Celtic striker Daryl Murphy has emerged as a strong transfer target for English Championship club Nottingham Forest.

The 28-year old appears to be out of favour under Neil Lennon and according to SunSport is a wanted man by new Forest boss Steve McClaren.

Murphy only arrive at Parkhead last summer from Sunderland but wasn t used much by Lennon last term, starting just nine games in the Scottish Premier League.

The Republic of Ireland international has been told he can leave Celtic and it looks as though a summer exit is on the cards with Forest s City Ground a likely destination.

Believable9 Unbelievable12

This looks like a report from a scottish paper of a few days ago. nearly word for word

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't post this but so what if it's copied? At least this person is posting something that has substance to it
Could be a decent signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't bother, if he can't get a game in the SPL how would he play in the championship.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will tell you all once more that we have one of the best goal-scorers in the league. Garner scored last night and played in his proper position by Maclaren will be 20 plus this season. I believe a big striker is what we need, what about Ishmael Miller? Big strong and powerful and available.

Agree0 Disagree0

1 player come's too mind... rob hulse

Agree0 Disagree0

Not criticising the post just making a point that it originated from a scottish edition, i too like to see positive posts

Spurs XI 3-2 Forest
Full Time score from Portugal.

Believable13 Unbelievable6

Teams?.....who scored?

Agree0 Disagree0

Do u know what team was mate and who scored?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dya know the scorers mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently starting line-up was Camp, Moloney, Chambers, Morgan, Lynch, Gunter, Majewski, Cohen, McGugan, Tudgay, McGoldrick.

Morgan and Garner were the goalscoreres for us, Kieron Freeman played in midfield 2nd half and was very good, Reid and Anderson both didn't play because of slight injuries but should be good for Wednesday.

All from Paul Taylor's twitter (NEP sports journalist)

Agree0 Disagree0

Tudgay and mcgoldrick, what a potent strike force... why no findley?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wes Morgan and Joe Garner scored for Forest, 2 goals from harry kane and a guy i have no chance of spelling scored for Spurs. Findlay came on in the 2nd half with Garner and some of the young guys played really well

Agree0 Disagree0

Findley came on at half time

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to try everything with what we got, but i would go for findley garner upfront untill dex is fit just my opinion though

Agree0 Disagree0

Findley came on with Garner at half time.
yeah, apparently freeman played REALLY well - could be a new star - you never know.
Lachelles (or however you spell his name) came on for last 15 mins so hopefully we'll get to see a bit of him this year if he's as good as people have made out.
problem is, seemed like a pretty weak spurs side so not looking too good at mo but were definatly a few players short ourselves but still have a few weeks to get formations and players sorted

Agree0 Disagree0

How strange No new names.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Well done Steve for letting little Joe Garner show you he scores goals 4 fun.

Agree0 Disagree0

A very week spurs side the 1st team are in Africa, it's only a friendly but surely this must re-iterate the importance of getting signings into our very depleted squad. Fed up of paying premiership season ticket prices for a championship club unwilling to pay proper competitive wages to get the players we need. Another season of frustration in the offing for forest fans i'm afraid

Agree0 Disagree0

You're not a proper fan, so shut up. How is it Prem ticket prices? Have you even seen them?

And we're getting three people by the looks of it, so stop being so pessimistic and go and support Derby...

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you'll find there are quite a few teams cheaper the likes of Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn were all cheaper than us last year. Maybe they are not massive clubs but when they are getting to see teams like chelsea and united at their grounds we get the the likes of Scunthorpe(no offence). And to say i'm not a proper fan i've had a season ticket for the last 17 years and support my team no matter what, i'm just being realistic after what we've had the last couple of seasons. Looking forward to the 3 signing monday, but it's still along way off from where we need to be

Forest Fans asked McClaren in Portugal tonight when are we going to sign some players?

He said "deals will start going through Monday, so don't panic"

Source: Forest Player Commentater at Forest v Spurs XI game in the Algarve.

Believable16 Unbelievable8

Monday, more chance ov winning the lottery

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok well if you win the lottery before we sign anyone how about you donate some of the cash to making a signing?

Agree0 Disagree0

He actually said see me monday not deals will start monday

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt actually say that he said "come see me monday"......why lie and say he said that...

Agree0 Disagree0

How about we all donate 50quid and buy out the ap

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps he has a statement to make on Monday.as in he is walking away

Agree0 Disagree0

DON'T WORRY LADS , MARK ARTHUR WILL ANNOUNCE ON THE RADIO ON MONDAY THAT PRATLEY & WHITTINGHAM ARE 'IN THE BAG'

Agree0 Disagree0

This could be good, maybe he cant say anything because of press conferences etc

then again maybe he's quitting and we'll be left short...

then again, logically if he was gonna quit why would he fly out?

too much speculation

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes not quitting, some people are stooopid. you all need to get a grip the signings will come

Agree0 Disagree0

Well your completely wrong as pratley is a bolton player

Agree0 Disagree0

Ffs so because he says something just to get rid of you every one takes it as fact, when its in black and white on the os then i will believe not untill, personally i woukldn't a word anyone says at hte moment

millwall closing in on ricardo fueller and burnley on treachy

Believable4 Unbelievable12

We dont want them anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

What's that got to do with forest?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take treacy, and Ricardo fuller isn't a bad striker either but a bit injury prone

Agree0 Disagree0

But forest are closing in on fuller and treacy?

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting proper fed up now.We ll be left with the "has been dreggs".We deserve a lot more

junior agogo gone to hibs for a trial, forest should have him back, i dont think i could find one forest fan who wouldnt have him back

Believable9 Unbelievable23

I wouldnt have him back...he flopped in africa and had to go to cyprus..clearly he let his standards drop

Agree0 Disagree0

Amen to that. Bring that little boxer back home

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be the first then I think he was slow and not that good

Agree0 Disagree0

And lazy. Easter Rd is as near to the City Ground as I'd want him to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be the third i thought he was rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

God please looking like leeds here lol
signing old players

Agree0 Disagree0

I certainly wouldnt want him back- greedy, thats why he left in the first place....

Agree0 Disagree0

The only strikers we should get are ones who can score 20 goals
not players that were average in league 1

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know a single forest fan who would have him back. League one is his level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, I would love to see a 32 year old who has been setting the Cypriot league on fire back at the city ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

Idle and over rated. Def wouldn't have him back.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was awful.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very harsh fellow forest fans, well past his best at 32 so not good enough now, but in his days as a forest player didn't think you could fault him. Scored goals contributed to the team, hardly left for the money don't think you can earn a massive amount of money as a footballer in africa, more likely went back because he's erm from Africa. Just pains me to see forest fans slagging off half decent footballers who did a good job for forest, when you compare to some of the crap over the years silenzi seems to ring a bell

Agree0 Disagree0

Went back because he's african? He's nigerian and he went to egypt: that's like saying you may as well work in poland if your english because they're both in europe He went there because they doubled his salary. He flopped big time and they got rid asap.

Time to state some facts... Nottingham Forest will not be signing anyone today. Voices comming from the City ground are stating that Mclaren is already considering his future. He has quickly caught on to the lack of ambition from the club and is read to walk on Monday Morning. FACTMAN

Believable19 Unbelievable17

I wish derby fans would stay on there own forums

Agree0 Disagree0

Just renewed my season ticket, I hope that McClaren is not on his way out. But I have a feeling that if there is no movement into the club I think he may well walk and who could blame him. We have not lost anyone of huge significance. Earnshaw was past it, please watch the home game against Derby, McKenna too slow, Adebola too slow and too old, Wilson was already gone. So if we do get Greening, a real left back, a good goal scoring centre forward and a couple more players, we will be in with a chance of top six.

Agree0 Disagree0

Silly wum posting garbage - McClaren would damage his reputation if he walked now and Doughty wouldn't bring him in if he wasn't prepared to spend. It's taking longer than we want, but it's not as bad as this person is suggesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

Utter bullsh*t. McClaren is a professional, he's not going to throw his toys out of the pram after a few weeks. It'd make him look an idiot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tounkara linked with Forest loan
that's not what i call a potential candidate to fire us to prem

Believable9 Unbelievable10

WOW, i bet all the top teams in the championship will be worried with us making such a HUGE signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not?
He's scored more league goals than Ian Wright had at the same age.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah did crystal palace get promoted ......NO SO YOU JUST ANSWERED QUESTION

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure he is a target man anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

Gd statistic

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not the 20 goal a year striker but he's strong and combative, he's the sort of striker to get others playing off him, now dele's gone and with dex not back for a while we're missing this sort of bustling striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope not very poor

BBC news team (EMT) at the city ground, upto two new players to be announced by the close of business today. Forest press announcement will be around 4.00pm with a feature on the new signings to be shown on local bbc news at around 6.30. Looks as though it could be Greening and Moussi but can't confirm this just yet. Shorey deal is close but unlikely to be done until Monday. Mclaren is flying out to Portgual to join the rest of the squad but any new players won't be joining him NDJr

Believable10 Unbelievable14

How is moussi a new player?

Agree0 Disagree0

Classing Moussi as a new signing would be a bit much.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally have given up on any hope of us announcing anything. I am so sick and tired of checking verious sites day in day out just to be let down. I have come to the conclusion that what will be will be. If Doughty wants Nottingham Forest Football Club to remain in the championship then that is what he will do. At the end of the day neither you or i could afford the club but i bet you all of my little wage that we would have more passion and would treat the fans with respect and honour.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to clarify...on implying 'two new signings' I meant Moussi to be counted as one of them as he is technically a free agent at this moment in time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to be clear is this the same press conference that was meant to happen at 10am, and then 3pm, and is now at 4pm?

Agree0 Disagree0

According to Paul Taylor's Twitter (NEP) Shorey isn't even a target. He believes Moussi will re-sign this pm, and Greening will be confirmed on Monday ('dotting i's & crossing t's' to quote PT)

Agree0 Disagree0

Gone 4 where is it lol why bother writing it must be the weather

Agree0 Disagree0

Shorey may not be a target, but he wants to join...

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry guys I said it would be announced around 4pm, apparently the reason there hasn't been a press conference yet is because Mark Arthurs having his hair cut before speaking to the media Heard it here first.NDjr

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for some more crap posted on this website, if you are a true fan you will stop posting crap cus some of us real fans are at the point where we want the club to be successful and believe this so stop posting crap to get our hopes up and then let us find out its rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

5.15pm now... where's this announcement then? Bunch of dreamers.

All this carp is doing my swede in now.
Where's the press announcement?
Where are the fresh faces?
Dude...where's my car?

Agree0 Disagree0

Because Roy hodgson has said in the press that he wants to join forest, but hodgson wants to keep him.

Believable13 Unbelievable4

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we really want someone on loan again at left back? We need a permanent signing for consistency

Believable13 Unbelievable9

Good news if true.He made a massive difference last season and was sorely missed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty much says the exact oppposite.

Agree0 Disagree0

NICKY Shorey has dismissed recent speculation linking him with a move away from Albion, insisting his future lies at The Hawthorns.

Roy Hodgson reacted last week to media reports suggesting the left-back was on his way to Nottingham Forest - where he spent two months on loan during the 2009/10 campaign - by stating he is still very much part of his plans.

And Shorey is determined to build on his form towards the end of last season and try and hold down a regular Barclays Premier League starting place with the Baggies.

"I don't know where that link with Forest came from, " said the 30-year-old defender, speaking from Albion's California training HQ. - From west brom website.. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
