What people's thoughts on Ben Osborn (correct spelling) tackling? does he win many?

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 21:39:43
None really,to be honest we've all been asking for a left back for years,we sign one and karanka prefers to play a midfielder there instead.

20 Aug 2018 21:50:43
All I know is we need to shift him from LB and play to his strengths

Ff is that a non to him winning tackles or you mean you have no thoughts on it?

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 22:03:03
What are his strengths.

Where in the midfield would you put him we have got technical better players in that position who offer a lot more going forward.

I know he runs all day long which is great but there is no end product to his game plus his positioning sense is know how hiw many times does he drift to far in to the centre and leave his man in space.

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 22:52:48
Left wing or don't play him,it's that simple, unless karanka realises you can actually play football without two holding midfielders? Especially at home,

He's not a good tackler Sutton,is what I mean,it's not his strong point.

On a wet October day in 1958 my brother who was fourteen years my senior took me to my first Forest game. I was twelve at the time and the game was against Blackpool if my old memory rings true. My brother told me that this would be my team for life and of course he was correct. One thing though that he told me and that has surfaced in my thoughts this week was his advise regarding Forest fans being fickle and very impatient.
My humble opinion is that we now have a club that has a solid structure in place after years of being fractured and in dissaray.
The owner is obviously backing the manager in his efforts so why are we so quick to question a manager's tactics after four league games who has in the past shown his understanding of the game through his past success.
I do not believe we have ever had such a transfer window as we have this season and yes it is true money does not always buy success but I would sooner the club have the players that has been brought in this season than not. I read ridiculous comments about Grabban and yes we are all entitled to our opinions but four games in yet again impatience of our supporters come to mind.
To me this is the most exciting times for our club in many a year so let's get behind all the staff and players. We have the manager the players have the talent and with patience it will all come good

I agree. Its a marathon not a sprint.Perhaps we'll not end up where we'd all hope we will but the difference for me this season when I go to watch the reds is I think we could win rather than fear we'll lose.

AK needs to keep the fans on board, the team will need all of us this season. Opposition is already working out how to play us, so AK should try to be flexible in the way we play. I hear him talk about playing our game and results will come. This frustrates me. No team has the divine right to win a game. You have to earn that right, win your battles, make 50/50's 60/40 in your favour. In short you have to want to win more than the opposition, whether Direby or Wigan.

Don't disrespect the opposition or underestimate any team and definitely don't walk on the pitch not ready to fight from second one. This league will be hard enough without giving cheap, early goals away. Cut it out reds, embarrassing basics from professional footballers, unacceptable. Show us the fight every game, from 1st minute to last and those fans will roar you up the league. COYR.👏👏👏

I will put one thing in and that's why with 13 new players are we having the same problems I think that's a lot of people's issue the only constant is ak's tactics. Not being negative but how can this be.

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 22:39:22
On a second note it's the same tactics that he used and failed with last season so it's not just 4 games of using them except now it's his tactics with his players same end result i'm getting very concerned I must admit.

AK has been given the money with the instructions to get the club promoted. I am not impstient nor desire the prem. Just happy to see a the club above water and have good direction.

You have to question some of the decisions as on the field not a lot has changed. A lot of new players are like for like with what we already have. Not enough have been moved on and we still lack composure in the last third. I know its only 5 mstches in but the same frailties exist. Defensively AK has invested well but as yet has not started with the right or left back experience. Heffel will be a great centre half.

The key position is thst which Tomlin filled as he was real class and what i would call the link. Its hus type we need right now as the portuguese lads lack real composure in and around the box and they seem to fade. I still can't get my head around the 13mil for carvslaho. He will come good of thst i am sure but just how good and how effective?

What about trying 3-4-3 with Hef, Fox and Robinson as back 3 then Cash Geddy Carvalho and Osbourn as 4 and Soudani, Grabban and Lolley or similar.

Agree0 3Disagree

20 Aug 2018 21:45:20
I'd go with a 442 formation at present at least at home
Byram Dawson fox Robinson
Cash geddy colback lolley
Soudani grabbon
Brereton osbourne Dias Watson calvalho concalves
Fig Hef
Then it's upto these subs to take there chance when they get it.

Like i idea of that formation and if we did play that i woukd go for

Fox (lcb)
Fig (rcb)
Dawson (cb)
Cash (RWB)
Robinson (LWB)
Colbeck (CM)
Carvahlo (CM)
Lolley (LW)
Soudia (RW)
Grabbon (ST)

Has anyone thought that BB may actually want to move. If that were to be the case then we should get the best deal for the club. You cannot force a player to stay if his head has been turned.

Agree2 3Disagree

20 Aug 2018 12:25:53
Sgetty if Brereton wants to leave fair enough, you should not force him to stay, however how the hell can his head be turned by a club like Blackburn. L

Agree2 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 12:28:37
Yes I can see how a move to BLACKBURN would put your head in a spin!

Agree1 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 12:45:04
If BB is loaned to come back great but to a league 1 or 2 or 2 side surely ? Many on this site have bemoaned our lack of strikers. Britt was surely an answer but unfortunately for psycho was injured. Now we have Grabban who has yet to do anything to convince me. Murphy we all know about. Yes as always the midfield will score goals but will not get you more than mid table. BB is young and passionate for the game ( Cash and Osborn equally ). The way he demanded and took that penatiy was a special moment. AK we all must assume knows much more than any of us the potential of BB so if he goes it will be like Ollie Burke now not a WBA first choice and no longer playing for Scotland. So loan BB to improve him would be my choice to the Scunthorpes of this world

Agree2 1Disagree

20 Aug 2018 13:08:52
Maybe Blackburn have promised him more playing time.

Agree1 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 13:32:18
Sgetty you could be right but Brereton has only recently come back from England duty so the manager might have been giving him a break. Cash has shown when you get a chance to play and do well you can keep your place, orat least come off the bench in Soudani's case.

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 13:32:52
I would be surprised if we are entertaining selling BB given how light we are in the striker department. It would be a big risk for AK, especially if his target is a top 6 finish. It doesn't make sense to sell the type of player that could get you there.

It’s not about having your head turned by another club it’s what the agents fill your head with.

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 16:01:10
Sutton to a extent i see your point but although only 19 years old surely he knows the difference between Blackburn and Barcelona, the difference between Blackburn being just as likely to go back down and Forest pushing the boat out to get promoted. Game time will come eventually for him at Forest, and it is up to him to take the chance with a point made the manager can not argue with.

I've been reading comments on Twitter from our fans saying grabban is one of the worse signings we have ever made waste of money ECT ECT these people need to get a grip we are 4 games in for God sake if it was 10 games and he hasn't scored then I would be questioning buying him but come on give the lad time to settle in I think when he gets that first goal he will score regular just be patient is all I say 13 new players in need a few games to gel together not even 5 games in yet a the moaners are already on the players backs come on let's be positive .

Agree5 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 11:28:36
It is dreadful to say he is one of our worse signings, to say he is not playing well is one thing, but that is ridiculous to say. He is simply fed up of playing in a position that is wasting his talent.

I'm with Steve F on this on. AK's preferred one up top does not favour an out and out striker like Grabban. He would do better with two up top, or the final ball into the box is much better. He's feeding off scraps under the way we play.

The clubs owners have worked wonders getting fans back on side, in this context I think selling Brereton is a suicidal PR move by the club. Too many fans don’t want this and doing it out of the blue at this stage of the season could be seen to lack transparency.

Whether you fancy B.B. as a future star or not I think you’d have to agree it’s not the right thing to sell him to Blackburn.

Someone needs to understand that many fans will not be at all happy with this and all the effort that has gone into winning fans over is going to be shattered on one fell swoop.

It wouldn’t be so bad if we were playing great and scoring plenty of goals, it’s hard to call isn’t it, what the problem is with so many strikers to struggle at forest under AK. Is it the strikers or is it impossible to succeed as a striker in his teams with his tactics ?

Did he get the boot from boro because they simply couldn’t score goals ? Is he as hopeless and goal scoring tactics is the Wolly is at defence tactics ?

Don’t underestimate what a massive call this is for the club, this is a massive decision with potential ramifications.

Agree10 4Disagree

20 Aug 2018 04:58:50
He is not a Winger or a lone striker so will not flourish under Aitor, the club must not take Blackburn's chances seriously so not bothered about sending him to them. I do feel you are over emphasising the issue of how fans will react. The only way the fans will not be happy is jf Blackburn with Brereton in the team costs us a play offs spot.

Agree2 4Disagree

20 Aug 2018 06:22:11
I don’t think the two goals he will score will affect our chances too much.

Brereton has proven he knows where the back of net is and put the ball there while playing for England, the trouble is the last two managers rarely play to his strengths. If, or when he is a Blackburn player he may not be prolific but will score fairly regularly once his confidence grows being played where he should be.

2 star your description of the situation reminds me of the Joe Worrall/ Burnley bid in January. I have faith in Aitor and the owners.Maybe the deal is taking so long because we won't ok it until we have a replacement. (Abraham/Oliviera will do)

I'm with you Stevie.Review again in January. He could be a regular for us by then! At least in January any transfer fee can be reinvested. At the moment all that happens is we lose a striker.

Agree2 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 12:26:35
Everybody divided but there is definitely one thing and that is we have no front man that is scoring goals brereton can play up there and do better than grabban at the minute and to sell him to a team in our league is not a great thing to do.

Agree3 0Disagree

20 Aug 2018 12:39:51
bsred, who says he “wants to go”? An assumption on your behalf and Billybongo, he could and would score more if played in his right position to his strengths, look how many goals he’s scored for the younger teams and England. He’s got power and pace and he’s a young lad for gods sake. I know, I’ve got a super idea, let’s keep playing Grabnone and Murphy up top, so prolific and fast and a real handful-not, I’ve seen faster slugs. Great post 2star, I’m with you with that and I for one, ain’t going to be happy if he’s flogged.

You obviously not listening again perks what people are saying his the way we play he's not scoring also how long do wait for our only striker to start bagging 10-20 games I mean they gave him the penalty to take and he had to rely on soudani to finish it off lol.

A lesson in making money on football players.

Posh find a striker to score 30 odd goals in League 1. Hawk him around and get a Mug Punter to pay £6m +add ons.

Forest loan a League 1 standard striker for an inflated loan fee to Posh and he starts scoring from the get go. May 2019 he is worth £6m + add ons thanks to Posh Fried McDoughnuts

Kentucky Venky Chicken bid £6m for a proven Championship young striker. Forest loan him for twice the loan fee for the Second Cummings and a buy option of £12m because that's the market rate for a proven Championship striker set by Mad Mel for a League 1 striker.

Ben Bro keeps Blackburn in the Championship scoring 12/ 15 goals which underwrites his value.

These two loan deals cover the fee paid for Carvalho if Forest need to cash out next summer? If not we are in the money?

Meanwhile down at the flat pack stadium
the lambpoo has hit the fan!

Big mistake letting a striker go anywhere, when were struggling to score goals, but the strikers will anyway under karankas tactic of feeding of the odd scrap of a chance.
A 20 goal striker doesn't suddenly become a poor player,he just won't score 20 for us playing like we do.

Having seen his penalty saved, I think Grabban should sit the next game on the bench, it’s not a punishment or anything I just think that he needs to have a game where he either comes on as a sub or gets a chance to take the sting out of his lack of goals. I would personally play Brereton with lolley, soudani and cash behind. I’d also have Robinson and Byram in as they are better fullbacks.

I do think that with the strength in depth we could also have the three Portugeezers in and we’d still have an equally good chance.
