Looks a good team in the main MUNMAD although with respect to Danilo, he repeatedly goes missing in away matches and hasn't shown enough bottle in them yet - how many chances does he get and can a manager afford to take the risk? Not for the faint hearted at Goodison on Sunday. Also I wouldn't have Omabamadele anywhere near the first team - on a train back to the Championship preferably.

Chelsea showed how to turn Wverton over their glaring weakness is their full backs Young and Coleman both have been good in their time but have lost 2 yds of pace now!

Elanga and Williams down the right and CHO and Aina on the left should tear them apart Tarkowski and Branthwaite are dangerous from set pieces so Boly has to play

Sels

Williams
Boly
Murrilo
Aina

Dominguez
Danilo

Elanga
MGW
Hudson Odoi

Wood

Subs Turner Obamadele Yates Sangare Tavares
Montiel Reyna Riberio.

I’d go with that team Munmad. I think Boly is injured but I’d always prefer him in to compensate for Murillos lack of height.
It will be tough though. Everton collectively and individually were poor and even Pickford looked like Turner. You just know he will play a blinder on Sunday. On the plus side I would think MGW will be licking his lips at how much space young Palmer was given last night.

They look purposeful and strong going forward. Beto might be fancying his chances Sunday lunchtime. PS. Did Pickford really clap his hands above his head after conceding that goal? Why?

16 Apr 2024 15:29:41
I would put Reyna instead of HO. He does not pass and tries to hard to take on 2 or 3 players. I think if you look at the stats he has no assists and few goals. You can perhaps see why he has failed at a number of clubs. I suspect we signed him on his agents recommendation and maybe the thought SC would get out of him what no one else has.

Season ticket renewals just been posted, thankfully they’ve kept the old format. but still a big price hike mines gone up over 50 pounds, and we still don’t know what div we will be in next season. 10, 000 on the waiting list apparently already. So that’s 100, 000 pounds in the coffer for nothing.

Not at our club mate no, sadly in the top league you do have to have enough talent to play at this level as well and I don’t believe we have a player with all those attributes. That means we have plenty of commitment but very little talent, where we have talent we lack the spirit you describe above.

Well I've just been to the vets to have our 18 year old cat put to rest which was traumatic enough, but when i was there a horrible little French Bulldog decided to munch on my hand. So now I'm at the Urgent Care Centre with puncture wounds in four fingers waiting to see a doctor when i should be at home with the Mrs. celebrating our 20th anniversary. The waiting time is only six hours though! Great! It's going to be one of those days me thinks.

We have a 3 year old rescue cat found as a kitten living in a cardboard box in a derelict car port in Oswestry. Scared to death of humans ( very wisely) but absolutely devoted to my wife and I. Liverpool v Crystal Palace - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

Another interesting read Ed 1. Like you I was surprised that Klopp didn’t wait until the end of the season to announce his departure. The last thing you want at the business end of the season is uncertainty for the future.
Tactically I think Liverpool missed the bravery of the youngsters too. Palace worked very very hard to their credit. All is not lost as Arsenal were unexpectedly defeated. It could be like Black Week in the Boer War where the British Army suffered 3 defeats in a week ( Stormberg, Magersfontein and Colenso) but went on to win the War. They realised they had underestimated their opponents, changed tactics and did sensible things like issued modern rifles to their cavalry units instead of lances, used long range modern artillery and balloons to reconnoiter. Liverpool might well turn the corner tactically in a similar way, become more mobile and not just think they have to turn up to achieve victory ( especially at Anfield and after being given a football lesson in the Europa ).

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I would love to think you are right, but I can't see it. Lijnders has Klopp's ear and he is tactically useless but too far up his own arse to see it.}

15 Apr 2024 22:19:41
Wow Everton smashed by Chelski. If ever there was a time to beat a team completely demoralised then Sunday is that day. Plus their game in hand is Liverpool the Wednesday after playing us. The handling of the new campaign in the Premier League after 23 years absence at best has been amateurish at and more accurately a corporate shambles. Football fair play apart there are so many areas where we have no plans or are losing ridiculous amounts of money.
Nothing in place regarding stadium improvements or capacity increase; Blackburn, Coventry, Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Leicester, Derby, Sheffield United, etc. all have stadia with bigger capacities and key facilities haven't been improved (I still witness brawls and conflicts between our own fans over the use of toilets! ).
We have too many players of the same type signed who can't score a goal.
We have been conned by players with an international track record e. g. Freuler, Lingard
Players have disappeared who could have developed into goalscoring options
Strikers haven't been scouted properly and no research done on injury records.
Impossible for the managers to keep players happy with the numbers so that players know they're not going to get a run in the team
Players who are finished at PLlevel not let go and taking ridiculous wages, e. g. Kouyate
International duty not considered when putting a squad together (should be limits on this)
Prices hiked around the ground and for merchandise with no consultation.
All this and now a season ticket concession issue the fans should stage a friendly protest NOW before the owners have a chance to act!

The week we got promoted back to the premiership I relinquished my seat. never rated this league, neverwill, along with VAR.
If we are relegated rest assured I will be looking to get my season ticket again. Supported the reds for 73 years and will carry on doing so by attending the bread and butter leagues.
Having associates one who is a regular servant to the FA, and another who is associate s with the PFA, gets me some valuable insight of what we as a club are up against in the premiership. Another close associate is connected to the Scottish FA, also an insight of how things are.
With this limited knowledge it allows me to evaluate my attendance at games, that's why I hope on one hand not to be looking for a season ticket, but am assessing the possibilities that I may be at the City Ground next season.
Always have, and always be a Garabaldi.

Why don't you try giving some credit?
Marinakis got us there when everyone else failed especially doughty who took us the other way.

Yes we made some bad signings, what club doesn't?
Dele Ali at 28 and costing Everton a fortune
Why anyone would prefer their team in a lower league is beyond me
The stadium can't be built while ever the council own the land and the boat club won't play ball.

Yes we've bought some bad players but also bought some good ones
Elanga 5 goals plus 8 assists at 21
Hudson 5 plus 1
Wood 12 plus 1

Add murillo, danilo, MGW just yo name a few and they will make a lot of money back for the club
Now are you sure you support forest or just love moaning?
Everton lost six nil tonight, I have never feared we would lose by that margin all season.

I don't bother much anymore because it's as if you only come on to moan
Nothing constructive to say at all
Just doom and gloom merchant's.

There is a rumour that Newcastle will bid for MGW. Every player has his price. My major worry is the current recruiting team at the club and the influence the manager might have. Look at what we did with BJs funds. The number of players bought that never played, the salaries that they took with them. The money from MGW will on the past record be completely wasted I always suspected if SC got another job, MGW would follow however all is quiet regarding SC. We shall see but the vultures are gathering.

Doc we are undoubtedly a very badly run club. Mr M, for all his investment, has spaffed loadsamoney on, at best, mediocre players who have hardly contributed ( Bowler, Mbe So, Dennis etc) or players who are clearly past their best and in the twilight of their careers ( Lingard, Felipe ( although we got one vital season out of him) Turner, Vlach and don't even get me started on Lingard. ) Mr M, with his impetuous nature, has led him to try to run before he can walk. So, abandons the successful model under Dane Murphy ( recruit young, talented players on the rise who can be, if necessary, sold on to balance the books in hand with investment in our Academy. Of course, SC was recruited with this in mind. Mr M is the worst kind of owner in many respects flip flopping between strategies.
I was reminded looking at Wolves on Saturday how they had coped with FFP by selling one or two key players like Jimenez to balance the books then re building. Not only are they comfortably mid table but don’t have any points deductions. That’s how a club should be run in the spectacularly unfair Premiership set up. Proceed with caution and build up slowly and avoid disaster.
I’ll bet if one of the big man’s captains had warned him that one of his super tankers was heading for an ice berg he would have ordered him to change course!

All money from sales should be spent on Quality defensive players young and experienced midfielder's we have and forward we have if we can keep them, still think Dennis is a good lad if coached properly the finance of the club is nothing to do with us really it's his club he's the owner so definitely have a moan but at the decision's but he's the MAN for now anyway.

I meant Nunez and Neves, not Jimenez. Gazzi, I personally think we will survive this season with a bit of luck but it will be very very tight, with probably one of the lowest ever points total from the 18th place club. Two wins or even a draw and a win out of the last 5 for us may well be enough.
But it would be ironic if we were relegated by 4 points or less and that would be squarely at Marinkinakos door. Without the deduction we would be on 30 points and reasonably safe with a good buffer. We have an easier run in than Luton I think.

Agree1 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 10:44:16
But Jester we fans and our ancestors and those who come after us are the real emotional and spiritual core of the club. For Mr Marinkinakos it’s just a business opportunity.

Agree3 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 12:36:52
SR no sensible business man would buy a football club. Big M has piled a load of money into our club. However he has a successful shipping business and as all employs others to run this. His mistake is the choice of lieutenants that has been made, who are I believe Europeans. These have been left to run / ruin our precious club by knowing apparently very little about football. There is no doubt in my mind that if SC. had had is way, Garner, Spence and the other 4 loanees would still be on our books and we would be a team even BJ might still be with us. I know and know folks on this site will say we have as a club moved on. True but we are in the mess with FFP because of what happened post promotion. Apparently a scattergun approach resulted in a hugely bloated squad of poor and has been players. Linguard typifies this and he hasn’t changed and obviously a difficult character. Just this one example, who recruited him, if it was SC I will be eating my hat! The Reds are not unique in having these issues but it all comes down to sadly foreign ownership. Luton, if dare I say it are an example of a potentially better run club who punch well above their weight and have kept their team together. I do think we will survive this season but there has to be a big change to ensure we make progress. Sadly I do not think Nuno will be the one to take us forward but the real problem with our club is the back room guys.

Doc, a good post mate but I’m always amazed how it’s the bosses lieutenants and coaches who get the blame for failure. Surely recruitment is an important part of an owners role? As such he should shoulder some of the blame for our problems.
Marinkinakos personal wealth is estimated at £2.5 billion quid. So, he bought a failing 2nd tier football club from Fawaz for around £50 million. He’s only allowed ( apparently) to invest £35 million a year (£15 million whilst in the Championship ) to cover losses plus probably the same on infrastructure. Getting promotion gets many times that in TV rights ect. So his outlay is basically loose change to him and for that he gets to indulge his football passion/ hobby. To compensate for his ( relatively small) financial losses he gets the kudos, fame and world wide publicity and fame from being a Premier League club owner.
Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful to him for saving our club after the Fawaz era. But to me it seems like a good investment for him and not a philanthropic one. He knows what he’s doing and he’s getting it wrong on so many levels. But, at the end of the day, he will walk away from it and leave us to keep the flame alive and pick up the pieces.

By the way, Mr M does own several Greek media outlets so being on the World stage rather than just the Greek one will be an enormous asset to him. Particularly as he dabbles in Greek politics. AsI say, it’s a good use of ( peanuts) money for him so perhaps he’s a bit slap dash with it. The uncomfortable truth is that our illustrious club is a rich man’s plaything.

On the issue of concessionary season tickets for kids and youth, OAPs the club owes a statement of intent.
The loyalty we have given to Mr M and the board during some very dark days deserves better than rumours left going about.
We know that usually by now we would be beings urged to get our renewals done to get a reduction, this is not the case at present, the club MUST issue details immediately.
We deserve much better treatment, or don’t we actually matter when there’s money to claw back from the chronic waste of the last two seasons!

Stella, mate, I know you could be at serious risk of injury from falling off your recliner after consuming too many sherbets but really! 😂😂

By the way I did manage to increase my wealth by buying a house down a steep slope from the Bank. Then I just watched the money just roll in ……🙄🙄
I’m also reminded of the wonderful true story of when the Jewish American comedian George Burns ( notoriously tight with his wealth) when he was held up at gunpoint by a robber in New York. The robber said “Ok, your money or your life “.

There was no reply so the robber said “Well, did you hear what I said? What’s it to be? ”

Just a few comments to add to those already made.
Firstly, and most importantly, the lads are motivated and want to play for Nuno. They may not be doing so in terms of on field competence and decisions but they are showing some spirit.
Secondly, why has it taken so long for Reyna to get a start? He will only get sharper as he gets match fit and looks the type of player who can change a game. And, by the way, takes a better corner than MGW, as does Danillo.
Thirdly, I read somewhere that we have conceded 22 goals from set pieces this season, the Premierships highest. When will Nuno go to 3 centre backs to compensate for Murillos ( excellent by the way) lack of height to staunch the leaking.?
Fourthly, can anybody tell me how Cunha, receiving the ball in his own half and with no support can be allowed to advance up to and into our penalty area without a challenge? Surely, just someone ( probably Obamadele) to block him off and take a yellow for the team.
Cunha is a £44 million quid Brazilian International and a much underrated player but even he can't run when he's on the deck!
Lastly, I'd like to see Ribeiro get a few more minutes on the pitch. He's got something about him and did a lovely cameo. He's got to have more confidence and energy than Origi surely?
Generally, we showed again we are comfortably mid table team and matched Wolves as we over matched Fulham. Just needs a few tweaks then let Nuno sort the mess out pre season. Oh, and for Gods sake wrap MGW in cotton wool, we need him fit in the run in! Coyr!

Agree with you about Rebeiro. He just has that vibe about him that he can be a big player.

The goal scoring ability gap between Origi and Ollie Watkins is beyond comprehension. A vast chasm of footballing know how and effectiveness for 2 players in the same division!

How many f ck ups has elanga done. Not singling him out. The lads got pace. The player i look up to in this side is murrilo. Playes with good old fashioned heart. Young man, learning his trade, never bitches on tackles, never drops his head when messes up just keeps on going. Full of heart. Always looking for a clinical pass. Or shot looking at the last game bless him. Reds, the forest supporters need murrilo. Like they did cooper. To keep the hearts of what they believe in. THE FIGHT. 👏 thank you for keeping the hope alive murrilo. and the amazing supporters at the WFCG. Proud of ya.

Redvale, re tickets further below.

Think you probably right why create a waiting list unless there's likely to be tickets available they gauging the demand then can scrap all concessions knowing they'll be able to sell at higher prices

Guarantee not release news until after the last home game to avoid backlash as they Normally want payment by now.

Big two fingers up at all young uns n oaps if it happens.

Well if it goes ahead Chelsea will be my last game, I can’t warrant or afford 500 pounds for a card. Just wonder how many of those prawn sandwich brigade turn up on a wet night in November when forest are playing Birmingham City.

I'm sure it will happen if we stop up. Religation would put a spanner in the works, I don't want to see forest go down. I believe in the eyes of the law it would be direct discrimination, but would be very hard to prove. But forest are discriminating against the youngsters by not letting them go on the waiting list for a season ticket.
