Supposedly, nottm forest are' in talks' with an ex-England international

Believable13 Unbelievable23

PLEASE BE HESKEY! {Ed007's Note - Heskey has been training with Blackpool.}

Agree0 Disagree0

We must be desperate, and I really do hope it isn't Heskey lol

Agree1 Disagree0

That's last weeks news, was Michael Owen.

Agree0 Disagree0

HESKEY! Ok I'm kidding

Agree0 Disagree0

David Bentley I have heard

Agree0 Disagree0

Please not Heskey

Agree1 Disagree1

Blackpool to win the league next year then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Also heard its Bentley or could it be jj lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want any of the players mentioned...i want strong fast and tricky wingers

Agree0 Disagree1

Rohan Ricketts?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think bentley would be decent he was a good prospect once

Agree0 Disagree0

Talking to a mate in portsmouth, she thinks we are talking to david james! {Ed034's Note - She's wrong

Agree0 Disagree1

It's Matthew Upson {Ed034's Note - I can't see us signing both upsom and Ayala

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be good if Upson. I thought that Halford did OK playing at CB yesterday but was quality at RB. I think 2 CBs are required, particularly if Norwich have a recall clause on their player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its no-one

Agree0 Disagree0

Carlton Cole from West Ham

Agree0 Disagree0

Upson is quality so him collins could make good pairing with ayala as back up {Ed034's Note - Ayala Won't come as back up. He could do that at Norwich

Agree0 Disagree0

Please not Heskey weve got strikers who can't score already

Agree0 Disagree1

Could you be a bit more vague please?

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe off the mark looking at a player. Do we know of any ex England Internationals who might be linked with the unfilled DOF role? Perhaps one whose latest project finished last night?

Agree0 Disagree0

I sure hope so!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think Psycho would want to be DOF, he is a coach not a suit man.

Agree0 Disagree0

You get a dof in who is experienced to help a less experienced manager out normally so sir Stuart wouldn't be in that category

Agree0 Disagree0

Stuart Pearce does not have what it takes to lead SOD. I hope it's not him. Steve Coppell, Paul Hart, Glenn Hoddle, any of the above please

Agree0 Disagree0

SP would be ideal for this roll at NFFC
His knowledge of good young players would be invaluable to SOD {Ed034's Note - He also had a rapport with top flight managers, which will help with transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

Coppel was at crawley with sod, so there may be something there...

Agree0 Disagree0

You have to ask the question, what next for Pearce? Other than a top 6 premiership manager job (which he is not going to get) anything else is a step down from his recent roles. DOF might just be a different direction. {Ed034's Note - I think his ambition will see him at a mid to top championship club, maybe lower prem

Agree0 Disagree0

Forest have bid for coppinger. ssn

Believable28 Unbelievable11

No it doesn't it says we are eyeing up a move for him, not that we have bid for him.

Agree0 Disagree1

Coppinger has been playing central midfield recently. I'm all for competition within the squad but Seriously we do not need another central mid. Get some pace into the side out wide to give us options if the middle is congested. Hall, Bennett, Hammond, get them in!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hammond?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that's Hammill then!

Agree0 Disagree0

Clarkson and May could do a job too i reckon. {Ed034's Note - Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Need wingers quickly

Agree0 Disagree0

Must admit, I dont like judging after around 60 mins but I thought gillette was pretty poor today, he looks very lightweight, looked much better with the changes in the 2nd half...2nd half was very promising..even mcgoldrick looked sharp...Ayala will be a great signing, thought the defence looked good today and will only get stronger..roll on the season now... Great to be back at the CG today...COYR..!!

Believable17 Unbelievable14

I hear what you're saying, but don't judge the guy on 60 mins work, when he's only in the door and doesn't really know the team's set up yet.

No judgements until we're under way - same goes for McGoldrick & Derbyshire. It's a new season with a new manager. Clean slates all round, I say!

Irish Red.

Agree3 Disagree0

I know we cant judge on the first match but Gillett is way to small and not as physical as the rest of the team. I also agree with the first statement by that mcgoldrick looked sharp which miller definatly didnt. Mcgugan and Reid looked alot slimmer and quicker also tudgay looked good and the Defence looked unbreakable and we didnt conseed in free play it was a freekick so all together we looked brilliant

Bridgeford Boy2 {Ed034's Note - way too small.....I presume that's the reason you wouldn't sign messi

Agree0 Disagree0

2nd half today looked very goog yes Gillette did look a bit light bt he was ok and he is signing 4 free, what I did love today was 13 thousand fans and every forest player gave 100 percent and everything was on the floor it maybe a long road but things are looking better and we are on the up .....so get down there and sing your backside off ...u reds.... Mr ST

Agree0 Disagree1

Its one game! How many bad games did the team have last season? Did you give on them too?

RG09

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely disagree , you have to remember he joined today and he has only had a short time to 'gel' with his new team-mates. I think he did alright and is very promising

Agree0 Disagree0

I must admit I thought he was a bit shaky in the first 15 mins but he began to settle and in the second half I though he played really well. Reminded me a bit of McKenna. Let's remember as well that he had a medical this morning AND was new to the set up AND doesn't fully know the lads yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

He looked neat and tidy for me, but if ur choosing between him and moussi I'd go for the latter. Let's give him a chance to settle in though. Thought moussa looked decent today though. Bit of quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed Gillett hasnt got the skill of messi or the low centre of gravity so it doent mean i wouldnt have gillett but he doesnt look strong enough for our league if you get what i mean

Bridgeford Boy2 {Ed034's Note - I understand what your saying but to play dm, you only have to be able to read the game. Lets be honest, none of us have a clue about him and I think we need to trust the boss

Agree0 Disagree0

Miller looked lazy & uninterested today , everyone else looked great , maybe maloneys final ball poor ,loving the new slim reidy . {Ed034's Note - I couldn't make it today because of my wife working and having the little one, but I have been told he did alright. What are other posters views on him today??

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys we played a decent premier legue team

Agree0 Disagree0

Miller didn't shine at all, but then again I think all 12,500 would agree the first half was awful in terms of quality, so for me its a pity he didn't play the second half so we could rate his performance more

Agree0 Disagree0

Gillett .... Razor sharp soon! Lol!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maloney was poor for me and to be fair their wasnt much for miller or blackstock service wise in the first half, my god were the home crowd quite out sung untill we scored you could hear a pin drop at times!

Agree0 Disagree1

"Must admit, I dont like judging after around 60 mins"

But you judged him anyway!!!

Ridiculous!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

What number was Gillett?

Agree0 Disagree0

Today was very promising, miller wasnt great or moloney but everyone else did well gotta give gillett a chance, hard to judge on an hour but thought he looked a bit lightweight for this division but expect him to be a squad player with our midfield. also cohen still to come back

Agree0 Disagree0

Gillett was number 4

Agree0 Disagree0

Goals from game on ssn tonight

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't make it today, but have we not just stuffed a Prem. side quite convincingly? quit your moaning and back the boys. YOU REDS!! Dan T.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at the match today and I'm not being funny, but I think you're all talking complete tosh. He played really well today, he made hardly any mistakes at all, passed the ball around very very well, and think ypu'll find he received a standing ovation when he came off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta say the whole team played well today, he might not quite be the best a man can get but gillett still looked pretty decent for a free, its the first time he'd played a full game with the squad and his passing was quite good, and anyways i can't see sod signing anyone who he doesnt think is worth it and we won against prem opposition today so COYR

Agree0 Disagree0

Currently in america but spoke to one of the lads i know who work at forest full time with the youth squad, i heard Collins was phenominal, didnt shut up... We need a new leader, sounds like a good candidate!
You Reds!

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Gillett looked tidy and got stuck in when needed. He will need time to settle. We have lots of midfielders but hopefully eases the pressure to rush Cohen back too quickly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree about Miller - the man could not hold a ball up yesterday. He just kept falling over. Different game when McGoldrick and Tuds were on - I was really impressed with McGoldrick, great hold up play, clever runs and good final balls {Ed034's Note - Could goldie finally come good??

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Gillett played quite well really. He did the sorts of things that McKenna used to do. It's too early to judge anyone though and if he turns out to be anywhere near the player than McKenna did, then I'll be very happy!

Agree0 Disagree0

Redknapp said Modric was lightweight an hot knocked off the ball a
Bit, look where he's at now!

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought gillet looked like mekena but alot more mobile ! maloney looked scared to death freeman looked very promersing good day at the office you reds

Agree0 Disagree0

Mcgoldrick sharp who are you kidding couldnt sharpen a pencil

Agree0 Disagree0

How come none of the Kuwait trialists got a run out today? Thought we were signing 3 of them?

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Non will be signed due to work permit regulations

Agree0 Disagree1

Villa didn't want any of the trialists to play in case they got players injured,Harding looks a good buy COYR

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know that? Surely if we couldn't sign them they wouldn't be on trial?

Agree0 Disagree0

Moussa is a trialist and he played?

Agree0 Disagree0

He said kuwaiti trialists not moussa

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but moussa has got a work permit the kuwaities arent in the top 70 world rankings so we wont be able to sign them unless something amazing happens

Agree0 Disagree1

Paul Lambert said they didn't have Work Permits so didn't want them playing

RG09

Agree0 Disagree0

Villa didn't want the trialists to play because they haven't got work permits and didn't want them to injure their players. moussa is cleared to play in england. i thought moussa looked good in the brief flashes he got the ball. not afraid to run at players

Agree0 Disagree0

To who put 'He said Kuwaiti trialists'

I was aiming that comment at the one where apparently villa didn't want any trialists playing but moussa is a trialist

Agree0 Disagree0

Villa did not want any trialists who do not have work permits to work in the uk to play, hence why mousssa could play. Paul taylor of the NEP tweeted this

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently lambert wouldn't let them play. Don't know how true this is though {Ed034's Note - It's very true. Not sure of the reasoning behind it though

Agree0 Disagree0

Possibly insurance reasons? Like drivers if you have an accident and they are not covered you can't claim.Would make sense?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a note you dont need to have a work permit to play in friendly matches.....only in competitive ones

Agree0 Disagree0

Just translated Daniel Ayala's last tweet-
Spanish fans stay tuned my good news very soon
Is he about to be signed on season loan?

Believable22 Unbelievable7

Prob not as he says spanish fans. prob goin spain. {Ed034's Note - he also posted in English

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed is correct he also tweeted in English just before it, looks like he will be the next one in. I love this new squad SOD is buliding. Remember its a Marathon not a sprint and over the next couple of seasons we will make our way to the prem. This season is about putting the foundations together

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree

I'm happy with the way we're going about our business this summer, have a season of not spending masses of money to build a foundation under SO'D, the team looked solid against Villa, but i still think we need some more signings, maybe a couple of wingers

Agree0 Disagree0

Have the new owners actually put any new money in yet? They sold Gunts for 2m and released a load of others. Theyve then signed a load of freebies and journeymen. Decent players coming in but we need a superstar to inspire us all.

Agree0 Disagree1

Who cares, isn't it more important we ar heading in the righ direction than how much it costs to travel there? {Ed034's Note - Ignore the silly comments about not putting money in. The amount on buying us doesn't clearly count to some fans

Agree1 Disagree0

Why?playing good football and getting results are good enough at the mo.although i agree that we could do with a goal poacher, but you dont have to spend shedloads.just get the scouts working to find a gem.

Agree0 Disagree0

The post i just sent wasnt a reply to you ed,but as you said, the silly coment before

Agree0 Disagree0

Have they put any money in? How about the 75 mil to buy the club

Agree0 Disagree0

They did not pay 75 million for the club. Yes they have only spent the Gunter money so far and not a penny wasted. Poor defenders out, good defenders in for next to nothing, is sound financial backing. Miller, Greening and Derbyshire was money spent last pre-season. We may have learnt our lesson.

Agree0 Disagree0

They have spent the Gunter money but who is paying the wages for these 5 players? I guess gunters wages cover that to lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Forest have signed Gillette it's on the OS site

Believable19 Unbelievable9

How can you disbelieve it when it's on the Official Site

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a clean shaven player with a keen edge to his game. Sharpe signing that won't take long to gel.

Agree0 Disagree0

I watched gillett play today vs villa he was poor.franck moussa came on and was alot better than gillett.moussa linked up well with mcgugan n moussi.we need a right winger like moussa not another central midfielder when we have mcgugan moussi guedioura etc

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Aug 2012 14:11:40
Simon Gillett just signed, fawaz just tweeted it

Believable22 Unbelievable7

Does Gillet play as winger? {Ed034's Note - Holding mid

Agree0 Disagree0

Another poor signing

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2012 13:44:27
James Coppinger now linked to forest just how many midfielders does he need? ex doncaster ones at that, most are Central aswell we need wide men with a good cross on them for dex and miller {Ed034's Note - I thought coppinger was a winger

Believable13 Unbelievable6

I wish he would forget about forwards & midfielders, we have enough! Get another two defenders & a quality winger. Job done!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I think he plays wide. Doncaster Old Boys FC! {Ed034's Note - Because we have 1 of there players and been linked with another??

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah it's making me laugh how some fans think we are just buying Doncaster players!

Has anyone seen Coppinger play? He can play out wide and has a great delivery on him

Agree0 Disagree0

Coppinger IS a winger Ed {Ed034's Note - thanks I thought so

Agree0 Disagree0

Coppinger is a footballer in the Cohen mould who can play across the park and pass.
Looks like we are going 4-3-3 ,4-2-3-1, 3-5-2?
Still think we will sign 2 wing players + a defender for our 25 then trade some forwards to get a balanced squad. However both Miller and Derbyshire can play wide!

Agree0 Disagree0

Coppinger is a winger but hes not that good..i thought we had some dosh now...spend a bit please...moussa is much better

Agree0 Disagree0

Nottingham Forest have received a £275k bid from Millwall for Marcus Tudgay. JPT

Believable6 Unbelievable24

Take it! Take it now! Not a bad player, need to offload tho!

Agree1 Disagree0

Snap there hands off

Agree1 Disagree0

I'll drive him there myself.Do they want to up it to 300,000 and we'll chuck in Goldie.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give em Mcgoaldrought as well, you buy one you get one Free!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is everyone so desperate to get rid of tudgay? His work rate was fantastic last season! Yeah he's not the best of players but would rather have him in the team than a talented player that doesn't put effort in I.e mcgugan

Agree2 Disagree1

Same old there are other strikers to get rid of first at least tudgay puts in 100%
sooner keep him than that offer

Agree2 Disagree0

Got to agree tudgay does run round like a headless chicken but he doesn't really contribute much, offload him

Agree1 Disagree0

Surely we can only sell the ones other clubs put an offer in for?

pinxton {Ed034's Note - Good, sensible point.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we et bids for moloney greening mouss derbyshire mcgoldrick tudgay or findley I think we should considrr them to makr space in squad for further better signings obviously dont sell them all coz weneed a squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but he scored today

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh swap for Henderson or wright

Agree0 Disagree0

Na never

Agree0 Disagree0

You are all mental - Tuds is a great player - good in the air and great at holding up play. Get rid of that useless donkey Miller - I would take 2.75 for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Plenty to go before Tuds! not a bad player and gives it some.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads if he can finish how he did yesterday we should keep him. He showed two great feet, composure and the cutest finish of the day. And who led the line alone last year with all that pressure on him? Tudders that's who no wonder he looked peeved after scoring if he reads stuff like this from you 'fans'. Derbyshire and McGoldick should have their contracts terminated not Tudgay who gives 100% every match

Peterborough have made a bid for Southend winger Ryan Hall.

Believable5 Unbelievable11

I have a feeling that u being in for hall was justfan talk an rumours, think hammond is the player who we will target

Agree0 Disagree0

It was rejected and apparently they were a log way off southends valuation

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm confident we are more attractive than peterborough {Ed034's Note -

Should Forest lose K.Freeman, Forest have eyes on Liverpool youngster Jack Robinson (LB), capped at England Under 19s-16s. Forest will Sign Robinson for a season Loan for cover in that LB position.

Daniel Ayala loan will go through Monday. However, Norwich have addrd a clause in the contract which is 24hour recall. {Ed034's Note - You can't have a recall clause on season long loans, I don't think

Believable7 Unbelievable11

I dont think will be losing Freeman anytime soon, he is Forest thru and thru and sadly not proven yet at this level, maybe he will go out on loan again to league one but he wants to prove himself at Forest, and I hope S'OD allows this :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely if we had that lb he'll only be recalled if all the other lbs at Liverpool got injured, and that's unlikely? And Freemans rb? Just played lb at Notts

Agree0 Disagree0

Forest will not be losing freeman, so lets get this right u think freeman going cause not experienced and replacing him with lad on loan thats not played any games yet? freeman will be just fine allways gives you 100% forest lad and is more than good enough for forest cant see them signing anymore players anyway apart from freebies and loans, {Ed034's Note - I don't get why people say 'i can't see us signing anyone other than freebies'. Forest haven't given any reason to thing this

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you can have a recall just not a 24 hour one, but if we pay a loan fee they cant recall

Agree0 Disagree0

You are correct ed aplayer can only be recalled if he is to be sold or is a goalkeeper

Agree0 Disagree0

The parent club can put in a recall clause as long as there is no loan fee involved

forest to sign jamie mackie from qpr on season loan

Believable7 Unbelievable18

Would be a good signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely no chance. Had a good run in the qpr team and did well towards the end of the season. Firstly, can't see qpr letting him go and second, he wont drop a division. Simple as.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was great last season and could join with qpr having a spending spree

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was available, snap him up now. Quality player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thinking about him the other day because QPR keep offering him in part ex deals. Would be a great signing, can't understand why QPR would let him go but he certainly seems to be viewed as surplus to requirements. Snap him up

Agree0 Disagree0

I was disappointed when we didn't get him from Plymouth so snapping him up now would be excellent. He is more than likely to move as he was the previous managers signing - Hughes will drop him and spend 10m on an average replacement

Agree0 Disagree0

How is he viewed as surplus to requirements?? And who had he been offered to as part exchange? Nobody! He had a very good last half season at qpr. Was interviewed last week expressing delight at new signings and competing for his place. Won't happen. Only possibility is a January loan if not in the qpr side

Agree0 Disagree0

Mackie is a decent player, cant see this happening at all, Sharp for me is a better striker, would sooner see him in a Forest shirt!

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been offered up to Blackburn with a view to QPR securing Hoillett. So I guess I mean surplus IF QPR secure him or Bellamy or any of the other attackers QPR have been linked with. I stand corrected but if QPR do pick up one the aforementioned players he would be worth a try. Quality wide as well as up front. But I appreciate that it's a long shot, I'd expect a hefty price tag, was just saying I hope he's the sort of player we're considering really

Agree0 Disagree0

Ipswich bid £250,000 for Kelvin Wilson. If he is available for that sort of money then we should be 1st in the queue to re-sign him.Forget what happened with him and Billy.Ayala deal will be done Monday.

Believable15 Unbelievable5

He does not want to come back to us, what is wrong with you lot

Agree0 Disagree1

Any body els sick of hearing about Wilson ?? {Ed034's Note - Me

Agree1 Disagree0

If he signs then we will here no more ! see it is good to know where our targets go ! lol

pinxton

Don't want him back....he made his bed...let him lie in it!!

Gillet to sign a 2 year contract tomorrow i believe we will now give up our chase for moussa now

Also has anyone heard any news about the future of freeman?

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Gillet not good enough...oh dear we seem to be letting quality slip here...shell out some dosh for an exciting fast young winger we need wide men

Agree0 Disagree0

Freeman will have a future at forest

Agree0 Disagree0

What chase? He is with us because nobody else wants him. He is a free agent and SOD knows him from Donny days. Expect Moussa to sign a contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does that end interest in Moussa? Gillett is a defensive midfielder NOT a winger!

Good signing though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it just me that thinks gillett at 26 with two major knee injuries and two years away from the game because of those knee injuries looks like a disastrous signing??? I hope he's a squad player and we use him sparingly. Thoughts ??????

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Gillette play nearly every game for Donny last season?

Agree0 Disagree1

He was their player of the season, he obv has something about him I say hes gotta be worth a shot based on that alone he's the sort of player we need right attitude hard working.

Agree0 Disagree0

It may be a distinct possibility that sod doesn't rate moussi in that holding role and wants another option there. Personally I rate him but he is a bit like marmite I guess?

Agree0 Disagree0

SOD wants to play football the right way and gillet guedioura and moussa are better at doing that than moussi

Agree0 Disagree0

Gillet played 48 games last season and people shouldnt say he would be a poor signing just coz his side got relegated last season. we nearly did and still gunter and mccleary went to pl sides

Agree0 Disagree0

Simon gillett has joined Nottingham forest as a free transfer.

Also tracking hall at Southend but no contact as yet

Hughton is considering loaning Ayala to us for a season

Forest enquired about maynard,Wilson, billy sharp and boyata but either the player deciding against us or the asking price was double there actual value

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Theres been alot of gobbin off about kelvin Wilson joining us, been going on for a few weeks now about he's "signing tomorrow" not happening! He's been seen in Nottingham because hes from Nottingham, he has family here!! Get over it....he's not coming back in the near future!!

Agree1 Disagree0

Boyata and Maynard will only be a loan

Agree0 Disagree0

Ipswich looking at him in the papers apparently. Be very surprised if he joined them
