m wrong only time will tell

Show me the way to go home I'm tired of being a red if brereton and Murphy can't score then maybe we should have Clough and Walker instead without the forest fire being a forest fan is dire so come Mr Karanka and stop being a little w---r put the fire back into the line up so all us fans can cheer up that's it for now few more Stella's 🤪🤪🤪.
