Steve cotterill has been told he can bring in 3 loan signings, this is why cook and kightley didnt sign as the board wanted the new manager to choose players he wanted, shame beacuse i think any champ manager would have taken kightley.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Is that the same kightley that signed for watford on loan?

Have just been informed that it was frank clarks decision to make steve cotterill manager, this is why the rumour came about so late beacuse ND and MA were trying to get an ex forest man in just to keep the fans happy, i suppose we have to trust mr clarks decision and thinking about it cotterill cant do any worse than the start we have had, lets get 3 points saturday, get the confidence back with the lads couple of shrude loan signings and get an unbeated run going. You're really desperate for attention aren't you? This is the third post i've read from you telling everyone that you predicted this on Tuesday, don't you get enough hugs or something? Nobody cares pal, you might think you're some kind of wonderful but to everyone else, you're just a bit sad.

Besides, as has already been pointed out, you posted half an hour AFTER the move had been confirmed on East Midlands Today (1.30pm lunchtime edition, you posted at 2pm) grow up.

A chinese consortium have agreed £25million price for forest, they have promised money for new players, just a few loose ends to tie up and we will have new owners!!

Believable9 Unbelievable12

Why would we appoint Frank Clark just before a chinese consortium was about to buy the club ? Surely they would have their own man in place

Sky Sports news - Forest agree compensation with Portsmouth for Cotterill - Not the inspiring choice I would have liked but shows how skint we are. We all wanted O'Neil, but now Cotterill is the man all we can do is get behind him and see what happens

The Sun today: Chinese deal done to take over the club - ND agreed £25m to sell. Money for new manager as well.

Believable17 Unbelievable13

Not sure about what this means for COtterill, as he appears to be half way up the M1 as we speak. The consortium apparently have earmarked a foreign manager to take over. As always with forest-never straight forward

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure what to make of this. On one hand it's The S*n and has only appeared in the S*n; on the other, the story's evolved and is now a featured story (an Exclusive!) rather than a filler....

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the third time the sun have ran with this story and I cannot see them doing so without there being something in it.

What a life that would be - imagine if we had the investment the season after Harty got us to the play-off semi final, or when Billy had us playing the best football in years in Jan 2010.

I fear that this rumour is just a rumour ... shame :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would nd bother to get clarke and coterill on board if deal is so close according to the sun. but y bother printing the story 3 times??

Agree0 Disagree0

Lies, lies, lies.

whats the matter? have we got to the stage that the mere suggestion of a player coming in is so preposterous that we are now making up rumours about chinese consortiums instead?

Agree0 Disagree0

How are we making it up when it's been in the national press, three times, in two weeks?
This is a rumours site and this is a rumour, so stop your whining.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no chinese consortium and there will be no takeover

Pompy press conference cancelled. cotterel on his way? Twitter

Believable20 Unbelievable5

Looks like but I am gutted with this appointment, I dont think Frank Clark has had much to do with this one, probably that a******e Arthur again. Pompey fans all over the forums are literally throwing parties now that 'potty cotty' has gone. apparently likes to play a rigid 4 5 1 formation. Brilliant, just what we need, and were giving him a 3 and ghalf year contract, when will we learn our lessons. Rant over

Agree0 Disagree0

My 27 years of support is over - I am off to watch Stags from now on. Why would anyone appoint this JOKE!

Agree0 Disagree0

Go and support stags then you muppett i like you are p£ssed off with everything that is going on at forest but i will NEVER EVER not support the club i grew up supporting forest is in my veins and always will be through thick and thin

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said that person (3rd post) forest till i die

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably gonna be one of the worst managers weve had, and weve had a few in the past 15 years!

No doubt all the mongs will give it 'Forest till I die' but what a bad appointment, what has he done, seriously, to be considered for this job, he's neither up and coming nor a stella signing he's below average.

Were not a big club at all if anything what Sir Brian did was a freak, appointing Cotterill has proved this!

Joke!

Agree0 Disagree0

To the lady or gentleman who made the fourth post, yes it probably was a one off when B.C. took us to the top but i for one was going home and away pre clough and believe me if you think its bad now god help you, i will be a forest fan till i die no matter who is in charge or who plays but to call me a person because of that shows what an un educated baffoon you are , and i think you owe an appology to all true reds fans

tbh I think the cotterill thing is a load of b****cks, I think it's speculation that has got caught up with bookies odds. I've seen Karl Robinson and Roy Keane both favourites in the past few days and nothing come of it. Clark has stated today that he has not drawn up a short list of applicants yet and why would we be approaching a club about taking their manager when a) we hadn't appointed our chairman at the time and b) when we don't have any money for compensation. The smart money's on O'neil, Clark won't appoint anyone half arsed, why get rid of pleat, Shteve and Doherty and appoint a former reds legend as chairman and then get in a random manager?

Believable8 Unbelievable41

You're reading far too much into the situation and your Forestness (i think we can safely say that's a brand new word) is affecting your rationalé.

Doughty announced his decision to quit on Oct 2nd, he was to stay until the end of the season, but 11 days later Frank Clark has taken over. That suggests a desperate need to sort out big problems to me. There is definately more going on than meets the eye and you've only got to read the latest article in the Guardian to understand the problems and the constraints that will be placed on the new manager.

Clark suggests that some big names have applied for the job, but he stops short of naming any of them (obviously) but just because he says big names, it doesn't mean that one of them is O'Neil. Cotterill is still in the running but so is Gary Mills, my money is going on the latter as Clark is keen to land someone who doesn't need millions and who has experience of "this level" - lower your sights, otherwise when the new man arrives, and it isn't O'Neil, it's going to be a bit of an anti-climax and that'll really provide a positive boost to the new bloke when all the fans go "oh... it's him..."

The smart money is NOT on O'Neil, the only people putting money on him are the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres no way on earth o'neill will come, when we have no money for transfers. Don't you remember what happen with him and villa??
For me it is either keane or robins and my money's on robins, as I'm not sure keane would fancy working without money.

Sky sports confirm that forest n Portsmouth have agreed compensation and cotterill is poised to become a red!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on matey. This mornings Daily Express says O'neil has ruled himself out of the N.Ireland job because and I quote 'mulling over a return to club management'. I wonder? 2+2= 5?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well compensation has been agreed and he is on his way. Best next time you think before you write! P.S. At least Cotterill and Chairman will be on same wavelength, may be together they can out Arthur and all will be OK if we keep our Status in Championship this year

Agree0 Disagree0

But surely that doesn't look good for frank after coming out and saying we're in no rush and will take our time

Agree0 Disagree0

Cotterill according to Radio Solent has joined Forest, as i reported on Tuesday.

This is my first post here, so hopefully it'll work ok. A lifelong Forest fan, just old enough to remember Cloughie's Glory Days, been living in Sussex for 20 years!

Local news down here (Meridian) just shown a tearful Cotterill leaving Pompey's training ground this morning, and he said himself he's left Pompey (and sad to do it, which shows good loyalty dispite all the agro he's had to deal with) and he was heading to the City Ground to finalise his deal to be the next Forest manager.

It can only be a good thing; him and super Frank to secure our position and build from there. A sorry place to be considering how close we've come over the last two seasons, but it's better than me having to buy away tickets for Gillingham and Brentford again like i did for my "local" League One games a few seasons ago!

Good luck to the new management team, lets give them all the backing we can and see where we go.

YOOOOOU - REDDDDDSSSSSSSSS

Cotterill Forest Manager

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15256295.stm

Agree0 Disagree0

The more thing change teh more they remain the same....based on Clark's comments one can only conclude he had little if any say in the appotment of Cotterill...so one can only conclude that ND & MA are still running the show!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

13th October - Frank Clark said he we had interviewed no one and hadnt even compiled a short list. 2 days later some guy who couldn't run a Sunday League team is in charge.

We had Billy and they SACKED him, do fans forget that. 'Forest till I die' I cant stand it anymore.

No money, no left back, no replacement for Kelvin Wilson, Lee Camp's having a mare, no CHANCE!

Cheers Forest, im pretty sure we nearly got promoted with Billy, but then again he did get slated for calling a spade a spade what a bad manager!

Agree0 Disagree0

Although Frank Clark was officially appointed on the 13th sounds like he had been working to help choose the manager before then hence his quote "Steve was always at the top of the list and he fits the criteria that we set out when I first started looking at this with the board last week". So he has had input SC is the manager like it or not and things have changed like alot of people wanted but I suspect these same people are the people crying and moaning again. It's time to just get behind the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt its the same people complaining, its getting boring now

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's this doherty??

any Forest fan knows its doughty ffs!

Agree0 Disagree0

Humble pie time cretins! SC IS the man for the job as showed last night!
