MoN has been my choice for manager for all the time since BC stood down. Should the club have gambled then and appointed an unknown then where could we have been today? This is a manager who has excellent record with players and clubs he has worked with as well as being a very well mannered intelligent man. Yes Marinakis has done a 'FAwaz ' and given us a Stuart Pearce but they are chalk and cheese. I think we are very lucky to have got him and although I was for AK, I have always wanted over many years MoN in the BC seat. Age is irrelevant . He has the winning formula I think we need. Roy Keane I am uncertain about but if MoN believes it to be a right fit - so be it!

Good thoughts and probably how we all feel. Maybe we will get the best of the experienced MON

15 Jan 2019 18:26:48
Pundits and fans have all been quite negative of MON and that he is old and his tactics are outdated.
I'm starting to get excited because the opposite always happens 👏👏 UuuRedss.

I have to say Demis I have read mostly positive comments from ex players and fans alike.

15 Jan 2019 18:56:03
Go and tell Warnock and Hodgson that they are too old. Never heard so much b*llocks. Experience counts for so much and o'neill brings ample amounts of that.

15 Jan 2019 20:51:17
And fergie who was still dominating the prem at 66. The bloke looks 10 years younger anyway and is still as sharp as a dagger.

16 Jan 2019 00:29:12
Bristol City will be a hard game this weekend about 9 or 10 matches unbeaten the negative fans will be out in force this weekend if we lose waiting to pounce just hope Martin can get some of krankies rejects to play I think we will see a whole different carvahllo under oneill and think some of the banished under krankie will come good especially some of the youngsters looking forward to it win lose or draw 😆

16 Jan 2019 01:42:06
Interesting comment Skeg. You would normally be stating how easy a game this should be and predicting an easy 4 nil win (waiting to pounce if we didn't)

16 Jan 2019 10:33:34
Skeggie appears in the real world? Threadbare squad, little coaching time and a resurgent Bristol City. As a homecoming first game, a challenge for any manager, even MON. Squad needs thinning and a slight upgrade, tough ask in 2 weeks. I watch with interest.👍

15 Jan 2019 17:25:41
Eastbourne. Don't talk so stupid. He's an intelligent bloke who is a good manager and quite capable of moving with the times, bet he watchers match of the day like us.
Nip down Sandbank and have some Roly Poly with Harry Redknapp.
Leave Forest to Nottingham 😁😁

15 Jan 2019 18:40:18
sorry” red balloons” didn’t realise you had to live in Nottingham to have an opinion on forest. ??

15 Jan 2019 19:02:33
Eastbourne I think he's trying to impress with his geographical prowess.

15 Jan 2019 19:03:30
Eastbourne You better tread warily making sensible observations as there are some very sensitive folk on the forum who are rooted in the past and you will be banished from the kingdom just like me! 🙃🤣👍

15 Jan 2019 19:50:48
Good morning Rie!

15 Jan 2019 20:39:27
Redinexile it’s amazing mr positive becomes mr negative Overnight ! Do you think karanka is the only man that can manage a football team!

15 Jan 2019 23:46:53
Yes rie. Our resident compare is extremely sensitive and don't mention his fez, red trousers and Skype Time with krankie. You will be touching a nerve.

16 Jan 2019 09:51:34
Guy's that was a positive post to a fellow exile! The negativity comes from the local goldfish trying to shout us down and ignore reality.

I've moved on from Karanka but clearly you have not and as for my red trousers they are still undefeated this season! 🤣

PS I'm taking bets on when you get the knives out on Martin! 6,10,12 games or the end of the season ?

15 Jan 2019 17:23:34
Will the appointment give some of our forgotten players a new start ,we have some talented players who have lost their way and Martins mentor loved trying to revive such players.
Zac Clough when playing for Bolton looked a real future star but he,s gone way down ,Bridcutt is an accomplished championship player who,s had poor treatment ,be a real coop if these and others could refined their mojo,s and a great benefit to the club.

15 Jan 2019 17:41:32
Oi!!! "Keano"?? Where are ya???

15 Jan 2019 18:31:36
Clough, Ward and Bridcutt all pictured on the training photos of today on NEP website. Probably means clean slate for all as MON makes his own mind up before deciding who to ship out in January. On another note, good to see about Figuereido and a Grabban both training too, so maybe figs and Robinson at centre half this weekend if Dawson still not fit

15 Jan 2019 18:46:32
It looked like smiles all round.

15 Jan 2019 17:09:51
Steve Guppy has joined O'Neils backroom staff.

15 Jan 2019 18:12:13
Sounds a bit fishy that!

15 Jan 2019 19:03:38
They'll be battered by the end of training.

16 Jan 2019 00:22:10
For COD sake stop talking pollocks😂

16 Jan 2019 04:01:55
For crabs cake where going to be squids in

15 Jan 2019 17:08:58
Welcome Mr Oneil, I am looking forward to you bringing that passion, commitment and quick witted tongue of yours to the club. At least you will instil a give a 100 percent for the shirt so looking forward to it and I'm sure the fans will welcome you especially in the first home game, on Saturday

It's funny reading Pruttons comments on MON's appointment as "part gamble, part punt". For one don't they mean the same thing?! And two, isn't every manager appointment a gamble?! Just look at the conveyor belt of managers that have passed through the City Ground over the last few years! I think it's a great appointment and happy to see Martin back. COYR.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 16:53:21
I read it too acan and thought the same thing regarding a gamble.Pruttons a punt!

15 Jan 2019 16:57:27
Acan. Ignore prutton, he's a total d head. God know how he got the sky sports gig.
Crap footballer crap pundit.

15 Jan 2019 17:44:32
Nice one sgetty. Good job spellcheck didn't change it.

15 Jan 2019 17:52:00
Red balls, gud footballer mate but yeah total tool, boring as pig sh on sky think he has a grudge with forest. when he's on sky and a pundit is talking to him he never listens, always looking at his written script on the table RUDE, watch and you'll see.

15 Jan 2019 18:50:37
I remember him for being petulant and ill disciplined on the field of play.

16 Jan 2019 00:12:21
Never seen him say a good word about forest

15 Jan 2019 15:32:49
Before I get shot down. MON is the manager and he will always have my support all the time he is in the job but.
At 66 years old I feel we have got him 10 years too late, also love Keane, an absolute belting player but his approach does not sit well with the modern footballer. you only have to look at his later days at Sunderland, Ipswich and more recently with Ireland. People will no doubt say "that's what the team needs"but I disagree. it will end in tears. I for one, cannot honestly say than MON is an upgrade on AK but I pray that I am proved wrong. COYR.

Agree2 Disagree14

15 Jan 2019 15:41:25
You are right about Keane: Brilliant when he was with us but deranged with Ferguson!. A bit cynical of me, but if he joins O'Neil it will shorten his tenure at the City Ground.(These tend not to be very long anyway).

15 Jan 2019 15:43:15
Age and experience do count, but so does being able to motivate players and getting the right balance in the team - I can't see any manager being better than MON at these things, and he is obviously up for the challenge. AK never ever seemed to get very excited by much, probably because he is that type of bloke, MON can show more emotion but also combines it with Reason.
This will probably be EM's last throw of the dice, and if it fails he'll walk away, so there is a lot riding on this appointment. Let's just hope he realises it's a two-season job.

15 Jan 2019 15:49:32
I think he's 62 East but totally get what you're saying. Maybe being at Forest will roll a few years back too.

Hopefully we'll have a manager for longer than 12 months for a change this time and hope that Martin brings the luck of the Irish with him.

15 Jan 2019 16:06:04
He will!!!! ☘️☘️☘️

15 Jan 2019 16:48:45
Eastbourne red, 💣💥🤯☻

15 Jan 2019 17:39:27
I have to laugh at people slagging keanes managerial record he’s won just as many promotions as a manager as Ak who some on here regard as proven

15 Jan 2019 17:59:33
I couldn’t care less if Keane had won the World Cup as a manager-he’s a Richard and that’s the end of it, I’ll have to put that to one side though and I hope he does the job on the pitch and training ground for us.

15 Jan 2019 18:04:11
I think MON is a motivator in the same bracket as Warnock, allardyce etc. I think he’s ok tactically - maybe not as astute as a more modern coach but should be good enough .

15 Jan 2019 18:54:35
I agree 2tone. Am hoping M ON will keep him on a tight leash.

15 Jan 2019 19:11:01
You can all say what you like about Keane but he’s been a winner all his career, perhaps some forest fans have forgotten what one of those looks like

15 Jan 2019 19:07:00
One of the beauties of not living in the local goldfish bowl is you get a more rounded view of reality! Welcome Eastbourne to the "Exile Club" !

15 Jan 2019 19:30:03
Most of the younger Forest fans have seen very few winners. At least us veterans have memories.

15 Jan 2019 20:19:53
If you’d have seen the way he treated a forest fan when he came back with Ipswich you’d think differently Stevie - he’s an R’s

15 Jan 2019 21:26:49
2tone you obviously had a bad experience with him so I can understand your position

15 Jan 2019 22:36:19
I can put that behind me and give him my full support though, we all make mistakes and misjudge situations at times. New era (again) so let’s get 100% behind the club and hit the play offs!!

15 Jan 2019 15:20:20
Just watched O'Neil overseeing training. Both Fig and Dawson were training with the first team.

Still think we should recall Worrall.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 15:33:36
Think we should sign Morgan personally

15 Jan 2019 16:02:02
From what I saw of him taking the training session he was mostly chatting to a blonde girlie beside him.

15 Jan 2019 16:17:47
That was an interpreter u know what these foreign coaches are like 🤣😂COYR

15 Jan 2019 16:30:37
Do you blame him?

15 Jan 2019 16:40:40
We've already had "ramsgate" And now our own fans are spying on us.🤣🤣🤣🤣

15 Jan 2019 16:57:15
Glad to see your not giving much away, except he likes blondes😁😁

15 Jan 2019 17:49:34
He was giving her broadstairs.

15 Jan 2019 18:01:27
i always had a liking for prince Billy’s favourite red head reporter , is martins on par?

15 Jan 2019 18:12:35
2tone different class lol

15 Jan 2019 19:07:58
I hope Redtree was not spying at our training ground?🤣

16 Jan 2019 00:15:05
It’s amazing how these injuries are clearing up after AK packed his bags 😏

15 Jan 2019 13:19:51
For those who are saying it will be long ball,I remember when Dave Bassett came to us and fans were up in arms at the appointment.
Don't know about anyone else, but what a season he gave us in that promotion year,it's a matter of opinion if it's long ball.
Pogbas ball on Sunday to Rashford was a long ball and what a ball.
Let's just get behind Martin and see what unfolds, personally I think it will be much more attacking and his enthusiasm will rub off on everyone at the club.
Ps get that green goalie shirt on for Saturday's game.

Agree8 Disagree2

15 Jan 2019 13:44:00
Two up front would be nice !

15 Jan 2019 15:42:32
Ff. The green goalie shirt? I assume OBE style and not to play in goal. Mind you it might not be a bad idea.

15 Jan 2019 19:13:52
You need to remember that Harry Bassett appointed one of the best football coaches at the time Bobby Houghton which is why we played attractive football and went off the boil when Bobby accepted an international team management job.

Martin has come with good intentions having distanced himself in the past and has the opportunity to appoint a backroom team with a succession plan and playing style so the backroom appointments will tell us whether this is a short term fix and which way the football style is going?

15 Jan 2019 20:20:16
The reason we didn't carry on being successful uber Bassett was purely down to Irving scholar selling Kevin Campbell behind Bassett back, not replacing him and forcing donk to go on strike over it.

16 Jan 2019 18:46:03
That was after we limped over the line after Houghton left!
