I try to be always the optimist. Maybe some times a little to much. The expectations of what AK is trying to achieve is I belive coming good.
My only concern is the lad between the posts as he does not fill me full of confidence. Strange really as I believed when he came last year that he was solid but the last few games then it would appear he has lost the confidence he previously had. Think if he is still struggling in the new year then it's time for a new face.

Am in agreement mickn. My optimism leads me to believe that AK will replace any player that does not reach his required standards. I am also optimistic that the owner will give him backing to do so. Optimism is the way forward pal.YOU REDS!

Burnley could be favourites for relegation, if paper rumours are true. 😁 To be honest, I wish MW all the best. A talent like that shouldn't be out of football. 😉.

Anyone see the Portuguese lads goal last night? do we really need olly Burke back with someone that can run with a ball like this?

Agree4 0Disagree

17 Oct 2018 08:55:05
He's got some serious talent for sure but he needs to prove he can do it in the Championship. Very different level to an under 21s game against Bosnia.

Agree6 0Disagree

17 Oct 2018 10:57:42
Good goal but no real challenge and he won't get that sort of space nor will it be as easy as that to run with the ball in the championship.

Agree2 3Disagree

17 Oct 2018 12:43:09
I understand your point Psycho but I'd at least like to see him give it a go. Keep hounding Championship defenders with quick, skillful runs and they'll soon start backing off.

Messi does this in la liga and he’s the best in the world.runs with thre ball in challenged and he’s the best.does it week in week out in that poor league.

Should we bring Burke back?
If we did I wouldn't pay more than 4m
Let's face it. Since he left he as done nothing to warrant the 13m we got for him.
And would he dislodge cash. No way.

Agree3 6Disagree

15 Oct 2018 16:20:29
Does he bring something different to the team, and is he better than we have got already. Everyone will believe something different. I doubt he would leave for £4m

15 Oct 2018 16:39:23
Burke would walk back into the side.

He's got lightning pace, physicality, runs at players & he's ready made for the championship.

Absolute no brainer for the right money.

Agree8 1Disagree

15 Oct 2018 20:18:51
The squad as a whole has massively improved since he was sold. That has coincided with a loss of form for Burke. I don't see that we need him back. If we need to strengthen we should be looking for a striker not a winger.

Agree5 3Disagree

15 Oct 2018 20:53:00
We don't need him I'd rather play cash on the right although Burke has talent I always felt he lacked enthusiasm for the defensive side of the game and wasn't keen on tracking back

Agree6 2Disagree

15 Oct 2018 20:59:12

The trouble is not too many strikers are effective playing the lone role that AK likes so we really need players that can link up with the rest of the midfield to create better chances for our lone striker. Players with pace that naturally like to run at the opposition are just we what we need. Off course there needs to be a end product from the player.

Agree0 1Disagree

15 Oct 2018 21:09:46
I think he’d do will and fit into our style - especially at home when the bus is parked !

Agree3 2Disagree

15 Oct 2018 22:11:53
One trick pony, he's like grease lightening, but hasn't got a brain on where he's going and his end ball is crap, best deal we ever did, he's gone forget him, he was never that good.

Agree7 6Disagree

15 Oct 2018 22:38:39
AK we already have a dearth a attacking midfield options. What happens if Murphy and Grabban are both injured at the same time? That is highly possible, given recent events. We need a back up striker!

Agree3 0Disagree

15 Oct 2018 23:44:02
No more wingers. We need central midfielders. Desperately short in that position.

Agree1 1Disagree

16 Oct 2018 06:01:11

Im not saying Burke is the answer to the teams problems, but we lack midfields that run at opposition with pace. So we need to get rid of some of our present midfielders and replace them with ones that will frighten the opposition, and that have end product. There are some midfielders we have that can act as temporary striker, but AK's system relies on midfield to score, the lone striker is just there to hold up the ball and get into the oppositions faces, not really a true striking role. We have to get rid of players before bringing in more players. Or do we?

Agree1 2Disagree

Ff799 has summed up my thoughts entirely! He will never make a top player without a brain?

Agree4 4Disagree

16 Oct 2018 10:08:19
If he was made available,I would try to bring him back. he was a brilliant outlet for us when we were under pressure.
He had the ability to hit teams with that suckerpunch.
Before he left he was definitely one of our best players. no reason why he could be again.
Just say'n 😉😉😉

Agree3 2Disagree

16 Oct 2018 12:04:31
Presumably he and his agent wanted the money so both jumped at it. Similar to Bamford who left us and has been loaned out by Chelsea ever since.
It depends on what type of lad Burke is. My guess is that he probably realises he made a mistake leaving Forest like he did and has failed to settle or hit form ever since.
There is no indication that he wants to come back but my guess is AK would only buy him if the Club could afford it, or if players on loan are going back in January or the Summer.
I too feel he would be a valuable addition to the team and could well end up being in the side to replace injuries to Cash, Dias, Goncalves or even Benny O.
Over to you Mr. Marinakis?

Let's start the day with a moan,it,s been said McKay and Cummings were allowed to leave because they made little impact but stats show this time last year they,d made more impact than the 3 Iberians have this time round ,as Greavesie used to say ,it,s a funny old game?
CARLO

Agree2 7Disagree

15 Oct 2018 09:51:48
AK wants a certain character in his squad, McKay lightweight and not up for the fight, Cummings obviously still immature. This leads to the question of Ollie Burke being available in Jan, do we want him back? Could he be a bad egg though?

Agree0 2Disagree

15 Oct 2018 10:09:07
What stats? We are a much stronger team without them and Scots are technically inferior!
The Scotland results without these two tell you all you need to know about stats and that they have found their level?

Agree3 4Disagree

Stats are too ambiguous to read too much into.

15 Oct 2018 14:17:40

I agree to some extent but the Brentford owner uses stats in order to buy and loan players which they have done fairly well by.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - that's not the full story, they used to do that, but they found they were not always identifying the right players by the pure use of stats. Now they use the stats in order to identify the players to scout. Matthew Bentham would love to just use stats, as he made his fortune out of stats analysis and it is his company that provides the stats the team use.}

15 Oct 2018 14:28:47
Ed001
I was obviously not aware of that, you learn something new every day. Thanks.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - it has been a developing process and part of the reason Mark Warburton and co left the club, as they wanted to move away from the stats. Brentford brought a guy from Bentham's Danish club Midtjylland (I hope that is spelt right!) to take charge of recruitment and he has changed it significantly. It does still rely heavily on stats to identify most of the players they sign, but they no longer sign without repeated scouting too.}

15 Oct 2018 16:45:59
Neither Cummings or McKay were good enough mentally or physically to get it done consistently over a championship season.

Thankfully we don't accomodate lightweights at the club anymore.

Who is the main man at a club of course it,s the manager and it,s his job to get players to perform consistantly, the reason we been out of the big time for so long is not having the right manager ,let's hope this time we have but the jury's still out on AK ,seems to me he,s not given everyone a fair crack but let's hope this dosen,t kill morale because team spirit is so vital and when the manager as they say loses the dressing room it,s all over .

It's a great way of supporting local non league ( any level below league 2).
As it was the International break and no premier or championship football, non league clubs offer discount entrance to attract bigger crowds. It usually doubles their average attendance. I had a pint, burger and entrance fee for just a fiver. Plus it's good honest football.
Try it next time mate.

Agree5 0Disagree

14 Oct 2018 23:04:07
Yes Ff. Proper football. The stuff millions play every Saturday for fun or a bit of pocket money if they are good enough to get paid. Many people put hour upon hour to run these teams. Many of these clubs are academies which mean they also have 4 or 5 junior teams run by volunteers.

Remember where we got Garry Birtles from? Long Eaton. Wes Morgan, Dunkirk. And our very own current hero Joe Lolly started out in non league.
So yes mate. Proper!

A sell out crowd looks likely against Norwich and we should have a great atmosphere
One thing is starting to bother me there’s to many fans that are too quick to get on the players backs the players need our support and not feel pressure playing in front of our home crowd other wise it will be counterproductive
You know who you are let’s have more encouragement

Agree3 1Disagree

14 Oct 2018 09:18:54

I doubt the players hear the odd person shouting from the stands, only if it is on mass, when that is the case it must be a really bad per
performance. I like the idea of throwing food at them, as long as it does not hit them, just to see if they have hunger. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

14 Oct 2018 11:10:02
Aps if whatever reason some players are a little off the pace and are playing poorly believe it or not encouragement can actually help them that’s called support
If you aren’t happy make your opinions known at the end of the game
A large crowd at home is to give our team an advantage not help the away team to raise their game

Agree3 2Disagree

Agree2 3Disagree

14 Oct 2018 15:01:09
The fans can be the 12th man for a team do you really think a 12th man going against the team is what the team would really need?someone slagging you off isn’t going to make you up your game its more than likely to effect you even more and make you even more nervous about your next pass.after the game when you have cheered them on and they still havnt got it together is the time to do it.

brereton would have missed the goal by a bigger margin. he was,nt that good in front of goal.in fact most of forest players seem to forget what to do with the ball when they get good chances in front of goal. he,s better off at blackburn.forest are a better team with him gone.

Murphy got stick when he first joined us yet he did the business after a few games, if you take out his grieving he has been a good signing.

Brereton was never going to do well in a struggling side in a positions that do not play to his strengths. We all can be a bit too quick to criticise.

Agree2 1Disagree

13 Oct 2018 11:03:34
We aren't slating him.we was just saying that he couldn’t get in our team and he can’t get in Blackburn’s team and to suggest he would score chances that rashford would miss is mad

13 Oct 2018 12:12:50
Instead of looking back at what might have been,I prefer to look forward. We now have an excellent prospect coming through in Arvin Appiah. If he can be brought through gradually, unlike Brereton, I think he can be truly special. I do not say this flippantly by the way.
